Skyler’s POV (Two days before the attack)
” What brings you here, young man? ” he asked as he poured a little amount of br@ndy into two glas-ses. I watched his move, carefully, knowing that this man is wise and very dangerous.
” You stay away from her ” I calmly said but with a hint of threat.
” And why should I do that? ” he mocked as he popped some ice cubes into the glas-ses. ” br@ndy? ” he offered but I just stared at the glas-s wear with no intentions of accepting it. I heard him chuckle before placing the glas-s on a table.
” Suit yourself. But I tell you, young man, you can’t st©p me. No one will, ” he said as he placed one of his hands in his pocket and swirled the br@ndy around with his other hand. Now that I’m actually talking to him, face-to-face, I can finally see the resemblance of him and Sapphire.
“Am warning you Alpha Lawrence, l@yone f!nger on her and I as-sure you, I’ll make your existence an history in 6months. I swear on my father’s grave!” I said with a stern face.
” Don’t worry, young man. I won’t hurt my own daughter I just want to have her back in my arms, ” he said and drank his br@ndy all in one go. My fists clutched at what he said. What p@rt of ‘Stay away from her’ does he not get?
“Really? You think i don’t know your intentions? You think i don’t know she’s a comet bearer? You think i don’t know you intend to use her for the immortality ritual? How could you? Your own daughter? And because of your own selfish interest you’re gonna kill her in cold blood? You’re pathetic!” I spat at his face.
“Wow, that’s really impressive, I see you’ve done your homework, and i must say, you’re really like your father, Skyler ” he said with a sm-irk on his face.
My brows crea-sed at his remark. He knows my father? Maybe my calculations were right after all. I wasn’t sure, but i nee-d to confirm now
” What do you mean? ” I asked in confusion.
” Ulysses was my bestfriend. He’s always been my p@rtner in crime he was like a brother to me. Well, that was until he found out about my intentions to use my daughter for the immortality ritual. He bec@m£ furious and questioned me as though sapphire was his own daughter, in order to prevent me from sacrificing my daughter, he faked her death. He burnt my house down ma-king me think my daughter was in it. Ulysses and Katherine, took Harieth (sapphire) together with their son to another state. And yes, that son is you, Skyler. But before i got to know all this———– My wife had died as a result of the trauma and grief following our daughter’s death, I made some background research and it showed that some packs were responsible for the fire, but of cos, it was a false information I later found out that my friend Ulysses was the man behind the fire, although I was puzzled as to why he will do such thing, I made no attempt to interrogate him, so i did to him what he did to me, i set his house on fire. It wasn’t until few months ago that I figure out he actually took sapphire with him and only burnt an empty house, but it was too late. If i knew Sapphire was alive i wouldn’t have killed him”
my eyes wi-de-ned in shock at what he said, I was fuming in rage and anger, i can feel my wolf re-ady to take over.
“You mothèrfv¢king bàstard son of a bit-ch !!! You Killed my parents and dare say it to my face?”
I raged, I fli-pped the table and pu-ll-ed him up with his clothes, ma-king me have to raise my eyes to meet his gaze. His men made to attack but he simply st©pped them with a hand gesture. My findings had shown that he’s the one responsible for the death of my parents but i wasn’t very sure. Not until he just confirmed it himself.
“Careful Skyler, one word from me and you’re a breathless meat” I looked around and counted his men to be five.
“I can take them” I hissed at him.
“I know Skyler, but not when i lead the fight” He said with a wi-de grin plastered on his face. And it only made me angrier.
I threw him ha-rd against the wall and he went crashing into objects. His men tried to attack again but he ordered them to st©p.
He’s right anyway, if i try to fight him along with his men there’s almost a zero percent chance I’ll come out alive. Fighting him alone won’t be ‘a walk in the park’. Then i remembered one of my dad’s favorite phrase ‘A wise warrior knows when to leave the fight for another day’.
“I will kill you Lawrence, even if it’s the last thing i do on earth” I told him. And with that, i sped away

” We can’t let this happen, Alpha ” Jonathan, one of our pack members said as we gathered around the dining room.
” I’m aware of that. I won’t let anyone take my mate, speak less of using her for some pesky ritual, not even her father ” Adrian said as his jaw ti-ght£ñed and fists clutched.
I told everyone in the Council about what happened and just like me, they were all shocked and flabberg@sted. I mean, who wouldn’t? Lawrence, one of the most strongest Alphas in the Lycan World is actually the father of the mate of also one of the most strongest Alphas which is Adrian. And turns out he doesn’t just want Sapphire back for re-union purposes, he wanted to use her for rituals. What a father!
” We nee-d to map out a plan, fast! Before they could even make a move ” Thun-der said as he slammed both of his hands on the table. I remained silent during the whole meeting not until Peter, our pack’s mess£nger arrived with a brown envelope in his hands.
” Good afternoon. I have a mail for Alpha Adrian, ” he politely greeted and handed the envelope to Adrian. Adrian stared at it for a few minutes before getting it. Peter walked away after that and we all turned our heads to Adrian who is staring at the still unopened envelope.
“Who’s it from?” I can’t help but to ask. Somehow, I have a feeling that something bad is going to happen. And it creeps the fu-ck out of me! Dammit!
“No name” he shortly, said. He stared at it for another minute before heaving out a heavy sigh and slowly opened it.
” Well? ” just like everyone else, we were anticipating for his answer. We were eager to know what the freaking hell is inside.
” I didn’t expect it was this soon, ” was all he said before throwing the paper that was inside the envelope in front of us. I can’t help but to feel anger as I re-ad the paper.

Sapphire’s POV
I woke up with the sunlight beaming at my face. I slowly opened my eyes and adjusted to the light. When I finally composed myself, I looked around and found myself in an empty room with only one window. Where am I?
I slowly got up on my feet but somehow, my b©dy is too weak and heavy which caused me to fall back down. My face cringed at the pain I felt on my shoulders and legs. Damn, I feel so helpless. Due to over-fatigue and numbness of my b©dy, I decided to just sit on the floor waiting for a Prince to k!ssme and then the curse will finally lift up but then I turned out to be an ogre named Fiona. On the serious side, I just decided to sit back and tried to remember everything that happened yesterday.
Oh my, gosh! Adrian!
I started to panic when I remembered what happened yesterday. He was sh0t with an arrow and I just left him there! Dammit! My eyes started to pool in tears just thinking about him. I tried mind linking him several times but there was no response at all! And with that, my tears started to fall, slowly. I don’t want to as-sume that he’s alre-ady gone. I can still feel him, I can still feel his love. And he promised me he’ll come back for me. He can’t just die.
” Oh, you’re alre-ady awake ” someone suddenly c@m£ in which disturbe-d me with my thoughts. I looked at her and anger started to build up inside me. I still can’t believe she betrayed her own pack. I thought she was our friend but turns out, she just befriended all of us. Damnation.
” Eat up, ” Alice said and placed a tray of food in front of me but I didn’t even take a glance at it, instead I was busy glaring at her. She sighed and sat down beside me but I moved away from her not bothering the pain in my b©dy. I used to trust her but now, I can’t even look at her without feeling hatred. I was deceived by someone whom I call a ‘friend’.
” Why are you doing this? Why did you betray your own pack? ” I asked in confusion. I don’t get her at all. I know how much she loves Thirst Blood pack and it really puzzles me why she did this not only to the pack but also to me.
” Sapphire, am really sorry for what happened to you and am sorry I pla-yed a p@rt in it. I never intended to hurt you.”
****Flash back****
Alice’s POV
After me and Jax had dinner, we decided to stroll around to have some quality time.
He brou-ght me to a cliff where we can see the whole city. It was absolutely beautiful, and it bec@m£ more mesmerizing since it was night time and you can actually see the city lights.
we hadn’t used up to 30 minutes on the cliff when we heard ruffling sounds from the trees, we didn’t have enough time to process the situation as more than ten werewolves ambushed us.
They immediately sh0t something at Jax and he fell to the ground
“Jax” I screamed his name as I knelt beside him, he seems to be in serious pain, “what did you do to him you bastards!” I yelled at the wolves who had just ambushed us. They all stared at me as though am some robot whose sound system has been placed on mute.
“W-wo-wolfsbane” I heard Jax whisper silently but loud enough for me to hear. And then he pas-sed out. My eyes lighten up in shock, I placed my ears close to his che-st, he was still breathing, but it was faint. If he doesn’t get the antidote for the wolfsbane in the next 30 minutes he’s gonna die.
“Where is the antidote you fxcktards!” I screamed on t©p of my lungs as I made to attack them, I don’t care if am outnumbered, I just got my mate and am not losing him.
One c@m£ launching at me with his fist, ‘bad choice’ I held his fist just inches to my face then fli-pped him over the cliff, I heard him scream down the axis till his voice bec@m£ faint. The others looked shocked, I smiled at myself, they must have expected this to be an easy catch, too bad I won’t make it easy for them.
They all attacked me in numbers, they had knives in their belts but they ain’t ma-king use of it. From their tactics I observed they ain’t fighting to kill me, they must intend to capture me, so I decide to use that to my advantage, I pu-ll-ed the knife from one and stuck in the belly of another. The guy I stabbe-d held my hand still in his stomach, and that allowed the other to hit me and got me in a defenseless position.
“Wow! Wow!! Wow!!!” A tall man suddenly c@m£ out from the woods, cl@pping his hands. From his scent and aura I knew he’s an Alpha.
“My most sincerest apologies guys, I forget to warn you she’s a fighter, where the last one of you?” He asked. They all pointed to the cliff I had thrown my first victim earlier.
“Ouch!” He exclaimed Covering his mouth in a jestful manner.
Then he turned to me.
“Hello Alice”

“What do you want from me and my mate? ” I spat at him.
“Uhm, actually I want nothing from your mate, I only nee-d your help, and let’s say your mate is just a collateral damage, or should I say Insurance” He said with a wi-de grin plastered on his face.
This man is disgusting. I thought.
“What do you want? ” I questioned.
He reached for something in his pocket and there, I saw him with a picture in his hand.
” Do you recognize this girl? ” he asked as he showed to me the picture he was holding. It was a little girl pla-ying with a beautiful woman in the park. I looked at the girl closely before I realized who it was. I g@sped in shock.
” Yes, dear. This little girl is Sapphire or should I say Harieth—- my daughter ” he said,
“What do you mean?” I questioned.
“My Name Is Lawrence, Alpha of Midnight pack, and Your friend, Sapphire is my daughter.” He said, giving me a raised eyebrow.
Wow, so Skyler and Sapphire are not real siblings? And if Alpha Lawrence is Sapphire’s biological father then that means, Saph is the heir of their pack which makes her an Alpha?!
” What are you trying to say to me? Why do you nee-d my help?” I asked him. I don’t get his point. Why is he telling me all of this?
” That’s because you’re the only person who’s close to Sapphire. As much as possible I want my daughter to be with me. I want to reconcile with her.
I nee-d you to get me the map to your pack’s territory. Cause am aware Adrian won’t re-lease my daughter. Am breaking her out, and you’re helping me” he said with a tone of finality in his voice.
” I can’t do that. That’s impossible! I won’t betray my pack just to help you! what will you even do if I don’t? ” I asked, challenging him. I saw him sm-irk which gave me goosebu-mps.
“Your mate has 15 more minutes to live, he said pointing at a breathless Jax on the floor and staring at his wrist watch. Tears quic-kly welled up in my eyes and I allow them fall freely. He di-pped his hand into his pocket and brou-ght out two bottles.
” If you agree to help me, see this bottle?” He said pointing to the bottle with blue contents.
“It will prevent the poison from flowing into his heart for the next 72 hours. Now after you’ve done all that I ask of you. I will hand you the real antidote that will kill off the poison.” He said with a tone of sincerity which made me believe him.
Now am torn between two paths, Betray my pack and save my mate?
Or
Stay loyal to my pack and let my mate die.

Sapphire’s POV
I didn’t know my mouth has been opened the whole time until she finished her story. Then I felt pity for her, to be Frank I think she had no choice, I mean even me I would have done the same. Who wouldn’t?
Though I was in pain, I drew close to her and hvgged her. She was surprised at my actions but she hvgged me back nevertheless.
Though am yet to digest everything she told me, I still tried to remain calm, I mean it’s not everyday that you find out your father is not your father.
“Sapphire” She whispered my name as we pu-ll-ed from the hvg.
“There’s a big problem” She said with tears in her eyes as she looked at me with pity. This made really confused, of cause am aware we’re in trouble but with the way she’s staring at me I couldn’t help but think that there are more disastrous details am yet to find out.
“What other problem? ” I asked, utterly confused.
“Alpha Lawrence does not want you back just for reconciliation purposes, he intends to use you for the immortality ritual.” She said as she broke into sobs and started crying.
“Alice plea-se st©p crying, explain to me what’s the immortality ritual? ” I pleaded.
“Every 100 years a werewolf is born with the comet mark. They are called the comet bearer, They have special abilities like increa-sed speed, strength, ability to heal after injury, and so on, and only the comet bearer’s blood can be used to perform the immortality ritual. Legend has it that anyone who performs the immortality ritual will live till eternity, possessing the power to resurrect after death again and again.” She narrated.
“So how does all this concern me? ” I asked becoming more confused.
“Sapphire you’re the comet bearer” She announced.
I suddenly bur-st into laughter. She looked at me like am someone who had just lost her sanity.
“Seriously, let me remind you, in case you forgot, when you were explaining the other time, you said the comet bearer has special abilities like increa-sed strength and etc. I have none of that. And by the way, I have no comet mark on me” I screamed at her face.
“The mark only appear on the bearer in his/her first month (as a baby) it goes away on the second month of birth then reappear on the day of the bearer’s 21st birthday. And that is when the abilities I have mentioned earlier start to surface. The moon goddess has made it like this to protect the bearer from people like your father when she’s defenseless.” She explained.
My jaw suddenly dropped, something in me told me she’s saying the truth.
And it was then it hit me. They lied. Skyler and Adrian lied! They told me someone’s after them when in fact, it’s me someone’s after. I can’t help but to g@sp in shock. Tears started to form in my eyes again and the next thing I knew, I was alre-ady crying with my knees close to my che-st.
I can’t believe they did all of this just to protect me. And now, all my loved ones are in danger because of me! How can I be so foolish?! I should’ve known they lied just to keep me safe! I feel so guilty and bad! What if something bad happens to them?! I’d never forgive myself if that happens.
I tried mind linking Sky but I just got a blank response. No one’s answering my links even Kayla! Oh my gosh! Tell me this is all just a dream. This is all just a horrible nightmare!
“I have a plan” Alice spoke up, snapping me back to reality.
“When I leave this place I am going to Alpha Lawrence to collect the antidote for the Wolfsbane in Jax’s system. After giving It to Jax, I’ll sneak out to our pack and find Adrian.
” You can’t Alice, Adrian has been captured” I informed.
“I know, but don’t worry, I know where to find him. Jax promised to help out too. I promise I will make it up to you.” She said with sincerity clearly evident in her voice. And with that I pu-ll-ed her close and hvgged her ti-ghtly.
Skyler’s POV
” Didn’t I tell you to fu-cking stay away from her? ” I asked in gritted teeth as I glared at him. I tried to escape from these chains that was locked on my ankle but it was made out of wolf’s bane so it was useless and it hurts like fu-ck. He just looked at me and directly averted his gaze and gave me an uninterested look.
” I told you alre-ady, no one’s going to st©p me ” He answered.
“I will Lawrence, and am going to kill you, for trying to hurt Sapphire and for the death of my parents.” I fumed. He just scoffed as if my words meant nothing. He went out of my cell and told the guard at the cell gate.
“Remind me to kill him tomorrow” And with that he slammed the gate close and left.
” Damn it! ” I yelled and punched the wall beside me. I nee-d to get out of here as soon as possible. I mind linked almost all pack members and I got no response at all. I sniff the air and I smelled somewhat like a chemical, I think it’s preventing us from mind linking or even smell other wolves. Damn! I nee-d to think, fast!
I tried my best and I was practically having tantrums right now. I was getting wild and I know sooner or later, my wolf’s going to take control over me.
At this point, there’s only one person running throu-gh my head.
” Sapphire… ” “Sapphire”
I was unable to mindlink her or Adrian. The last time I saw her she left with Adrian.
ban-g! I looked at the cell gate to see Adrian Snapping the n£¢k of the guard at my cell gate. He s£nt a ha-rd punch to the gate and it flew open.
“How did you get past the guards? where’s Sapphire?”
Of cause he knew I don’t care about how he got pas-sed the guards so he answered my last question as he helped unlock the chains I was bound with.
“I was apprehended while trying to flee with her, I told her to run but…”
“You guys nee-d to hurry up, we don’t have much time” I soon heard another voice from behind Adrian.
“Alice, how did you get here?” I asked.
“Skyler, let’s leave all question and answers for later and let’s find a way to rescue sapphire.
” I know where she is” Alice said as she led the way.
