VOICE FOR THE POOR… SEASON THREE
EPISODE 13

I stared at him in smile.

As you alre-ady know Ike, my name is Brenda Tieku, 26 years of age, a biological daughter to one Mr Ebo Arthur, and a perceived daughter to one Mr Tieku Adam.
I am the only daughter to my biological father, and the second born to my perceived father. I responded.

Wow! This sound more of a family secret.
RM, I won’t bother you to explain it into details, just feel free to dive with me into it when the time is right. He stated smartly.

I’ve heard you Ike, thanks for un-derstanding the unun-derstandable. I responded.

Anyway, like I also told you the last time, my name is Isaac Osei, 28 years of age, the first son of my parents.
I have a kid brother who is in the s£nior high School. My parents are farmers and I am also here pursuing law to ensure fairness in this my homeland Ghana. He introduced.

Wow, I’m glad I know you now. You have such a cute family. I responded.

But hey, may I know why all the ladies on campus are on your n£¢k? I asked.

Hahahaha RM, no one is on my n£¢k, they are the ones breaking their own n£¢ks for carrying burdens that are heavier than them. He replied smartly.

We conversed for a while and he prepared yam and egg stew for me.

We went out afterwards, to walk for a while.

We later returned to his hostel to pick my bag, since it was getting late.

Just when I was stepping out of his room, he pu-ll-ed me towards himself.
RM, I bless God for blessing me with you.
I bless Him for this day.
I bless the day I gained admission into this school.
And I bless you for choosing me over anyone else.

This is love, and not a S-x exploitation.
I love you because I love you, and I want us to fall in love with ourselves each pas-sing minute till death do us ap@rt.
But one thing, no S-x before marriage. I know that is what your heart yearns for, and that is what mine wishes for as well.

Be my best friend, be my sister, be my p@rtner in everything I do, and I promise to do same for you. He whispered softly.

I’ve heard you Ike. It is well. I responded happily.

He esc-rted me to the hostel.
I vowed never to step a foot in the ladies’ hostel but I’ve gladly broken this vow for love.
Stay safe and have a nice evening. He bid and walked away happily.

I just couldn’t keep my mind off the fact that, my heart has known peace for having Ike in my struggling life.

Days pas-sed quic-kly and we vacated.

RM, where will you spend your vacation? Ike asked.

Currently, I am homeless, but I am hoping to find a job that will provide me an accommodation. I responded.

Do you mind if we go to my village? He asked.

No problem about that, but the problem is how I am going to pay my fees when school reopens.
I don’t want to work in the school canteen next semester, it took more of my time for studies. I responded.

School fees? Well, let’s just say I have saved enough money from my farm proceeds to cater for your fees and mine as well. He as-sured.

No Ike, I don’t take payment for what I’ve not worked for. I turned down.

Who says you are not going to work for it, let’s get to my village, and I will give you work to do to pay for the offer. He convinced.

I packed my things and followed Ike to his village.

We got to his home finally.
A two be-droom house, built with bricks.
A hut kitchen, and a livestock of sheep and goats in a cage in the compound.

Wow! I love this place, this is a home of reality.
Real definition of what life entails. I soliloquised.

Welcome home my children, Ike’s mother welcomed happily.

Thanks mother. Where is my father? Ike inquired.

He’s gone to visit one of his friends. She responded.

Alright mother. Anyway meet Brenda Adwoa Tieku.
She is the daughter you never had.
The daughter you’ve been yearning for. Ike introduced.

Thanks so much Adwoa, for choosing me as your mother, and my home as yours.
Welcome once again and enjoy your stay. Mother responded happily.

We conversed happily as a family and she served us a sumptous fufu and groundnut soup with mushroom and fish.

VOICE FOR THE POOR… SEASON THREE
EPISODE 14

We conversed happily as a family and she served us a sumptous fufu and groundnut soup with mushroom and fish.

Later in the evening, his father returned home.
Ike introduced me to him and he also began asking questions about my family.

My daughter, I am happy to have you in my home, because, my son has never brou-ght any woman here before, and once he has, it means you are indeed a good woman.

Isaac my son is the reserved type, he an-alyzes issues critically before drawing conclusions.

He is very ha-rd working, he is the one who owns this livestock you see in this compound.
It is due his ha-rd work, that’s why this family is surviving.

Above all, he is gentle and God fearing, so I trust his decisions.

But my daughter, permit me to ask if your parents are aware you are here with us. He asked.

Yes daddy, they are aware. I lied.

Soon, it was be-d time and Ike took me inside his room to sleep while he joined his parents in their room.

The room was unkept, and I decided to rearrange the items for him the next morning.

Early the following morning, I woke up and hurriedly swept the compound. I also helped his junior brother to feed the livestock, and later got back to the room to tidy up.

Ike knocked and c@m£ to join me.
RM, why are you up this early? You are supposed to be slee-ping because we had a long day yesterday. He stated.

No honey, life is stressful each pas-sing minute, and you can’t waste all your time slee-ping, you will end up achieving nothing. I responded.

That’s true though. Anyway, what are you doing? He asked.

As you can see, this room is unkept, and I am tidying up the place. I responded in smiles as I continued doing it.

I brou-ght out all his shi-ts from the bag and began folding it one after the other.

When I finished with the first bag, I brou-ght out the trou-sers from the second bag.
Immediately I poured them on the be-d, a c@m£ra fell heavily on the floor.

I stared at it in shock.
God of Israel, this is my c@m£ra! This is the c@m£ra that captured my brother and my mother’s atrocities.
The c@m£ra that mysteriously got lost after burying it at a trusted place!

God! This is the evidence I’ve been waiting for to strike at the presidency! I thought as tears spewed from my eyes.

RM what is it? Why are you staring at the c@m£ra in tears?
Is it so nice or what? Or do you like it? Ike asked in shock.

Ike, plea-se where did you get this c@m£ra from? I asked.

This c@m£ra? I once traveled to the City to sell some of my livestock.
After the sales, it was late so I called a friend of mine to give me a place to stay. Unfortunately, it was raining heavily and I was running on t©p speed.
I got to the middle of the road and I realized the place was flooded, so I stood somewhere for a while. Whiles standing, I saw p@rt of something buried in the ground.
Because of erosion, p@rt of it was showing. Out of curiosity, I dug it out and discovered it was a c@m£ra, a tape. He narrated.

Eheh? So what happened? I asked.

Nothing happened RM, I only picked it, and the next day when I was returning to the village, I carried it along.
My kid brother has been pestering me to dash it to him but I refused. He explained.

Ike, this is unbelievable! This c@m£ra is mine! This c@m£ra and tape, was supposed to be the solution to our problems as citizens of this nation. I responded.

How RM? The c@m£ra is even locked. Since I picked it, I have never been able to view a thing on it. He said.

That is because I am the only one who knows the code to the lock. I responded.

RM, for once I’m doubting if this is truly your c@m£ra. I believe there is a mix up somewhere. He stated.

I quic-kly picked it from the floor, turned it around in shock, and entered the digits to unlock it.

What! This is unbelievable! What a coincidence RM! So indeed, this c@m£ra is yours? That means that, our meeting is destined. God indeed is wonderful. Ike exclaimed happily.

Ike, before I fl!pthrou-gh the contents on this c@m£ra with you, I want you to make me a promise. I stated calmly.

RM, the day I accepted my heart to love you, was the day I vowed to be there for you in all things.
And the very moment you stepped foot into this house, was the time I made you my wife.

Being with you means fighting your battle, sharing your joy, and shedding your tears. If there is any more promise than this that you nee-d, kindly tell me, and I promise to give it to you. He responded wisely.

I stared into his eyes in tears still.
Ike, I trust you. I responded.

We both sat on the be-d, and I began my story.
