Chapter 167&168

( TWISTED )

“Elodie_” Rhodes took a step forward but she raised her hand, stopping him.

“Don’t come any closer,” She warned. “How could I be so stupid? How did I end up marrying the man who ruined me?”

Rhodes knelt down, sobbing quietly.

“Elodie, I’m sorry. Please forgive me.”

“Forgive you?” She laughed bitterly, her eyes reddened in anger and tears. “I should forgive you?” She said again, standing up to her feet. “Do you know what I went throu-gh? Do you have an idea how difficult my life was like? I lost my mother in the process. I lost my youth. I lost everything!”

“I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness… But please don’t leave me. I beg of you. I can’t_”

Elodie cut him off by releasing a ha-rd slap across his face.

Rhodes’s face turned to the side from the harsh impact.

He deserved it.

He deserved worse.

“I hate you. You disgust me, you psychopath. You were there that day, you saw your best friend ra-pe me. You should have done something but no, you stood there and watched him take away my vi-rginity. You watched him break me. And what, you are here asking for forgiveness?” She scoffed.

Rhodes hung his head low, crying.

Diamond sat behind them, watching the whole drama unfold.

She was yet to say anything. Her gaze kept averting from her mother to her stepfather.

Elodie’s eyes moved to her daughter and her cries increased.

“What is going on?” Diamond finally asked in a whisper.

Nobody answered her question which seem to make her furious.

“I ask again, what is going on? Who ra-ped who? Can someone fuc-k ing answer my question?”

It was silent for a while, but Elodie eventually spoke up.

“The girl Rhodes was talking about… The girl his best friend ra-ped while he stood there and do nothing… Was me.”

Diamond’s mouth dropped open and her eyes wide-ned in shock.

“Wha… What?”

“Julius Santiago, so that is the bastard name. Did you marry me after knowing I was the girl? You think marrying me will reduce the guilt you felt. Is that it?”

“No, no. I swear. I didn’t know you were the girl, believe me.”

“I don’t believe you, Rhodes. I can’t. Oh, my God. I must have been so stupid to have trusted an animal like you. I hate you so much.” She stated.

“Diamond,” Rhodes turned his focus on his stepdaughter who was giving him the ‘How could you do this? I am so disappointed in you’ look. “I am sorry.”

“How could you?” She asked in a whisper, shaking her head and tears started falling down her face. “Wait,” She looked up at her mother. “If Julius Santiago was the man who ra-ped you, does that mean… He… He is… He is my…” The word felt too heavy to sli-p out of her mouth.

Elodie understood what she was trying to say and nodded her head, sniffling.

“Yes. Julius Santiago is your biological father.”

“What?” Rhodes said at the top of his lungs, snapping his head to look at his wife. “Julius is Diamond’s father?” He doesn’t want to believe his ears.

“How did you think I got pregnant then? This is the secret I have been keeping away from you. I don’t know how to tell you that I got ra-ped and got a child from it. I was afraid you would see me cheap, and filthy. I was afraid of losing you. But little did I know that you are one of the causes of my misery.” She spat in anger, shooting daggers at him throu-ghher eyes.

“Oh, God. Julius is Diamond’s father. Oh, no.” He breathed out.

“God.” Diamond cried loudly, squeezing her eyes shut as pain shot up in her chest. The pain was so unbearable that it felt like she was going to die.

“Diamond,” Elodie called out and rushed to her daughter’s side. “You shouldn’t be crying like this. You_”

“My father is a rapist, a drug dealer, a psychopath. How can I not cry after hearing these things?” She sobbed.

“I’m sorry.” Her mother pleaded, surprising Diamond. “I’m sorry for punishing you for the sins of your father.”

Diamond shook her head,

“You are sorry?” She bites her lower li-p. “You hurt me. You blamed me. You abused me. You saw yourself as the victim when I am actually the victim!”

“Diamond_”

“Please go.” She said, cutting her mother off. “Just go, I don’t want to see you right now. Please.”

Elodie stood up, snatched her bag from the floor, and stormed out of the ward.

Rhodes intended to go after her but remembered there was someone else he needs to ask for forgiveness from.

He turned to his stepdaughter.

“Diamond, I am so sorry. I had a rou-ghand nasty past and_”

“You too.” She cut him off as well.

“What?”

“Get out. Leave!”

“Daughter,”

“Don’t call me your daughter because I am not your daughter! Get out of my sight! I can’t believe I saw you as a role model. I can’t believe I thought highly of a man like you. I am so disappointed in you, Mr. Rhodes.” She said, angry tears streaming down her face.

Rhodes opened his mouth to talk but he knows better than to do that.

He stood up and left the ward, at the same time her best friends were coming inside.

“Mr_” Zara began but the man ignored her completely and walked away. “Diamond, what is wrong? Your father was…” She stopped talking when she saw Diamond crying on the bed. “Oh, my God.” Zara rushed to her best friend’s side alongside Ayden. “Babes, what is it? What happened? Why are you crying? Your parents were also crying when they were leaving. What is going on? Please talk to me.”

Diamond said nothing.

“Stop asking questions,” Ayden interrupted Zara that was going to say something else. “This is the time when we don’t ask questions but give her some comfort.” He wrapped his arms around Diamond while Zara wrapped her arms around her as well from the other side.

“You can cry as long as you want, darling. We are right here with you.” Ayden said softly, placing a warm kis-s on the side of Diamond’s head.

That felt like the go-ahead to let out her emotions. She cried harder, bringing her head on Ayden’s shoulder while Zara rested her head on Diamond’s shoulder.

“You are not alone,” Zara added in a very quiet tone.

«ROSA’S HOUSE»

She alighted the cab along with Felix and Jeremiah.

“Uhm guys, I really didn’t see the need for you two to follow me home but regardless I am grateful.” She smiled.

“You are welcome.” Both said at the same time.

“Okay, then. I will be going inside. Thanks once again. Especially you, Felix.”

Felix grinned and gave a firm nod.

“It’s fine. You can call me whenever you need my company, okay?”

“Okay. I will keep that in mind. Bye.” She waved to them and went inside.

As soon as she was out of sight, Jerry and Felix exchanged glances.

“Are we going in the same direction?” Felix asked.

“Yup. I think so.”

They both started walking side by side.

It was silent between the both of them. Each one was preoccupied with the thought in their heads.

Jerry stuffed his hands inside his pocket and heaved out a de-ep breath.

“So Felix,” He began, breaking the ice that fell between them.

Felix turned to face him, raising a questioning brow.

“How has it been with you? I haven’t been seeing you again in the club, why?”

“Well, I have a lot of things going on lately.” He simply answered.

“Preparing for the wedding?”

Felix knitted his brows. “What wedding?”

“Wait, are you not getting married?”

“What are you talking about?”

“Rosalie told me you were getting married. Isn’t that right?”

“Rosalie told you?”

“You keep acting confused,” Jerry noted. “You can simply not answer if you find the question uncomfortable.”

Felix stayed quiet for a pretty long time before eventually opening his mouth to speak,

“I called off the wedding.”

“Oh. Why? What happened?”

“I don’t think we are close enough for me to tell you these things.”

“You know my name and I know yours, isn’t that close enough?”

Felix rolled his eyes. “No.”

“I see.” He paused. “I like Rosalie.”

Felix suddenly stopped walking.

Jeremiah continue walking until he realize that no one was by his side. He likewise stopped and glanced back at Felix.

“Are you surprised?” He asked Felix.

“No. Yes. Well, not really. But why are you telling me?”

Jerry shrugged. “I just want you to know what I feel for her, that’s all. Anyway, what about you?”

“What about me?”

“Do you like Rosa too?”

“Why are you asking?”

“I want to know if I should be worried about a love rival like you or not.”

“I…” Felix didn’t know what to say.

“Do you like Rosa?” Jeremiah repeated his question, giving him a pointed look.

“What?”

“Do you have feelings for Rosa? Answer the question.” He urged.

Felix bites his bottom li-p, not knowing what to say.

“You can think it throu-gh. I don’t mind. But please, make sure to tell me when you decide. Although your silence already said enough.” He started walking away, leaving Felix behind.

Rosa entered the house with some bags containing the things she got from the grocery sto-re.

Her best friend sat on the couch in the living room, staring at her like she has ten heads.

“What is wrong with you? Why are you staring at me like that?” Rosalie asked, frowning.

Lexi cleared up her throat, rising to her feet.

“I saw the commotion out there a few minutes ago.”

“Are you drunk? Because I don’t understand a word you are saying right now.”

Rosalie walked to the kitchen counter and dropped the groceries.

“Who do you like between the two guys?” Lexi asked, coming to stand beside her friend.

“Uh… What?”

“Felix? or Jerry? Which one of them do you have feelings for?”

“Okay, that’s a very crazy and stupid question, Lexi. Why are you asking such a question? I don’t get it.”

“It is so obvious that the two guys like you but you are the one with the final say because you have the power to show who it is your heart beats for.”

“You are drunk, that’s for sure.” Rosa said and headed for the stairs but Lexi stopped her.

“Stop evading the question. I know you know what I am talking about, Rosa. You can’t feign ignorance with me.”

“Listen, Felix sees me as just a friend, and Jerry_”

“I am not asking you about how they see you or what they feel for you. I am asking what you feel for them. You are leading these two guys on and that is bad.”

“You are making me look like the bad guy.”

“You are acting like one, honey. Anyway, what did you get from the grocery sto-re? I’m famished!”

Lexi strolled to the kitchen counter and started bringing out the things in the bag while Rosa stood still, lost in de-ep thoughts over what Lexi had just asked her.

«ZODIAC CLUB»

“Boss, you have a guest.” The manager, Mrs. Gloria announced, trailing from behind.

Mikhail suddenly stopped walking and turned to face his right-hand man.

“A guest? Why didn’t you tell me?”

Marcello bowed his head, pleadingly.

“I’m sorry, boss. But I didn’t know about this guest. Mrs. Gloria didn’t inform me.” He said.

Mikhail moved his ha-rd gaze to the woman who was trembling now in fear.

“What guest are you talking about? And what gave you the right to let anyone into my office without taking permission from me!”

She quickly fell to her knees, her head lowered.

“I’m so sorry, boss. He didn’t make any appointment before coming and… And I couldn’t turn him down.” She stammered.

“Who is it?”

“Me,” Gregory said, grabbing everyone’s attention.

Mikhail turned to face the man, raising a questioning brow.

“Gregory? What are you doing here?”

“I came here to talk.”

“Listen, you can’t just barge into my club without making an appointment.”

“Aren’t we friends, Ca-ssano? Do I need to go throu-ghthose stress just to have a word with my buddy?”

“You seem to be getting something wrong. We are not friends.”

“Hmm. Really? Too bad. Because I see you as a friend.” Gregory shrugged his shoulders.

“What are you doing here?”

“Let’s go.” Marcello whispered to the club manager and they both walked away, giving both men some privacy.

“We should have this conversation while drinking.” He suggested.

“Are you here to talk business or get drunk?”

“Well, let’s talk business first and then get drunk.” He said.

“It is too early to play such a silly joke.”

Gregory laughed, throwing his hands in the air as if in surrender.

“Blame it on old age. I am not like you who is only in his early thirties. Sometimes I admire your young age.”

Mikhail chooses to ignore the man.

“Come with me to my office.” He offered and started walking away with Gregory following him from behind in silence.

“I don’t trust Octavius.”

“Why not?”

“I don’t know, but I don’t trust him.”

“So what? You think he is lying?”

“Wait, do you believe him?”

Mikhail shrugged, leaning into the cool seat. “Is there a reason why I shouldn’t?”

“He could be working hand in hand with Julius and Lottie, you know.”

“What are you driving at exactly, Gregory? Make your point clear, I don’t have all time to spend with you.” Mikhail said in a dull tone.

“I’m saying we should be careful and we shouldn’t disclose every plan with him.”

“Alright.” Mikhail agreed without hesitating.

“Alright?” Gregory repeated, shocked. “You are not going to oppose?”

“You must think I was joking when I said I don’t have all time to spend with you. I’ve listened to all you have to say. Now, leave.” He said.

“I thought we agreed to drink when_”

“Leave, Gregory. I’m busy.”

Gregory hesitated but later got up and left the office.

Mikhail brou-ght out a file and started going throu-ghit.

«TINY APARTMENT»

Julius stepped out of the basement, buckling his trousers with a mischievous smile on his face.

He had sweat all over his face and body and he was breathing heavily.

“fuc-k ! It was amazing.” He breathed out, running the tip of his tongue over his li-ps.

“Here,” Lottie threw him a bottle of water which he caught with ease.

“Thanks, baby girl.” He winked.

“Hope you didn’t kill her? I still need her alive.”

“Nah. She is very much alive. Although she will be weak for the time being. Turns out, her p*ssy is tight and I drove right in without consideration.”

“Ew. I didn’t ask for details, Julius.” Lottie scrunched up her face, walked to the desk, and turned on the laptop.

“How is it going with your prey?” He asked.

“Nothing much. I am just logging in now. I hope I didn’t miss important information.” She said, cli-cking on the link.

“Are there more beers in the refrigerator?” Julius asked.

“Yeah… I think so.” She replied.

Diamond’s sleeping face is displayed on the laptop screen.

The room was completely silent and there was no one in the room. Not even a fly.

“Ah, she is such a beauty.” Julius said, standing behind Lottie’s chair while gulping beer. “I can imagine her legs wrapped around my wa-istand I fuc-k her mercilessly against a wall or table. Shit, that made me fuc-k ing hard.”

“Julius,”

“Yes, baby girl?”

“I think I know what we can do. I have a perfect plan. We are going to be killing two birds with one stone.” Lottie said, her face suddenly lighting up.

“Woah, hit me, baby. I wanna hear this plan your pretty brain just cooked up.” He smirked.

NIGHT????

«IN THE WARD»

Diamond’s eyes peeled open.

She take in her surroundings. How long has she been sleeping? Six hours? Maybe.

“You are awake.” A voice caught her attention, startling her.

It was her boss.

“Boss,” She called in a mutter, sitting upright. “What are you doing here?”

“I told you I will always come over to visit, didn’t I?”

She nodded. “Because you feel guilty for what happened to me.” She sniffled. “You done have to. I don’t hate you and neither do I blame you.”

“Well, I blame myself.”

“Don’t. You did nothing wrong. You weren’t the one who stabbed me. In fact, you rather saved me.” She said.

“Still. I still need to be responsible for you.”

“DON’T YOU GET IT? I DON’T WANT YOU HERE.” She screamed in anger.

For the first time, Mikhail was surprised to get a reaction like this from her.

She sighed, burying her fingers in her hair, tears flowing down her face.

“I’m sorry. I… I didn’t mean to… to snap out at you like that. I’m sorry.” She pleaded in tears.

“Are you okay?” He asked her.

Diamond shook her head, crying quietly.

Her life was a mess. Her thoughts were completely twisted and she don’t know what to do at that very point.

Does she have any right to be mad at her mother and father?

She promised Rhodes that she would never hate him or get mad at him and yet… She did the complete opposite.

“Hey, what is the matter?” Mikhail asked, sitting down on the bed, beside the nanny. “Why are you crying? What happened?” You could hear the anger, worry and fear in his voice.

Diamond raised her head to look at him.

“I don’t know what to do,” She choked out.

“What is it?”

“Can I hug you?” She asked.

“What?”

“Please.” She pleaded, giving him a pitiful look. She felt pity for herself.

“I…”

Before he could let out a complete sentence, she hug-ged him.

It took him five minutes to respond. He hug-ged her back, wrapping his strong arms around her petite body.

He was so gentle with her.

It was so unlike him to treat someone this way.

She continued crying in his arms, holding him tight to herself but by the time she pulled away, he was even more surprised by what she does next.

She cupped his face and slammed her li-ps against his.
