CHAPTER 67&68

{ EXPOSED }

On getting there, she pushed the door open without even knocking.

“Surprise, hon_”

The rest of her words got stuck in her throat when she saw the scene in front of her.
______

Sandra was bent over the desk while Marshall stood behind her, f**king her aggressively from behind when they heard a voice from the door, bringing their movement to a halt.

Marshall quickly pulled out his d**k from her p*ssy and turned around, his eyes went wide open as nervousness and fear overtook him when he saw his wife.

Sandra had a mischievous smirk on her face as she turned around to face her lover’s wife. She didn’t even bother to pull her skirt up and cover her nakedness. She felt no shame about what she was caught doing with a married man. She doesn’t give a shit about anything at all.

Felicia blinked repeatedly, the bag she was holding slipped from her fingers and dropped to the ground but fortunately, the food didn’t pour.

“Hon… honey, it’s not what you think. I swear.” He began, pulling his trousers up to his waist.

The typical word of a cheater was the first thing that fell of his mouth.

Felicia’s gaze moved to Sandra who was still smirking like she has won a medal, leaning on the desk with her p*ssy on full display for everyone in the room to see.

“Honey,” Marshall took a step close to her but she quickly backed away from him like he was a disease and she was afraid of getting afflicted.

“How… how can you do this to me?” She breathed out, tears trailing down her face.

“I can explain. I swear it is not what you thin_”

“WHAT DO YOU THINK I AM THINKING!?” She said at the top of her lungs, cutting him off from whatever bullshit he was going to say. “Do I look like a fool to you?”

“Technically, you are a fool.” Sandra said, grabbing the attention of the married couple as she pulled up her skirt and started arranging herself. “Your dear husband has been f**king his colleague and you knew nothing about it. Doesn’t that make you a fool?”

“Sandra shut up.” Marshall groaned.

“What? I am only telling her the truth.” She shoved the strand of hair in her face to the back of her ear, pushing herself from the desk and stepping towards them. “We have been dating for years, Marshall. Your wife should know about it, don’t you think?”

“Yea… years?” Felicia repeated, facing her husband. “Tell me she’s lying. You couldn’t have been cheating on me for years, right? You would never do that because you love me so much. Right?”

“What are you doing? Why are you doing these? I thought we agreed to continue this relationship only on the condition that my wife doesn’t find out about us?” He mumbled to Sandra, ignoring his wife’s question.

“Are you stupid?” Sandra retorted, rolling her eyes. “Do you really think I meant those things I said in the parking lot? You think I am obsessed with you and don’t want to lose you, isn’t it?” She chuckled, shaking her head. “You must be very stupid to think that of me, Marshall.”

“What… are you saying?” He stammered, raising a questioning brow in confusion.

“It was all a part of my plan, idiot. I told you I will make you pay for hurting me, didn’t I? Asking you to still be with me was to set you up. Honestly, I didn’t know your wife was going to come today but seems like the heavens are on my side after all.” She grinned.

“You didn’t want me back like you claimed in the parking lot. You wanted to get your revenge on me.” He said after putting two and two together.

“Bingo. Sweet revenge, don’t you think? I know my worth, Marshall. You have no f**king right to hurt me like the way you did. You want to be with your wife, right? You can be with her now. I don’t bloody care. It is over between us now.” She took a step towards the door and stopped beside Felicia who hasn’t said a word or made a move. “Just to make you feel less stupid… I was also a fool to believe that I was the only woman in his life. He toyed with my feelings and then decided to toss me aside like I was trash. I won’t let him get away with it so I decided to hurt him twice as hard as he did. I was supposed to have my fun with him first before you found out about us but turns out the heavens wanted you to find out like this.” She smiled and pulled the door open but didn’t leave the office. Yet. “I am going to give you this advice for free, Marshall loves you for your money. He wouldn’t dare deny that.” She winked and stormed out of the office, slamming the door closed.

“That bitch. She played me.” He exclaimed, balling his fist in anger.

Felicia grabbed the bag of food from the floor and then stared at Marshall for a moment before walking out of the office without saying anything to him.

“Honey!” He ran after her.

????Good afternoon, Dr. Sandra.
????Good afternoon, doctor.

Patients and nurses greeted Sandra as she walked past them.

She answered them with a bubbly feeling, a smile of victory on her face.

She just gave Marshall a dose of his medicine and she felt so proud of herself.

How dare he thinks he can hurt her like that and go away freely?

Who does he think he is?

She doesn’t care that his wife got hurt in the process of her revenge. The woman had it coming when she can’t even tame her husband.

Sandra dusted off imaginary dirt from her white coat, heading towards the elevator.

She pressed the button and waited for the doors to open when she heard heavy footsteps from behind.

She slowly turned around and the next thing that happened shocked her to the core.

Felicia poured pepper sauce into the doctor’s eyes.

“Take that, bitch!”

Sandra screamed in agony, looking for a way to wipe the pepper out of her eyes but it only got worse.

“You think you’ve won? How dare you? You should be ashamed of yourself.” Felicia spoke.

????What’s going on?
????Who is this woman?
????Oh, my God. I can’t imagine the pain Dr. Sandra is going through right now
????Shouldn’t this woman be arrested for assault?

Words flew past and the whole place was filled with mumbling and gasp.

Sandra waved her hands around, searching for support that she didn’t get. Unfortunately.

“Do you know who I am? How f**king dare you? Answer me.” Felicia screamed in anger.

“Honey, please calm down.” Marshall said from behind. “Stop creating a scene.”

She turned to him and smiled.

“I’m sorry. Why didn’t you tell me that your colleague has been forcing herself on you?” She asked.

“What?’ Sandra and Marshall said at the same time.

“You should have told me and I would have handled her earlier.” She stated. “I’m sorry for wasting the food I got for you. Here,” She gave him the small food cooler, containing a little pepper sauce. “You can manage this. I need to speak to Jersey and give him food as well. Take care of yourself.” She walked towards the elevator, pushed Sandra aside, and got inside.

The door closed and she pressed the twentieth button that led to her brother’s office while holding her breath.

••••

“Mr. Reid took the evidence we found at the crime scene,” Ginny said.

“I know. They need to run a laboratory test on the bottle they found in the scene.” Emma replied.

“Oh, yeah. I saw the bottle as well. I have a feeling that the bottle once contained poison.”

“Poison? Did you smell it?” Emma asked.

Ginny nodded her head as a yes.

“I did. But funny enough, it was odorless.”

“Thallium poison.”

“Exactly.”

The door opened and Robert walked in, burying his hands inside his pocket.

He was just clocking into work.

“Hey, Mr. Handsome,” Ginny giggled. “we’ve been waiting for you.”

“I’m sorry for coming to work late. I had a personal issue to resolve.” He said and took his seat beside Ginny.

“You should have taken permission, you know.” Emma told him and he nodded his head, giving her an apologetic look. “Hope everything is fine.”

He quickly nodded his head. “Yes. Of course. Everything is absolutely fine.”

Emma creased her brows at him, not expecting such a strange and suspicious reaction from him.

“Weird.” She muttered and then cleared her throat. “Anyway, back to the matter at hand.”

“Did I miss something important?” Robert asked the girls.

“Nope. Lucky you.” Ginny responded.

“Mr. Reid told me everything you guys found on the crime scene and he gave this to me as well.” She opened the desk and pulled out a phone inside a TEB (A transparent plastic and leak-proof bag with a strong adhesive seal) and dropped it on the table.

Robert collected it and immediately recognized it.

“Oh, that’s the phone of the victim. I found it. But Mr. Reid insisted that he hold on to it and give it to you himself since you are the team’s leader.” He stated.

“Yeah.”

“So are we going to go through the victim’s phone?” Ginny asked.

“Yes.” Robert and Emma answered at the same time.

“Isn’t that invasion of privacy?” She queried.

“She is dead, Ginny. And we need to see if there is any evidence we can find on her phone.” Robert explained.

Emma opened the TEB and dragged out the phone, and turned it on.

“Oh, shit.”

“What is it?” Her team asked, giving her a look of worry.

“There is a passcode. We can’t go through her phone without unlocking it first.”

“F**k.” Robert grunted.

“Let me try.” Ginny said and collected the phone from Emma. “1111” It was a wrong pin. She tried another pin but it was also wrong.

“How about her birthday? We could try that.” Robert suggested.

Emma took out the profile of Minty and went through it.

“June 16, 2000.” Emma recited.

“Ginny, try that.”

Ginny put the number ‘2000’ but it didn’t work.

“Wrong.” She announced. “Probably her boyfriend’s birthday?”

“Boyfriend?” Emma went through the profile and shook her head. “There is no information about her boyfriend.”

“Maybe she doesn’t have one.” Ginny sighed.

“Wait, Emma, have you forgotten?” Robert asked.

Emma raised a brow. “Forgotten what?”

“The night you, Minty, and I were leaving the hospital together. Remember she had a phone call and she left us afterward, seeming super excited about the caller.”

“That’s true.” Emma nodded her head in agreement.

“She might have a boyfriend,” Robert said.

“So because of a phone call, you think she has a boyfriend?” Ginny scoffed. “What if it was her parents calling?”

“She is an orphan.” He reminded.

“Oh, that’s right. Okay, maybe it’s a friend of hers.” Ginny said.

“Anything is possible. Maybe it was her boyfriend or friend. Either way, we need to get her phone unlocked and go through it.”

“If we suspect the killer from Santos Hospital, why do you think her phone has vital information?” Ginny questioned.

“Because Minty was a witness of what happened. She looks like a smart girl and something tells me that there is a video or recording on her phone that could be useful for this case.” Emma answered.

••••

Felicia knocked on the door and walked in without waiting for permission.

Jersey was typing something on his laptop when he noticed her presence.

He looked up at her with a deep frown on his face.

“What are you doing_” His voice trailed off when she started crying, crouching.

“He betrayed me.” She cried, squeezing her eyes shut.

Jersey hurriedly stood up and rushed to her side.

“What happened? Who betrayed you?” He worriedly asked, wrapping his arms around her body.

“Marshall…” She buried her face into his chest, crying profusely. “He cheated on me… Can you believe that? He hurt me, brother.”

Jersey’s face reddened in anger and he attempted to stand up and leave the office so he can go to Marshall and beat the crap out of the bastard but Felicia stopped him by clutching his arm.

“Don’t.”

“Why not?” He hissed. “How could that animal cheat on you, huh?”

“I will take care of him, please. Don’t go to him.” She pleaded.

Jersey released a deep breath and embraced his sister, securing her in his large arms.

“What do you want me to do?” He asked, planting a kiss on top of her head.

“Just hold me like this and don’t leave me.”

“I’m right here, baby sis. I won’t leave you. I promise.”

••••

Sandra carefully opened her eyes, blinking severally before her vision finally adjusted to the ray of sunlight.

Nurse Cora was standing beside her by the time she surveyed her surrounding.

She whined when she felt a little sting from the pepper sauce in her eyes.

“Are you okay, Doctor?” Cora asked.

“Mm-hmm.” She hummed in response. “I can’t believe that bitch would do this to me. She should be mad at her husband but instead, she did the complete opposite and almost blinded me. The nerves of that ingrate I helped show the true colors of her dear husband.”

“I don’t mean to be disrespectful, Dr. Sandra. But why did you do that?”

“Do what?”

“F**k someone else’s husband.”

“Who are you to judge me?” She snapped at the nurse. “Did you know that Marshall was a married man before now, huh? I am the victim here!”

“No, you are not. The victim is his wife and not you. Here is my advice for you, start looking for another job somewhere else.” Cora advised.

‘Oh, shit. She is right.’ Sandra pretended to be uninterested. “Where is Thelma?”

“She hasn’t resumed her shift. I tried calling her but she is not picking up the call.”

“That’s…odd.”

“I know, right? Thelma never comes late to work.”

••••

“Then we should dig deeper into Minty. She might have no family but she definitely has friends or even a boyfriend.” Robert slightly shrugged.

“Speaking of friends,” Emma began. “Do you remember how many people Minty told about what she saw during the night of the murder?”

Robert thought over it and frantically nodded his head.

“Yes. Luca and Sammy were there.” He said. “Do you think they are somehow involved?”

“I am trying to cross out the possibilities.” She stated. “It is coincidental for the murderer to know that Minty saw him/her the night they came out of Tara’s room. I mean, she knew it from the very beginning and nothing serious happened but immediately she told the four of us about it in the cafeteria, she died that very day.”

“Woah. Does that make the four of you suspects?” Ginny questioned, staring between Emma and Robert.

They both glared at her and ignored her statement.

“Should we call them over and interrogate them?” Robert asked.

“No. We are not yet done with the undercover mission so we can’t blow up our identity now. Tomorrow we will return to the hospital as janitors and this time around, Sammy and Luca will be part of the things/people we need to look out for.” She said.

“So now what?” Ginny asked.

“Ginny, you are going to go to the morgue while Dr. Abby performs the autopsy…”

“Wait, Dr. Abby? Isn’t that your friend?” Robert asked.

“Yes, it is her.” She responded. “I trust her more than I trust the doctors who performed the last autopsy of two years ago. Because if they were really killed by poison, how come it wasn’t detected by them?”

“Ah, that’s true. Does that mean the doctors are working for the killer?” Ginny frowned.

“Or maybe they are not competent.” Emma sighed. “Anyway, as I was saying. Take note of everything that goes on there. There has to be proof on traces of thallium poison on the victim’s body system.”

Ginny nodded her head, coming up to her feet. “Okay. Your friend is already there, right?”

“Yes. And oh, Chief Desmond mustn’t know that this case is linked to Santos Hospital. We can’t let him take it away from us.”

“Sure.” Robert and Ginny said.

“I will get going.” Ginny announced, picked up her cross-bag, and left the office.

“What about me?” Robert asked by the time they were alone.

“You are going to join me to interrogate the witness who reported the murder to the cop.” She answered. “But first, what happened?”

“What happened… where?”

“Don’t feign ignorance, Mr. Man. You obviously don’t look the brightest this morning. It’s fine if you don’t_”

“They are getting married.” He blurted out, cutting her off.

“I’m sorry, what?”

He sighed. “My best friend and enemy are getting married. And in case you are wondering who the enemy is, I’m talking about Tessa.”

“Tessa. Isn’t that the name of your sister?”

“She is not my sister.” He growled.

Emma raised her hands up in surrender.

“Congratulations to them.” She smiled.

“Congratulation?” His face hardened. “My best friend betrayed me.”

“I think you are exaggerating this whole thing, Robby.”

“Don’t give me that crap. He has been dating her for three years and f**king kept it away from me. What do you call that if not betrayal, huh?”

“I’m sure he wanted to tell you but was just scared of your reaction. Besides, look at how you are reacting now about the news.”

“Ugh. Let’s drop the conversation, Emma. I don’t want to talk about them.” He groaned.

“Rob, I know this is not in my place to ask but…can’t you just forgive your sister and move on from the_”

“Drop it, Emma.” He said in a cold voice. “Just as you’ve said, it is not in your place to ask that of me.”

“Oh. I’m sorry.” She rose to her feet. “Let’s go.”

Robert stood up at the same time her phone started ringing.

She answered the call when she saw it was Mr. Reid calling.

“Hello?” She answered.

“Am I onto Detective Emma?”

“Yes, you are. How did it go?” She asked.

“The result is out.” He paused. “You and your team’s speculation were right. The bottle has traces of thallium poison.”

“Thank you for the information.”

“You’re welcome. Call me whenever you need anything.”

She smiled. “I will. Bye.” She hung up the call.

“What did he say?” Robert asked.

“We were right. The bottle has traces of thallium poison. If there are likewise traces of thallium poison in Minty’s system then that will be a confirmation that the killer has been killing his/her victim with thallium.”

••••

The door opened and Ginny entered.

Abby turned to face the young girl.

“You must be Ginny,”

“And you must be Abby.” They nodded their heads, answering each other questions.

“You are late.”

“Sorry, I was stuck in traffic.” Ginny apologized.

“It’s fine. Now that you are here, let’s get to work.”

••••

Thelma was lying down unconscious on cold wet ground in a dark room, she was blindfolded.

A few minutes later, she regained consciousness but when she opened her eyes, she still couldn’t see anything because of the blindfold.

She tried to move her hands and legs but they were tied up.

“What’s going on? Where am I?” She asked out loud, breathing heavily.

“You are awake.” A deep voice said from behind and Thelma screamed in shock.

“Ahhh!”

The unknown stranger let out a deep chuckle. “Scream all you want, honey. No one is gonna hear you.” He paused. “…or safe you.”
