LA

Restaurant**

“Ba…babe.” Felix pushed Layla aside and stood up. “It’s not what it looks like…”

“Of course, that’s the line of every Fu-cking cheater!” Diamond yelled, grabbing the attentions of other customers including the waiters.

“Babe, let’s go outside and discuss.” Felix reached out to hold her but she quickly pulled away.

“Don’t you dare touch me, you cheating bastard.” She snapped. “How could you? How could you stoop so low into Fu-cking your own best friend, huh?”

“Listen to me,,,I promise it’s not what it looks like.”

“Alright. Let’s say I’m wrong.” Diamond cleared her throat and then looked around. “Where are the boys?”

“Wha…what boys?”

She scrolled throu-ghher phone and tapped on the text message then showed it to him.

“You said you were with the boys. Where are they?”

Felix gulped nervously, scratching the back of his ne-ck. His face has gone pale and his li-ps were trembling.

“I…You… it’s not what you think.”

“Argh!” Diamond groa-ned loudly, getting frustrated with hearing just that one line. “What do think I’m thinking, Felix? Because I haven’t said anything since I got here other than asking for the boys. So tell me, is your conscience already judging you?”

Felix lowered his head.

Diamond gaze shifted to Layla who was busy drinking of a glas-sof champagne, acting like none of what’s happening matters to her.

“And you,” Layla looked up. “are you going to just sit there and say nothing?”

“Say what exactly, huh? Please leave me out of this sh*t, okay?”

“Oh, really?” Diamond chuckled bitterly, running her fingers throu-ghher hair. “You are not going to deny it.”

“Deny what?” Layla rose to her feet. “Of Fu-cking your boyfriend? Is that it?”

“Layla.” Felix called throu-ghgritted teeth, glaring ha-rd at her.

“What?”

“Stop talking if you have nothing reasonable to say.”

“I have a lot of reasonable things to say, Felix. Isn’t it time for you to tell her the Fu-cking truth, huh? Let her know already.”

Diamond furrowed her brows, confused. “Know what?”

“Don’t listen to he_”

“He doesn’t love you, bi-tch .” Layla cut Felix off.

Diamond shoulder dropped as her eyes wide-ned in shock. She darted her gaze in between Felix and Layla.

“LAYLA!” Felix exclaimed.

“She needs to know the truth, okay? I’m tired of keeping this relationship hidden. I’m tired of loving you in secret. I can’t keep doing this.” Layla said.

“Wow.” Diamond choked out.

“Babe,” Felix tried reaching out to Diamond again.

“Don’t you dare touch me.” She warned and he immediately put his hand away.

“Please don’t listen to her. Layla is just my best friend,,,you are the one that matters more to me. I know you caught us in a weird position but,”

“Weird position?” Diamond repeated. “I caught you two ki-ssing!”

“I know but there’s nothing special about the ki-ss, believe me.”

“Stop deceiving her, Felix.” Layla scoffed. “Because you told me just last night that having se-x with me feels more special and amazing than with her.”

“Layla, stop talking.”

Diamond didn’t even know when the tears she has been holding in broke down.

All eyes were on them and she felt so embarra-ssed. She wasn’t the one caught cheating and yet she feels so…ashamed.

“Diamond, don’t listen to her.” Felix said.

“Wow. I…i can’t believe this is happening to me of all days. Is she really your best friend?”

“Yes. I swear. We are just best friends.”

“We fell in love, Diamond. We were best friends who fell for each other like in every novel. You are a writer, you should know how this things work.”

“How long?” Diamond asked.

“What?” Felix raised a questioning brows, feigning confusion.

“I said, how long? How long have you two been Fu-cking? How long have you been looking at me in the eyes and lie? How long have I been sharing you with another girl? How long? Answer me.”

Felix gulped nervously.

Layla folded her arms over her ch-est, rolling her eyes every now and then.

It was silent.

“Two years.”

“Layla.”

“What? She asked a question and I answered. Did I do anything wrong there?”

Diamond almost fell but someone caught her from behind. It was one of the guys she met not quite long ago and even drank one of their glas-sof water.

“Are you okay?” He asked.

“Hmm. Thank you.” She set herself free from his hold and straightened herself, sniffling. “Is this the reason?”

“What are you_”

She cut Felix off. “Is this the reason why you always have se-x with me for only twenty minutes? Is it because you have someone else tending to your se-xual needs? Do you even love me?”

“He doesn’t.” Layla answered.

Diamond shot her a ha-rd glare. “I wasn’t talking to you, idiot.”

“Whatever.” Layla waves her off, looking away.

Felix sighed. “I do. I love you so much, Diamond. And I’m sorry for_”

“You cheated on me for two good years and you claim to love me?” Diamond laughed bitterly, shaking her head. “That’s no love, Felix. Love is when you stick to a person regardless of their flaws. You never satisfied me in bed but yet I stood by you. I didn’t judge you or go out there to look for a random guy to Fu-ck me. I stayed loyal with you and this is what I get from you?”

“Wait, I never satisfied you in bed?”

“You didn’t know because I never told you. I didn’t want to embarras-syou or make you feel insulted or look down upon. You have a small di-ck, Felix.”

Small laughs flew past them in the restaurant as whispers filled the air. Some girls were shameless enough to stare down at Felix’s trouser.

Felix looked so embarra-ssed. “What are you saying?”

“You know, every guy’s pride lies in their di-ck. I managed the little you have because I don’t want to destroy your pride or make you feel bad about yourself. And most because I love you.” She paused. “But I’m so disappointed and I feel so disgusted because I can’t believe I’m sharing your small di-ck with your damn best friend.”

“Diamond, stop saying that out here.” Felix said.

“Why? Are you ashamed?” She huffed. “So you are ashamed of hearing the truth about your small di-ck but you are not ashamed of making out with your best friend publicly and being caught cheating, huh?”

“I said it’s not what it looks_” Diamond slapped him very ha-rd on the face.

“Don’t you dare repeat that same line to me, you lying cheat.” She aggressively wiped off the tears that trailed down her face. “I hate you with every ounce and fibre in my body. I hate you so much. I sacrificed my happiness and se-xual needs because of you. I thought love should be based on one’s feelings and not about se-x or material things.” She shook her head. “I was so wrong. I regret ever loving you. I regret ever wasting my precious seven years with a jerk like you! I regret everything that involves you. Shame on you.”

“Diamond_”

“Call my name one last time and I will shred you into a million pieces, try me.” She eyed Layla from head to toe who was now embarra-ssed. “You can have him. lic-k off from my vomit, Layla. I don’t care.” She turned to leave but stopped. “And one more thing,” She strolled to Layla and gave her a dirty slap. Layla gasped in shock and fell back on the chair. “That’s for calling me a bi-tch , you lowlife bi-tch .” She spat coldly. “Everyone,” Diamond walked to the center of the restaurant. “You see that guy standing over there?” She pointed at Felix. “He is a lying bastard and a big cheat with a small di-ck and the girl over there,” She pointed at Layla. “That’s his new girlfriend. They were meant to be best friends but turned out to be lovers. Isn’t that shocking? You can congratulate them if you think their love will last forever because honestly,” Her gaze were fixed on Layla. “When you steal from someone, just know someone else will steal from you. What you do to others, will always come back for you.” She stormed out of the restaurant afterwards.

As soon as Diamond shut the door, hot tears rolled down her face.

She loved Felix so much. She really did. She knows what she did in there wasn’t necessary but the anger, the pain, the betray left her heart wounded and her sense of reasoning flew out of the window.

She stood on the side of the road, waiting for a cab or a bus to come and take her away from here.

“Here,” A voice interrupted her.

She sniffled, wiping off her tears and then turned to look at the person.

It was the guy who caught her from falling earlier in the restaurant and also the same guy who let her drank his water. His second was waiting for him, leaning on a black benz away from where they stood.

She looked down at his hand and saw him holding out a bottle of water.

“That doesn’t belong to me.” She whispered.

“I know but you should have it. I bought it for you.” He said.

“Thank you.” She collected the bottle of water but didn’t care to open it. She hailed a cab and it stopped in front of them. “I should be on my way now.”

“I wanted to offer you a ride.” The guy said.

“Well, it’s too late now.”

“Can I at least get your number, if you don’t mind?” Diamond gave him a weird and judging look. “I just want to be a friend…nothing more.”

“Hmm.” She hummed. “Your phone?”

He gave her his phone and she put down her number then gave it back to him.

“Diamond, right?”

“How…?”

“The jerk mentioned your name a lot in there. I’m sure everyone knows your name now.” He joked.

“Ah.” Diamond for-ced a smiled to her face. “I see.”

“I’m Amir, by the way.”

“Okay Amir. I really need to get going.” She opened the cab door.

“Okay.” He waved.

She entered and the cab drove away.

ITALY

OSPEDALE DEL SOLE (SUNSHINE HOSPITAL)**

“Where is she?” He asked the nurse at the front desk. “dove cazzo è mia moglie!?” (Where the fuc-kis my wife?)

“per favore calmati.” (Please calm down) The nurse pleaded.

“Don’t fu-cking tell me to calm down! Where is she?”

“Nurse Rosie,” The nurse called out to one other nurse. “Please attend to them.”

Nurse Rosie stepped forward. “Good_”

“Where is my wife?” He cut her off.

“The pregnant woman who was rushed down here few minutes ago?” She asked.

“Yes. Diamond Ca-ssano.” He answered.

“Come with me.” She led them to the ward where the doctors were attending to Diamond. “Wait here, the doctor will be out soon.” She left afterwards.

Mikhail paced about the hallway, praying silently for the intervention of God in his wife’s situation.

He can’t lose her.

He will die if anything happens to her.

Marcello tried to calm him down but his words fell into deaf ears so he decided to quit and wait patiently for the doctor.

Finally the doctor walked out of the ward, taking off his gloves with an expressionless look on his face.

He stared at Mikhail.

“Are you the husband of Mrs Diamond Ca-ssano?” He asked.

Mikhail quickly nodded. “Yes. How is she?”

He sighed. “She…She was shot in the ch-est. Close to her heart.”

“What?” The world seem to have stopped moving as soon as the doctor said those words.

“Twice.” The doctor added. “We have to operate on her as soon as possible to take out the bullet but,” He gave Mikhail a sad look. “We can’t guarantee that both mother and child will survive.”

“What do you mean?” Mikhail questioned.

“You will have to make a choice, sir. We will do everything possible to save both but there is no a-ssurance of the two surviving it.”

Hot tears trailed down Mikhail’s face. His heart stopped beating for a slight second.

He can’t lose his wife and neither does he want to lose their child.

He remembered the promise he made to her…

~FLASHBACK~

“Can you promise me something?”

“Anything for you.”

“If anything ever happens to me…”

“Wait, what?” He tensed up.

“Shhh, listen to what I have to say first.” She said pleadingly.

“Okay?” He slowly relaxed.

“If anything ever happens to me during labor…please,” She looked up at him. “save our child.”

~FLASHBACK ENDS~

He also remembered her last words…

|“Mi…Mik…Mikhail” Her husky voice rung in his ear. “Sa…save o… our…baby.”|

He clenched his fist tightly as he said the words.

“Save the baby.”

EVENING

LA

Bff’s Apartment**

“Phew. I feel so exhausted.” Zara said, dropping her back on the couch.

Ayden walked out of the kitchen.

“You are back from work.”

“Yeah…”

“How was you day?”

“Exhausting.” She yawned. “Please tell me you made dinner.”

“As your personal chef or what?” Ayden rolled his eyes.

“You didn’t?”

“Unfortunately, I did.” He dropped on the couch. “And that’s only because of Diamond.”

“And what about me?”

“You ate this morning but she didn’t, remember?”

“Wait, she’s not yet back from the meeting?”

“Nope. I wonder why.”

“Did Donna ask her to finish the story at her office or what?”

“Nah, she won’t do that. Though I sent Diamond a text message but there was no reply.”

“Me too.” Zara frowned. “Do you think she’s fine?”

“I’m sure_” Ayden was interrupted by the sound of the door.

Diamond stormed inside and then slammed the door shut very hard.

“Ah, there she is.” Zara heaved out a de-ep breath of relief. “Diamond_”

Diamond ignored them completely as she rushed upstairs and disappeared into her room.

Ayden and Zara exchanged glances.

“What just happened?” Zara mumbled.

“Something doesn’t feel right.” Ayden muttered. “Let’s go check on her.”

“You are right.”

They went upstairs.

Diamond’s Bedroom**

“Diamond?” Ayden knocked on the door, calling out to her.

She ignored them, crying her eyes out in the bathroom.

The shower was left running so they didn’t hear her sobs.

Diamond cried while clenching her ch-est as she could feel it breaking into billion pieces.

She loved this guy with her life. She trusted him and supported him with whatever he does or want. She sacrificed her se-xual life and desires just to be with him. How could he have betray her life this? How could he have been dating his own ‘suppose’ best friend for two good Fu-cking years?

Was she stupid not to have seen the chemistry between them or was she just ignorant?

Seven years. She has been with him for that long and this is how it ended. She wasted her life for a jerk like Felix and she regret everything.

“Let’s just give her space, don’t you think?” Ayden asked.

“I think so. I’m sure she will talk to us when she’s ready.”

“Yeah.”

They both walked away from the door.

ITALY

TWO DAYS LATER

OSPEDALE DEL SOLE (SUNSHINE HOSPITAL)**

She was looking so pale and weak.

Different wires were connected to her beautiful body.

She couldn’t breath without the use of the oxygen mask.

Mikhail couldn’t take his eyes off his angel who haven’t opened her eyes since the operation.

He saved their baby which was the best decision he had to make. For his dear wife. For himself. For Aurora.

Most people will think he’s the sick one because of how unkempt he looks.

He hasn’t left the hospital since the operation neither have he stopped crying.

He should never have let her go to the hospital by herself.

He should have been there to protect her.

What was he fu-cking thinking when he stupidly let her go to the hospital all by herself?

He blames himself for this. For everything.

He hasn’t stopped searching. Looking for the sick bastard who had the nerves to do this to his Amore and he won’t stop searching until he find them and make them pay even if it means breaking the promise he made to Diamond.

“Per favore svegliati. non fermi questo. Per favore apri gli occhi.” (please wake up. Don’t do this to me. Please open your eyes). He sobbed, holding her small hands in his large ones.
