Shamefully, she walked, holding back her tears. Her hands in which she held her books quivered, while her legs seemed not to carry her body weight any longer. She wished the ground opens and swallow her due to the humiliation. That was what her mother couldn’t comprehend, even her best friend, Antonia.

Festus stood un-der the tree alone, watching as Kris walked to Antonia who’s eyes was directed to Rachael, sharing in her disappointment. “I wish I never for-ced her against her will. She warned me” she regretted within herself.

Just before Rachael stretched to a distance, she heard a male voice that called her, “Miss Ojile!” She stopped instantly not wanting to look back. The voice came from un-der the tree, Yes, she knew that but who could have called her from there using her surname? Rachael wondered, thus accruing not only her heartbeat but also her blood pressure. “A teacher calls me by that name but the last time i checked no teacher was un-der the tree. Could it be Kris? No… oh… how I wish he’s the one to, at least, wipe away the shame.” she kept battling with obnoxious thought. Now, she had to confirm it, so she inhaled de-eply a large quantity of oxygen in a way her ne-ck muscles contracted and turned, letting out for-cefully the carbon dioxide that saturated her lungs. She saw Festus stretching a pen to her from the tree.

“You dropped your pen!” the young boy said. Only then did Rachael realize that he was the one that called her by that name, but wondered why. She nee-ded to get upset but since it came from a guy, and, yes, which ha-rdly happens, she found it rather R0m-ntic than offensive. Rachael began to go back, though didn’t show any sign of relieve.

On the other hand, Antonia angrily kicked Kris’ leg. The boy screamed, raising one of his legs in pain.

“What was that for!?” he shrieked.

“For being so dumb!” She pinched his arm muscle.

“Ouch!” the boy responded to the painful stimulus.

“Now, what a heck do you want from me?!”

“To collect the note I borrowed you.”

“That’s why your eyes are blind and your senses dumb. fu-ck you!” she walk-p@$$ed him exactly the way he did to Rachael.

Meanwhile, Rachael had collected the pen from Festus. “Thank you.” She appreciated. “But why calling me by my…”

“I’m sorry, I emulated the teachers” Festus interrupted her.

Rachael felt a hand that dragged her along, leaving the place briskly. She didn’t nee-d a susayer to tell her it was Antonia dragging her.

“Don’t mind them” Antonia muttered on their way. However, Kris had been staring at them, wondering what came over Antonia.

It was break period. Students hung around at several places, chatting and pla-ying especially the juniors. One could see Jimmy still skating as if that was the only thing he knew how to do. Rachael could be seen with Antonia lic-king some stick of ice-scream beside a relaxation sp-ot where other students were chatting. Rachael sighted Miss Bonita, their mathematics teacher, trying to recall what she taught them that morning.

“Rachael get your mind here!” The teacher had shouted at her inside the cl@$$ which brou-ght her out from lust worries of her problem, thus, startling her. “..two angles are Adjacent when they have a common side and a common vertex (corner point) and don’t overlap. … they have a common side (line CB) they have a common vertex (point B).”

That seems like the only thing Rachael learned from the cl@$$ because her attention was greatly called. The poor girl exhaled beside Antonia then lic-ked a large quantity of ice-cream as if it was the cause of her problem.

“I’m really sorry about earlier, Rachael” Antonia told her. “But I ha-rdly see you mingle with men. What’s the problem with you and them and none seems to notice…”

“Hey, madam!” Rachael interrupted her. “Be careful before you break the yoke.”

“What a heck do you mean by that?”

Just then, one of the few students at the relaxation sp-ot said, “Let’s pla-y truth or dare!”

“We gonna pla-y too” Rachael dragged Antonia to the place instantly in order to wave off the topic that would have hurt her so badly. Kris appeared at the place with his hands inside his pocket, though p@$$ing.

“Hey, Kris!” Antonia called him. He walked closer to them. “We’re pla-ying truth or dare. Do you wanna join, please, say yes!” she wore an adorable and irresistible face.

Kris smiled as Rachael admired him once again, feeling her heartbeat. “Okay, yes” he replied.

“I go first.” Antonia swiftly cheep in. “Kris, truth or dare?” she asked. Everybody’s eyes went to the young boy.

Kris kept smiling. “Dare” he chose.

“I dare you to take Rachael’s ice-cream, feed her and kizz her.”

Hearing that, Rachael secretly tapped Antonia who pretended she didn’t notice.

“Kris do it, do it, do it,” the members persuaded hilariously. To Rachael’s amazement, Kris began to walk to her, he pulled her up from the cemented seat, took the ice-cream, fed her and slowly kizzed her! That was not only the best moment but also the best day for Rachael as she was feeling his li-ps.

“Am I dreaming?” she thought with her eyes still closed…….

There was a R0m-ntic and emotional atmosphere created by the gentle kizz Kris placed on Rachael’s li-ps. Some female students let out a mo-an , wishing to be in her shoes. Yes, even some male students, but if they could foresee or acknowledge the horrible consequences that awaits the young boy for that act, none would dream of setting eyes on Rachael thoughtless of kizzing her.

Nevertheless, Rachael gazed at Kris when he stopped the kizz. It wasn’t a dream neither was it an imagination! She stared into his eyes, wishing to have more of it. Unfortunately, the boy she was emotionally dying for, sarcastically handed the ice-cream back to her. “I’ll be leaving now.” he glanced at Antonia then left the place, yet Rachael couldn’t believe it, lust at his attrac-tive footsteps, but the sound of a ringing school bell brou-ght her out from the endless delusion.

The students cursed as they dispersed to their various cl@$$rooms coz time couldn’t let them have another best pa-rt of the ‘truth or dare’ game.

“I have finally broken the yoke, Rachael” Antonia whispered into the ears of her friend.

“Which yoke?” Rachael queried.

“How should I know what you meant when you mentioned it first?”

“I said yolk not yoke”

“What’s the difference?” Antonia spr-ead her hands.

Rachael smiled. “Yes, Antonia. Whatever i meant, whether yolk or yoke, all we know is that something has been broken” she said, still staring at the direction Kris followed. Antonia was not only pleased with her friend’s joyful smile but also her own actions to make up for earlier humiliation.

“I will smash the remaining yolk with a yoke on you, yokels if you don’t respond to the bell!” A de-ep voice startled them from behind. They screamed and ran away, giggling amusingly.

That was Mr Kim, their disciplinary master. Unknowingly to them, he had been behind, listening to everything they said. He was hu-ge and dark, feared by all the students. He stood there, still listening to the girls from afar.

“Did you hear another one from Mr Kim; yokel” Rachael said.

“Yes, three different words” Antonia concured.

“Yolk, yoke, yokel!” they said at the same time, laughing happily.

Mr Kim couldn’t help but to smile at their curiosity on the three words. Of course he knew they were confused by the initial two. That’s why he used them in a sentence, adding another one to them as a form of education. He believe they’ll make their research.

Mr Kim was an unbeliever, an atheist precisely, but something happened when he entered into his office. One could see a table filled with books, on the walls were different calendar for different year. The master loves listening to radio, so on the table, beside a book, rested a black Kasio radio which battery was removed by Mr Kim to boost its capacity un-der radiation. Therefore, he had collected the battery from outside to the office to get his radio active again but, surprisingly, the radio without battery said, “Isaiah 58:6.”

Hearing that, the man stood at a sp-ot with the battery still in his hand. He looked around the office, slowly turned the radio to see the battery arena empty. “Am i hallucinating?” he began to think. “No, I heard it loud and clear. It came from this radio.”

Quickly, the young man, brou-ght out his phone to search for the bible verse on Google coz he had no bible, judging from his belief and personality. He fli-pped to the verse that says, “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?”

Goose bumps escalated on the body of Mr Kim after reading it. His feelings could not be explained even scientifically as he was subdued to a de-ep thought. “What’s the meaning of this?” he was thinking. He was not only confused by the verse which is related to what Rachael and Antonia battled with, but also the big question mark at the end of the bible verse. “What is the revelation of this message?” he murmured.

School dismissed for the day. The humiliating day suddenly turned to a happy day for Rachael, strange day for Mr Kim and yet to be a horrible day for Kris. Which is to say that something mysterious and spiritual was revolving around.

Mr Kim, from his office, watched students troop out from their cl@$$es, chattering like market women. He sighted Rachael and Antonia then called, “Miss Frank!”

Antonia turned coz that was her surname. She glanced at Rachael before she left to answer the master, wondering what her offense was. ..The young girl stood before the hu-ge black man, of course, politely like student with a teacher.

“Good afternoon sir”

“May I ask the root of your discussion with miss Ojile earlier today?” Mr Kim asked critically demonstrating with his hand.

Bemused, Antonia narrowed her face. “Sir, I don’t un-derstand.” she replied.

“I mean the yolk, yoke thing”

Antonia un-derstood, but how can she explain to the man about boys’ phobia to Rachael which she was not even fully made to un-derstand by Rachael herself. So she smiled and said, “Sir, it was nothing serious. It was just.. just…”

“Miss Frank, I want you to un-derstand that this isn’t a joking matter.” the man seriously interrupted her. Antonia could see it on his face and hear it from his voice. She suddenly went dumb. Of course the poor girl didn’t know what to say again.

“Miss Frank?”

“Sir, is anything the matter?” the young girl found her voice.

Mr Kim exhaled. “You may go” he discharged her.

Rachael couldn’t wait for Antonia to let the cat out of the bag when she returned to her. So she asked, “What does the black man want?”

“He was acting weird” Antonia replied as both was walking towards the main road. “Actually, he wanted to know the root of our discussion earlier; about the yolk, yoke, yokel of a thing.” She chuckled, while Rachael laughed.

11:55pm
A heavy rain began in the city. Kris was doing an @$$ignment inside his room that moment. Suddenly, the light went off thereby making everywhere dark. He located a torchlight which he put on, then his attention went to a window, rattled by wind. He slowly walked there to close it, but surprisingly saw a shadow standing outside un-der the heavy rain. He flashed his torch at the person but couldn’t see him again. Immediately he off the torchlight, the shadow appeared again. Terrified, he hurriedly close the window, only to turn to see the shadow on the wall.

“Amaya’s destiny is mine!” a voice came from the wall. Kris screamed and fell on the floor…..
