EASTWOOD HIGH
Onda sat alone at the amphitheatre staring into space. She has been there ever since she left the cafeteria. Honestly she’s the most surprised and shocked about Kimberly. Kimberly had never told her anything even though they’re best friends. She had always felt comfortable around her knowing they’re similar in one way or the other. But now that she had totally changed…she’s not sure if they can continue as they were before.
Just today she has made a lot of new friends and had seems distant. She had become popular that now…Onda is no more in her level. She felt sad and somehow betrayed.
“Where could he be seriously…” Jade mutters looking everywhere for Jayden.
He spots Onda sitting alone with her head bowed down and wondered what she’s doing there alone.
“Hey” He called her attention and she looks up to him.
“Ja…Jade” she called surprised.
“Why do you look so shocked?” He asked pocketing his hands.
“No…it’s just…that…that…”
“Wait! Are you crying?” Jade points to her face.
She looked down quickly wiping her tears underneath her gla-sses.
“No…I’m…not”
“I’m right! You’re indeed crying! Hey is something wrong?!” He quickly sat beside her while she shifted away instantly. Jade shifted closer to her and she made to stand up. However Jade pulled her down sitting her next to him holding her hand tightly at the same time.
“Im ain’t letting you go unless you tell me what the matter is”
“It’s…nothing really…”
“Why are you crying…Onda?” He asked friendly rubbing her palm gently.
She sniffs.
“I’m worried”
“About what?”
“My friendship…with Kim” She replied slowly.
“Ohh…right? You should be” Jade nodded understanding.
“What should I do…? Jade I…”
“Onda…calm down” Jade held both her shoulders.
“She would never leave you…I trust Kim. Have you talked to her?” He asked and she shakes her head.
“I’m scared to…she’ll…she will get tired of me now…I don’t wanna lose her but…she’s…”
“Don’t you know Kim? She would never do such a thing to her best friend. And if you don’t trust her then trust me…I a-ssure you…she won’t mm?” He said and she nodded slowly.
“Poor you…you should talk to her and stop sitting here alone…you’re a girl for Fuc-k sake…you shouldn’t be alone everytime”” He mussed her hair up.
“Thank you…Jade” she smiles.
“Look at you blus-hing…” He smiles back and she looks away shyly.
“By the way did you perhaps see Jayden? He’s nowhere in sight”
“Jay…den…no I haven’t”
“Oh really! Where could this punk be? He’s not picking up either”
“But is something wrong?”
“Uh…I think he had a beef with Kim earlier today though I couldn’t figure out what it is”
“Oh…”
“Anyway if you see him buzz me immediately” He stood up about leaving.
“Jade!” Onda called him back.
“Uh what?”
“Your digits” She said shyly while Jade ohhed.
“Your phone” He requested and she quickly gave it to him.
“Here” He gave it back to her after typing his number.
“Then anticipating to hear from you later…” He said and she nodded.
“Bye pumpkin…and don’t cry anymore!” He winked before leaving.
Onda held her phone to her chest grinning widely.

Onda squealed hopping to the restroom.
Because of the talk she had just had with Jade, she had totally forgotten all her worries.
“I got his number….” She grins as she went inside the restroom.
She got into one of the stalls to do her business and just as she did she started hearing low mo-ans from the stall next to hers.
She scrunched her nose in disgust and made to leave but hearing the voices made her stopped. It sounded so familiar.
“Why did you stop?” The manly voice whispers.
“I…I’m not like other girls you screw Jade. And I don’t want to be. I just want to be special”
“You mean…”
“Let’s date.”
“Date? Of course…that’s nothing”
“No…I don’t just want to be a Fuc-k specimen of yours…I want us to date for real not just being a fling. Actually…I’ve liked you for a while now. It’s okay if you don’t want to…I’m not forcing you…just letting you know” Verna voice sounded back.
“You don’t have to answer immediately also…I know you don’t like commitment so you may need your time to think about it. You can always get back to me when you’re done…I’ll wait. Then….we can continue whatever we have started” She added.
“See you later then…” Verna gave him a kis-s and winks before leaving the stall.
“Date for real?…Fuc-k! She got me all up just to splatter rubbish. Sh*t she’s such a nice catch…should I just give it a try…she’s not bad after all” Jade mumbles before leaving also.
Onda slumped on the WC covering her mouth.
“Right? I almost forgot the kind of person he is…he isn’t someone…someone like me can handle. I must have been mistaken for a while…”Onda mutters to herself.
IN CLa-ss.
“Can you concentrate Mr Diego…it’ll be nice if you look at the board and not Kim” Teacher Derek said making everyone turns to look at Diego.
“I look at whoever I want…it’s my eyes anyway…not yours teacher” Diego replied back making some laughs.
Diego turns his gaze back at Kimberly who had already been looking back at him now and for the first time…he smiles at her. Kim almost thought she saw wrong until he winks also. She Hiccuped and face the front immediately. Diego smirk.
“One more word from you and you’ll be penalized” The teacher said.
“Not like I give a damn…” Diego mutters.
Verna scribbled something on a note and pa-ssed it to him. He looks at it then look away. Kim slapped her cheeks silently breathing out. She still can’t believe Diego is been flirty with her all of a sudden.
AFTER CLa-ss.
“Onda wait! I think we need to talk” Kimberly stopped Onda who was about leaving the cla-ss. Without resisting Onda nodded and sat down back.
“Why have you been indifference? You ignore and avoid me. Are you upset at me or what?”
“I’m…not. I’m just me”
“No…you aren’t…you’ve changed”
“Really? Am I the one who’s changed or you?” Onda asked directly looking at her. Then Kim came to a realization.
“Ohhh…Onda look it’s…”
“You don’t need to explain…you don’t own me any explanation. I won’t stop you if you wanna stop being friends also. I’ll understand if you don’t wanna a-ssociate with people like me. I’ve always known anyway…that one day…this would happen” Onda said slowly walking away.
“Yes! I don’t wanna be your friend anymore!” Kim said after her making her stopped.
“Why should I continue being friend with someone who doesn’t try to understand me? Friends are meant to support each other no matter what? To hear each other’s out and lean on each other not just jump into conclusion. You know what…a true friend stays by one’s side and never give up like you do. A true friend loves till the end and not just…run away like a coward you’re being right now. A true friend…gives a listening ear” Kimberly added behind her.
Onda looks back immediately to her.
“Kiki…” She made to move closer but Kim stepped back.
“You don’t deserve to call me that. I know I made a mistake not telling you this beforehand but Onda seriously….you fuvked up” Kim glared before dashing out of the cla-ss. Onda slumped on her feet tears slid down her cheeks.
“What have I done?” She weeps slowly.
BASKETBALL COURT.
“What are you doing?” Verna questioned Diego sternly.
“What?” He asked back.
“What’s going on with you? Why? Because she transformed now you’re already going out of it? Is that it?” She arched her eyebrows.
“So what if it is?”
“What?”
“Can’t I develop intrest in her? Why? Am I not allowed to? Do I need your permission for that?”
“Hey! How can you say that with everything you’ve done to her?”
“What exactly did I do? You linked the video…yourself. I never asked you to do that. You showed the whole world just to disgrace her so what did I do wrong exactly?” Diego said while Verna scoffs.
“You’re crazy aren’t you? Tell me the truth…you can’t possibly fall for her right? You’re just…right! She suddenly became pretty so you just wanna have your way with her. That’s it right?”
“She was cute in the video…I enjoyed watching that and also…” He paused and stepped closer to her.
“She’s not pretty bad even before she transformed. And it’ll be pretty intriguing…if I indeed fall for her” He smirk at her before leaving.
“Hey! You can’t fall for her! You can’t!! You can never! I won’t allow that!!” Verna yelled after him as he left stomping her feet on the floor.
“Sh*t! That wrech! Just wait!” She seethed.
ROOFTOP.
Jayden keep his eyes closed as he laid on a bench.
Somehow his mood dampened at the moment that happened earlier.
“Did I made a mistake changing her?”
“Now everyone’s is gonna be interested in her?”
“Dammit! I should have thought this throu-gh” He kept thinking.
“Crazy girl…she thinks she’s everything now that she’s pretty!” He mumbles.
“Yeah I think I am…got a problem with that?” He heard a voice and sprang up immediately.
“Are you skipping cla-ss? Jade said you were nowhere to be found ever since you left the cafeteria earlier? Were you here all along?” Kim asked folding her arms.
“What is it to you?” He made to leave but she held him back.
“You know…I don’t really fancy material things. I prefer my old me also to this. Ever since I became the person I am now…the things I’m losing…is much more than that I’m gaining. Going back…wouldn’t be a problem to me at all” She said.
“Why would you go back? The you now is perfect” Jayden snapped.
“Then why? Why do you seems you’re uncomfortable with it?”
“Why would I? I made you like this remember.”
“Then…?”
Jayden sighs and before Kim knew it he put his arm around her neck.
“It’s because I won’t be able to do this anymore” He said mussing her hair up.
“Hey do you wanna die! Let go!” She gritted and he let her go.
“That was weird of you…letting go easily.”
“You told me to”
“Not like you ever obeyed anytime I asked you to”
“It’s different now…you’re different now” he replied and Kim sighs.
“Just what’s wrong with you all?”
“Kim…maybe…this is the best for you. Look you’re already getting all the attention”
“I never did this to get attention from people or become the subject of the school…you know that”
“But you’re indeed getting what you want. Am I wrong?”
“Well…maybe you’re not totally wrong. He offered to practice basketball with me…he asked earlier” Kim smiles.
“Oh really….see now. So what’s was your reply?”
“I rejected him of course”
“But you’re gonna accept later right?”
“I have to play ha-rd to get you know.” She bit her lower li-p smiling. Jayden steps forward after looking at her for a while. He pulled her into a hug.
“I’m glad…this is working out just fine. Seems I don’t have to worry about anything” he said stro-king her hair.
“Thank you Jayden…really” She smiles hugging him back. They stayed like that for seconds before disengaging.
“Oh! Your makeup is smeared”
“Oh really?”
“Wait let me help you with that Sit” he said and she did. Kimberly closed her eyes. Jayden got the bottle water beside the bench and pours little on his palm. He smirks to himself before redesigning her face.
“There” He withdrew after a moment and Kimberly opens her eyes.
“Is it okay now?” She asked and he nodded smiling.
“You should go to clas-snow”
“Why? Let’s go together”
“No…I still have to drop by somewhere real quick…see you later!” He said in a rush before dashing out of there.
“What’s with him…” Kimberly thought.

Students wouldn’t stop looking at her murmuring to each other as she walks throu-ghthe Hall. Kimberly didn’t think much about it since that has been happening ever since she got to school that morning.
“Don’t they get tired..am I that pretty.” She mutters to herself feeling proud.
She went towards her clas-sand was about going in when she bump into Diego at the door.
“Oh hi” She smiles and made to go inside but Diego called her back.
“You…” He said and she turns to look at him. She smiles before tucking her hair behind her ear.
“What exactly? I said I’m not interested in your coaching or whatever. Stop being a leech it’s getting annoying seriously”
“No…it’s…its just…” Diego gesture to her face and she sneer.
“Now you’re speechless…this is unlike you. Just stay away. That’s what you want uh?” She pat his chest but Diego leans closer to her.
“Your make-up….it’s all over your face” He whispers to her.
Kimberly looks at him strangely before looking at the students in the cla-ss. They were already taking her pictures and the look on their face is like they’re mocking her.
Diego also took a picture of her.
She heard a cli-ck sound and look at him.
“What was that? Did you just took my picture?” She asked feigning annoyance. Diego smiles and brou-ght the phone to her face showing her the picture. Kimberly instantly went ballistic.
“What the Fuc-k!” Her makeup was smeared all over her face. She looks like a total panda.
Now she understand why they have all been looking at her. Not like they admired her beauty…they were actually mocking her for it.
Quickly she scattered her hair all over her face.
“Jayden…” She grits her teeth.
“I’m gonna kill you Jayden!” She seethed marching out of there.
Diego pocketed his hands watching her as she leaves.
“Cute” He snickers.
“No…I’m ain’t gonna let that possible. You can never have Diego Kim. Because he’s mine alone!” Verna thought looking at the incessantly smiling Diego from the back seat.
“Since I’m not like her…since I’ve got nothing to offer like her….since I’m not as pretty as her…since I’m not as confident as she is….he will never look at me right?” Onda thought also looking at Verna.
