THE MATCH
“Wake up Andrew! Are you not going to school?
Annie said and waked me up.
I yawned, straightens my bĀ©dy and also rolled my eyes.
“You have awaken up alre-ady?
“Yes! Are you not going to school or have you forgotten what today is?
“What did you know about today?
“Today is the day you have a match with Jude and Jackson or have forgotten about it?
She sounded and I was mopping at her how did she knows about the match.
“Annie how did you know that I have a match today?
I asked confusedly.
“Have you forgotten that am a ghost and I can go anywhere I want to”
I even forgot that am talking to a ghost because she is just alive human being for me.
“Oh! That’s true, so you have been coming to my school?
“Somehow!
“Andrew who are you talking to?
Mom asked as soon as she c@mĀ£ inside my room.
I sounded and Annie pas-sed in between Mom and brou-ght my phone immediately.
“I was chatting with Davey on phone”
“But I thought I heard a female voice”
Mom said.
“Yes Mom! It was Davey’s sister Danny, the phone was on speak out”
“Okay, I c@mĀ£ to wake you up but you are alre-ady awake”
“I have a match today that’s why I waked up and I nee-d to go to school on time to practice for the match before it will start”
“Okay Son! Shower and come downstairs and have your breakfast”
Mom said and went out.
Oh my gosh! I have to be more careful when chatting with Annie to avoid Mom from suspecting anything.
“Annie I nee-d to go and shower”
I said and took up from the be-d.
“Okay let me guess myself”
She said and disappeared throu-gh the window.
I went to the bathroom shower and dressed up and went downstairs to have my breakfast.
I met Annie on the stairs.
“Are you waiting for me?
“You look good on your outfit”
She said with smiles.
“Thanks Annie!
I said with smiles.
“Your Mom has been waiting for you”
“Okay!
I went to the dinning table, Mom has alre-ady set the breakfast.
I sat down and Annie sat beside me.
“You can’t eat now because of Mom”
I said to her.
“Did you say anything Son?
“No Mom!
“Don’t worry about me!
She whispered to me.
“So Son you spoke with Davey’s sister how is she doing?
Mom asked.
I don’t even know how she is doing right now.
“Mom she is doing fine”
I replied.
“Okay! The school authorities should stĀ©p ignoring such matter, they should handle those Jude and Jackson give them suspension or even expel them from school, parents or guardians should fight and make sure that the school authorities takes action when they kids are being bully”
Mom sounded.
“Mom that’s what the school authorities should do but their hands are ti-ght due who they parents are”
I sounded.
“Anytime you are being bully again I will not take it lighten with the school authorities”
Mom sounded.
The door bell ranged and it was Davey with her sister.
“Good morning Ma!
The both greeted as they c@mĀ£ inside.
“Morning Davey and Danny, how are you doing Danny? Andrew told me what those br@ts did to you?
“Am fine Ma!
“Davey what did you Mom do against the way those br@ts bullied your sister?
“Ma she reported to the school authorities and no tangible decision was taken beside we are used to their bully in that school”
Davey said.
“So bad! The school nee-d to take action on those guys”
Mom sounded.
“Mom we nee-d to start going”
I said as I took my backpack.
“Okay Son! See you after school”
Mom said and peeked me.
Davey and Danny peeked Mom too and we went out.
Annie appeared to me and said.
“Andrew make sure you defeat Jackson and Jude”
She hvgged me and smiled.
I started shivering as usually.
“I will!
I whispered to her with a smile and she disappeared.
“Andrew what’s wrong with you? Your bĀ©dy is cold and you are shivering too”
Danny asked.
“Is nothing Danny, the coldness will soon disappear”
“What did you mean is nothing? What causes it?
Davey asked.
“I have no idea!
I said, I can’t probably tell them about Annie.
“There’s something I re-ad about ghosts, if ghost tĀ©uƧhed you, you will start shivering and your bĀ©dy will be cold just like what happened to you right now”
Danny said.
“Are you saying that a ghost tĀ©uƧhed me?
“Don’t think to Danny, ghosts doesn’t exist”
Davey said.
“Am not sure but that what they said about ghosts and I have watched about ghost before”
Danny said.
“Ghost did not tĀ©uƧh me, I believed to Davey ghosts doesn’t exist”
I sounded.
“If actually ghost do exit I will like to meet one, one day”
Danny said and not even sure if Ghost do exit.
We got a cab and arrived to school.
As we stepped in, Students started talking about the incident that happened between Danny and those bullies, they were given their heart concern to her apologizing to her.
“See you at the match”
Danny said and went to her clas-s.
We went to the clas-s get sitted to our chair, the clas-s was so noisy, the students was talking and shouting so lound especially the girls and immediately Jude and Jackson c@mĀ£ inside the whole clas-s bec@mĀ£ so quite like a lonely road.
Not a while ago Mrs Jamie the Science teacher c@mĀ£ in.
Twenty five minutes, she was done with her teaching.
We had one more lesson before the bell was ranged for the match.
We went to the dressing room and I got changed, the coach introduced me to the team.
They looked so worried about the match saying that they will loose again but I encouraged and as-sured them that we must carry the championsh!ptoday.
I gave them my words because I have confidence in me that we will defeat Jackson’s team because my Dad trained me very well and his training will not go in vain.
“Andrew I know you will win the match”
Davey said.
“For sure we have alre-ady won”
I replied with smiles and being so much as-sured.
We went to the basketball courts and Jude’s team are alre-ady at the courts.
“You! In this team!
Jude shouted as they walked to us.
“Did you think you can beat our team?
Jackson shouted.
“Today will be the downfall of your team”
I said being so bold.
“You! Bring us down!
Jackson laughed.
“Your team will always remain being a loser”
Jude laughed.
“We shall see!
I said.
They laughed and walked out.
“They don’t know who am in the basketball courts”
I said.
“Andrew I know you will defeat them and they will be covered with shame”
Danny laughed out.
The bell ranged for the match to start.
” Dude Go and defeat them and make your team proud”
Davey hvgged me and said.
“Andrew go and bring the championsh!pto the team”
Danny said and hvgged me too.
They have not seen me pl@ybefore and they have this so much confidence in me.
I rushed inside the basketball courts and the match began.
I make sure that we catches the ball and throw it inside the net.
The match was going so smoothy and we were secoring goals more than the other team.
The match lasted for one hour before the team was declared as the winner.
“The winner of today’s match is Team White”
The Judge declared us the winner.
On hearing that, the team gathered and carried me up saying we won! We Won! We made it.
Jubilation was everywhere and students were jumping and calling me a champion.
The Yellow Team left the court feeling so shamed.
The excitement was too much, the team was jumping and rolling on the floor to show how excited they are.
For years they have not carried a cu-p so the merriment was something else.
Danny jumped and hvgged me so ti-ght.
“You made it and brou-ght smile to the team”
Danny said and k!$$Ā£d me on the forehead with so much joy.
“Dude! I knew it you will defeat them”
Davey shouted and hvgged me.
“Andrew you have made us the champion and we are proud of you for defeating the Yellow Team and brou-ght smiles to our faces, am so proud of you”
The coach c@mĀ£ over and said and handshaked me.
The match was on the student’sl-ips, singing and rejoicing for the winning make the other team to feel so jealous.
The coach threw a celebr@tion p@rty for the team to show how greatful he is and the winning really cause for a celebr@tion because for years the Team has be losing in the game.
We went home jubilating, my heart was filled with so much joy that am the one that brou-ght smiles to the team’s faces.
“How did the match go?
Annie asked as soon as I stepped into the house.
“We made it Annie! We defeated the Yellow Team! We are now the champion!
I shouted.
I carried her up turning around with so much joy that I don’t even know when I k!$$Ā£d her on the forehead.
“Am sorry! I did not mean to do that, my excited got over me”
I apologized at the moment I realized what I did.
“Is nothing Andrew”
She replied with smiles.
“So tell me what was the Team reactions?
“Happiness is un-derstatement to describe how they felt, the coach even threw a celebr@tion p@rty to show how happy he is”
I sounded still rejoicing.
“What did Jackson and Jude do after seeing the Team won?
“You nee-ded to see their faces, they left the basketball courts feeling so ashamed of themselves”
I shouted.
“They deserve it!
We talked and talked about the match until Mom c@mĀ£ back and I told her about the winning, she was so excited for us.
