☆ Maya and the Sweet Bee ☆
“Here” Maya dropped three mugs of hot coffee on the table. One for Gary, one for Jacques and one for her. She then took a sit beside Jacques who was sitting opposite Gary. Gary took the mug of coffee and gulp down everything despite being hot.
“Be careful…it’ll burn your throat” Jacques said. Gary dropped the mug and sighs loudly.
“Ow..that must be hot” Maya muttered.
“What…exactly happened? Brother why are you alive when everyone thought you were dead. Why are you here and why don’t I know anything?” He asked sternly.
“Mr Gary I’m really sorry…I should have told you” Maya played with her fingers with her head slightly bowed.
“Maya. We see each other everyday. Something big like this happened and you couldn’t utter a word to me. How could you face me everyday without feeling any iota of guilt? ” He lashed at Maya who flinches at his outburst.
“I’m…I’m sor_”
“Gary…I know you must be taken aback right now but…don’t blame her. I asked her to keep it a secret” Jacques butt in immediately.
“And you brother! How could you do this? Do I mean nothing to you? You don’t care at all? Do you know how much pain! I felt when you left suddenly? Do you know how hurtful and hard it was…to think I’ll never see you again? And Halsey? Do you even think of her at all? Just how could you be like this!!” He yelled holding his chest.
“If…if Maya hadn’t left her phone, if I hadn’t came to return it then…I’ll probably never find out about this. You will keep deceiving me! Keep lying to the world and I’m..I’ll probably continue to wallow in pain every single day, missing you like crazy and…crying myself to bed pathetically every night right?” He quivered with tears strolling down his cheek.
“In my entire life…I’ve never been more terrified like I was that night. I was in immense pain and anguish. It was so frightening. I cried for help…I struggled…it was a terrible nightmare for me Gary. It was torture. ” Jacques narrated.
“I can’t let things go Gary…it feels so unfair that I just can’t let it go. I need to find…whoever that killer is, and make them pay for trying to take what’s not theirs. My life. So Gary I’m sorry I didn’t inform you…I just wanna be careful. If I were to show up the killer will certainly go after me again. And…even possible those precious to me. I wanted to sort everything out first…before telling you. It’s better to let them think I’m dead. It’ll be easier for me…to get them all”
“Even still…”
“I missed you. Both you and Halsey. Not a day passes by without me…thinking of you guys. And I’m glad to see you’re doing absolutely well…even without me around”
“Jacques…”
“So Gary help me. Don’t let anyone know about me for now…just give me a little time…just a little time”
“Not even Halsey”
“Not even her”
Gary sighs.
“So, what are your plans?”
LATER.
“Are…you okay?” Maya asked Jacques who was standing alone at the terrace.
“About what?”
“Erm…you know everything” She said. Jacques smiles.
“But…is it okay to tell him everything like that?”
“Why shouldn’t it be? He’s Gary after all..”
“Then…why didn’t you tell him about the dash cam?”
“I don’t want him…to get involved. Right now the company needs him more”
“I’m sorry…this is all because of me. If I hadn’t left my phone behind then..he wouldn’t have found out” Maya lowered her head.
“Yeah you deserved to be punished for that you clumsy woman” He knocked her fore head.
“Hey!” She frowns rubbing it. Jacques chuckles.
“You haven’t eaten right? Come on I’ll heat up the food…let’s have dinner. I prepared a buffet for my dearest queen”
“Buffet my foot. Let’s go” She flaunts her hair walking away. Jacques couldn’t help chuckling.
“Wait for me! My queen” He follows suit.
RORY’S WEARS COMPANY.
“Once again I want to apologize for not saying the truth earlier. I’m really sorry Mr Gary” Maya apologizes for the umpteenth time to Gary.
“It’s okay. It’s not your fault anyway. But Jacques must trust you a lot…seeing how he came to you” Gary replied.
“Ahh…it sort of happened that way. I was scared out of my wits when I found out also. It was really creepy…he was creepy”
“But I’m happy it’s you. You were the closest to him apart from his family. I’m sure he dotes on you a lot. Maya my brother is your hands, overlook his pompousness and please take good care of him”
“Ahh…yes sir. You need not worry I’ve been doing that for a week now”
“Good. Call me if you need anything…I’ll always check up on him also”
“Yes sir.”
“There’s an emergency board meeting. Prepare for that”
“Yes sir ”

“The main item on the agenda is CEO Dickens dismissal” Dora announced.
“The reason is to stabilize the company” She added.
“What are your reasons behind this?” One of the shareholders asked.
“CEO Dickens here because of his negligence and bizzare actions has lost trust both the inside and outside. I think we all know that.ever since he took on the position, the company has hit rock bottom. We can’t continue to watch this. We can’t continue to let him treat this company as an object or rather like his play thing. Most of the board concur to this” Dora replied.
“I beg to differ” Gary said.
“Mrs Dora can you please pinpoint exactly how this company has hit its rock bottom because of me. As far as I know ever since I entered the company I’ve worked as hard as I could…to make it progress isn’t that right?”
“But you didn’t do enough. Can’t you see the company suffering right now! I firmly request for his dismissal. CEO Dickens is young, inexperienced and not competent. He can’t handle the company and it’s affair. He has to leave” Dora said firmly. And some of the boards nodded in agreement.
“Then what if I do something to promote this company. Will you reconsider dismissing me?” Gary asked.
“What are you saying!!”
“The contract with the OASIS CO OPERATIONS. Just give me some time. And I promise to get it. It’ll be greatly beneficial for the company if I were to get a deal sigh with them don’t you think? ”
“Don’t even dream of it. What could you possibly do? RORY’S WEARS can’t get the deal we all know that. OASIS CO OPERATIONS isn’t interested in partnering with our company. So many attempts to make them but all failed. What makes you think he’s gonna succeed this time? He’s just trying to buy himself some time. I disapprove this” Dora said firmly.
“How would you know if you don’t give it a try? I’m positive I can do this. I can win the deal. Just give me a little time and I will…get a partnership with them I surely will and if I don’t…then you are free…to dismiss me as you want. Just give me this chance I beg of you all” Gary made a bow. The shareholders whispers among themselves while Dora just fumes on her seat.
Mr Joshua Wells, one of the largest shareholder clears his throat.
“If you can really get the deal as you said then…it’ll be wonderful. On behalf of the board I hereby adjourned CEO Dickens dismissal. You only have two weeks to close the deal and if you fail…you leave the company”
“Thank you. Thank you all I promise not to let you all down”

“How cheeky of you. You think you can escape this…” Dora seethe walking towards Gary.
“You…will never get that contract. Never”
“Let’s wait and see. If I can get it or not”
“You…I think underestimated you too much. I thought of you as a weakling but…i was wrong”
“Why don’t you stop now?” He said.
“What?”
“Don’t you think you’ve done enough? I told you the other day right? I won’t just stand and watch you any longer. If you wish to keep the little you still have it’d be better you stop here. I won’t just sit back and watch you…act out of it again”
“How dare you dirty scum!” She landed a hot slap on his face, her ring leaving a cut on it in the process.
“You rat! you’re just like your wretched brother. Don’t think you’ve won. Very soon I’m gonna cut off that wings of yours. Very soon” She glared and storm out of there.
Gary touched his cheek and sighs.
“Are you okay sir?” Maya asked behind him and he sighs.
“I’m fine. You can go home early today. I think I wanna get some rest also. Tell Jacques I’ll visit him soon” He said.
“Yes sir” Maya replied and Gary smiled before walking away.
“That must hurt…is he really okay?” She muttered.
DD’S MANSION.
“ARRGHHH!!!” Dora threw her bag away in annoyance.
“Those scums! How dare they stab me in the back!” She grits.
“My phone” She demanded and a maid shakily placed the phone on her wide palms. Dora dialled Halsey’s line but she wouldn’t pick. She tried for over six times but just to get the same results.
“You dare ignore me too. You must really wanna see my wrath. Alright I’ll show you” She dialled another number and immediately the person picked.
“That girl…I want you to get her and bring her to me” She ordered.

“How strange…why is the lights off?” Maya thought out loud as he got inside the house. She turns on the lights and went further in.
“Why is it awfully quiet? It’s like no one is at home” She thought again.
“Mr Jacques! Mr Jacques I’m home!” She called but got no response.
“How weird” She brought out her phone and dialled his number. He picked up at third ring.
“Hey! Where are you? And why did you take long to pick??” She asked immediately he picked up the phone.
“Umm Maya…I’m at Mother’s place” Jacques’ voice replied at the other end.
“Mother? What mother? Wait! MY MOTHER??” She asked with wide eyes.
UNKNOWN PLACE.
“Wake her up” Dora ordered.
“Yes Madame” A guy in black bowed slightly then walked to Luna splashing water on her. She woke up instantly coughing.
Her eyes roves around the environment she is in and became alarmed. The last thing she remembered was dancing at the club with Halsey then she excused herself to the restroom. After that she couldn’t remember what happened next.
“Where…where am I?” She tries moving but discovered she was tied to the chair she was sitting on.
“Who…who are you people? Let me go! Let me goo right now!!” She began struggling on the chair. Yelling at Dora and the guy watching her. Dora smiled darkly and walked to her.
“I don’t…know you. What do you want from me?” Luna glared at Dora. Dora only smirk then grabbed a handful of her hair.
“ARRGHHH!!!” Luna cried out in pain.
“So you are the b*tch…trying to take my daughter away from me” Dora spat hatefully.
“I’ve got to teach you a bittersweet lesson your f**king parents failed to teach you” She said sinisterly.
MRS POSIE’S HOUSE.
“Mom!!” Maya called on rushing into the house.
“Oh! Maya you’re here!” Jacques waves at her grinning ear to ear.
“Hey how could you come here without me are you crazy?” Maya whispers rushing to his side.
“I went over to take him why? Is there a problem with that?” Mrs Posie said coming with cans of beer in her hands.
“Mom what are you doing? You can’t just barge into my house and_”
“And steal your boyfriend?” Mrs Posie completed her speech for her
“That’s not what I meant..I’m just saying…you shouldn’t come unannounced”
“I told you you’ll be spending the weekend with me..how is it unannounced?”
“We could have just come ourselves. Not you taking him like that”
“So? You’re pissed? Because I took your boyfriend without permission?” Mrs Posie said
“I never said that! Mom stop twisting my words”
“Don’t worry. I’m ain’t gonna steal your man away. Rest assured” Mrs Posie teased while Jacques chuckled.
“You should have called me early on?” Maya pinched Jacques.
“Hey! Just scold me instead. Leave the poor man he did nothing wrong.”
“Mom really…tch” She rolled her eyes.
“But what are you doing?” She asked.
“As you can see we are about having drinks. Mr Dickson here has been helping me in the restaurant since this evening so I want to repay him with some drinks”
“What? You helped with the restaurant? Hey how could you do that??”
“Maya what happened was_”
“Mom! How could you let him work for you? He isn’t someone meant to be ordered around anyhow. And also you just can’t take advantage of him just because he’s your daughter’s boyfriend. He’s my man not just any man!” Maya chided.
“Ah! Mom!” She winced when Mrs Posie spank her on her arm.
“Did you just told me off just because of your boyfriend? You must be crazy! You must be nuts!” Mrs Posie spanks her more.
“Mom it’s hurts!” Maya yelled.
“Mother? Mother…please pardon her. I think Maya is just stressed out…she doesn’t mean to act out” Jacques intervene.
“Hey she didn’t order me around. I offered to help. And also I worked in the kitchen so no one saw me” Jacques said to Maya.
“What’s the difference? she still made you work! She shouldn’t have done that!” Maya retort
“That girl!” Mrs Posie made to advance to Maya but she quickly hid behind Jacques.
“Mother? Calm down…” He took a beer and gave it to her.
“Drink this and calm down uh?” Mrs Posie collect the beer and he got behind her massaging her shoulders.
“Feels good right?” He smiles at her.
“Hey that feels great” Mrs Posie beams.
“Hey stop that!” Maya pulled him away from her back and made him sit beside her.
“You sit here and don’t do anything” She affirms.
“That brat!” Mrs Posie grits.
“But…I haven’t seen Archie ever since I arrived. Is he not back from school?” Jacques asked.
“He went on a school trip. Why do you think I asked you guys to come over”
“Ohh..mother you must be lonely” Jacques quizzed.
“Well not exactly. I just needed someone to take to ”
“That’s the same as loneliness” Jacques said.
“I said no. Hey tell me about yourself. What does your parents do?” Mrs Posie asked.
“My parents…they’re currently in sleeping…permanently” He replied.
“What?”
“My mother went to sleep first twenty years ago and my father…joined her about ten years ago also” He added.
“Oh, my I’m so sorry” Mrs Posie said.
“I’m fine” He smiles.
“Have some drink mother. Maya you too” He gave Maya who had been silent a can of beer also.
“You should drink also. We have a long night ahead of us”
“Yes mother” He took a can of beer and open it. But on opening it, the gas sprouts out splashing all over his face and body.
“Oh dear!”
“Hey! you okay!!”
MAYA’S ROOM.
Jacques cleaned himself up and changed his clothes. He had actually brought some earlier since Mrs Posie said they’ll be spending at least two days with her. He took a sit on the bed, his eyes scrutinizing everywhere.
He sighted a drawer by the bed and opens it but then saw a book rather with the caption ‘WISH LIST OF WHAT I WANNA DO WITH HIM”
“Oh! It’s a wish list. Is this hers?” He checked it out.
“Ahh…these are the things she wanna do with her boyfriend. Maya gosh…I never took her to be the type who writes tacky things like this but…seriously she never cease to surprise me…that woman” He snickers and began going through the book.
“1. Watch a rated movie with him” He reads.
“Rated? Really…she’s unbelievable”
“2. Go on horse riding. 3. Have a steamy hot make out in the rain”
“This woman seriously!” He clears his throat.
“7. Cook together with him. 8. Having a romantic time together in the pool”
“Oh! I’ve done this” He grins.
“9. Watch each other sleep…10. Go_ ” The door suddenly flung open making him snapped his head up.
“Ma…Maya?” He called rather shocked keeping the book behind him.
Maya who stood by the door gave him a suspicious look.
“I caught you…I caught you!” She said in a funny tone which got him furrowing his brow.
“Are you drunk?” He asked.
“Nah! I’m not drunk…I’m just a little tipsy. A little…” She left the door and staggers towards him.
“You! What were you doing? I saw you…you were acting sneaky! You…were badmouthing me right?” She frowns.
“Hey! Of course not…how could I badmouth my queen” He snickers. Maya’s face soften and she staggers closer. She stood in front of him and crouch to his level. Her palms resting on the bed at both his sides.
Her cheeks were red and her face was already slightly puffy.
“I…love it when you call me my queen” She mumbles.
A smirk display on Jacques’ lips.
“Do you?” He asked and she nodded like a baby.
“I love it too…when you blush after I call you that” He said softly.
“You…were you always this sweet and flirty around ladies?” She asked.
“No. You’re the first lady…I’ll ever do this too. ”
“Why?”
“I find it surprising too…why could it be so? I’ve always been pissed off by you. Even though you’re good at your job, I’ve always dislike you cause of you were kinda lousy”
“What?”
“But…after spending a few days with you…I saw different sides of you and strangely…I liked them all. It’s…fun living with you Maya”
“Bad jerk!” She mumbled.
“Handsome rotten jerk!” she yelled at his face.
“Do you love cussing at me that much?”
“It’s my stress reliever. Why? You annoyed? Then you can cuss me back. Cuss me back go on! Do it!”
“Alright stop! I think it’s better you go to bed for now. You’re wasted” He said to her and she nodded withdrawing. However, she lost her balance and that got her falling back directly on Jacques. Jacques’ back landed on the bed with Maya on top of him.
“Maya” He groaned pushing her away. She landed beside him. Maya groans softly and Jacques made to sit up but she tug on his shirt sleeve stopping him. He sighs.
“You should just go to sleep now…I think you’ve done enough for the night” He said to her.
“Don’t go. Just stay here…like this with me. It’s an order” She mumbled back.
“What?”
“Come on…I have something to say. Listen to me. You said I’m your queen, are you gonna defile me?? Uh??” She pouted.
Jacques sighs in defeat. He slept on his side facing her.
“What is it? What do you need to say?” He asked making her smile.
“You know…lately I’ve been feeling really strange. My heart tickles unknowingly and I get excited for no reason. I think I must be sick” She mumbled drowsily while he just listen.
“I keep thinking more also…and…i keep getting greedy. Greedy for something totally absurd…Something really..really stupid. What should I do? How…do I…stop…” The sound of her soft snores completed her statement. Jacques stare at her and smile. Slowly, he brought his palm to her face tugging her hair behind her ear. He smiles and careless her cheek.
“I…keep getting more curious about you Maya. What kind of a person…are you really?” He mumbled as he watches her sleep soundly.
