Chapter 35 &36?️?️
We have to leave in four hours Ryan.” I say as soon as I’m done booking our flights after breakfast.
My son’s news has shaken me to the point that I’m afraid of doing the DNA test. I just want to leave.
“Where are we going mummy?” He asks jumping onto the couch that I’m sitting on. I look at him and smile.
“You’ll see.” I say and he lets out a pout. I open the site with different houses that I want to buy.
I have at least two million, nine hundred and eighty seven thousand dollars in my bank account and since I’m going to start a new life, I’ll have to find a job that doesn’t involve guns and knives.
I have to keep Ryan safe and that line of work won’t do it. Maybe I could apply to train people self defense. But I’m not patient.
“What’s wrong?” Ryan asks snapping me out of my thoughts. I place my hand on his shoulder and bring him closer kizzing his hair.
“I’m thinking about these houses. Which one do you like?” I show him the three beautiful houses that I can easily afford. He looks at the houses with a grin.
“Which one has a swimming pool?” He asks and I smile fondly.
All of them have it. He always says how he would wish to live in a house with one. But I have to make it a surprise.
“I don’t know. They didn’t mention a pool in any of them.” He huffs making me want to laugh but I hold it in.
“How about this one then? We’ll build a swimming pool right Jada?” He asks innocently and I nod watching him as Jayden’s words keep on repeating inside my head.
I had a son. I have my son right here with me.
Dad always said the blue green eyes were a dominant gene on his side of the family.
He had them too but his sister, Julia and Julian’s mother had brown eyes from my grandmother but her children had the blue green eyes.
I palm Ryan’s cheek making him look at me. “It will be just you and I baby. Are you ready for that?”
I ask and Ryan nods so surely.
“You don’t have to worry about me. I’ll protect you.” He says making me let out a laugh.
“I’m sure you will.” I say as he grins. I kizz his forehead before getting up. I walk to my room to make sure everything is settled.

“Wake up baby. We’ve arrived.” I shake Ryan and his eyes shoot wide open after my last sentence. He hasn’t heard the announcement saying where we are.
I gave him my headphones and put his favorite song at the start of the flight making him not listen to the announcement before leaving.
“Where are we?” He asks and I just smile. We walk outside and I turn to him.
“You remember that aquarium that you’ve always wanted to go to so badly? Here, I can take you there easily.”
I say and his eyes widen.
“Seattle?” He asks and I nod. He suddenly hu-gs me since I’m bent to his level. I return the hu-g until I hear him sniffing.
“Ryan?” He wipes his eyes so fast. “What’s wrong?”
“It’s just I’ve always been the kid without parents at school.
There’s this kid who even told me that my parents hate me that’s why they left. Do you hate me Jada?”
“Oh baby!” I hu-g him once again tears threatening to drop. “Why didn’t you ever say anything?”
“Because I’m not a crybaby and I’m strong. I messed up with their lunch. They didn’t come to school for two days.
Oh, and I sent their parents texts telling them how their children are mean and hurt people.”1
I look at Ryan dumbfounded. “Who are you again?”
“Ryan Mark Costa. Son to Jada Costa. I know you are a bad@$$ too mum.
I saw the knives and guns.” I laugh nervously getting up and realize we’re still in the middle of the airport.
“Where in Seattle Ryan. This means we’re starting afresh. We tell each other everything. Okay?” I ask and he shows me his pinky finger. I take out mine too.
“Pinky promise.”
“Pinky promise.”
With that, we walk to our luggage. We find our suitcases then find a cab that takes us to a hotel that we’ll be staying in for a few days as I finalize the house issues with the realtor.
“I love this room. Can we leave here?” Ryan asks jumping onto his bed making me laugh.
“We can’t leave in a hotel.
Are you tired?” I ask as he shakes his head no. “Then let’s go explore and find something to eat.” I say and he nods. “But first, I have to change.”
I take out a pair of leather pa-nts and I look at them. Maybe its time to change my wardrobe too.
But I’m so used to leather pa-nts that I wear them all the time. Damn, even I could confuse my pajamas with them.
I remember placing a pair of jeans somewhere. I start searching until I find it.
I take a black tank top with some un-derwear. I walk to the bathroom leaving Ryan watching some animation movie.

“Ryan? Ryan?” I call out when I notice he isn’t walking next to me.
I look around and when I see him running towards me I let out a breath.
“Where did you run off to without telling me?” I ask almost mad. He doesn’t answer.
“I’m talking to you young man. Why did you run off without telling me?”
I ask and he shows me a string. I look up to find a balloon attached to it. I hadn’t even noticed it. I pull it down and read it.
LOVE YOU
I let out an involuntary smile. “I saw them and I wanted to surprise you.
I thought it would take a minute or less but there were so many people so I had to struggle to the front. Looks like it took longer than I thought.” He says with a sad expression.
“Oh Ryan.” I say bring him in for a hu-g. “I’m supposed to be mad at you but now I’m not. I love you too.” I say and he nods still hu-gging me. “But no running off to places without telling me okay?”
This was the second time today. At first it was when we were getting out of my apa-rtment in LA when the cab had arrived. I searched for him for five minutes and later he said that he’d gone to pee.
“Let’s go back to the hotel. Tomorrow we’ll meet the realtor.”
“Can we ask them to build a swimming pool before we move in?” He asks and I laugh.
“How about we ask them if we can go check the house first?” I ask and he looks de-ep in thoughts.
“Can my room have a computer and some gadgets.” He asks.
“We’ll see the gadgets that you’re talking about. No more hacking into people’s phones Ryan. Who taught you that in the first place?” I ask as we walk.
We’re a block away from the hotel.
“Cole. He said he’s your secret friend.” He says looking for any reaction but I don’t show anything.
“Then Cole is lucky to be far away right now.” I answer my grip on the shopping bags ti-ghtening.
Ryan doesn’t say anything and we walk the remaining distance quietly.

JAYDEN’S POV
“Jayden!” Ryan excitedly runs to me. I know that they are leaving for the airport in a few minutes.
“Hey kiddo. You ready to leave?” I ask and he nods excitedly. “So, where are you going to?” I ask hopefully but as usual Jada looks like she thought ahead.
“Mummy said it was a surprise. Will you come and see us?”
“Yes. I will but I’ll have to know where you are going to.”
“We can go and ask my mum.” Ryan says but I shake my head negatively.
“I can’t kid. Do you know who your guardian angel is?”
“My mum.” He says surely and I laugh.
“Yeah. And I’m your mum’s but she doesn’t know that.” I whisper like its a secret but he looks at me dumbly.
“Then tell her so that you can go with us.” He says innocently. I know Jada will appear anytime to look for Ryan.
“No, I can’t. But take this is my number. Whenever you’re both in trouble or nee-d to talk to anyone just call me okay? I’ll be there.
” I say and he looks at the paper that I give him.
“Take care of Jada. And don’t tell her that we talked, or my guardian angel powers will…”
“You should un-derstand that I not a small baby. I know you like my mum and I like you.” He says making me shut my mouth. He’s just like Leo in a way.
“You got me. Now go or she’ll suspect something.” I say and he salutes at me and I nod at him. He turns to leave but I stop him. I walk to him.
“Don’t forget to call me.” I say as I cut a few strands of hair.
“We’ll see.” He grins as he leaves and I put the few strands of hair in an airti-ght bag.
I walk to my motorbike that is parked on the other side of the basement parking and I see Jada’s missing.
I look to where her car’s always parked but it’s also not there.
I let out a huff before getting on mine and soon enough I’m out of the basement.
I see Jada and Ryan getting into a cab as I ride past them making sure to make eye contact with Jada.
‘We’ll meet soon.’ I say throu-ghmy eyes but her cold eyes look away as she gets into the waiting cab.
I drive to my friend’s hospital. His colleague has specialized with the DNA tests. I give them the two different bags with black hair strands.
Time to give Amelia a short visit. From what I know, she works in Sydney’s and Isabella Kings’ joint company as the Finance manger.
I’ve always seen the company on my way to my mother’s. They are a block apa-rt.
I arrive in front of the building my bike making everyone to look at me before continuing with whatever they are doing. Should have brou-ght my car.
I walk to the security people who ask for my identification. I tell them that I’m there to see Amelia Harrison.
They tell me to wait as they call her office. Two minutes later, I’m given a visitor’s badge and told where to go. I stand in the elevator then press seventeen.
The first person I see after the elevator opens is Amelia who stands there with a serious face. She tells me to follow her and I scoff.
I watch her walking away until she stops and looks behind confused. She walks to me looking angry.
“What are you doing?” She asks her jaw clenching.
“You should talk politely to your visitors Mrs Harrison.” I say my voice taunting. I can see frustration build up inside her.
“Follow me, please.” She plasters a fake smile as I do too. I follow her to a room that I can easily conclude it’s a meeting room.
“What do you want?”
“Jada knows that her son is alive.” I say and I see her visibly gulp as she pales.
I was told Jada is one of the most feared women in the mafia. Isabella is the most feared but Jada is on the top three list.
“When?” She asks and I see her slightly shaking but she tries to hide it by sitting.
“A few hours ago.
I bet she’s going to Italy as we’re speaking right now. She just left for the airport.” I say gauging her reaction to the news. Her eyes widen.
“But I’m still searching. I tracked the couple that lived there. The man died two years ago and the woman is sick.
I was to meet her today.” She says. I know she wants to breakdown but she doesn’t. She’s trying not to show any weakness.
“Tell me how it goes. Maybe I’ll talk to Jada.” I say before walking to the gl@$$ door. ”
Text me the time and place you’ll meet the woman.” I don’t look back as I walk to the elevator where I find Isabella talking to a man about something in the file. She looks up and sees me surprise showing on her face.
“Jayden. Fancy seeing you here.” She says with a smile. The man next to me gives me a nod in greeting.
“I came to see Amelia. I’m leaving now.” I say and she nods with a smile but I can see her eyes looking at me with question. I look ahead until we reach the ground floor.
“I’m a fan Jayden Williams.” He say seconds before the elevator stops. I give him a nod not knowing what to say. I stopped playing? But everyone know that by now. It was announced everywhere.
Tell me how it goes. Maybe I’ll talk to Jada.” I say before walking to the gl@$$ door. “Text me the time and place you’ll meet the woman.”
I don’t look back as I walk to the elevator where I find Isabella talking to a man about something in the file. She looks up and sees me surprise showing on her face.

I should go back to my apa-rtment. But to do what? I’ve never had nothing to do because of basketball and Leo. I look at the building a block away and I sigh.
“Here I come mother.”
I stop my bike on the nearest parking space and walk to the entrance. Everyone recognizes me and so I walk straight to the elevator and press to the top most floor. The fifty eighth bu-tton.
I walk to my mother’s secretary who seems to be busy. “Hi, Tess. Is my mother in?” I ask making her stop, startled.
“Oh, Jayden. I’ve always told you to stop doing that.” “She scolds jokingly as she holds her che-st her cheeks turning a shade darker.
“It’s always comical.” I say laughing and she grins.
“Long time no see. What brings you here?” She asks giving me a genuine smile.
“I came to see mother.” I say.
“She free for the next hour. Since Leo’s… death, she doesn’t take a break.” She says bi-ting her li-p. That action would get to me before but I feel nothing right now. I nod my mood dampened.
“I’ll see her now.” I say before walking to my mother’s door. I knock and I hear my mother’s emotionless voice reminding me of Jada. Jada.
“Come in.”
I open the door making her look up. I can see surprise cover her face for a second before she’s back to her blank face. Just like Jada.
“Jayden.” She states as I walk to one of the chairs near her desk.
“Mother.” I say with the same tone as she’s done making her let out a surprising warm laugh.
“Still trying to imitate me son?” She asks making me look at her intently. She’s never like this.
“Maybe because I still look up to you.” I say making her to stop whatever she’s doing. She looks at me for a second or two.
“Did you nee-d anything Jayden?” She asks going back to her cold self.
“Once in a while, we nee-d to see our parents no matter how cold and unloving they are.” I spit. She looks at me surprised.
“I have work to do Jayden. I can’t sit and chit chat with you when you have nothing to do. As you can see, I’m busy.” She says making me let out a dry laugh.
“Maybe if you were a little bit warmer, Leo would have died knowing he had a grandmother that loved him and Linda would come back to see you.
She nee-ds you mother. Especially now when she’s going to be a mother too.”
I say and stand. I storm out of her office and not bother to say anything to Tess.
