“Do you think she will wake up…”
“Of course. She will…”
“When? She hasn’t opened her eyes. Its been two days…”

“Her b©dy is weak for now, but she will…”

The murmuring continues, waking me up. I shifted and I felt a sharp pain hit my b©dy. I can finally feel the pain in my b©dy.

I remembered I just had a dream, but not just a dream because that was how I met Linda.

Now, I realized I haven’t seen Linda since that night. I nee-d someone to help me find her.
“Linda.” I whispered slowly, and the murmuring st©pped.
Very fast, I heard the sound of footsteps moved closer.

Very fast, I heard the sound of footsteps moved closer.
The man who should be the doctor appeared first, with a smile on his face.

“How you feeling?” He asked, tou-ching my forehead with the back of his hand.

I tried shifting from my position, but I felt ache all over. I nodded having no idea of what to say.

I wasn’t getting better with the pain I was feeling all over my b©dy and he knows that.
The door opened and a nurse walked in, holding a small tray.

“Miss Juliana.” She smiled and I just shrugged.
Someone who stood behind me walked closer and I could see his view. He stood with hands in his trou-ser pockets looking as if he was waiting for the perfect time to say something.
“You will have to sit straight and take your drugs.” The nurse said, as the doctor nodded helping me up.
I held onto the doctor, gr-unted as he helped me sat straight. The pain was too much to bear.

The nurse poured me some water inside a glas-s and gave me the drugs. I swallowed it and stepped it down with the glas-s of water.
Another nurse walked in holding a tray which a flat plate of food was placed in it.

“You should eat this to get back your strength,” the doctor said.
The nurse that gave me drugs spre-ad a small yellow cloth on my l@ps and placed the tray on it.

“Eat plea-se,” she said.

I didn’t bother to t©uçh the spoon. There was a lot going on in my mind. Who said food was the next thing for me. I felt relieved that Angela had been arrested, but what about Linda. I haven’t heard from her since that night.

It was all my fault she’s in danger. She nee-ds my help wherever she is. I really don’t know how, but Linda has to be saved.

“You don’t even know how to find her Juliana. Do
you know if she’s still alive with how she shouted
on phone for help.”

No, no, no…I sh0t away the thoughts. The thought
of Linda not alive brou-ght a sick feeling to my b©dy.

“Linda, Linda.” I didn’t know how her name sli-pped out of my mouth.
“Miss Juliana,” the doctor called.
“Who is Linda?” The voice c@m£ out impatiently, and I turned to the man who stood for minutes uttering no word.

The nurses’ faces were on me, curious to know what I was thinking but none of them utter a word. Then who is he to ask me in that tone, not putting sorry at first. I believe who Linda is it’s my problem.

“Sorry miss,” he finally said, and brou-ght out an identity card.

“Sorry to bother you miss. I’m a police officer. I was s£nt to ask you some questions.” He pocketed his identity card.
“I was there when Angela Brown and her friend were arrested. From what we’ve gathered, we know her father killed your parents but your Mom survived.

This same man wanted you dead.

Angela had told us your father’s younger brother is the real culprit. We know he’s now in prison, but I’m here for you to shed more light. We nee-d you to make a statement because we nee-d to know those who were involved from the start. And…Willy Brown had been arrested…”

“What!” I managed to choke out.

Willy hasn’t done anything. I know he knew about everything from the start. But he’s done more than enough trying to save me. I know he couldn’t do that for my parents but how my Mom managed to stay alive all these years is what I still can’t answer to.

The one who should pay severely for this is Uncle (George)
I felt accomplished when Mom told me the man was s£nt to prison. I don’t know what to say about Angela’s case. How she turned so cruel took me by surprise. She saved my life many years ago. And I won’t ever forget that. I saw the officer’s mouth moving, but I was lost in my thoughts.
A voice jo-lted me from my thoughts.

“Miss Juliana, anything you want to say,” the officer said.

“Yes.” I blurted out without knowing what his question was.
He raised a brow at me. “You mean he was among those who killed your parents?”

“What!” My mouth sprang open and hit with pain. I remembered Angela gave me a good beating. She’s totally insane.
“You nee-d to say something plea-se.” The officer said loudly, and I saw the doctor looked up at him.

“She’s just regaining back her strength officer. You should take it easy,” the doctor warned.

“Okay. plea-se answer my question, and we’re done for today,” He said.

“Yes, officer your question.”

“I asked if Willy Brown was also involved in your parents death that fateful day?” He repeated.
I sighed. I don’t know if he c@m£ that night, but I know he’s not innocent. Juliana say something…

My mind kept telling me. I don’t know what to say, but I knew that whatever I’m going to say will set him free. I don’t have anything against him anymore because, those who deserve to pay are now paying for their crime.
I looked up at the officer, and his full face registered on me. He was eager to hear my reply.
“Officer…”

“He’s innocent.” A voice interrupted and everyone’s face turned to the direction.
Someone just stood up for him.

My eyes landed on that face that looked just like mine years ago, and a tear pricked down at the corner of my eye.
“Mom.” I said in shaky voice.

Eveyones’ eyes landed on me before they turned it back to her.
The nurse who held her as she walked in, helped her sat on a chair.
She let out a heavy sigh. Turned to the officer as everyone in the room stared at them.
“Officer.That man saved my life.”

I remembered my husband and I were sh0t. I remembered I told Juliana to leave. But whatever
happened next, I can’t say.
My eyes sh0t open, I was in a room, but I have no
idea of where I was. The door opened and a tall
man walked in.
“You’re awake ma?” He asked, walking closer to
me.
He reached for my arm which was plastered with
bandage and I felt a pain sh0t throu-gh my b©dy.
He dropped my arm. “Sorry ma.”
I just nodded and f0rç£d myself up. He tried helping
me but I told him not to. Everything was strange to
me. The room, the man, and how I got there was all
strange to me.
I gave him a confused look and he got the message.
“Someone else did. I was only doing my job,” He
said.
Now curious to know who saved me. All I knew was
Juliana wanted to take me to the hospital, but I
refused. Then how come I made it here.
Seconds later..

“Alex.” A tall familiar man walked in and shook
hands with the man who treated me. He turned to
my direction and I saw his face.

“Wi-”
“I will explain.” He st©pped me.
I stared perplexedly at him. He looked worried and I
could see his eyes pleaded.
“Ma. I arranged how you were brou-ght here. I’m
sorry for the loss of your husband,” He paused.
I quic-kly voiced out my thoughts. “How? Was it
Juliana that asked for your help? And where is
she?”

A look of disappointment flashed in his eyes. He
looked at the other man who nodded telling him to
go on. He looked back at me and something pla-yed
back in my head. I remembered a guy in hooded
jacket that I couldn’t see his face at all. He
distanced himself away from us to a corner and I
didn’t see him again. Though he looked familiar, but I refused to dwell in that.
He cleared his throat to get my attention and I looked up at him. “There is something you nee-d to know. We don’t have much time left but I will explain anyway.”
I really did not get what he was saying, but I wanted
to hear it so, I told him to go on.
” It was my father.” He said trying to tell me
something which I still didn’t get.
I got up, not knowing what he meant. “Your father?
What’s with your father?”
There was silence in the room before he spoke up.

“We c@m£ to your house and it was my father you
saw.”
“What!” I yelled with the pain I was feeling. Now I
get what he was trying to say. “You mean your father killed my husband?”
I moved closer to him. “How dare you say that to
my face! Your father killed my husband!”
He pleaded. “Ma. Don’t raise your voice. You’re not
save either. You nee-d to leave town as soon as
possible.”

“What? What do you mean I nee-d to leave town?” I
shouted. “I’m going to report your father. He killed my husband. And I don’t even know where my daughter is.” I yelled at the t©p of my voice and I
felt tears in my eyes.

“It is better you do as he says ma’am.” The other
guy interrupted. “What you thought of doing won’t
save you from his father. He’s more dangerous than
you think.” He turned away and left the room.
Tears slowly ran down my face. “Why? Why did your
father decided to destroyed my family? We are not
evil. I don’t remember meeting your father neither
my husband. To talk of having anything to do with
him.” I said each word as tears rolled down.

“Why did he do this to my family? Why?” I
demanded.

He looked away from me. “Someone s£nt him,” he
said and brou-ght out a phone as he pla-yed a
recording.

I listened carefully to it and I was stunned at the
voice I heard. “It can’t be true! It can’t be true!” I
told myself.
“Willy pl@ythat again.” I told him impatiently.
I felt more tears rolled down. “George. It was
George. His younger brother. He did this us.”
I shook my head and I really did not know what to
say again.
Life is unbelievable.

People are despicable.
No one can ever be trusted.

“You have to leave now.” He told me.
With tears clinging in my eyes,

I looked up at him. “Why did you do it? Why did you
saved my life? Why?” I asked.

“You should leave now.” Was all he said and handed
a white envelope full of money to me.
“I want to as-sure you that I will find Juliana.” He
promised me.

Mom wiped away the tears clinging in her eyes and continued. “Officer. That recording was the evidence I used against George.” She wept silently. “The only person who should pay for this is George. He destroyed us.” Mom said as more tears ran down her face.

Everyone was silent and exchange looks, sighing heavily at what Mom said.
I couldn’t hold my tears either. I was in tears knowing Willy had done that for my Mom.

The officer didn’t bother saying anything. He shook his head in pity after he save the recording.
He pocketed the phone he was holding and gently left with no more questions to ask.
