Betrayer in disguise finale

BETRAYER IN DISGUISE👽👽
Episode 19.

I guess we were supposed to sleep that night, but no it was more than busy for us when we got home.
The cops that were at the madam house quic-kly left for the station as they waited for the arrival of their colleagues.

“From what I heard, there are 6 deaths from the policemen and 4 from the gangs and there are injured from both sides, the woman told us after ma-king a phone call and we heaved.
“Ma, this is our fault, Peter said.

“Our fault? How is that possible? She asked.
“He was our suspect, we were supposed to take his phone and detain him, but what did we do? Only God knows when he began communicating with them over there, my dad and sister was at risk, Peter said.

“Really? We were not sure and we didn’t want to risk it, the woman said.
“All was still a risk, just look at casualties, we are just lucky they were alerted of the police coming late, else it would have been a complete disaster, Peter said.

“Okay at least its easy over, today will be a great day when its daylight, the woman said and I yawned.
“I’m dizzy, I said.

“Its late alre-ady, you nee-d to sleep, my mom said
“What about you? I asked her

“No i don’t think i will, I have your father on my head now and with everything that has transpired I won’t be able to sleep, my mom replied.
“Mom you’ve been lacking good sleep and rest for days now, plea-se don’t break down, I said tou-ching her and she gave a little smile.

“Its fine Joan go sleep, I’ll be fine and I’ll wake you up in the morning, my mom said and i nodded and left the sitting room with Peter leaving my mom with the madam.
I thought of having a shower but i was too weak for that, and i noticed Peter looking at me.

“What? I asked because i knew he wanted saying something.
“Will you be seeing Favour today? He asked.

“Will she be re-leased? I asked back.
“I don’t think so, he replied.

“She didn’t kill that man and i think she has suffered and paid for her own crime by staying there, that’s okay, I said.
“So you want her re-leased in summary? He asked.

“Yes, I replied.
“Because she’s suffering? He asked and scoffed
“And what about you? Didn’t you suffer too? We all suffered because of what she did! He shouted.

“No because of what her cousin did and the police have her now, let it all end! I shouted back and la-id down to sleep knowing the conversation won’t go to anywhere good………….

I heard a tap and sleepily cleaned my eyes sitting up,
“Its morning alre-ady? I asked my mom.
“Yes dear and your dad is awake, won’t you go see him? She asked and i saw she was alre-ady dressed and Peter was awake.

“I don’t think she will, she prefers seeing Favour, Peter said when i wanted saying something.
“Favour? Why her? My mom asked.

“You didn’t know? She will be transferred to another station today, Peter replied and i quic-kly stood up taking my tooth brush to clean up.
“Where are you going to? My mom asked.

“To the station, yes i know Favor wronged me but she didn’t commit the crime. She was acting un-der the influence of her cousin who pushed her wrongly, she nee-ds to be re-leased after all they have the murderer, i replied.
“You can’t do anything about this, the woman has the only say here, my mom said.

“Then we both have to talk, I said.
“She’s not here, my mom said and i hurried up with what i was doing, had a quic-k bath and left the house ignoring all my mom was saying.

I got to the station and saw it very busy, 2 other cops were handcuffed and i clearly knew what that is without being told.
Knowing my way there it wasn’t difficult to meet with the woman talking to the DPO
“Oh Joan, you’re here? She asked surprised to see me.
“Yes ma’am i c@m£ to see you, i said after greeting them.

“I hope there’s no problem? Spoken with your dad yet? She asked.
“Perhaps and ermmm not yet. I’m here because of someone, where’s Favour? I asked.

“Oh you want to see her before she will be transferred? She asked.
“No i want her re-leased alre-ady. You have who you wanted right? Why is she still there or to be transferred? I asked.

“Joan plea-se don’t start this, I’m punishing anyone who had a hand in his death, she replied.
“And she has been punished for more than a month, i guess its enough. Favour may be jealous, a betrayer and a liar, but she was no murderer and i believe she has learnt her lessons. plea-se ma I’m begging you, do me this favour, i pleaded.

“I can’t believe this, after what she did to you? At least let her be punished for that, She said.
“It is not in my place to take revenge ma. If every one should turn evil where will be the good in the land? I’m speaking on her behalf ma irrespective of what she did to me, plea-se let her be freed. Just like me she has a promising life that shouldn’t end behind bars, let’s try to fix the broken one she has alre-ady for the best of humanity. What gain are we having if she remains locked up here? You know that wont bring your husband back, but you have his murderer that should be enough, i said and she shook her head not believing me.

“Why are you doing this? The DPO asked me.
“I believe everyone deserves a second chance and can turn a new leaf if showed love, I replied.

“Not everyone, the woman said.
“You can never tell if you don’t try, it wont hurt if we try Favour this once, i said and the woman heaved looking at the DPO.

“Joan don’t worry you can go, we will talk about this ourselves, the man said and I nodded.
“Thank you sir, thanks ma, i said to them and left to meet my family in the hospital…………

I arrived and saw my dad eating and hvgged him,
“Spoken to her? My dad asked and i knew they told him where I’m coming from.
“Yes dad and I hope they do something, the right thing, i replied and he smiled.

“I grew up a pas-sionate daughter who is not blinded by hate and anger, he said and i smiled.
“There’s no use for hate when it reduces ones life span, i said.

“Said by who? Peter asked.
‘Uhmmm let’s say science, i replied Peter and my dad laughed.

“Care to research on it? My mom asked Peter.
“I Rather research more on my engineering, he replied.

“I’m glad its all over now, i can breathe well, my dad said.
“This has been one of the troublesome moments our family has ever recorded, my mom said.

“What’s important is we conquered it together, Peter said.
“Yes and I saw two cops handcuffed this morning, i guess the wind is gradually b!owing the betrayer as-s one by one, I said.

“That’s great, I’m leaving here today, i have my business to return to. No time for dull moments anymore, my dad said.

“You mean you’re resuming your business? Like in this state? My mom asked.
“Sure, you know how many clients are waiting? My dad asked.

“Daddy! I and Peter shouted…….

2 days later we were at home about to have our breakfast to hurry up to our different places when we heard the door bell rang,
“Expecting anyone so early today? My dad asked mom.
“No, my mom replied and attem-pted to go open up.

“Come in the door is open! Peter shouted when it rang again.
“Peter you didn’t lock the door? My mom asked him.

“Not that we are hiding any human head here, Peter replied and my mom gave him a killer look and we heard the door opened which my mom peeped from the dinning where we sat.

“Joan, my mom slowly called out as her eyes was still fixed on who we have no idea about.
“Who’s that? I asked getting up and I saw Favour.

She was so thin and miserable as I stood speechless looking at her,
“Oh so you c@m£, Peter said folding his hand when no one was saying anything and I breathed out and approached her where she stood quietly with her mom.

“plea-se we c@m£ to apologize to your family, I know I have been coming alone but we are here today to apologize again, her mom spoke out and I looked at Favour and felt like crying at her sight.
Truth be told ever since she got arrested I haven’t seen her, and now I’m regretting with just a mere look at her sight.

“Joan I’m sorry, I know my words right now won’t mean anything, but I want to let you know I’ve been longing to say this to you even right there in cell. I’m sorry, and I apologize for dragging you in this mess and to think you c@m£ speaking out for me is ma-king me more ashamed of myself, Favour said bowing her head and i slowly raised it up to face mine.

“Its okay, everything is over now and this won’t repeat itself again, I said.
“This is my fault, I failed as a mother even when I got separated from her dad. I thought I will raise her well all by myself but i was so wrong, maybe she wouldn’t have turned this way if she was un-der the influence of her father, Favour mom said.

“No don’t say that, you tried your best and its not your fault. You think its easy being a single parent? No its not easy, and if a child wants to go a wrong way he or she will still go whether the parents are single or complete. But I’m sure your daughter is back, my mom said.
“Her father blames me and left everything on my shoulders, her mom sadly said cleaning her tears and my mom hvgged her.

I slowly took Favour hand and gave a smile,
“Let’s get prepared for school, I said and she scoffed.
“School, she asked.

“Yes, of course, I replied happy.
“No no no I’m not even thinking about that, what will they say about me when the news has spre-ad so wi-de. I know I’ll be re-moved if I step my legs there, Favour said.

“That’s right, Peter said and I looked at him.
“What? But that’s the truth, the school won’t take her back, Peter said and I heaved.

“You don’t tell if you don’t try, don’t worry I’ll speak with the administrator, I said.
“As my lawyer or what? Joan just forget it, I’m leaving, Favour said.

“You are? I asked.
“Yes to start a new life and let you have yours, so I c@m£ to say goodbye and to apologize I guess, Favour said and I felt a stench of anger in her voice and I nodded.

“Right no problem, just make sure you don’t let what just happened shape you negatively, I said.
“I’ll try my best, Favour said and left the house leaving her mom still in.

“Are you sure she’s sorry? Peter asked with her attitude while I just look mouth opened surprised if it was the same person who was apologizing head bowed.
“plea-se I’m so sorry about this, she is still angry with everyone. And I’ll be taking her out of the state, I hope it helps her, her mom said.

“Don’t worry, I think out of the state is a very good idea, my dad finally spoke up.
“Thanks again, good bye, her mom said and left and Peter breathed out.

“Okay, if the drama is over the food will soon get cold, Peter said and my mom laughed.
“Peter when will you ever be sober? My mom asked.

“She doesn’t look she was sorry after all, all i see is fake emotions, my dad said as we returned to the dinning.
“If she’s not sober is it me to take the p@rt for her? Peter asked.

“Whatever, if she likes she change, if she likes she takes over her cousin, if she likes let her be sober, Joan doesn’t care and is not surprised either, and I’m satisfied with my free conscience, I said.
“Okay aunty consciencer can we plea-se pray for the food? I’m running late, Peter said with a frown………….

A week later Favour cousin was thor0ûghly maltreated and she confessed who arranged for the poison,
“I was alre-ady planning to come down for holiday because its been long I last visited. Then i met with one of the guys who told me there’s a job to be done. I told him I c@m£ to rest and not for jobs but he said its simple and not something stressful, she said.

“Then! An officer shouted.
“We found out there’s a p@rty he was to attend, before the p@rty I tried s£dûç!ng him to make it easy, but he was head over heels with a p@rticular lady so I pla-yed cool and informed the guys about it. Then I thought Favour will be okay and fast to get him…. At least as an insider, but then Favour linked me to Joan and i found out she’s been hating on her for a while now.
Everything was re-ady and I got to the p@rty after knowing his best drink is Campari, I made sure I kept a special bottle for him and just as we expected he inquired for it and it was given to him to take him straight to hell, she said and a loud sl@p was give to her.

“Who set him up? Who paid you to kill him? An officer shouted and she laughed with her bleeding mouth.
“Someone close to him, he denied him of something and it was best to kick him out of the way in a suitable way he won’t be close as the suspect, she replied.

“Who! The woman shouted.
“The one he pla-ys lawn tennis with every weekend, the one he drinks and p@rty with, she replied and the woman eyes bulged out in shock.

“No no no this can’t be! She shouted not believing it and it was so obvious the person was indeed very close.
“Take her away! An officer shouted and Favour cousin was dragged away when the woman was still breathing ha-rd still in shock.

We esc-rted her home after the cops went over to get the culprit,
“Are you okay ma? My mom asked after ma-king her sit on the sofa.
“I honestly don’t know, my husband made that man who he is today, but what did he do? He repaid him by poisoning him, yet he c@m£ here wailing and cursing whoever did it. In fact he was the one who pushed me to deal with Joan when she was suspected as the murderer, then he went to the back corrupting the CCTV videos just to pin Joan down with the case and get free. All this from someone my husband eats with, the woman said shedding tears and I weakly looked at my mom.

“Is it safe to trust anyb©dy again in this world? My mom asked.
“Its safe when its just you, the woman painfully replied………

The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies.
Life has taught me that you can’t control someone’s loyalty. So try not to stress over the shady people who betrayed you.
