🌼A Wish🌼
Chapter 31

Brielle pov
I am really worried about Xavier and Jordan. Was there a fight? Did Jordan get scolded really bad by his scary brother?
“I’m so happy, happy, happy!” A cheerful voice made me snap my head to the door.
A grinning Jordan bounced in, followed by a grumpy Xavier, who was struggling to carry two luggages.
“Would you mind helping me with this and st©p singing like a parrot.” Xavier snapped, glaring at Jordan who’s response was to ignore Xavier and continue singing.
“Jordan so help me g-”
“You two are back!” I exclaimed, interrupting Xavier and running up to him.
Xavier let the luggages sl!pfrom his hand and wra-pped his arms around me, placing a soft k!sson the crown of my head.
I pu-ll-ed away from the hvg and worriedly checked his face and hands to see if there was any bruise.
“I’m so glad you’re alright.”
“Um, am also here, thanks for asking.” Jordan pipped in, an adorable frown on his face.
Before i could answer Jordan, Xavier spoke up. “Why wouldn’t i be alright, sweetheart?”
“Because i thought you were gonna get into a fight with Jordan’s brother.” I answered sheepishly.
“I would have, but i was trying to keep Jordan from having a panic attack, he looked like a small lamb when his brother scolded.” Xavier laughed, a smug sm-irk on hisl-ips as he stared at Jordan.
Jordan grimaced. “Gosh, i cant believe you told her this, you know what? I’ll carry my luggages by myself, i dont nee-d you to help me again!”
Xavier and i both laughed as Jordan struggled with the two luggages.
After some minutes, Jordan sighed and turned to look at us. “Help me? plea-se!”
“Why?” Xavier asked mockingly.
“Because these luggages are damn heavy!” Jordan exclaimed.
“Well you were the one who decided to add clothes and lots of beach supplies in your bags, so i wont help you.”
“Oh come on Xavier.” Jordan whined. “Brielle, plea-se tell Xavier to help me with these luggages.”
“Xavier help the kid with his luggages.” I deadpanned, trying to muster up a dead in the eye staring contest with him.
Xavier held my eyes for a few seconds before sighing and walking over to Jordan.
“I’ll carry your stupid luggages.” He grumbled. Jordan giggled like a girl but st©pped when Xavier sh0t him a murderous glare.
“I wonder what crawled up in his p@n-ts.” I heard Jordan mutter quietly.
~*~*~
“Guys plea-se slow down.” I rasped out, holding my knees while p@n-ting.
“Hurry up Brielle!” Johnny yelled out enthusiastically, he was like six feet away from me.
“Or else the queue will be filled up!” Johnny best friend, Joshua, yelled. Him and Johnny were both holding hands while running.
“Oh God, these two are a handful.” I muttered, struggling to run and catch up with the two little kids.
After Xavier helped Jordan with his luggages, we all hanged out for a while with Damon, Ava and Alex. But right after that, Johnny was throwing a tantrum about wanting to go to the carnival. Emily kinda pleaded with us to take him to the carnival because she is having some business p@rtners over to have dinner. Johnny was really happy about it and wanted his best friend, Joshua, to also come. Damon drove us to Joshua house before we went to the carnival.
Joshua was almost like Johnny but he is a little shy about meeting new people. He later warmed up to me and Ava. Joshua is a cute black american boy with light brown soft curly hair and he has the most beautiful pair of honey coloured eyes that makes him ten time more adorable. I learnt that him and Johnny have been best friends since Johnny was three. Johnny is one year older than Joshua and he is really protective of him.
Jordan told us that when some little kids tried to bully Joshua because he is black, Johnny fought them off. He did get a two days suspension along with the bullies, but he told Emily that he wil deal with anyone who hurts his best friend.
We argued about who was going to stay with the two children and i brou-ght up spin the bottle. So Me, Xavier, Damon, Alex, Ava and Jordan all circled each other. Then, i spined the stupid bottle and it landed on me!
So right now, the others are probably having fun while am stuck with two enthusiastic kids. I also cant believe that Xavier ditched me for the chocolate fountain. He is so obsessed with chocolate.
The three of us were in time before the queue gets long and we all mounted in the water splash ride. I now get why these two are so happy about this ride, like seriously its so fun!
“Do you two want to go in for another round?” I asked the Johnny and Joshua.
“Yes Brielle! Yes!” The two squealed, hvgging my leg.
“Okay.” I laughed and held their hands, walking back to the line.
After going on two more rounds on the water splash, i took the kids to an ice cream cart.
“I’ll have two scoops of nutella ice cream with chocolate sprinkles on t©p!” Johnny said to the ice cream boy who gave a small smile before nodding.
“And Joshua will have two scoops of oreo ice cream with sprinkles on t©p!”
“Is that what you like Joshua.” I asked, with raised eyebrows.
Joshua nodded eagerly. “Yes! Oreos are my best ice cream flavour.”
I chuckled. “Okay, kid.” Turning to the ice cream boy, i ordered for a big tube of vanilla ice cream. As he handed out Johnny and Joshua ice cream to them, i paid for all the ice cream before turning to face the kids, who stared at me strangely.
“Are you sure you can finish that?” Johnny asked, his brows furrowed ti-ghtly together.
“Yep.”
“Bit my Mummy told me that eating too much of ice cream will give you an upset tummy.” Joshua said innocently.
“Dont worry boys.” I sh0t them a wi-nk. “I can handle this.”
“If you say so.” Johnny shrugged his shoulders and li-cked his ice cream.
“There they are!” I heard a voice yell out.
I looked over to the side and saw the others. Ava and Damon were walking hand in hand, while Alex, Xavier and Jordan were sauntering over to me and the two kids.
“Xavier!”
“Jordan!” Both Johnny and Joshua ran towards the two and hvgged them, being careful not to pour their ice cream.
“Hey.” Xavier said, prying Johnny off him and smiling at me. I ignored him and took a spoonful of ice cream.
“Are you really gonna finish that?” Ava asked, her eyes wi-dening.
“Yep.”
“That’s not really healthy.” Alex muttered.
“Says the boy who eats six packets of oreos a day.” I said sarcastically.
“Oreos are add!çting.” Alex defended.
I just rolled my eyes.
“Let’s get going guys.” Damon glanced down at his watch before looking up at the sky. “Its a little late.”
“And it looks like its going to rain.” Xavier added.
“Yay, that means we can pl@yin the rain.” Johnny finished of the last chocolate on his cone before eating it.
“No you wont, Johnny.” Xavier said firmly. “pla-ying in the rain can make you fall sick.”
“No it wont.” Johnny retorted back stubbornly, crossing his arms. “I will pl@yin the rain if i want to.”
“Excuse me?” Xavier arched an eyebrow at him. “Did you just talk back?” Johnny didn’t say anything and just continued glaring into space, his arms crossed.
“Look at me when am talking to you Johnny Nathaniel Hill.”
“Ooh, he pu-ll-ed the middle name card.” Jordan whispered to me.
“Is he really strict with children?” Jordan asked.
“I honestly dont know.” I whispered back, scrutinizing Johnny who still stood his ground, refusing to look at Xavier, who i could tell was one minute away from lashing out.
“Um Damon.” I whispered, since him and Jordan were the closest to me. “Is Xavier a strict cousin?”
Damon snorted. “He is one year older than me yet he is always stern. How do you think he will be with a seven year old?”
“Um, Xavier is getting angry, Johnny.” Joshua told Johnny nervously.
“Really?” Johnny whispered, not so quietly.
Joshua nodded. “Yes he is.”
Johnnyl-ips curled up into a sm-irk, a mischievous glint in his eyes. He leaned forward to Joshua ear and whispered something to him that made the latter sm-irk.
“What do you think he told him?” Ava asked.
“They’re going to try to get Xavier really pissed.” Alex answered, staring boredly at the now two giggling children.
“So this has happened before?” I asked and Alex nodded.
“Yep, just watch.”
“I’m going to pl@yin the rain and there is nothing you can do about it.” Johnny retorted, still staring into space.
“Johnny.” Xavier warned.
“I agree with Johnny.” Joshua chimed in. “I also want to pl@yin the rain.”
Xavier let out an exasperated sigh. “Joshua, i know that Johnny is your best friend but that doesn’t mean you should always back him up in his ignoramus decision.”
“I dont care.” Joshua countered. “I’m pla-ying in the rain with Johnny.”
“Yes!” Johnny finally turned to look at Xavier. “We want to pl@yin the rain.”
“No.” Xavier tone was stern and firm. “You both will not pl@yin the rain and my decision is final.”
“You’re not the boss of me.” Joshua said stubbornly.
“Yeah.” Johnny backed up his best friend.
Xavier eyes narrowed in on Joshua. “No, but i am older than you so watch your tone kid.”
“as-s-hole.” Both Johnny and Joshua suddenly yelled out.
“What did you two just call me?” Xavier growled.
The two stuck their ton-gue out at him. “Come and get us loser.” Before Xavier could respond, they ran off.
Xavier let out colourful words and stormed after them, later returning with the two kids thrown over his shoulder.
“My bo-ttomhurts.” I heard Johnny whine. “Why did you sp@ñk me?”
“You cursed and you were disrespectful.” Xavier said bluntly.
“We were just trying to have fun with you.” Joshua said. “By getting you mad.”
Xavier sm-irked. “And did you have fun?”
“No, my bo-ttomhad to pay the price.” Joshua mumbled.
“That was a nice show guys.” Joshua said, yawning and stretching his arms. “But we should get going, am alre-ady tired and droplets of rain is getting on my hair.”
“Yay rain!” Johnny and Joshua said enthusiastically.
“Lets go guys.” Xavier set the boys down. “Its alre-ady late, Joshua i’ll call your mum and tell her you’ll be staying with us for the night.”
“That means Johnny and i can have a sleepover?” Joshua asked innocently, his brown eyes glimmering up at Xavier.
Xavier smiled and stretched his hand down to stro-ke his hair. “Yes, baby.”
“I’m not a baby.” Joshua crossed his arms. “I’m six.”
“And that means you’re still a baby.” Damon gr@bb£d Joshua from behind ma-king the latter squeal.
“Damon is right, Joshua.” Johnny said, with a larg grin plastered on his face. “Since you’re six, you’re still a baby. I’m seven so am not a baby anymore.”
“No fair.” Joshua pouted. Everyone went ‘aw’ at his cuteness and his cheeks reddened.
“Guys, hate to ruin the moments but the sky is really cloudy and dark.” Alex said, his eyes fli-ckering between Joshua and Johnny. “If the raindrops increase, its going to be ha-rd convincing these two to get inside.”
“Alright everyone.” Xavier announced. “In the jeep. Now.”
I picked up Johnny and walked down to the parking lot before opening the jeep and setting him inside. Damon was on the driver’s seat and Ava sat on the pas-s£nger seat. Alex, Jordan, Johnny and Joshua on the second back seat while me and Xavier were settled on the third seat.
“Princess why are you ignoring me?” Xavier shuffled closer to me, his voice soft. “Did i do something that made you mad? If so, forgive me.”
“You ditched me for a chocolate fountain.” I said, with a small huff.
“Is that why you’re mad at me?” Even though i cant see my b©yfri£ndfacial expression, i do know that he has a c0cky sm-irk plastered on hisl-ips.
“Yes.” I kept my tone blunt.
“I didn’t really ditch you for a chocolate fountain Brielle, i pla-yed a game to win us something.”
Curious, i turned my head to him and stared. “What is it?”
Xavier brou-ght out two small papers from his shi-t pocket. “Two tickets to Shawn Mendes live show tomorrow night.”
“Oh my gosh!” I squealed. “Really?!”
Xavier winced and so did Alex and Damon. “Sorry.” I apologized. “I mean, really?”
“Yep.” Xavier said, smiling. “So, are you still mad at me.”
“No.” I threw myself on him. “I now love you more than i love Shawn Mendes.”
Xavier chuckled. “I really dont know if i should be jealous or amused.”
“Just kidding, you’re always number one in my heart.”
“You too princess.” Xavier pu-ll-ed back from the hvg and k!$$£d me softly before pu-lling away and smiling down at me.
“So.” He glanced at something beside me. “Are you really going to finish that?”
Confused, i turned my head to the side and looked down. My tube of ice cream that i bought was right there. I cant believe i forgot about it.
“Um.” I let drops of the ice cream pour in the container. “Its melted.”
“Good thing i have two straws with me.” Xavier handed me one blue straw and i di-pped it in the tube.
~*~*~
Damon pu-ll-ed over in the garage and turned off the car. When we all got down, i was surprised to see a black expensive car parked beside the fountain.
Xavier held my hand and we walked to the porch. He opened the door and we all stepped inside. Emily was seated on the couch, talking with two people.
“Mummy!”
“Aunt Emily!” Joshua and Johnny ran and launched their selves in her arms.
“Did you two have fun?” She asked, smiling softly.
“Yes!” They responded simultaneously.
“Hey Aunt Emily.” Xavier greeted.
“Hi.” She turned to the man and woman, whose face i still couldn’t identify. “These are my nephews and their girl friends, and this little kid is my son.”
“Such a cutie.” I heard the woman say in a soft melodious voice. Emily got up and the man and the woman followed suit, turning around to face us. The woman was really beautiful, she has dark brown hair and green eyes and i couldn’t help but stare at them in awe.
When i turned to stare up at the tall man, my breath bit-ched. Staring down at me with curiosity were a pair of blue eyes but not just any blue eyes.
They were similar to mine.
It was like staring at a carbon copy of me, only this time older and in a male version.
The man eyes wi-de-ned and it suddenly bec@m£ glas-sy. The two words that c@m£ out of his mouth made me and everyone in the room shocked.
🌼A Wish🌼
Chapter 32
‘My Bambina?’
I opened my mouth to say something, but no words c@m£ out. All i could do was stare up at the man.
His eyes were soft and glas-sy. I took a side-glance at the woman, to see her face had a mixture of confusion and shock.
“W-who a-are you?” The words escaped myl-ips as i continue to stare at him.
“Brielle, i really cant believe its you, my Brielle.” The man breathed out, his eyes brimming with tears.
“Tell me who you are?” I demanded, my voice etched with frustration.
“I’m your father, bambina.”
Silence.
It was ha-rd to focus on the man as i tried to process what he just said. Father? My father?
I couldn’t excogitate the words i wanted to say that very moment, they were all jumbled up in my head.
A hand suddenly grip my shoulder and i was alre-ady aware that it was Xavier, cause he wears the familiar cologne that i always love to inhale and that gives me a glimpse of reas-surance when am with him.
Even without taking a peek at Xavier, i knew he was shocked.
“What the hell are you talking about?” I heard Xavier demand in an aggressive tone. “You cant just come here and start saying lies, so shut the fv¢k up!”
Normally, i would reprimand Xavier when he talk to an elderly with no respect, but now i was too appalled to even say anything.
“I’m saying the truth.” The man, who claims himself as my father, said, in the same tone Xavier used. “Brielle is my daughter.”
“No.” I whispered, causing everyone attention to turn to me. “No, no, no. You cant be my father.”
The man shook his head, a sad smile across his face. “plea-se believe me, bambina.”
“Shut up!” I yelled out, gripping my hair in frustration. “I dont have a dad, you’re not my dad!” Even if i shout that he is not my dad a thousand times, i know de-ep down that he’s really my dad.
“Brielle.” I turned my attention to the woman beside him.
“What?” I laughed bitterly. “You want to tell me that you’re my mum too?”
The lady shook her head. “No Brielle, am not your mum but plea-se believe your father, he’s telling the truth. He really is your father.”
Her words kept on repeating over and over again in my head. My father? My Dad?
No, no, no, no! Its not possible! It cant be. My father? Where was he when i was being abused? Did he throw me in foster care? Did he saw me as a mistake.
“Baby, plea-se look at me.” Xavier soft voice brou-ght me back to reality but this time around it didn’t do anything to reas-sure me.
My heart beat quic-kened and my che-st felt heavy. Tears brimming my eyes, i looked around the room and i felt like it was closing in on me.
The mistake i made was taking one look at my so called father cause different emotions hit me. I couldn’t stand being in the same room with him so i ran. I ran outside the heavy down pouring rain, ignoring the calls for me to st©p.
Never in my life did i thought i could run so fast. One thing i didn’t really like doing was running but now it felt so good. Water clung to my shi-t and p@n-ts but i didn’t care, i kept on running, with no single idea of where am headed to.
I let out a painful yelp when i sli-pped on a muddy path which s£nt me falling ha-rd on the ground. I scR@p£d my expo-sed ankle on a stone. The blood oozing out of it was not my bother, instead i was thinking about what just happened.
Nine years of my childhood, i was abused. Physically and verbally. Where was my dad when all this happened. Was he actually enjoying his luxurious life? Did he made any attempt to search for me? And who was the woman beside him?
Sure, she is beautiful but she doesn’t looks like me in any way, unlike my dad who actually is a carbon copy of me. So now, where is my mum?
The unanswered questions that all jumbled in my head caused me to re-lease a heavy sob.
I cant believe my real father just showed up out of the blue. Why now? Why couldn’t it be next year or next two years?
With shaky hands, i pu-ll-ed my knees up to my che-st and cried. The knots in my stomach ti-ghtned and there was a burning pain in my che-st as i pressed one of my hand down to the we-t gras-s. I tried to g@sp for air bit my attempts were futile.
“Brielle!” I heard a strangled and relieved voice yell out.
“Baby its me.” Someone dropped down beside me and gr!pp£dmy shoulders, forcing me to face the worried and concerned face of my b©yfri£nd.
“X-xavier i-i-i c-cant b-breathe.”
“Brielle, ssh, calm down.” Xavier voice was soft but i could still s-en-se a bit of panic etched to it. “Count 1-5 with me Brielle.”
“I, 2, 3, 4, 5.” While Xavier counted the numbers out loud, i counted them in my mind and i could slowly see myself breathing normally.
“plea-se dont ever scare me like that, princess.” I was engulfed in strong arms.
“I’m sorry.” I melted into Xavier’s arms, not wanting him to ever let go.
“You have nothing to apologize for, Brielle.” Xavier as-sured me, pu-lling back from the hvg and holding both my cheeks in his hands. “You only reacted that way out of shock.”
I sniffed, tears streaming down my cheeks.
Xavier thumbs wiped my tears clean, though drops of rain were still falling on the both of us.
“C’mon, you’re freezing.” Xavier mumbled, taking off his jacket and wra-pping it around me.
“Y-you’ll be cold too if you dont keep the jacket on.” I stuttered out, feeling my b©dy tremble from the freezing cold.
“I’m more concerned about you, Brielle.” Xavier said, brushing strands of we-t hair from my eyes. “plea-se dont fight me on this one.”
His eyes fli-ckered down to my ankle. “How did you hurt yourself?”
“I fell down from a muddy gras-s.”
Xavier applied pressure to my ankle causing me to wince. “Its bruised and a bit sprained, but i’ll treat it for you once we get home.”
Xavier got up and held his hand out. Holding ti-ghtly onto his hand, i managed to get up. Xavier gently scooped me up in his arms and walked to the mansion.
When we entered, i saw that Emily, Ava, Damon, Jordan and Alex were all in the living room, including my dad and the lady who i now guess is his wife. Damon was pacing the living room, with Ava trying to calm him down. Jordan looked a little lost and confused. Alex was calmly standing beside Emily, but i did see him shoot a muderous glare at my dad.
I hid my face in Xavier che-st when all the attention was snapped towards me and Xavier. I heard rushing feets hurry our way and i tried to pu-ll out a fake-sleep act but considering the fact that my b©dy is shivering from cold, its going to be ha-rd to fool them.
“Brielle.” Jordan voice was soft.
“Is she alright?” No bestie, i just decided to go pl@yin the rain cause i thought it will be fun.
“Why is she so stiff?” Because am a statue, Damon.
“She’s shivering guys and there is a bruise on her ankle, so clearly she isn’t alright.” Alex said, his tone sounded relieved and happy but i coukd also tell that he’s really worried about me.
“Ava plea-se come with me to the room and bring a first aid kit with you.” I heard Xavier tell Ava.
“plea-se let me see her.” A voice pleads desperately and i recognized the voice as that of my dad.
“Cant you see she’s shivering? So get the hell out of here.” Damon voice is ha-rd and firm.
“With all due respect.” Emily started. “I think it high time the two of you both leave.”
My Dad sighed and held his wife hand, walking towards the front door, but not before turning to Xavier. “I’ll be here tomorriw, to speak with my daughter.”
The stomping of feet and clattering of heels signaled that they were both gone.
~*~*~
Xavier gave my ankle a good mas-saging and cleaned the bruise. He prepared a h0t bath for me inside the bathtub and gently set me inside, with my clothes on.
Xavier sat down on a stool and stro-ked my hair. “Your hair is a bit dampy, can i wash it for you?”
Staring down at my leggings, i just nodded.
The cool feeling of Xavier hands gently ru-bing my hair causes me to instantly feel relaxed.
Xavier finished washing my hair and went inside the room.
He returned with my towel and leaned to to plant a soft k!sson the crown of my head, before turning to walk out of the bathroom.
I managed to clean my b©dy up, ignoring the terrible ache in my stomach. I took off my previous we-t clothes and poured water all over myself one last time, before stepping outside.
I changed into my pajamas and sat down on the be-d, staring at the window blankly. A soft sigh escaped myl-ips when my mind drifted to my father and his wife. I cant let his pres-en-se affect me this much. I wonder where my mum is. Are my Mum and Dad both divorced? Does she has another family that she loves and will want nothing to do with me?
I gro-an ed at the throbbing pain in my head and rested it on a pillow. The door opened and closed, someone ma-king ma-king his way towards me.
“Brielle.” Xavier called softly, his hand ru-bbing circles on my shoulder. “Ava made dinner, come eat.”
“I’m not hungry.” I muttered into the pillow.
I heard Xavier sigh. “plea-se dont be like that princess, ice cream was the last thing you ate today and its not really healthy.”
I withdrew my face from the pillow and t©uçhed my forehead. “I really dont want to eat anything, Xavier, my head has a terrible ache.”
Xavier hands moved up to stro-ke my hair. “You nee-d to st©p overthinking and worrying, that’s mainly the cause of your headaches.”
I smiled. “I’ll try and not overthink or worry again.”
“But you still nee-d to eat.” Xavier pointed out.
“Do i really have to?” I asked childishly. “Like i said, am not hungry.”
“I wont hesitate to carry you there myself, Brielle.” Xavier tone indicates that he’s not joking.
“Fine.” Xavier got up and held his hand out to me. I took it and sli-pped my feet in my sli-ppers, walking fast to catch up with Xavier.
We went downstairs to the dining room and eveyone was seated there. I offered a small smile to everyone and that caused their facial expression to immediately cloud in relief. We all ate in silence, all that could be heard was our clattering of forks, spoons and knives. Only Johnny and Joshua were the only one’s talking freely to each other, not aware if the tension in the room.
“Brielle.” Emily called softly and carefully, scrutinizing my move with her eyes. “Are you okay?”
It was a simple question, yet it was enough for many thoughts to fog my mind. Am i okay? I just found out that i have a dad who i havent seen for more than nine years. I found out that my father is apparently italian, which means am also italian. The thought of my Dad abandoning me when i was so little was enough to make me feel like am worthless.
“No.” I whispered. “I’m not okay.”
~*~*~
“Are you sure you can talk to him alone?” Xavier asked, his eyes doing a double-take around the room.
“Yes, if i feel uncomfortable with him, I will call you.” I squee-zed his hand, trying to as-sure him that i’ll be fine.
“Okay, princess.” Xavier leaned in to k!ssme. “If you say so.”
“Where is he?” I looked around. “He said he’ll meet us here at exactly 10:00 am.”
“Speak of the devil and he shows up.” I heard Xavier mutter.
My Dad casually walked inside the cafe. I could tell he is popular because of the g@sps that c@m£ from people as they stared at my Dad in awe. Hi ohene ome on+233544142683 to re-ad more stories from our various platform such as unlimited story platform sweet and nice story room, fresh stories Kingdom. could even see some middle aged woman flashing him flir-ty wi-nks.
The sight made me internally gag.
He just ignored them and looked around the room till he sp©tted me and Xavier. He looks different than before, yesterday he was wearing a suit but now, he had on a simple blue bu-tton up shi-t and black jean with a pair of white converse. His hair was gelled to the back.
With a smile spre-ad across his face,he strode over to the table. Xavier acknowledged him with a stiff nod and my Dad returned the gesture. Xavier k!$$£d my forehead and gave my Dad one last glare before walking out of the cafe.
“Um, hi.” I inwardly cringed at how my voice sounded so squeaky.
“Hello, bambina.” My Dad flashed me a genuine smile.
“So, um you’re my Dad.” I said, shifting on my seat in an awkward manner.
“Yes, i mean look at us.” Dad gestured to his face. “Dont we look alike?”
I laughed. “Yes we do.”
It was quite for some seconds and broke it by calling the waiter and ordering for one mocha. When i asked my Dad what he would like, he said he loves drinking mocha coffee too, so i ordered it for the both of us.
“How old are you?” Dad asked, taking a sip out of his coffee.
“Seventeen.”
He nodded but i didn’t miss the sad expression that clouded his face before he quic-kly masked it up.
“What about my mum?” I blurted out without thinking.
Dad face instantly morphed into sadness. “She’s dead, she died while giving birth to you.”
“Dead?” I choked out, b!tt!g my l!pto hold in the sob that threatned to escape my mouth.
“I’m sorry for telling you this, Brielle.” Dad mumbles colourful words. “I shouldn’t have been so blunt with it.”
“No.” I cut in. “You weren’t being blunt and am thankful that you told me the truth instead of lying to me like some other parents usually do. I just wish, i had met her.”
“How was she like? You know, Mum?”
Dad smiled. “She was my first love. She’s humble, sas-sy, smart, intelligent, confident. Your mother was an amazing woman. When you were still in her stomach, she would sing songs to you. And she always tells you how much she loves you. She loves pla-ying the acoustic guiter whike she sings. When she was on her death be-d, she made me promise to always take care of you and for me to not give up on loving again.”
Dad let out a shaky breath. “I’m sorry Brielle, i broke that promise. I was suppose to care for you, love you and always protect you but you got kidnapped and taken away from me.”
I got kidnapped? Could this mean that Liam kidnapped me when i was still very young?
“How was i kidnapped?”
Dad stares at me in confusion. “You dont remember?”
I shook my head. “No, i seriously dont remember. How on earth do you expect me to remember how my life was when i was just two?”
“You were four Brielle.”
I slumped against my chair. “Then why cant i remember? Why didn’t i have a single glimspe of memory when i saw you?”
Dad shook his head and sighed. “Each time i look at you, my mind drifts off to that dre-adful night.”
“A h0tel where i lodged in with you.” Dad continues. “It caught fire, the fire was everywhere but all i could think about that moment was you. You were crying so ha-rd , Brielle, and you shouted my name, you yelled for help. I managed to pas-s throu-gh smokes and burning woods just to get to you but a heavy wood fell on me, mostly hitting my head. The last thing i saw before i blacked out was you being dragged away by someone.”
