Angel of mine episode 24

🍇ANGEL OF MINE 🍇

in-sert 24

I sat in the room monitoring him; Ernest had gone out and left me in charge. There was just something about him that I could. You know what? It was probably nothing but I just couldn’t help it to think that he might be somehow related to Mama Maria. Why I am having such thoughts? No one has visited him and I just felt as if he belonged with Mama Maria. You know what? Let’s just forget it, they are probably not related at all.

‘Have something to eat,’ she said and I didn’t even hear her walking in the room.

She was Ernest’s girlfriend and she sounded like a good person, well she was a good person.

‘Well I am not that hungry,’ I said to her.

I don’t know what was with me. I never felt hungry whenever I was taking care of a patient.

‘You have been sitting there the whole day and you even sle-pt here,’ she said to me.

‘I am fine love. You don’t nee-d to worry about me.’

I was just feeling nervous about everything. We had given him the antidote last night but he hasn’t woken up and I thought maybe he was rejecting it. I don’t know how she got out of the room but when I looked back few minutes after, she was gone. She must have left when she saw how distracted I was with the whole situation. Once she was out, I checked the drip ma-king sure that it was well put. I was tired and hungry but I couldn’t leave his sight unless he wakes up. I last talked to Mama Maria in the morning when I woke up as she was asking me about the patient.

Anyway I decided to go and find myself something to eat. As I was walking out of the room, I felt his hand on mine and when I turned back, he had opened his eyes.

‘Oh my God!’ I exclaimed with happiness and quic-kly re-moved the thing from his mouth.

I gr@bbÂŁd the bottle of water which I had placed on the table. Most patients wake up with dry throats and I helped him drink the water. I was so happy that I could k!sshim right now but that will be inappropriate.

‘Are you feeling okay?’ I asked him just after placing back the bottle of water on the table.

‘Yes, I am okay,’ he said and feigned a smile.

‘Do you remember your name? Are you feeling any pain? Do you nee-d anything to eat?’

He just smiled at me and I felt like a fool asking all those questions. I just wanted to make sure that he was okay.

‘I feel much better and I am okay. I don’t remember what happened and how I ended up here but where is my mother?’

Now there goes trouble, this is when I nee-ded to call Ernest and tell him to come back to the hospital because I had no answers to his questions.

*

I am here at her house to talk to her. Sometimes I don’t un-derstand myself, seriously I don’t. I love Emily like crazy knowing very well that she is evil but here I am at her house. I open the door and it’s not locked at all. As I walk inside the house, the house is dirty and boxes of takeaways are just all over the floor. Emily is sitting down on the floor.

‘Emily,’ I call out her name.

She raises her head up high and her eyes are puffy from all the crying.

‘Ernest,’ she says and starts crying.

I walk to her and kneel down on the floor, while engulfing her into a ti-ght hvg. She cries for a while and I am just patting her back. I know she has done so many terrible things but we can’t ignore the fact that she is my sister by blood and there is no way that I will abandon her. I manage to calm her down and even clean the house for her as she is taking a bath. When I am done cleaning the house, I prepare some food for us and by the time she comes down, I have finished. We eat in silence and I can’t help it but notice how broken she looks. I bet she had been worried about her husband.

‘I

took Jamal,’ I finally said and she puts the spoon down and looks at me.
She is confused and I know that from her facial expression. Well I didn’t mean to hide the truth from her. She is the one who poisoned him and I am sure of it.

‘Ernest.’

‘Tell me the truth Emily. What really happened?’

‘Jamal’s mother tried to kill me but instead Jamal was the one who ate my food.’

‘Damn it Emily!’ I ban-g my fist on the table startling her in the process, ‘Enough with the lies alre-ady. Can’t you see what you have done? You almost killed your husband.’

‘It was his mother Jamal.’

Right now I could honestly say that Emily deserved to be locked in a mental hospital. She knows the whole truth and keeps on lying. I am not going to believe her because I know that she is lying.

‘What is wrong with you Emily? We both know that you are lying and I am going to tell Jamal the truth.’

‘You wouldn’t.’

I w
,’ I st©p at mid-sÂŁntence when my phone rings.

When I answer it, it’s Angela who had called to let me know that Jamal has woken up and he is asking for his wife and mother. I hang up and look at Emily.

‘Jamal is awake and I am going to tell him the truth,’ I said gr-abbing my car keys from the table.

‘No, don’t Ernest,’ she shouts and I look back.

‘Enough

with that fake innocent look Emily. How can you be so cruel? I will tell Jamal the truth that you are the one who poisoned him. Jamal deserves someone better and that person is not you Emily. You are evil and a destroyer,’ I say to her.
‘Don’t tell Jamal the truth Ernest.’

‘Give me a reason why I shouldn’t tell him?’

‘Because I am carrying his child.’

I laugh a little.

‘One of your lies Emily. Do you seriously think that I would believe you right now? How many times have you lied to me?’

‘I am not lying. I have been experiencing some sickness and I went to Prisca’s hospital where I had some tests done on me. I am pregnant Ernest; I am expecting his child and I don’t think you would want this baby to grow up without a father and a mother. Will you? Jamal and I have been though a lot together and this baby nee-ds both of his parents, I won’t let you and anyb©dy else ruin what I have achieved so far. Jamal will always be mine and no one else. I don’t care about that woman and if you tell Jamal the truth, I will kill her and her death will be on you. I am sure Jamal doesn’t remember what happened. Let’s got to the hospital together and tell him that he reacted to some food and had been in a comma. I will spare that woman’s name for now. I won’t tell Jamal that his mother tried to kill me. It was his mother who tried to kill me not the other way round. Are we together Ernest?’

I was beyond shocked by what she just told me and I followed her outside as we walked to my car. She waited for me to unlock the car and got inside. The drive to my hospital was quiet, I was more than re-ady to tell Jamal the truth but now I was having second thoughts. I didn’t want the baby to grow up without a father or a mother but did my sister really deserve to be a parent? Not wanting to explore all those questions running throu-gh my mind, I choose to ignore them and focus on the driving. I know I will never change my sister and her evil deeds.

We arrive at the hospital and Emily lead the way inside. I am just thinking of so many things right now when she gr-abs my hand.

‘Don’t

tell him,’ she says and I open the door.
I find Jamal sitting on the be-d and he looks so much better than before.

‘Babe,’ Emily exclaims and runs to him.

The two hvgged, if only she knew the kind of person he was with. I close the door and I am surprised that Angela is not in the room? Where could she have gone too?

‘She stepped out to make a phone call,’ said Jamal.

‘It’s good to have you back,’ I said hvgging him.

‘Babe, do you remember what happened to you?’ she asks.

‘Not quiet sure,’ he says to her and I bet she is happy right now.

‘Oh you are here.’

We all turn to look at the door and it’s Angela.

‘I have some great news for you,’ she says to me.

‘And who is she?’ Emily asks.

‘The woman that saved my life. It’s all thanks to her and your brother that I am alive,’ says Jamal.

‘Hie, I am Angela.’

Angela extends her hand to great my sister but she just looks aside. I just shake my head.

‘The good news?’ I say breaking the awkward tension.

‘Can we talk in pri-vate,’ said Angel and we walked out of the room to my office, ‘Oh yes the woman I was treating for her wound on the leg. Her name is Mama Maria; I as-sume she is his mother right? I s£nt her a ph0to of him and
’

‘Angela you are an angel,’ I say to her and hvg her.

She is a real angel.

‘Thank you Angela.’

I know that Emily had thrown her out but now Jamal didn’t know.

‘So Jamal doesn’t know that his mother is in another City.’

‘Don’t worry, I will ask dad to drive her here. We will just tell Mama Maria what she is supposed to do,’ said Angela.

I didn’t tell her that it was my sister who poisoned him. I guess she had alre-ady figured it out, Angela was a clever woman.

‘Well I nee-d to go and get some rest. I am happy that he is okay. I will be at the h0tel if you nee-d anything, my job here is done,’ she said gr-abbing her bags.

‘Thank you so much and I will forever be in your debt.’

‘No, I am just here to help you out as a friend. John is here, I should get going. Goodbye,’ she hvgs me and walks out of my office.

She is a lovely woman and any man to marry her; he was going to be very lucky. I decided to sit in my office since Emily was with her husband. At least Jamal had woken up and at the end of the day no one died.
