Episode 40

“Mirror mirror on the wall, never compare beauty to tell who is the prettiest of all.
Even you are capable to break down to shreds of glas-s and then no one will spare you even a single glance.
You still ask where to find the purest beauty of all.
Then remember the one who dares to mends all your broken pieces of glas-s
As she deserves to be called the prettiest of all.
……………………………………………..
She stood there welcoming her death.
Oblivious to everything else.
Those bright headlights coming near her.
But sadly she couldn’t move a muscle.
An unknown tear escaped those brown eyes as they closed down welcoming her tragic fate.
24 years of existence was all she got and now she had to bid her farewell.
Her thin frame shivered like a leaf, un-der the disastrous storm and even worse destiny.
As the sound of the car engine got closer, she held up her hands in natural defence.
The light got blocked but sadly the impact wouldn’t be.

A sudden warmness was felt on her w@!st and she thought it to be her end.
Blood has warmth she thought, which she never knew of earlier
The warmness moved upwards to enclose her back inside it.
Wasn’t death painful?
Why does it feel like heaven when it should pain like hell?
Deciding to solve the mystery, she opened that doe like eyes.
Her breath got stuck the second they landed on those cold blue eyes of her husband.
3.
The warmness moved on her w@!st, ma-king her realise that it was his t©uçh which made her feel like heaven.
A pu-ll was felt on her w@!st and she landed on his ha-rd che-st.
Her shaking f!ngerslanding on his toned abs which were now visible un-der his drenched shi-t.
He had her enclosed in his arms, ma-king her turn her back to the blinding lights of the car.
While he stood still staring at their approaching death with a dangerous calmness in his eyes.

She gr!pp£dhis shi-t ti-ghtly and pressed her face to his che-st.
Hoping for just one thing.
Miracle
1
A sudden j£rk was felt.
Followed by a loud crash
Peace
It felt too peaceful all of a sudden.
Were they dead?
Surprisingly the warmness near her w@!st was still there and this made her open her eyes and look up.
They landed on his face which looked unt©uçhed, his eyes refused to match her.
Instead, they were fixed on the scene behind her.
Following his stare, she decided to turn around to be only st©pped by the grip of his large hands on the back of her n£¢k.
The only thing which she managed to see was his other extended arm that had a metal object enclosed in it.
The hands which were aiming at something.
Or rather have sh0t down something.
Whimpers left herl-ips.
She was alive?
They were alive?
Her angel….is fine
Listening to her cries, his cold stare left the scene behind her, to look at those quiveringl-ips.
“Shhhh”
He only managed to whisper while tracing her face with his f!ngers.
With the pistol still held in his hand, his f!nger managed to first st©p at her eyes, followed by her nose and finally settling at herl-ips.
She could feel the heat of the nozzle, from where a bullet has just been fired.
But he didn’t intend to put away the pistol just now.
She could see a silencer fitted in it, ma-king her guess the reason of silent fire.
While she was enjoying the victory, he stood there silently an-alysing the scene of the accident behind her.
To which she was oblivious.
A car was on verge of getting b!own up, as clouds of smoke surrounded it.
The tyre was sh0t to make the car divert from the road and hit a nearby tree.
But his eyes were focused on something else, he caught a movement at the seat of the car.
“Can you stand?”
He asked looking at her for just a mere second
She nodded with him unwra-pping her hands from his w@!st.
pu-lling her towards the safety of his car, he opened the car and made her sit inside.
Before she could utter a word, the door was slammed shut at her face.
ma-king her look at him with worried eyes.
She expected him to come and sit at the driver’s seat.
But sadly those were not his intentions
“Stay inside, don’t come near”
He ordered, pu-lling away from her and ma-king his way towards the accidental car.
A cl!çk!ng sound was heard, ma-king her freeze in horror.
He has locked the car.
She realised what he was doing and couldn’t help scream after him.
“Ash no!! It’s going to b!ow up!! Move back!! plea-se…what are you doing..move back!!”
Her eyes had tears in them as she kept pu-lling the handle of the car in desperation.
ban-ging on the closed windows she kept shouting at him to come back.
But sadly he was away from her reach now.
She could see it all.
The start of fire near the engine.
Him moving towards the door and pu-lling it open.
Him dragging someone out of the car.
The fire moving towards the fuel tank.
The sound of approaching police sirens and ambulance.
But she couldn’t do anything.
Her elbows were bruised trying to hit on the glas-s windows.
Her eyes were tired re-ady to welcome the much-awaited darkness.
But she just couldn’t.
She has to see him safe.
He can’t die.
His silhouette was visible, surrounded by flames and smoke.
He held someone in his arms as he made his towards a nearby tree and place the b©dy down.
Leaving her b©dy rested on the safety of the tree.
He turned around to look at her.
His cold stare landed on those worried eyes of his wife.
He genuinely smiled at her, ma-king her melt the very second.
She could see hope.
He will be fine.
Placing her hand on her heart, she sighed in relief.
Each step he took towards her felt torturous.
Each second felt like hours.
He was a few feet ap@rt now.
But then suddenly, all her hopes crashed like a fli-ckering candle.
A loud blast was seen ma-king the very glas-s of her car to vibr@te.
Her car shook violently, ma-king her duck down her head in safety.
Sha-rd s of glas-s rained over her as she held her head in her hands for defence.
Silence
The deafening silence was all she could hear.
Her hearing ability felt impaired for a minute or so.
As the high decibels numbe-d her s-en-ses.
The realisation c@m£ upon her and she tried lifting herself up from her safe corner.
Havoc surrounded her.
Burning pieces of tires and metal.
Black clouds of smoke
Suffocating smell of burning ru-bber.
Her eyes only looked for one person, but sadly he couldn’t be found anywhere.
With heart-throbbing thinking of the worst-case scenario.
She managed to come out of the safety of the car throu-gh the escape route of a broken window.
She looked at the same place where he stood a few seconds ago.
Nothing.
Moving towards it with shaking legs she cried with desperation.
“Ash…. plea-se… plea-se be safe…….”
Tears were rolling down her cheeks without her even knowing.
To make it worse she felt like something was building up inside her.
Something which was ma-king her light-headed and tired.
Something which her b©dy was trying to tell her but she couldn’t un-derstand.
Ignoring it she kept moving forward, her eyes landing on the person who single handedly destroyed her whole life.
“plea-se…save…..me”
c@m£ a desperately cry from behind the tree.
Elle’s moist eyes sp©tted the source.
“Elle child….I am sorry…. plea-se… don’t give me to the police…..I…beg…. plea-se-”
Elle felt pity for her which she knew she should not feel.
She should shoot a bullet throu-gh her thick skull for all that she did to her.
But sadly she couldn’t.
The goodness in her st©pped her from killing her, just the way she killed her mother.
Taking away her gaze from her, she looked around for him.
And that’s when she saw him.
Surrounded by the policeman and medical staff.
He was ma-king his way towards her on a limping leg.
Blood was all she saw on him.
His clothes were all red.
There was a de-ep wound on his forehead that was seeping with blood, but he didn’t look much bothered.
His anxious eyes were only fixed on her worried ones.
Closing the distance between them, she literally ran towards him and engulfed him.
He stumbled a bit due to his injured leg, but still managed to catch her.
“You….you…scared me….I… thought..m …I….lost you…I hate you….how….how co-”
He smiled at her words and ti-ght£ñed his grip on her.
The words he spoke next, made her go silent.
“I love you….I love you so much dammit! ”
pu-lling her back, his eyes scrutinised her to see if she has suffered from any injuries.
cu-pping her face in his hands, he asked her one question again and again.
“I am so sorry….so fv¢k*** sorry for getting you into this mess…are you fine Ell?
Does it hurt anywhere? ”
She wanted to tell him about her light-headedness and the feeling of numbness in her lim-bs.
But she refrained.
He alre-ady looked so worried, she just wanted to look at that smiling face of his again.
She just wanted to hear him say he loves her, one more time again.
Moving her head in a no, she managed to give him a sad smile with tears still streaming down her cheeks.
His f!ngerscleaned the trail of her salty tears, as he looked into her eyes in concern.
“Then why are you crying? Does it hurts anywhere..tell me, Ell!”
He was desperate for her answer and she loved seeing his emotions for the first time.
It was today that she saw his raw emotion, without any veil of coldness or secrets.
“I am fine….I ….just …can you plea-se say it again..”
Her vision was going blurry but she refused to show.
Her b©dy temperature was falling drastically and the beating heart in her che-st was forgetting its beat.
He smiled to her demand and next she knows, his other hand ti-ght£ñed on her w@!st and pu-ll-ed her towards him.
“I love you Mrs Elle Lockwood….for have loved you since the day I traced this face of yours 24 years back.
I have loved you even before I knew what love was.
For you are the very definition to the word love my dear Elle”
She smiled as she found her heaven.
Her struggles were coming to an end.
Her grip around his n£¢k was getting weak, as she found the face of her dreams drifting away in half-sleep.
Her shaking f!ngersmanaged to t©uçh his face and trace his features.
Just like he did to her earlier.
Those thin f!ngersmoved from his thick brows to his perfect nose.
Further from those cold eyes to those k!ssablel-ips.
Her hands were losing their mobility, they felt numb.
But before this numbness spre-ads to her entire b©dy.
She had to feel his features one last time.
With a lingering t©uçh on hisl-ips, she smiled trying to hide her sadness.
He got fooled by her fake smile and fulfilled her last wish without her even uttering.
He k!$$£d her with all the love he kept hidden all these years.
She responded but only for a first few second.
He wanted to hear her say it.
To tell him that she loved him as much as he did.
But sadly the only thing he got in return was silence.
s-en-sing her stillness, the smile vanished from hisl-ips and he pu-ll-ed back from the k!ss.
Those brown eyes were closed on him.
Her hands were no longer around his n£¢k but were hanging lifelessly.
“Elle?”
He asked, fear of losing her evident in his voice.
But sadly there was no reply.
His f!ngerstapped on her face, hoping for those dull eyes to open up.
But sadly they didn’t.
Only when he saw her b©dy suddenly j£rking in a seizure kind of a thing did he un-derstood the depth of reality.
Her hands started turning blue first, followed by herl-ips.
His hand ru-bbe-d her cold ones, his warml-ips tried warming those freezingl-ips.
But to no avail.
The medical staff rushed in, ma-king him hold her up and make his way towards the ambulance.
His injured leg no longer mattered as his eyes were only fixed on her closed ones.
The loud sirens were the only thing he could hear, her whole b©dy was changing colour and he could see his hope dying away every second.
He could see but do nothing.
Except sit there like and wait.
They reached to only have him p@rt away from her.
As the lights of ICU were switched on, he waited outside with tears streaming down his eyes.
He journey to regret was just beginning when he thought it was a happy ending.
…………………………………………….
“Mr Ashton Lockwood?”
He stood up from his seat, to be followed by others.
Elle’s father, step mother, Rose, Jake, Lorena.
All c@m£ rushing when they got the news.
All of them were anxiously waiting for the doctors next words.
But the doctor was only looking at Ashton’s dead eyes.
“You are her husband right?”
Shame on you for calling yourself that.
His voice of regret spoke inside him and he nodded with new tears leaving his eyes.
“Can I talk to you in pri-vate? ”
Ashton nodded and followed the doctor to his pri-vate cabin.
While others stood there in anticipation.
“It was an anaphylactic reaction. The drug she was injected with must have caused it.”
Ashton listened in silence, his fist clenching at the realisation that his stupidness has caused this.
“This kind of reaction is very rare but again there are exceptions.
We have done all that we can but sadly things don’t look good”
Ashton looked up as his throat suddenly went dry.
“You must be aware that she is almost 22 weeks pregnant.
I am sorry to say Mr Lockwood but we can only try saving one of them.”
The words made him go in a state of shock.
All the energy left his b©dy, as he nearly fell down back on his seat.
“You see if we try saving her..the medications will definitely harm the child…or the child will have br@in damage or other abnormalities.
Even if we are successful…the chances of the child surviving later…are very rare”
He killed his own child…how inhuman he can be.
His stupidness caused all this.
He will never be able to forgive himself.
He was a murderer.
“Sir plea-se we nee-d an answer right now. .her situation is deteriorating…can-”
“Save my wife.”
Were the only words hisl-ips could whisper.
His eyes stared at the papers in front of him.
The papers he is required to sign for giving his approval for killing his own child
“plea-se sign here”
His shaking hands signed the papers to only have his signature to be we-tted by his own teardrops.
The doctor placed an as-suring hand on his shoulder, as Ashton stared at the papers with lifeless eyes.
“Trust in God. We will try our best”
” Excuse me, Sir!
A nurse called him with concern evident on her face.
But he sat there lost in his own world.
“Sir!!”
Only when she tapped his shoulder did his tired eyes looked up at her.
“Huh? What?”
“You wound is bleeding again…I nee-d to clean it”
He looked down and nodded.
ma-king the nurse go and get her supplies.
Trail of dried blood was getting cleaned by the cotton dub, but he looked least concerned.
His eyes only fixed on the person lying on the hospital be-d, with tubes plugged in everywhere.
The rectangular glas-s window of the room only gave him access to her slight view, but it was enough for him to reflect on the reality of the situation.
The nurse expected him to wince as she operated without anaesthesia, but to her surprise, he looked inhuman.
His face was stone cold with eyes drowning in pools of regret.
Those hands were pressed together, clutching each other as if they were his only support.
His leg moving frantically, showing the anxiousness of his mind.
“Ash …what did the doctor say?”
Lorena c@m£ towards him along with others.
Her voice sounded strained like she had shed her own share of tears.
Everyone surrounded him to ask for answers, but sadly he was burdened un-der his own weight of regret.
He was deaf to them and their interrogation.
“Tell me, Ash!! Tell me what did you do!! I told you dammit!! I told you to tell her everything!!
“You….you promised me you will keep her safe!!!”
She shook his entire frame in anger and that was when he listened to her frustrated cries.
His mouth opened but sadly no word left.
“She is carrying your child goddamit!! How could you leave her to that witch!!”
This time it was Jake, his cries echoing the silent halls of the hospital
.
“You should be ashamed to call yourself her husband….she loved you like crazy…she rejected me just to be with an egoistic bastard like you!! She…..she said she will always remain faithful to you….she loved you and you repay her love like this!!”
His words hit the right nerve.
Ashton felt his world break down at his feet.
His lifeless eyes landed on those bloodsh0t ones that made him ashamed of his selfish love.
“If anything happens to her….if …I will fv¢k*** kill you!!”
Jake had now gr@bb£d his collar and pushed him back.
To only make Ashton’s numb lifeless b©dy to land on the seats at back.
Lorena had st©pped Jake to only have him scream profanities at him.
“You don’t deserve her!! You are nothing in front of her!!
You as-s****!! You bas***!!
Leave me Lorena..I will murder him today!!”
Ash had instead turned his back on everyone.
The nurse ran behind him but his steps refused to st©p.
Getting out of the building, his legs gave out and he held onto a railing for support.
He was wrong.
His plans may have gotten successful but the cost has overweighted everything.
The day Veronica called him to her warehouse if he hadn’t gone willingly to her…her men would have dragged him there.
If he didn’t agree to her terms of letting her kidnap Elle, she would have sh0t him on the sp©t.
The kidnapping helped him get the pictures and inform the police.
He was able to prove that Veronica has kidnapped Elle with the intension of murder and property sham.
And the news was now all over the media.
The entire world now knew of Veronica Knight ugly truths.
But sadly his victory has cost him everything.
His fire for revenge was quenched.
He was able to give justice to Elle’s mom and thousands of others who get tra-pped in this illegal business of drugs.
But his heart….it was in shreds.
Control yourself, Ashton… it’s fine…you are fine…
Our child…my….
Sobs silenced his next words as he punched a nearby wall to vent out his frustration.
The cemented wall had traces of blood as he continued his madness.
Bone breaking sounds could be heard followed by numbness.
He continued punching non-st©p.
When suddenly her smiling face c@m£ in front of his eyes.
Her earlier words echoing in his ears.
” You are hurting yourself Ash…plea-se let me heal you.. plea-se”
His punch st©pped and he froze for a moment.
Her velvety voice, the only thing drumming in his ears.
” I will fix you, my dear husband…I will fix you to immortality even if I have to break myself to perishability ”
New tears escaped his eyes as he realised just how much true her words c@m£ out to be.
He destroyed her completely, and ir repairable
He was at fault….the only person to be blamed for this is he himself.
You are a murderer Ashton…you killed your own child….that innocent heart that just learned to beat…you killed it!!
The voices in his head made him gr-ab onto his head.
Moving his head in a no, his footsteps moved back away from the wall.
His boots hit the gravel behind, with the mind in total turmoil.
” A person like you nee-ds more help than I do”
Her earlier words ringing in his ears and he can’t help hating himself more.
Oh, how right you were Elle…I nee-ded help and you being selfless was the only one who tried soothing the heart of this monster.
But now….I killed our child Elle!!
I killed our Angel.
I deserve all the pain…all the suffering that you are going throu-gh,
A honking sound was heard in the background.
His hazy eyes took note of a car coming his way and giving him di-ppers.
His shaking legs managed to sidestep on time.
To only have the driver scream at him.
“Go die in front of any other car you psycho!! ”
Ignoring it, his eyes looked up to gaze at the hospital building.
His heart again sank from pain, as he imagined the pain she is going throu-gh because of her.
” Love can never cause regret”
He smiled at this.
How wrong you were Elle…regret is the only thing love gave me.
I don’t deserve you, Elle…I don’t deserve you after everything.
He wanted to leave…to go away from her life.
For he thought himself to be an ecli-pse to her illuminating lights.
But he can’t be a coward right now.
Accepting his mistakes is the only way out of this burden of guilt.
Running from it will only make it go dee-per.
Drying those traitorous tears with the sleeve of his arm, he straightened up.
Back to his usual sober state.
He won’t let her go, he will beg every second of his life if he has to.
But he can’t live without her.
If you truly love someone, you plead, you regret, you beg but you never leave them.
“He doesn’t love me….he will never love me…I am not up to his standards….he…he is ashamed of me…like everyone…he …will also leave me…”
Earlier words that she spoke to Maria proved it.
She nee-ds him and this time he will prove to her his love.
“I will stand by your side Elle…forever in shade and sunlight,
in happiness and in pain.
With the only hope of seeing your beautiful eyes to open up again.”
……………………………………………..
A loud cl@p was heard in the hallway of the hospital.
Ashton closed his eyes, accepting all the pain and humiliation coming his way.
The f0rç£ behind the sl@p has made his right profile, go numb for a few minutes.
And his father’s voice was heard as a ringing echo.
“I am ashamed of you!! You don’t deserve to be called my son…I….I married you to her….I thought you will love her and cherish her….
that innocent soul is there fighting for her life…….tell me Son..tell me what crimes has that girl committed?
What was her fault in all this??”
Her only fault is that she loved a person like me
His conscience spoke in his mind.
He stood there staring at the tiles floor.
Unable to meet his father’s disappointed face and his mother’s hatred.
His collar was gr@bb£d by his father’s wrinkled hands, as he shook him to his s-en-ses.
“I will tell you….her fault was that she loved a bastard like you!! A selfish person like you who only cared about himself…your business…your revenge…your ego….!! What about her!!”
“Dad… plea-se…I…I..am sor-”
“Don’t you dare utter that word ….sorry??….your fv¢k*** sorry can’t do sh**!!
I…I am at fault..I ruined that innocent girl life by marrying her to you…..I should have known beforehand ….and now ….”
Henry was at the verge of tears as Jane placed a hand on his shoulder to calm him down.
“Do you see this Jane?…this is the Son you were so proud of….a bloody disgrace!!
His father never said those words to him.
Each and every minute of his life he has worked…just for one thing.
To make his father proud and today he ruined it all.
New tears escaped those dead eyes, as redness rimmed in their corners.
“Henry … plea-se I know he is at fault…just look at him…he is alre-ady suffering.. plea-se just calm down..”
“Calm down?? You ask me to calm down when my grandchild….when…when my little bundle of joy…is struggling for every breath….when my daughter in law is struggling between life and death….
I can’t….I can’t calm down Jane!!
Their conversation was interrupted as Lorena c@m£ running in.
Her eyes held worry and she looked short of breath.
Ashton looked at her, afraid to hear her next words.
“Ash….Ash….she …..Elle….is going into a state of shock….I don’t know…the doctors …they were rushing in…I asked but they didn’t tell me…hu-”
He bolted throu-gh the corridors with everyone at his trail.
His turbulent mind was not able to even run properly..as he crashed into people on his way.
His steps halted only when he approached that glas-s fitted square window door.
His desperate eyes trying to look past the bodies of doctors and nurses surrounding her.
A glimpse was all he got, but it was enough to bring his entire world comes crashing down to his feet.
The velvety skin he k!$$£d every inch of.
Was now discoloured with patches of red everywhere.
Her b©dy…the one he worsh!pped entire nights.
Was getting shocked by a machine which s£nt her into waves of pain.
And that face…the face he called ugly all his life.
The face that still he longed to see every night.
Was swollen beyond recognition.
This was the last straw, all his control…all his regrets c@m£ crashing in as his b©dy slid down the door.
No tears were left to escape.
No words could make him feel better again.
Everyone stood there in an aura of regret and pain.
Cries of all those who did her bad were echoing in the halls, and sadly the one who always smiled and said everything will be fine.
Was herself the victim this time.
Jane sat next to her Son, pu-lling him over for a much-nee-ded hvg.
He broke down in his mother’s arms.
“Mom…I….she doesn’t deserve…I….I…did it…-”
“Shh….just be quiet….she will be fine… don’t worry.”
“But mom….my child…I lost….I can’t lose her as well…I can’t live without her….I can’t…..”
She moved her hands throu-gh his hair, calming him down.
Her scared eyes were waiting for doctors to come out any second, but still, she kept a br@ve front for the sake of her son.
Holding his face in her hands, she spoke firmly.
“Don’t blame yourself Ashton…. nothing will happen.”
Pains of agony and cries of regret continued to surround the operation room.
As Ashton slowly fell into his mother’s arm unconscious.
Her worried eyes landed on his face to see the paleness and pains he tried his best to hide.
The stone-cold man has finally surrendered to whims of destiny.
His b©dy finally surrendered to the battle of regret and soon everyone realised that the height of iceberg above the water, was nothing compared to its depth beneath it.
For his depths were not visible to the n-ked eye, but she surely was able to dive in de-ep throu-gh.
…………………………………………..
He woke up with stiffness in his b©dy.
The throbbing in his head had subdued and he looked around anxiously.
There stood his mother and father, looking happy for once after so long.
The smiles on their faces were genuine, as they stared at something or rather someone.
Confused he tried to sit up with the support of his elbows.
His eyes fell on a glas-s box kind of a thing, and his forehead had creases in confusion.
“Mom?”
He called in his hoarse voice, to only have her turn around towards him.
“Come Son…come here”
Confused he stood up and started walking towards her.
His hands holding on to the be-d for support.
As he c@m£ closer, the first thing his eyes fell on was a very tiny fist.
Intrigued, he stepped forward to have his heart st©p for the second time.
Except that this time, it was from happiness.
A small angel was lying there, covered by tubes.
The head was still to grow hair, brows were still to develop their shape and those eyes, they were still to open up.
The little che-st was moving up and down and this alone made him move closer to realise if this was reality or a dream.
But one thing that stood out the most was a wonder.
A crescent-shaped birthmark adored the child’s shoulder.
“Born at 12:48, few weeks premature.
Doctors have to keep him in observation for the next few weeks.
Doctors said him surviving this was a miracle.”
Ashton’s f!ngerstraced the glas-s, as a smile automatically c@m£ on hisl-ips.
But it vanished the second he realised the cost of this happiness.
His child was alive… breathing but does this mean?
His wi-de eyes met his mom’s happy ones.
“Wh…ere is she?”
The second he asked the question, her smile vanished to be replaced by sadness.
“I asked where is Elle mom!!”
The desperation in his voice made her answer in a low tone.
“She is serious.. doctor s are not saying anything…room 107”
He turned around to reach her as soon as possible.
105
106
..
.
His steps halted outside her door.
Team of doctors stood there, engaged in discussion
“No we can’t….it is biphasic anaphylaxis…this was the second attack…plus…she just survived a cardiac arrest!’
“My past experiences show that there is a 90% risk in this…but we don’t have a choice…if we leave it here only…then anything can happen”
“All her organs have alre-ady suffered a b!ow…her central nervous system shows symptoms of damage…. putting more pressure on any can ruin everything.”
“This will get complicated if she doesn’t wake up in next few hours….let’s discuss with others first”
The doctors were gone, ma-king him run inside her room.
Within seconds he had held her hands in his as he showered countless k!sses on them.
The tubes on her hands or their redness didn’t st©p him from k!ss!ngthem.
His shaking hands managed to t©uçh her silken locks, that surrounded her pillowed head.
He couldn’t speak, the beeping of the heart monitor being the only sound surrounding them.
“Elle………..Elle?”
He was only able to utter her name, everything else seemed to fade away.
Her closes eyes, the only focus of his attention.
“Pl…ease…..ugly duckling….wake up….I….”
He couldn’t look at her any longer, every second felt like torture.
You can’t see the ones you love in pain.
His eyes remained fixed on her slender f!ngersintervened with his.
“You are not allowed to visit the patient…plea-se move out sir”
A doctor said, ma-king him look up at him.
“Wh…at is happening to her….how is she…”
“The reaction caused her blood pressure levels to fall drastically, leading to a cardiac arrest.
The swelling… it’s blocking everything….it’s hampering the immune system, respiratory system…central nervous system.
If the swelling doesn’t go away in the next few hours….it will be very difficult.”
The heart that taught her to beat was losing its beat.
He can’t let this happen..she can’t die in front of his eyes.
He can’t just wait and watch her die.
“Call the best doctors… don’t worry about funds…just get the t©p doctors in the world…I….she has to live…”
“They are the best Sir….your father alre-ady arranged the best in the country.
But no one can do anything… it’s how her b©dy responds to it.”
He moved his head in a no…they have to do something…he can’t lose her.
Why don’t these people un-derstand?
gr-abbing the doctor by his collar he roared at him.
“She has to live!! Why don’t you un-derstand!! She can’t leave me..she can’t die!!”
The doctor tried to break free his grip, trying to step back from him.
“We are not God Sir…we can only try our best”
His words made him lose his grip.
How ironic were his words?
The same words he has spoken to her when Sammy had died.
“We are not God”
He never felt so helpless before
God has finally taught him the lesson he wanted to.
” Value what you have for who they are,
For flaws don’t make them unattrac-tive.
Instead, they are the very source of their uniqueness which is way better than their perfection.”
He was not going to leave her hand no matter what.
Holding onto her hand firmly, he was re-ady to stand by her side till she was fighting the biggest battle of her life.
“You can do it my dear Ugly duckling, for this ugly frog will patiently wait for your k!ss….as it is only your k!ssthat has the power to turn him back into a prince”
