CHAPTER 75

Two things were on Nwadiuto’s mind, Malik’s disrespect and her mother-in-law to be. She had shoved the second out of her the way but with what Josh had said, she had to put together a plan and strategise on the implementation. Malik was a small fry.

She had also decided to let her family know how she felt about Josh. She realized she nee-ded only one person’s consent and that’s her father’s. If her mother and grandmother resist her desi-re, she will call her father into the situation.

Malik called her some days after to ask if she was throu-ghwith her period. She told him she was and would nee-d a few days before they meet. She suggested the following weekend.

That weekend, she went to Port-Harcourt instead. Nwadiuto sat with her grandmother who was surprised to see her. Nwakaego who loved to entertain went all out for her granddaughter. She even packed some of the food in the freezer for her to take back to Abuja.

After they had relaxed, Nwadiuto brou-ght up the conversation.

“Why don’t you like Josh? What do you have against him?” she asked her grandmother.

“I like him as a person but I don’t think you should marry outside Igbo land. We have so much we are protecting and wouldn’t want outsiders to exp-ose our secret”

“What secret? That I was born out of wedlock or a child of incest? It is our Igbo people that will have a problem with it if they find out not outsiders. Have you ever considered the fact that I love this guy? I am head over heels in love with him. There is nothing you will tell me that will change my mind about him. I don’t want an Igbo guy or Itsekiri or Hausa or Yoru-ba or Bini, I want Josh regardless of his tribe and age. He is the only person in this world who un-derstands me”

“Bini people are not nice. Ogo, your cousin was killed by a Bini girl who was desperate to teach us a lesson. Chioma who is in America with her husband was shipped to Italy for prostitution by the same woman. Ok, what are Josh’s parents saying?”

“His father has given his blessings; his mother would have preferred a Bini girl too but Josh is standing with me.”

“You see, even his mother wants him to marry from their tribe”

“His mother reasons like you so what do we expect? Both of you don’t consider how we feel about each other; that is very unfair. I didn’t say anything because I wanted to know how serious Josh was and if he would fight to have me. He has proved himself and now I am ready to be his forever”

“His mother must have a good reason for thinking the way I do”

“Well, she does. She says you killed your husband to be rich and so did your daughter. She’s afraid I will do the same to her son. She believes it is either a curse or it was intentional. Is she right? “

“She is talking nonsense! What does she mean by that? Do you now un-derstand why I said you should marry from home? What did Josh say?”

“He is marrying me whether she gives her support or not. Although he has asked me to deal with her for making those utterances.”

“You really like Josh, I can see that. But, with this new revelation, I will stand my ground and won’t allow you enter the lion’s den”

“You don’t have the final say grandma, I have a father and he has the final say as an Igbo girl. If he gives me his consent, I will legally marry Josh, get pregnant and move out of Nigeria. You will never see me or my offsprings again”

“What did you just say?”

“Let me call my father” Nwadiuto picked her phone to call her father to the unbelieve of her grandmother. “Hello daddy, how are you? A quick one dad, as you are aware Josh asked me to marry him and I said yes. Do you give us your support in this our quest?”

“What do your mother and grandmother say?” Chidi asked her.

“They want me to marry an Igbo guy”

“Not after all Josh did for you? I will love him to be my son-in-law because I have a good relationship with him. He is a nice young man. I will consent to it if asked but the final decision rests on your mother and grandmother”

“No, dad. The final decision rests with me. Both of them are being unreasonable. We will elope and have a court wedding”

“You want to break your mother’s and grandmother’s hearts? Don’t do that; they will come around when the time is right. I will have a chat with both of them”

“Ok, dad. Thank you”

Nwakaego stood up and went into her room. She was very upset with Nwadiuto. Why would Nwadiuto ru-b her father in her face after all they did for her? Which father? The man that can never come out to receive her dowry; it will be an abomination. “Nwanneka said this girl has gotten out of hand and I didn’t believe her. How can she even choose a Bini boy over her family?” she pondered.

She stayed indoors for hours expecting Nwadiuto to come into the room to talk to her but she didn’t. By the time she came out, Nwadiuto had left. Nwakaego was livid with anger. Nwadiuto had grown wings just because she is eating what they are and had eaten.

Nwadiuto flew to Lagos to see her mother. She was at home with Paul when she got there. The boys weren’t home.

“Mum, please, tell me why I can’t marry Paul”

“Did I say you can’t? I said discuss with your grandmother”

“Discuss what? I love Josh and I want to marry him. If you refuse, please know that this is the last time you will be seeing me.”

“What are you saying?”

“I am saying if you do not support me to marry Josh then forget about me entirely”

Paul looked at Nwadiuto and asked her, “You want to elope with Josh? He will never do that, he has too much respect and regards for you to do that. You are angry at your mother and grandmother, I un-derstand that. But eloping isn’t right. Nikky, why don’t you want her to marry Josh? We both know the guy loves her. What is stopping you?”

“Josh knows too much and might use it against her in the future”

“What does he know that is a secret?”

“Nwadiuto, should I tell him?” Nwanneka asked her daughter.

“How would you marry him without confiding something so de-ep with him? Please tell him” Nwadiuto answered.

“Nwadiuto, I want to hear it from you” Paul insisted.

“She had me out of wedlock for her cousin. I am a child of incest and everyone is afraid Josh will reveal this secret. Meanwhile, I am supposed to marry an Igbo guy and never tell him the secret. But the person who knows and hasn’t allowed it to bother him shouldn’t be my husband”

“Nikky, let this girl marry the man she loves. She has my full support. The marriage might last or it might not but the most important thing is that they had an opportunity to be together and be happy for some time. I believe the relationship will last a very long time”

“My mother is the next problem” Nwanneka replied.

“I will let her see reason. Give your daughter your consent”

“If you are sure you want to be with him, I give you my consent”

Nwadiuto hu-gged her mother and said thank you. “By the way, I left your angry mother in Port-Harcourt to come here. She will call you, tell her I came to cry to you. If you tell her otherwise, I won’t have your back when the nee-d arises.”

“Would you have dinner with us?”

“No, thank you. I am going to see Josh now; he doesn’t know I am here. I will spend the night there and go back tomorrow”

“Why do you have to sleep there? Don’t you think he has had too much access to you?”

“He is complaining it is not even enough. Get your mother to consent so you will stop looking at it like sin”

Nwadiuto went to see Josh. He was surprised when she called and said she was at his house. He had to rush home to meet her. She told him what she discussed with her people and the outcome. She had gotten three consents it was just the remaining one.

The next morning, Josh took Nwadiuto to see his uncle, his mother’s brother. The way he looked at Nwadiuto, you will know the man likes women. Josh had warned her about him making advances at her. He did the same to all his girlfriends and a girl he intended to marry. Some of them fell and some were wiser.

He asked Nwadiuto questions which she answered. They talked about so many things in general. His wife never sat with them; she went into the kitchen to cook and later served them. She didn’t eat with them. Nwadiuto found this strange and voiced it out.

“Wouldn’t your wife be joining us? Nwadiuto asked Josh’s uncle.

“No, she wouldn’t. She’s a shy person and doesn’t like discussions.”

“I wouldn’t feel comfortable eating her food while she is away when she is supposed to sit with us at the table”

“This one is sharp and smart. I can see why your mother doesn’t like her. She is everything your mother is and she is a threat to her. She’s a younger version of your mother; feisty and bold. They can never be friends. They will have continuous clashes. She wants a subjugated woman for you who you and her can order about. This one can never be subdued by your mother”

“I know uncle. It will be a war. I nee-d your support when the time comes because I will go ahead to marry Nwadiuto without her blessings”

“Never, I will have everyone’s blessings before I marry you. She must come around before we get married.” Nwadiuto insisted.

“This one is wise too. What does your father say?”

“He has given his consent” Josh replied.

“Your mother will come around eventually. You know she loves you so much and you have been rebellious for some time now. Maybe you should have a heart to heart with her”

“It didn’t work uncle, but I trust Nwadiuto to handle it”

“Perfect, let the two women sort it out” then he spoke in bini to Josh, “You are enjoying this one. She didn’t allow me to even wink at her, her eyes were just on you. Treat her well especially in bed so you don’t share her with anybody. If you nee-d as-sistance, I am available to help. I like to tame this type of women and listen to their cry in plea-sure”

“Uncle, you are an old man now. If this girl handles you, you will either remain in a wheelchair or get to hellfire at once. Trust me, you won’t survive it”

“Well done. This one will keep you busy for life”

Back in Abuja, Nwadiuto contacted Malik and apologized for her absence. Then she fixed Wednesday evening for their rendezvous. Malik was excited hearing from her as she had called of her own accord. She agreed to book the Hilton in his name as her token for disappointing him. Malik was excited as memories flooded his head and affected his groin.

Nwadiuto walked into the Hilton after she was sure Malik was waiting for her. She collected another key handed it to someone and they both went up the elevator. She knocked on the door and Malik answered her wearing his boxers and singlets only outlining what he had to offer.

“I didn’t know you would pull this throu-gh. You look hot!”

“I just came in from work, I will like to take a bath first if you don’t mind”

“I don’t. We could take a shower together”

“I’m shy. Let me take a shower first. In the meantime, how adventurous are you?”

“Very”

“Good. Because I brou-ght my toys for us to play with. Before we start, I want you to sign an agreement that you agreed to the BDSM. I intend to handcuff you and then ride you to ecstasy. But you must agree to it” Nwadiuto said smiling.

Malik had second thoughts about it but looking at Nwadiuto looking so sweet and s-×y, he threw caution to the wind, read throu-ghthe docu-ment and signed. She took her bath, came out wearing a red sli-p and then proceeded to handcuff and blindfolded him after handcuffing him.

Nothing happened for a few minutes and Malik was a bit worried until he heard some music and then someone pulled down his boxers and went to work. He was enjoying himself. He said, “Baby this is so good, I didn’t know you had it in you”

“Do you like it?”

“Yes, I do. You are getting it right” and then he stopped talking. The hand and mouth on his manhood hadn’t stopped while Nwadiuto was talking so how come she was talking while she was ….. “Remove my blindfold” he ordered.

“Why baby?”

“I said remove my blindfold now.”

“Fine” and she removed the blindfold.

Malik almost had a heart attack as he saw a man going down on him while Nwadiuto held a camcorder recording everything. He was shocked and surprised. Nwadiuto ended the recording and said to Malik.

“Your friend told you he was engaged to me and you came secretly to still sleep with me. What do you take me for? I can never disrespect or dishonour Josh by getting down with you while I am engaged to him. You are a despicable human being and not worthy of my time or my attention. Stay away from me. If you come anywhere close to me, this video will circulate. If you try to harm me, it will go viral. I have done this to get you away from me and also to save myself. Keep away from me”

“I get the message. Nwadiuto, please delete this video and it will be like I have never met you before. We are strangers to each other. I beg of you”

“This is my security. I have sent it to five trusted people. If they hear I have been involved in an accident, they will circulate it. If they don’t hear from me every week, it will go viral. Whichever way you try to hurt me, be certain it will come back to you. And, if you ever mention this to Josh, I will make sure it circulates directly to your clients”

“I agree to your terms. Please rele-ase me let’s talk”

“It is too late for that. After I leave, he will rele-ase your hands and give you the keys to rele-ase your legs. I am out of here”

Nwadiuto walked to the elevator, got to the lobby and from there to her car. Then she called her accomplice and said to him, “You can rele-ase him now”. She drove off from the hotel to her new apartment. She had taught him a lesson he wouldn’t forget in a hurry.
