< Daphne's House >
“My head hurts ” Daphne groan out as she sat up on the bed.
The last thing she remembered was leaving the club.
“Your finally up” Her father said gruffly by the door way.
“Yes, I am” she muttered in return knowing the series of insults that will follow.
“Get dress and come downstairs. Don’t keep your boyfriend waiting, he had to go through a lot just to get you home last night”
“I will…wait dad! What do you mean by my boyfriend?” Daphne asked.
“The rich dude who brought you home last night. I thought you weren’t going to to do as I say but you did and am very proud of you” her father said this with a wide grin on his face before leaving the room.
Daphne sat still for a while wondering who the rich boyfriend is and when she could think of no one , she hurriedly went downstairs to see who it was.
And there is Foster seated in their kitchen while munching on his breakfast.
“Join us Daphne, your father is a great cook” Foster said urging her to join them and slowly she went to join them.
“I never knew my father to be a cook since he’s never cooked for me” she said this while glaring at her father.
“That’s because it wasn’t worth cooking for you back then” Her father answered not caring if his answer hurt Daphne.
“You never seem to care if your words hurt me or not!” She let out in anger.
“Then you shouldn’t have been born! You shouldn’t have been born and become a burden to me! ”
” How is that my fault? How is it my fault that I was born into this world!” She retaliated which got her father hitting the table angrily.
“I don’t care whose fault it is! What matters now is how long have had to put up with you. You’ve been nothing but a burden in my life but still, I clothe and fed you and now that it’s time for you to do the samey, you begin to complain!”
“A child can only take care of a parent who is a real parent and you aren’t that , father!” Daphne retaliated and that earned her a slap on the face.
“I think you both should stop” Foster said as he got in between them.
“Tell it that ungrateful daughter of mine!”
“I hate you dad” Daphne muttered before running outside.
Foster went after her and caught up with her in the front yard.
“What do you want! Do you want to make fun of me while I cry?” Daphne asked as she wipe away her tears.
“No, I only want to give you a hug” Foster answered wondering why he felt hurt at seeing her cry.
He let her cry her eyes out till she could cry no more.
“Now that you’ve seen how my father is you must probably think me to be….”
“Shhhh….I don’t think you to be anything infact due to what happened in there, I got to know more about you. You’ve been having a hard time due to your father, it must have been hard for you?” Foster asked and she could only nod in return.
“I want to help you Daphne” he suddenly said.
“I don’t want your money if that’s the help you are offering” Daphne stated firmly and was about to leave when he took hold of her hand.
“Let me keep pretending to be your boyfriend, let me keep on acting like the rich boyfriend who loves and spends on you a lot” he said while she stood in silence starring at him.

“Must you really follow me? Everyone will know that am not the only guy with this face on earth” Ashton complained as Ryan walk by his side.
“It’s time they know and it’s time those girls stop gaping over you and besides you are yet to thank me for helping you talk to Charmaine” Ryan said playfully.
“I didn’t ask you to, I could have handled it myself” Ashton replied which got Ryan chuckling.
“Will you be pursuing Charmaine or will you let her slip into the hands of another?” Ryan asked.
“You know that that is the last thing I want. If it were up to me, she would be by my side right now but she…she says she isn’t ready for love” Ashton said feeling a little defeated.
“Do you intend to give up?” Ryan asked.
“Never. It’s just that I don’t know how to court her gently, you know how crazy I get when I want a girl to be mine” Ashton replied slowly.
“If you can’t court her in a gentle way then court her crazily. Don’t force yourself to be what you aren’t just so you can win a girl’s heart just do what you are best at ” Ryan advised.
“And besides, you are the bad boy while I am the good one, so leave the gentle courting to me while you go for the crazy courting ” Ryan added.
“You are crazy” Ashton joked softly.
His gaze caught Charmaine standing away with another girl.
“There’s my girl” Ashton said as a smile lit his face, Ryan followed his gaze only to see Jessie.
“Who’s the girl with her? They both look serious ” Ashton added.
“They have to since their conversation is that of the past, let’s just wait here till they are both done” Ryan suggested.
“Am really sorry Charmaine! Can you find it in your heart to forgive me” Jessie begged with tears in her eyes but Charmaine was unmoved by it.
“You were my only confidant, you were my best friend. I loved you more than I loved my sister, I was willing to do anything for you but what did I get in return, your disloyalty and betrayal” Charmaine yelled as she pulled her hand out of hers.
“I know that I had hurt you in the past, I had chosen love over our friendship and I regret it. I regret letting you leave that day without asking for your forgiveness. I missed you Charmaine” Jessie whispered the last part which brought tears into Charmaine eyes.
“Well I didn’t miss you and thanks to what you did, I met new friends. Friends who are more better than you, they never take me for granted, they are always by my side and they won’t ever betray me like you did!”
“So do me a favour and stay away from me. We both came here to study, let’s face that and mind each other business” Charmaine added and made to leave only to see Ashton and Ryan.
Wiping off her tear, she walk off while Ashton followed leaving Jessie and Ryan alone.
Jessie wipe her eyes too, wanting to leave but Ryan stopped her.
“Are you okay?” Ryan asked worriedly and her answer was to pull away from him.
“Get away from me” Jessie muttered as she turn to leave but he stood in her path.
“You don’t look okay, let me….”
“I told you to get away from me, Ryan!” She yelled and that got him moving away from her.
“Do you think that after what happened , you have the right to come back into my life, offering me your damn help?”
“I certainly don’t need it and If it’s possible, I never want to see you again” she added as she made to leave but what he said next got her stopping in her track.
“I thought you will be over what happened in the past! I made it clear to you that I had to leave so why are you being a bitch about it?”
“What did you just say?” Jessie asked slowly.
“I said that you should stop dwelling on the past. It happened already, so stop making me feel bad and try to….” He didn’t get to finish his sentence because she slap him on the face.
“You jerk! I had given you my everything, I even threw away my friend for your sake and all I ever asked for was your love”
“But when…when you got the offer to study for two years in the school you’ve always wanted to go to, you left without thinking about me”
“Yes. You told me about it but if you had truly love me, you wouldn’t have left. You wouldn’t have abandoned me when I needed you the most! I had nothing, I chose you and lost every other thing and what I do I get in return, your betrayal”
“What betrayal are you talking about?”,
“I saw it, Ryan! It was only a month after you left. I happen to be working part-time in a hospital, one of the nurses was boasting about her niece dating one of the senators son. You have no idea how much I prayed it was Ashton but on seeing the pics, I knew it was you”
“Jessie, I have an….”
“Just save it, Ryan. I don’t care anymore and that’s because I no longer care about you. Just like you said, it’s all in the past and it’s best we keep it that way” Jessie ended before walking off.

“Are you okay?” Ashton voice drifted to Charmaine.
She quickly wipe off her tears and turned to stare at him.
She had seen him earlier and not wanting him to be around her when she cried, she found a empty class but Ashton had followed her.
“I am okay. Why do you ask?” Charmaine asked.
“You don’t have to pretend with me, if you want to cry then do it ” He urge as he walk towards her.
” Let me be your crying buddy” Ashton added and that did it cause Charmaine couldn’t restrain herself and ended up crying in his arms.
“I really loved her, I considered her as my sister but then she betrayed me. She hurt me terribly and now she’s sorry! ” Charmaine sob out.
“Just cry it all out, I will be here with you” Ashton said as he gave her the comfort she wanted.
“Am sorry, I didn’t mean to ruin your clothes with my tears” she apologise as she wipe off his shirt..
When she realise that she was initiating an intimacy by wiping the front of his shirt, she quickly pulled away.
“I need to get to my part time job” she said wanting to leave but he pulled her back into his arms.
“Isn’t it time we talk about us?” He asked
“What do we have to talk about?” She ask a bit breathlessly.
“Will you give me the chance to court you?” He asked slowly.
“I already told you that I don’t want to…what are you doing?” She asked when he lifted her on the desk.
“Ryan told me to do what have always done and I Intend to do it” Ashton said.
“And what is it?” Charmaine asked.
Moving towards her ear, he whispered into it.
“I intend to court you crazily ” with that said, his hands snake up around her @ss and held onto it
