EMMA POV
“Wake up sweet heart”on hearing Brian voice I opened my eyes.
He was sitting down beside the be-d,Starring down at me
“What time is it?”I asked as I sat up on the be-d
“Its still early morning”He said as he put the break fast tray on my l@ps
“If it’s still early in the morning then you shouldn’t be dressed yet,You still have some time before you go to work”I said as I took my first bite
“I know but there is this urgent meeting am having today,The ministers and ambas-sador made it a very important meeting and I can’t skip or miss it” He said
“Fine then,Go and don’t let me st©p you”I replied as I continued to eat my food
“Will you be okay?”he asked
“Of course? Have always been okay with you going to work”I answered
“Fine then,Take care of your self “He said and gave me a k!ssbefore getting up
“Call me if any thing happens okay” He said and I nodded
I waved him off and continued to eat my food.
I can’t believe that we have been married for two years alre-ady
A marriage of two years that has gone well, We found out that each day we keep on loving each other more.
Keep on trusting one another and we rarely fought,It’s like we are the perfect married couples.
In a few days time,it will be our anniversary and have been planning to surprise Brian with a very big pres£nt,I just hope he likes it.
Thinking about it, There were some things I still had to get for the upcoming Anniversary I was thinking about .
Putting the tray away,I decided to call for the maid who were always by the door
I was about to open it when I heard what they were saying.
“Its been two years,Two good years and there is no child yet”one of them said
“Maybe they don’t want to give birth yet?”the other maid answered
“Or maybe the real reason is that her Highness is barren”
“Shut up! People might hear you”the other maid said hitting the first maid
“But am saying the truth! If you think it is a lie then ask the rest of the workers,That is what they are saying”She said
“Well If the queen is barren or not,It’s not our concern,Let’s just act like we don’t know”The other maid replied
I moved away from the door and sat down on the be-d
So now people are eaves dropping behind me too? I thought
Its been two years,Two good years of a great marriage but we never had children
A medical problem on my side,when we had waited months ago and nothing c@m£,We decided to see a Specialist and that was when he told us that i could not have a children.
Brian was cool about it but I knew that he wanted kids of his own and I wanted mine too.
I never thought that I will be talked about like this,.
What was I even thinking,people will surely talk, after all it’s been two years since we got married and yet nothing.
Sighing I didn’t bother to call for the maid,I got dressed my self and as soon as I got out of the room.
They all bowed before me,Treating me with respect and also talking about me behind my back
BRIAN POV
“we just can’t sit still and not say any thing again, I mean it’s been two years and nothing?” One of the minister said amongst the crowd
“Okay this is the third time some one said that,Just Come out with it and st©p beating around the bush”I said alre-ady getting pissed.
“Okay we will tell you the reason why we call for this meeting Your majesty”Another replied
“Its been two years and we haven’t seen any child,It’s the duty of a king to produce an heir who will take over the throne, So why is there no child yet?”one of the asked.
I had specifically made it clear that i dont want this subject to be brou-ght up, No one in the court had ever defiled that,If they had managed to do it today then Some one must have given them the backing and that can only be my parents.
“What my wife and I choose to do about having children is none of your problem,We are only here to focus on the country not to focus on the king and his family”I said starring at every one of them.
” But what goes on in your life should also be our interests after all you are the king and we have to follow your foot steps”one said again
“Well then you shouldn’t follow Any of my foot steps, When the time comes my wife and I will have our child,So I don’t want to be called to this court again to talk about my pri-vate life,You only have the right to summon Me to the court to talk about the state affair and nothing else,You have been warned”I said and walked out of the court room.
Instead of going to my room,I went straight to the other ap@rt ment built for the use of my father and mother.
I had to talk to them,Ever since they found out that Emma was barren they have been ma-king trouble between us
They would ask me to leave her and marry some one else or they might ask me to get myself another wife or they might ask me to get some one pregnant and bring the child into the palace to live and be trained as the up coming king.
I refused every one of it,They were asking me to betray my wife and that is some thing,I will never do,I thought as I went in to the house.
My arrival was announced by the guard who was standing by the door and when the door opened,I walked in straight and bowed
“Have a seat son”He said and I did as he told me
“What brings you here,You ha-rd ly ever visit your father”He said starring at me
“We both know why am here father”I said angrily
“I don’t know why”He denied
“Well then I will refresh your memory, Why did you take my pri-vate life affair to the court to make a talk on it?”I asked
“I had to,You aren’t seeing s-en-se any more, You nee-d an heir of you want to keep on staying on the throne, That wife of yours can’t produce that,She is barren !”He said
“And what if she is barren? What if I don’t have kids? I love my wife And I won’t let any one hurt her or to talk about us,So father kindly st©p with all this,When the time comes,We will have our own child………”
“When will that come? Two years on or better yet never ? You just don’t un-der stand the kind of position and obligation you have Brian!”,
” Its not just when you feel like it,It’s a must that you have a child,It’s one p@rt of the duty of a king,You must have a child before it’s too late for you”He said
“As have said father,When the time comes,We will make a baby,So for now plea-se st©p pestering us and leave us out of your state affairs,I won’t Ask again”I said and stormed out of the room and I didn’t notice Emma who stood beside the door.
EMMA POV
I had been told that the great king nee-ded to see me and when I got to the ap@rtment that had been given to him,it was to listen to the conversation Brian was having with his father.
Just knowing that I was alre-ady being disapproved of by the man that as-sured Me that I will keep on being with his son made me feel sad
And every thing is because I can’t give birth to a child,I thought sadly.
“Your Highness the great king will see you now” The guard said to me and I br@ced my head and heart for the up coming confrontation.
I walked in and bowed gently “have a seat”He said and I did as he told me
“You must alre-ady know why I called you here”He said and gently I nodded
“Don’t you think it’s time you start to produce an heir for my son,it’s been two years alre-ady”He said
“We are still working on it your majes……..”
“You don’t have to lie to me,I know that you are barren and that you can’t have a child”He said so sudden that I was shocked from hearing it from hisl-ips
“I………. I”
“Don’t you think you are being unfair to your husband,He alre-ady has the whole country affair to weigh him down,Don’t let your barrenness do the same thing to him”He said
“I try not to make him worry and Brian isn’t complaining”I said gently
“He wouldn’t say it so he won’t break your heart but you have to be told the truth,Your barreness isn’t helping your husband,Infact it is destroying him,Did you know what those ministers are saying behind his back,Do you know that they are waiting for the opportunity to get in to his seat,Do you want that for your husband?” He asked and I Shaked my head
“Then you will only have to do some thing to help him”He said and I starred at him suspiciously
“What will that be?”
“He will have to get married to another wife” he said starring at me.

EMMA POV
“Why do you look so shocked,in these circu-mtance it’s the only situation that will benefit you and my son”He said and gave me a chance to speak but when I had nothing to say,He continued
“You don’t want him to be a laughing stock to the whole society right?”He asked starring down at me
“Yes,I don’t want him”
“So it wouldn’t hurt if he got married and have his kids with this other lady”He asked
Though what he was asking me hurt,I found myself nodding to his request
“So you are fine if we get another wife for him right?”He asked
“If she will be able to give him a child,Am fine with it” I replied
“Good then,We will begin the search and you must not back out of it,You agreed to this and so you must end it okay”He said
“Yes your majesty”I replied.
Later on I went back to the palace thinking about what I just agreed on,if Brian were to find out then am sure that he will be angry
But this is for his own good,I know for a fact that Brian loves children and am sure he want his own ,So what would a barren woman like me do for him,It’s best that he marries some one else,Some one who will be able to give him a child.
I was pas-sing throu-gh the garden when I saw him pla-ying with the gardener twins.
He had one in his arms and the other kept on pu-lling his clothe.
Just looking at him like this made me feel worth less,Why did I have to be barren,I also want my own child! I thought as the tears threatened to pour.
I went back to my room only to see Dora mother waiting for me
“There you are my child,Take this I brou-ght it for you,They told me that it would work perfectly,It’s what you nee-d if you want to conceive”She said giving me a cu-p
“I don’t want a thing”I replied
“But you must have it…..it will work for you”I said
“What’s the point! He will be getting married to some one who can give him an heir”I said with our thinking
“What?”
“Its nothing,I…… I didn’t mean what I said”
“You meant it Dora, Cause if you didn’t you wouldn’t have say it”She said
“I kn……….”
“I will not stand for it,No one else will be his wife except you!”She yelled and stormed out of the room
I sat down on the be-d,Feeling more down than ever, why did I have to say that to her and knowing Dora mother she will surely cause problem.
quic-kly I went after her,I searched around but she was no where to be found
And then I began to hear loud angry voices coming from the patio.
quic-kly I went there only to st©p when I heard Brian mother saying
“And so what? If my son decideds to marry some one else then he has the right to,Do you think he will be with your daughter who will always been barren for the rest of her life”
“How dare you? We married our daughter in to your family,So she will be treated well but it seems like you all are the one treating her bad”
“Another wife? Another wife you say! Well I won’t let that happen,I won’t sit back and let you marry over my daughter,She will be the only bride in this house and that is final” Dora mother yelled
“How dare you raise your voice at me,You should remember that I am the queen “Brian mother yelled and quic-kly I ran inside
“Mom,plea-se let’s go”I said pu-lling her but she pu-ll-ed away and walked back to the queen
“Your time is now over,My daughter is the queen now and she will continue being the queen”She said
“Mom plea-se st©p! Let’s just go”I said again
“When they nee-ded help, They c@m£ to us and in exchange they gave their son to you,wanting you to marry him so that we can help with the merger and now that they have it,They now want to cast you aside! Well I won’t let that happen!!!”she said and stormed out of the room
“I apologize your Highness”I said bowing
” Take your apology some where else,If I had known that things will turn out this way,I would never have allowed my son to marry you”She said angrily and stormed out of the patio her self
I stood in the room thinking about every thing
Those who had once been in support of me are no more In support just because I can’t give birth.
Feeling suffocated,I went back into the room and locked the door.
I layed on the be-d and cried my eyes out, Why is this happening to me? Why can’t I just be happy? Why?
Some one began to knock on the door and when I didn’t respond, He began to call my name
“Open this door,We nee-d to talk Dora,Open up plea-se”He said as he kept on ban-ging the door.
I heard him telling some one to get the spare keys.
I didn’t want him seeing me like this,I have always pretend to be strong in front of Brian,That I wasn’t affected with what people were saying about my Barreness but today is different.
I couldn’t hold it in any more and if Brian were to see me like this he will feel guilty and he won’t want to marry the other lady for my sake.
quic-kly I dashed into the bath room and wash up my face and then I dried up my face and was starring at my self in the mirror.
That was how he found me when he walked in
“Tell me what your mother meant by me marrying some one else?'”He yelled at me
br@cing my self for the confrontation,I turned to look at him
“Yes you will be marrying another bride”
“Says who?”,
“Says me,Let’s face the fact I can’t give birth to a child and you must have an heir, Having another bride that will produce one for you will only make it better” I said
‘”And will you be feeling better? Will you be able to live with the fact that you are now going to share me with some one else’He asked
No,I won’t be able to! I thought sadly .
“If she will certainly give you what you want then I …….. ”
“Emma!!!”he yelled suddenly and I stared at him shocked
“Is it that easy for you , To give me to some one else with out even considering my feelings,if the situation was turned around,I won’t ever give you up for some one else,You didn’t even think about how I would feel”
“You are wrong,I agreed to this marriage for your sake,I can’t bear watching you with other kids, I hate it when they talk about you and I know that you want your child and that is some thing I can never give you, If some one else can give you that then am willing to accept it,As long as it makes you happy am willing to go throu-gh with it”I said with emotion
” Being with some one else Wont make me happy”
“When you finally have your child in your arms,You will certainly change your opinion”I answered cripsly
‘”am not going throu-gh any marriage,You are my wife and you will keep on being my wife”He said and began to walk off
I can’t certainly let him leave with out convincing him about it, I thought and quic-kly I ran to stand in front of him, Obstructing his path
“A wife who can’t give you an heir,Why can’t you just see reason,You will tell me now that you can cope,That if we don’t have a child it won’t matter to you but am sure that when you get older and feel the impact you will hate me for it and that is some thing I don’t want”
“If you love me Brian,You will get married and have a child,That alone will make me happy even if I don’t have one”I said as the tears sli-pped down my face
“You fool!”he said angrily
“Yes am a fool for pushing out the man Iove but when I see you with your own child then every thing I have to give up now will surely be worth it”I said .
“You really do want me to get married again?”
“Yes,As long as you will be able to have your own child”
“And you will be fine with it ”
“I will just as long as we achieve what we want”I said breathing in de-eply
Brian walked the remaining pace between us and pu-ll-ed me to a very ti-ght hvg
“I love you and even if I agree to this marriage what ever you are asking of me, You will only be the one I love and want”He said k!ss!ngmy fore head and I snuggled close to him, Hoping with all my heart that it turns out that way.
