Huh?? What’s he talking about? Take me where?
I scoffed and lokked at the building, then back at him.
“Isn’t he….isn’t he home?” I asked, perplexed.
“No. And that’s the reason he asked me to bring you to him. He said…he wants you guys to learn elsewhere”, he replied and I cringed the more.
O…kay. How come I’m not feeling too excited about it? How am I sure its really the prince?
“Don’t worry, I can call him on phone so you confirm”, he said, just said as if he was re-ading my thoughts.
He brou-ght our a phone and dialed a line and when it was received, I indeed heard the prince’s voice.
An
“My prince”, the driver called.
“She’s here but um…she’s feeling unsecured about it. I don’t think she trusts me”.
The call was on speaker. So, I could hear their conversation clearly.
“Okay. Give the phone to her” I heard prince Nathan say and the driver handed the phone to me.
“M…My prince”, i stuttered a bit.
“Danica”, he called calmly.
“plea-se, I’m extremely busy right now and that’s the reason I want him to bring you here. Its just my personal house”.
O…kay. I gulped ha-rd and glanced at the driver.
Personal House???
“Um…okay, my prince. There’s no problem with that” I lied and swallowed ha-rd again.
well,,that was a big lie Because I had a serious project with it. Going to the prince’s personal house?? How will I do that??
“Good”, he mumbled and ended the call and I handed the phone back to the driver.
Oh…geez! This isn’t funny.
“Come on, Miss” the driver urged and got into the driver’s seat. And taking a de-ep breath, I followed.

I kept fiddling with my bag as I sat at the back seat in the moving car. I looked throu-gh the window and imagined what would happen there. Well, it was just practicals. Besides, this was going to b my last day with the prince.
Yes, after today, it’s over.
I kept feeding my eyes in the cool ride and after a long while, we drove towards the gate.

The driver honked and the big gate was opened immediately, giving us pas-sage into the
house.
A wow escaped myl-ips as I stared at the ineffable building in front of me. Hold on…the prince owns this??
My eyes were dilated the whole time as I watched keenly throu-gh the window.
Fge driver drove in and parked in the garage and I was shocked to find about 6 different cars in it.
“You can come out now”, the driver said as he turned off the ignition and opened his own side of the door.
I took in a de-ep breath and opened mine, stepping out of the air – conditioned car.
I froze at first as I st©pped to have a
good look at the house. G©sh! It was so beautiful and clas-sic.
If was a two sto-rey building, painted in white and royal blue, and had crazy designs around it. The floors were neat and german floored. Everywhere sparkled.
The driver started walking into the house and I followed timidly. He opened the door and we walked into the exurbant sitting room. Oh my God!
“Come on” he said and climbe-d the stairs and for a few seconds, I was lost in the beauty of the room before following him behind.
I walked carefully on the stairs so I don’t trip because of how clas-sic it looked.
We climbe-d the long stairs and finally c@m£ out to a hallway. He took me done and st©pped in front of a door.
“My prince,,she’s here” he pas-sed the information and there was silent for a few seconds.
“plea-se,,let her in”, I heard the prince say and the driver opened the door immediately.
He tilted his head for me to go in and gulping nervously, I did.
Wow! A sweet scent welcomed in.
The first thing I noticed was a table containing the lab equipments which were obviously for the experiments. Then,,I saw a table containing different dishes and finally, I saw the prince
Damn! The room was so big.
“Danica!” The prince called as soon as I saw him.
“You’re just in time for lunch. Come on, plea-se” he beamed as he walked over to the table to take a seat.
What?
“Good day, my prince” I did the formals first.
“Yeah,,you’re welcome. plea-se, have a seat” he proposed.
“Uh….I’m sorry, my prince. But I’m not hungry. I…I ate to my fill before coming. Thanks a lot” I lied.
“Oh, Danica. It doesn’t matter. Come on, come on, hurry up so we can quic-kly go to the practicals. I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want to stay out
late today”.
“But….”
“No buts. Come on”.
Oh….cra-p.
I itched my head and thought. Actually, I was hungry. But thinking of eating with the prince, who does that??
“O…Okay, my prince. Thank you”, I bowed and went to take a seat.

I st©pped the car in front of the archaic house and stepped out.
I looked around to confirm the serenity of the environment and being sure, I walked towards the house. The environment fitted the description mum had given to me.
I got to the door and knocked on it – twice – before getting a reply. A young lady opened up.
“Yes?”, she looked surprised seeing me
“My prince!” She suddenly exclaimed and bowed like she was just recognizing me for the first time.
I took a good look at her. Well, mum had told me she had a daughter. And probably, she was the one.
“I’m looking for Mrs Kathryn. Does she live here?” I asked and the lady’s brows arched.
“She’s…She’s my mother”, she answered.
Perfect.
“Is she home?” I asked and she nodded and immediately, my heart beamed.
I found her.

“Is there a problem,, My prince?” The young lady asked, obviously looking perplexed.
“No. But I wish to see your mother, plea-se. Let me in”, I told her and she seemed hesitant a little.
“I’ll….I’ll nee-d to inform her about it, my prince. plea-se, wait here”.
“I’ve got no time to waste” I said bluntly and notified she flin-ched a little.
“O…Okay,,my prince. plea-se, come in” she bowed and opened the door wi-der for me to go in.
I walked in and ran my eyes around,,observing the place. It was a smug little house,,but looked comfy anyway.
“She’s in the room. I’ll go get her, my prince. plea-se, have a seat”, she said politely and walked away,,probably going to get the mum.
I remained standing for a while, looking around and finally, I took a seat. Some footsteps were heard soon and I tuned to see the lady walking in with the older woman. Wow! She looked a bit old and had to use the lady’s support.
“Prince Duri in my house?” She asked as she climbe-d down the stairs to the room.
Duri only looked at her but didn’t say a word.
“My prince…” The older woman called as she got close enough and took a seat in front of him.
“Good evening, Mrs Kathleen” I showed some respect.
“Good evening, my prince. I must say..it’s a great honor to have you here in my house today. Its been years since I last saw you. You were just a kid then” she chuckled lightly.
Her daughter stood behind her.
“How’s your father, the King?” She further asked.
“He’s doing perfectly fine,Mrs Kathleen”.
“Oh! That’s good to hear, my prince. That’s good. Your father’s a great King”. She paused and smiled.
“plea-se, don’t misconstrue me, my prince. I am indeed, very happy to have you here. But in as much as I’m happy, I’m curious as well. What brings you to my place, my prince? This is actually the First time in years a member of the royal family is coming to pay me a visit”. She said and I adjusted properly on my seat.
“Actually Mrs Kathleen”, I cleared my throat a bit.
“We have a lot to talk about.
“I heard you served un-der my father – during the time of the disciples”,,
Her brows arched at that.
“Well..yes. I was actually the one in charge of the children” she confirmed.
Perfect.
“Okay, Mrs Kathleen. I have a few questions to ask about the disciples”. I told her and she hummed and leaned back on her seat.
“Indeed….I can see we have a lot to talk about” she mumbled and turned to her daughter.
“plea-se, Seo, get tge prince and i something to drink”.

Despite the fact I felt so nervous, this was actually the first time I was having a meal as rich as this.
Like…Oh My God! It awesome. Check out the quality, the meats, the wine…These people are damn so lucky, huh? So lucky.
Prince Nathan was multi – tasking the whole time, eating and operating his phone. He’d kept receiving calls non st©p and I wondered if he ever gets time for himself. It was so alarming.
By the time we were done eating, it was almost 4 p.m. and I figured we had to go into the experiments alre-ady.
“Thank you so much, my prince,,for the meal” I told him before standing up.
“Oh. Its nothing. You’re welcome”, his eyes were on his phone as he replied.
Not wanting to rush him,,I went alone to the experimental table and opened my bag on,,bringing out my manual.
Okay…today’s experiment was to be on copper and nitric acid.
I looked at the items on the table to b sure everything nee-ded was pres£nt and..yes. The Prince had really done a great job in providing all the materials.
I brou-ght out my book and pen and drew my table and just then, the prince left the dining and walked towards me.
“Oh…I’ll clear the table. Give me a few….”
“Don’t worry about it. The maids will take care of them”, he held my wrist and prevented me from leaving
Oops.
I bowed and returned to my stand in front of the contest table
“So..what do we have today?” He asked like he completely had no idea
“It’s um…copper and Burton acid, my prince”, I answered.
“Okay. And this should be the last experiment, right?”
“Yes, my prince”,,
Following the instructions in the manual, we set out to work.
I turned in the necessary elements into the conical flask and as I did the re-ading, prince Nathan did the writing. In less than an hour, we were done.
“Is that it?” He asked when I told him we were done.
“Yss, my prince. I um…I’ll just sum up the values now” I replied and took a seat, re-ady to calculate with my book.
That’s calculations took me quite a number of time and I could tell…the prince’s eyes were on me. G©sh!
“Hopefully, My Prince, we should be able to get the same values tomorrow in school during the pres£ntation, because if we don’t, it means everything we did here was a waste of time” I told him as I rounded up the calculations in the book.
“But for now,” I still continued talking.
“We’re done and hopefully, we should emerge winners in school. I just hope the values corresponds”.
I still didn’t hear a thing from him and being being curious, I decided to have a look.
I lifted my eyes and found him staring at me – coldly.
Huh?
His face were expressionless and his eyes glued on me.
“My…My prince?” I called, wondering if there was something wrong.
And finally, he asked:
“Why didn’t you tell me you were the lady I was looking for?”

Danica
I swear, I felt my heart st©p beating as I stared at him. My lungs completely bec@m£ dry.
What’s he….what’s he talking about?
The…the lady he’s looking for??
“M….My prince?” I stuttered nervously, trying as nchh as possible to st©p myl-ips from shaking. My eyes were alre-ady dilating in surprise.
Oh my God! Just tell me I didn’t hear him properly or something.
“Why did you hide it from me all these while, Danica?” He asked again, increasing my anxiety.
I gulped ha-rd .
“You knew i waa looking for you; I was looking for the lady that saved me. Yet, you said nothing. Why?”
My mouth were agaped as conniption gr!pp£dme.
I was obviously shocked.
The prince knows??? He knows I’m the lady he’s been looking for??
But…but how? How possible? How did it happen??
Oh my God! How did he find out?? What do I do??
I was completely gob sma-cked as I lowered my gaze to the table. My hands were shaking so I couldn’t hold my pen anymore.
The prince was silent as well, for a long time.
Then,,he c@m£ close and sat in front of me.
“It was you, right?” He asked calmly, his eyes on my face.
But i couldn’t bring myself to respond.
“I nee-d an answer, Danica. Or am I saying the wrong thing?”
At a point, I thought of lying, lying and denying every single thing. But she felt it was pointless. For him to had said it so openly and boldly, she felt hs had concrete evidence.
So, slowly, she shook her head.
Prince Nathan sighed and leaned back on his chair as he saw that as a confirmation signal. Indeed, she was the one.
He stared into her shy face,,her shy face which looked so cute from it.
“So,,why have you been hiding, then?” He asked, but she was speechless again
If only he knew the gravity of nervousness she was pas-sing throu-gh at the moment.
“Is there a problem? You can talk to me”,, he persisted and I finally decided to find my ton-gue.
“I….I …I was…” I paused and gulped ha-rd .
“I’m sorry, my prince. I was just…scared”,
“Scared?” He scoffed. “scared of what exactly?”
I bit my lower l!pas I felt my heart growing big. It was growing big out of anxiousness.
“I was just….I didn’t want to be expo-sed. I’m sorry”,I bent my head bashfully.
Though, I wasn’t looking at him, I felt him smile.
“You didn’t have to be scared of me, Danica”, he said calmly.
“I had no intentions of hurting you. All I wanted was to see you – nothing more”.
I bit my lower l!pagain. G©sh! I felt so nervous and wished he’d just let me go. I wanted to go home now.
“The day you’d saved me, did you see who the attem-pted murderers were?” He asked and I responded to that quic-kly. I shook my head.
“I was actually on my way to a friend’s place throu-gh the woods. And…I’d found you unconscious, on the floor. That’s the only thing I know, my prince.
“I’d quic-kly rushed back home to get the first aid kit, I treated you with it and when I noticed you were awake, I…..I had to run away”, I explained and he stared at mr with ra-pt attention.
He stared downwards and caras-sed his lower l!pwith his thumb, seeming to be in de-ep thoughts.
“Okay, then”, he said, anyway.
“Thank you”.
For the first time in minutes since we began talking, I lifted my eyes to look at him, feeling relieved.
“You’re welcome, my prince”, I muttered in a tiny voice and lowered my gaze again.
He smiled and stood up.
“Come on, I’ll drop you off at home”. He walked over to a wardrobe in the room and I lifted my eyes to look at him.
Since he was now backing me, I decided to use the opportunity to admire him.
He walked like the Royalty he was, everything on him looking so expensive.
G©sh! What’s wrong with me? This isn’t the first time I’m seeing him, is it?
He opened the wardrobe, took out what he wanted and when he was done, I quic-kly looked away before he’d turn around.
I stood up with my bag, fiddling with the rope and asked he returned from the wardrobe, I started walking towards the door.
I opened it and got out and the prince followed immediately.

Her daughter served the drinks, but I’d only taken a sip from mine.
“Has there been any news on your mother?” She asked as she dropped her glas-s.
A flash of anger ran throu-gh me.
“Not yet”,I growled a reply.
“Oh, dear. I wonder where could she be at the moment. I’m sure she….”
“St©p talking about my mother”, I snapped in, unable to st©p my voice from being harsh.
She nodded in un-derstanding and lifted her glas-s again.
“So, son, what can old Kathleen do for you?” She asked I exhaled sharply.
That was what I c@m£ for.
“Its about the disciples, ma’am”, I began.
“I want to know about them”.
“The disciples” she repeated s-en-sitively.
“All the disciples are dead. None of them can be found alive”.
“None?”,I asked and she looked at me with scrutiny
“Oh….well, one of them had gone missing back then – the 12th disciple”, she told me what I’d been craving to hear.
“The story of that lit go child is a little complicated. What I know is,,her mother had been in jail at the time of her delivery. So…I don’t know what her agreement was with the father of the child, but it seems they’d decided to give up the child to the palace. They brou-ght her to become a disciple and of course, we accepted.
“But when her father was killed, her grandmother had gotten angry and demanded for the re-lease of her grandchild. When we refused, she found a way to smuggle in and steal the child. So, we strongly believe the 12th disciple is with her.
“We’d searched an combe-d the entire city for her during that period, but it seemed she’d gone far away and couldn’t be found. Its been 18 years alre-ady, my prince. We have no idea where could she be” she concluded, enthrailing me the more.
It was more difficult than I thought.
“This grandmother…what’s her name?” I asked and she replied:
“Ha-nuel”.
“Do you…perhaps, have any picture of her?”
“Y….Yes, I think so. During the search, her pictures had been produced. Wait here for me, my prince. I think I’d kept one somewhere….”
She stood up and I watched her climb the stairs.
My eyes followed her until she couldn’t be seen anymore and I waited for a very long time.
“Found it!” I heard her voice and turned to see her climbing down the stairs.
She had a picture in her hand.
“Sorry I took so long, son. Finding the old picture wasn’t an easy one’.
I didn’t pay attention to what she was saying as my eyes were just focused on the rusty picture in her hand.
She got to where I was and handed it to me.
“There – that’s Ha-nuel”, she added.
I collected the picture and stared at it with scrutiny. It was a young woman, a woman who was probably too young to be a grandmother.
Hmm.
Ha-nuel. I guess she’s my target now.

The drive home was very silent as I didn’t say a word to the prince, and he didn’t either. The car’s FM just did the talking.
“Um….you can st©p here, my prince. Thanks a lot”, I told him as we got close to the house.
I couldn’t have him taking me any further.
He st©pped the car and unlocked my door with a bu-tton.
“Thank you, my prince. We’d um…see in school for the final pres£ntations”, I told him but he didn’t say a word and I tried opening my door.
“Here”, he st©pped me and I turned to look at him.
He brou-ght out an envelope from his side and proffered it to me.
“You can use this for your T-fare to school tomorrow”.
Whaaaaat???
My heart jumped into my che-st.
“My…My prince” I stuttered.
“There’s um…no nee-d for that, my prince. I….”
Before I could finish up, he dropped the envelope on my legs.
I gulped nervously and picked it up, fixing it into my bag.
“Thank you, my prince. Thanks a lot’,, I bowed repeatedly.
“Bye”, he muttered slightly and I opened the door and left.
