EPISODE 33
THE GILBERT RESIDENT
Around 12pm king got ready and came downstairs to wait for Camila, before he went to his room he told her to get prepare so they could go make her hair.
Camila quickly took her bathe and came downstairs too
CAMILA
I’m ready, can we go?
KING
sure…. you wear trouser too?
CAMILA
(She smiles shyly)
I don’t usually wear it, because of
KING
I can see it myself, you have a very bless curves and very beautiful.
CAMILA
thank you sir
KING
but why did you decide to wear trouser today?
CAMILA
my clothes are dirty, this is the only available thing I could wear.
KING
oh okay… so shall we?
CAMILA
yes sir
KING
that reminds me, I checked the telephone, someone called, did you call anyone with it?
CAMILA
it could be my sister, she’s the only one I have called with it.
KING
where is the phone I bought for you?
CAMILA
it’s in my bag
KING
your bag? when has phone become something that stays in the bag?
CAMILA
the phone is too big, beside I only know how to watch those online courses you registered me on…. i don’t know anything else on the phone.
KING
(Shocked)
you are not on Facebook? WhatsApp? Twitter? Instagram?
CAMILA
where is all those ones? after watching the online course I drop my phone back inside my bag.
KING
don’t worry, when I come back I’m going to open an account for you on all this social platform… it’s fun though.
CAMILA
alright…. please can I quickly call my sister back?
KING
let’s go, you can do that on the way with my phone…. I have an appointment with the doctor by 3pm…. so whatever I have to do I nee-d to be free before 2:30pm to go pick Jasmine from school.
Camila agreed and followed him outside, king opened the car door for her and she entered…. he entered too and drove away.
CAMILA
can I use your phone to call my sister now?
KING
of course, the pas-sword is Jasmine
CAMILA
oh okay…. thank you
she carries the phone and dialled her sister’s number, immediately Anna answered the phone.
ANNA
good afternoon, please….
CAMILA
it’s me Camila, good afternoon
ANNA
you this girl what’s your problem, I have been calling, you didn’t answer and didn’t call back….. you want to kill me?
CAMILA
I’m so sorry, I was so sick for two days, but I’m okay now
ANNA
oh poor thing, you were? and you didn’t border to call me? how’s your health now?
CAMILA
I’m fine now… how are you and your brother inlaw?
ANNA
his fine
For a moment she forgot her sister could hear thought so she lose guard and said in her heart that “his fine just that his tempting me with the proposal of love”
Immediately Camila choked on her saliva, she started to couch so ha-rd that king had to park and tap her back to calm down
KING
take it easy , would you?
(he said with so much care in his voice)
CAMILA
thank you sir….
Camila couldn’t believe her ears, maybe what she heard wasn’t the right thing…. she decided to speak her language with her sister.
CAMILA
you are having an affair with your brother in-law?
ANNA
you went into my head again, didn’t you?
CAMILA
I didn’t, I promised you remember? beside I nee-d to be beside you before I can go into your head… your thoughts you said those things in your mind and I heard them.
ANNA
it’s not like that Camila, we haven’t started anything yet…. we haven’t done anything yet.
CAMILA
But from the look of things you won’t mind
ANNA
I don’t know sis, my heart feels is wrong, but Alex has left me with no choice.
CAMILA
I’m in the car with my boss right now, we are going out so I could go make my hair…. I ill call you with my number once I get home.
ANNA
so this number isn’t yours?
CAMILA
this belong to him
ANNA
Are you dating your boss already?
CAMILA
(She choked again)
where did you get such silly idea from? I’m not dating him okay?
She said and turn to look at king, she immediately looked away and smiled.
ANNA
(She giggled)
but your tone says something else, my sister is in love… is that what is it?
CAMILA
I am innocent of this accusations… I will talk to you later…. bye
She hung up and drop the phone back and thanked king…. the drive to the saloon was quiet.
After the Camila finished making her hair, king drove her home straight and went to Jasmine’s school to pick her up.
Jasmine was the few people left in school, Camila’s hair took more time than they expected… she entered her dad’s car and they drove away.
JASMINE
I thought you forgot we had to go see the doctor
KING
I didn’t forget baby, I’m sorry for coming late.
JASMINE
I know Camila is the reason why you came late…… but I’m not angry, I told you, for your sake I will like her, I will accept her, I will accept the fact that I am not the only one who owes you now, I will accept the fact you belong to us now an not just me… so I’m not angry…. how’s ….
She was going to ask about Camila’s health but king shut her up with a warm fatherly hu-g.
JASMINE
what’s the hu-g for?
KING
baby, no body, I mean no one is going to take your place… that I promise you.
JASMINE
dad if I didn’t know Camila to be a good person I wouldn’t give my consent, I will protect you with everything I habe… but I see her, she’s a nice person…. that’s why I’m letting her share you with me.
KING
look at me baby, my promise to you is still valid…. even if this heart refuse to listen to me, I’m going to stress it until it listen to me.
JASMINE
but dad
KING
No but baby…. let’s go see your doctor.
King started his car and drove away, he went to the hospital…. they immediately took Jasmine to the lab and took her blood samples.
she went to wait at the lobby with her father, it took about two hours before all her test results came out… the results were sent to the doctor’s office…. Instead of sending for king, the doctor was the one who came out to meet them… the results shocked him to the cord
KING
doctor, is anything wrong? the look on your face might scare my daughter.
DOCTOR
can you ask your daughter to go wait in the car?
KING
what’s wrong doc? Jasmine go wait for daddy in the car.
Jasmine nodded her head and collected the car keys from her father and went to the car to wait…. immediately she was out of sight the doctor took his seat beside king.
KING
My daughter has gone, what is wrong doctor?
DOCTOR
I can’t believe this, after all the test carried on your daughter there was no trace of asthma, in fact the test came out so clean like someone who has ever been sick Before.
KING
you mean Jasmine came out clean?
DOCTOR
this can only be a miracle king
KING
it’s indeed a miracle…. thank you for your time…. I will be on my way now.
He collected his daughter’s result and left…. the doctor sat there still in shock.
King got to the car, he was too emotional, he couldn’t contend his happiness… he pulled his daughter into a ti-ght hu-g… he was grateful, he was grateful Camila came into their lives.

THE GILBERT RESIDENT
Ever since king had that discussion with his daughter in his car, he tried to surpas-sed his feelings or whatever care he was showing to Camila and focus on his daughter.
He totally changed towards Camila that it was so obvious…. Jasmine was sure in her heart that her father is in love with Camila but is only hiding his feelings because of the promise he made to her that no one would take her place in his heart.
Camila did everything possible to make king talk to her or even tell her what she did wrong but king wouldn’t say anything.
What he had was a boss and worker relationship…. for a week this went on smoothly… camila was hurt, when though she wasn’t surprise that something like that would happen immediately she get well.
King’s driver that travelled for his mother’s burial was back and had resume work, he was the one driving Camila to anywhere she nee-ded to go.
Anna felt sick, she told Camila about it so Camila promised to come visit her that evening after king comes back from work.
She did everything she nee-ded to do and made dinner, she packed it in the microwave and went upstairs to take her bathe…. soon king returned back from work, he was heading upstairs when he met his daughter coming downstairs.
JASMINE
good evening daddy, you came back late today
KING
(He checked the time)
it’s just 6pm baby, did you miss me?
He asked ki-ssing her forehead making her to giggle sweetly in his arms… father and daughter play was still going on when Camila interrupted them.
CAMILA
good evening sir…. how was work today?
KING
evening, work is okay…. baby I’m gping up to freshen up okay?
JASMINE
okay daddy, I’m going downstairs to eat my dinner….i won’t wait for you.
KING
by all means you can ma
He said and turn to leave, Jasmine ran downstairs to eat her food…. Camila quickly stopped him with her voice.
KING
any problem?
CAMILA
I’m sorry to border you sir, but I was hoping since today is Friday, if I could take a few days off to see my sick sister.
KING
you want to take the weekend off and you are just letting me know?
CAMILA
I didn’t have any plans of going anywhere sir, but earlier today I spoke with my sister on the phone and she isn’t feeling to well.
King didn’t say anything, he turn his back and started to head to his room, he stopped half way, he didn’t turn to look at her but he replied her.
KING
I will call the driver to take you.
CAMILA
that won’t be necessary, I can find my way.
KING
I’m not asking for your permission
He said and went to his room, he got to his room and called the driver to take Camila to wherever she was going to but unfortunately for them the driver had already left…. he got a call that his little boy fell into a hear by well that he had to run to the hospital.
King had no choice but to take Camila himself… he took his bathe, came downstairs and ask that Camila serve him his meal… without question she gave him his food and stood there like she always do to wait for him to finish eating.
KING
you can go get your things ready, I will drop you off once I finish eating.
CAMILA
Sir like I said, you don’t have to go throu-ghthat stress, just give me some cash…
KING
go get your stuff ready
He said and ignored what she was saying…. Camila didn’t say another word, she went inside and took a few things and came back to wait for king to finished
King finished eating and went inside to change into something else before he came downstairs and asked Camila to follow him.
KING
what’s your sister’s address?
(he asked immidiately they were inside the car)
Camila brou-ght out her phone and showed him the address Anna sent to her, he read it and opened his Google map…. he set the location and started the ride.
Their ride from the house town to Anna’s place was awkward, king knew Camila could read minds and if he lose guard she will read his mind , so he was careful of his thoughts.
Camila’s phone started to ring so she ignored it, it rang again and she ignored it the second time… when the same call came in the third time she was going to reject it but king spoke
KING
pick your call, it might be important
CAMILA
it’s not an important….
KING
pick your call
(He yelled)
camila was startle, find she knows king is her boss but why is he treating her like a child who doesn’t know from her left to her right?
CAMILA
I’m not going to pick the call.
(she angrily yelled back)
King was shocked, he couldn’t believe Camila just yelled back at him… she’s not the kind to ever disrespect anyone or look down on anyone.
KING
you yelled at me?
CAMILA
please park this car, I’m dropping here.
KING
we haven’t even arrived at your sister’s place yet.
CAMILA
I don’t care, just drop me here, I rather walk to my sister’s house and hurt my foot that stay in the same car with you.
KING
what?
CAMILA
park this car now or I will scream down my voice and people will tag you a kidnapper.
this point king could sense the anger, the pain, the seriousness from her voice so he parked the car… immediately he parked Camila came down from the car and started to walk away, she was so furious that she forgot her bag inside his car.
King was dumbfounded for a while, he has never seen Camila like this, she’s not the kind to get angry like this.
He wanted to leave her there and go back home,but his good will wouldn’t allow him so he came down and ran after her.
KING
Camila wait up….. Camila, I’m talking to you….
Camila started to run so he wouldn’t catch up with her…. king ran fas-ter and grabbed her by the arm
KING
you going to hurt yourself, this is an Express goddamn it.
CAMILA
leave me alone
(she said crying)
KING
why are you so angry? because I’m sure it’s not because I asked you to pick your call that you are feeling this offended.
CAMILA
I owe you no explanation, just leave me alone
She removed her hand from king’s grip and tried to run away again but king held her again.
KING
okay I’m sorry… I was I yelled at you, please get into the car…. it’s late and dangerous… I don’t want anything bad to happen to you?
CAMILA
I’m not entering that car..
KING
why are you angry, you can talk to me
CAMILA
I have nothing to say to you.
king knew they weren’t getting anywhere with the way things were going so he just pulled her closer to his body and hu-gged her to calm down
Camila was stubborn, she didn’t want her anger to go away so she tried so ha-rd to reject his hu-g but king didn’t let go…. he held her strongly untill she relaxed on his body crying.
