Mwamba hit s£nd on his l@pt©p then proceeded to switch it off. Every friday he picked up Milda and Peter for the weekend. He made it a fact to leave the office early so that he could pick them up before they had their afternoon snack. The three would go for cake, donuts or ice cream before going to his house. Sometimes Dorica helped out with the children, and would follow for them to Mwamba’s house. This weekend however, Dorica was attending a friend’s wedding. So it would just be the three of them. He had the weekend planned out. Tonight they would have pizza as he was too tired to cook.

He rushed out the office, knowing Peter and Milda were most likely anxious as they waited for his arrival.

“You are late.” Dorica tea-sed him as he walked past her at the reception. “Milda should be throwing a fit right about now.”

“I know. Eish, the conference call went on longer than I would have liked. Anyway, enjoy your wedding.”

“Its my friend’s wedding you know.” Dorica joked.

“Ah.. well one day I hope you do enjoy your wedding.” Mwamba laughed. ”

Mwamba drove straight to Naomi’s house. Peter and Milda sat waiting on the veranda. Mwamba couldn’t help but smile at the sight of them.

“You are late!” Milda complained.

“How do you know I’m late?”

“Because Peter said. And I’m tired of waiting forever.”

“We thought you wouldn’t come.” Peter added.

“Have I ever not come after telling you I’m coming?”

Peter shook his head.

“See, so you had no reason to worry. Where’s your mum?”

“In the be-droom.”

“Go tell her I’m here.”

Peter went into to the house to the master be-droom. “Mummy. Dad is calling you.”

“Tell him to come here. In getting re-ady.”

Peter went out and delivered Naomi’s message. Mwamba stood by the door of the master be-droom, trying to push out all memories of his life before. It took him a minute before he knocked.

“Come in!”

Mwamba hesitated.

“Mwamba? You can come in.”

Mwamba opened the door and walked in slowly. Naomi sat by the dressing table wra-pped in a towel.

“Hi. I c@m£ to pick up the kids.” Mwamba felt uncomfortable being in the be-droom alone with Naomi.

“Ok. Can you keep them up to Tuesday?”

“Why?”

“I’m going out of town until Tuesday.”

It was then that Mwamba noticed the small suitcase on the be-d. “Work?”

“Nope. Just a short holiday.”

“I see. That means I’ll have to pick up Viki to stay with us.”

“I gave Viki time off till Wednesday.” Naomi said without look up at him.

“Naomi you should have told me in advance to that I make arrangements.”

“Well the trip just c@m£ up. If you cant manage I can s£nd them over to Kasiwe’s place today.”

Mwamba bit his l!pin an effort to disguise his frustration. “There is no way my children are ever allowed to visit that woman!”

“Kasiwe is my closest friend. She would take them in a heartbeat if I asked.”

“I have warned you before about that woman but your stubbornness as usual st©ps you from seeing the truth!”

Naomi, now standing, laughed out loudly clutching her abd0m£n that her towel sli-pped down slightly ex-posing her upper b©dy. Mwamba flin-ched unexpectedly at seeing Naomi p@rtially expo-sed.

“I’ll… they will be brou-ght back on Sunday. I will keep them for the whole week.” Mwamba retreated before Naomi could say or do anything else.

Naomi shrugged her shoulders after Mwamba was out of the be-droom. She had expected Mwamba to insist on not being able to keep the children so that she has an excuse of staying behind. Having accepted Jefferies invitation for a weekend out, Naomi regretted that decision. In as much as she liked Jefferies, she felt uneasy with the prospects of getting inti-mate with him. Having S-x with him would surely mean it was really over with Mwamba. Even though she did not admit it to herself, Naomi hoped Mwamba would come back home to her throwing out the divorce.

Jefferies picked up Naomi that evening. He had been looking forward to the weekend for the longest time. The thought if having her in his be-d was bringing a shiver down his spine. Jefferies had a reputation of charming women regardless of their marital status. Naomi had always seemed immune of his charms, refusing to take it a step further. Now that she was having problems in her marriage, he planned to take advantage of her situation. That was where the thri-ll usually ended for him, once he had his conquest in his be-d.
Kasiwe was different though. She was the one who had persued him, ma-king all the rules. He enjoyed that about Kasiwe, her take charge attitude. It made S-x with her more enjoyable.

“Hey beautiful.” He leaned in to k!ssher.

“Hey handsome.” Naomi blu-shed.

“re-ady for the best weekend of your life?”

“You bet!”

Jefferies drove them out of town. He had booked a weekend at Chaminuka lodge in chongwe. The further the went from town, the more nervous Naomi bec@m£. Driving throu-gh the gates of Chaminuka Naomi felt a sharp pain in her abd0m£n. Jefferies parked in front of the reception. Within minutes the two were esc-rted to one of the chalets. Naomi had hoped he would book separate rooms, instead of one. When they entered the room, Jefferies took her into his arms pressing her again the door he had just closed. Naomi could feel his excitement rising in his groin.

“Ah.” Naomi cried out in pain. The sharp abdominal pain that she had experienced upon arrival returned.

“Have I hurt you?” Jefferies asked, moving back cautiously.

“No! I think I nee-d to use the bathroom. Sorry, just give me a minute.” She rushed to the toilet.

‘plea-se let me get my period,’ Naomi found herself praying as she closed the door to the bathroom.

Naomi sat down on the toilet and immediately had a bout of diarrhea. Holding her breath, Naomi used a piece of tissue to wipe herself.

“Yes!” She smiled, relief suddenly overcoming her. She had started her period a week early. Naomi knew she would spend most of that time visiting the toilet as she often had diarrhea in the first 2 days of her cycle.

“Are you ok in there?” Jefferies asked at the door.

“Eh, kind of.” Naomi tried to sound disappointed. She cleaned herself quic-kly then washed her face. Jefferies was lying on the be-d when she c@m£ out. He had taken off his shi-t and shoes, remaining only with the shorts he had been wearing. He smiled mischievously as she walked towards the be-d.

“I thought you wouldn’t come out of there.” Jefferies moved to the edge of the be-d.

“Eish, I have some unfortunate news. I..” Naomi sighed. She had not shared such information to anyone other than Mwamba. “I have just started my period.” She blurted it out.

“Come on. St©p joking.” He pu-ll-ed her down to his l@p and started k!ss!ngher n£¢k.

“No, I’m not. I really have started my period!”

“What? Are you kidding me? You made us come all the way knowing you were on your menses?” His voice was raised as he pushed her off his l@ps.

“Jef, I wasn’t expecting them today. It just happened.” Naomi was spooked by his behavior.

“I hate being strung along.”

“I wasn’t.” Naomi felt her eyes sting with tears threatening to fall.

Jefferies pu-ll-ed her towards him again, pushing her down onto the be-d. “You know very well how much I want you.” He started k!ss!ngher, his hand sliding un-derneath her shi-t.

“Come on Jef. We cant do this now.” Naomi tried to push him off.

“I dont mind your current situation.” He whispered, his breath h0t on her n£¢k. “I’m really hor-nyfor you.”

“NO!” Naomi used all the strength she could master to push him off her. “That is disgusting! Look, I know you’re disappointed. But I didnt plan this.”

“Pick up your bags.” Jefferies put on his shi-t and shoes, then and walked out leaving Naomi stunned.

“We can still enjoy the weekend.” She said catching up to him.

He scoffed, walking fas-ter towards the car. Within minutes they were driving out. “You know my intentions for the weekend. You are not a child Naomi. This is an adult relationsh!p. Besides you are a married woman. I’m not here to court you. I’m here to have fun. If you’re looking for more than that then you’re wasting your time.”

Naomi bit herl-ip. Jefferies bluntness had taken her off guard. She un-derstood his disappointment, but she had not expected him to react the way he did. Jefferies drove her home, leaving her dumbfounded.
