THE PACT
-CHAPTER 43-
I am standing in front of the court when a grey ford ranger pu-lls next to my car and a man steps out of it before he walks round to the other side and opens the door, my heart races when I notice the woman that he is helping out of the car- Kristian.
‘’Thank you,’’ she smilingly says after stepping out of the car.
‘’You are always welcome,’’ he responds then he looks up at me and asks, ‘’are you sure you will be fine alone in there?’’
‘’I will be fine, I nee-d to do this alone.’’
‘’If you say so but don’t forget I will be here waiting up for you, call me if nee-d arises.’’
‘’I will remember to do that superman,’’ she laughs.
‘’All the best.’’
‘’Thank you,’’ with that said, Kristian starts walking towards where I am standing.
‘’Hey Lee, how are you?’’
‘’I am fine thanks, how are you?’’
‘’I am fine too.’’
‘’’How is the baby?’’
‘’The baby is fine,’’ she responds before she walks past me and enters the courtroom. Staring at the man she c@m£ with, I frown then I turn and follow Kristian into the courtroom. Today we are appearing before the judge for the hearing of our divorce. It’s been two weeks since the papers were signed and as usual I tried to plead with Kristian but she refused to change her mind. At this point there’s nothing I can do but wait for the judge’s decree. I expected Kristian to be here with her mother or Jada, I am shocked that she is here with that man. Who is he? Is he my replacement? Was she cheating on me with him or did she recently meet him? A number of thoughts run throu-gh my mind till the case commences and we are called to the front.
‘’You are here for a divorce on grounds of adûlt€ry?’’ states the judge.
‘’Yes,’’ Kristy responds.
The judge scans our do¢v-ment before he looks up, ‘’you have been on separation for a month?’’
‘’We have been, yes,’’ Kristy and I say in unison.
‘’Is everything in these do¢v-ments true? You have nothing to add?’’
‘’Yes.’’
He looks at Kristy, ‘’It’s written here that you would like to take back your maiden name of Msizi?’’
‘’I do,’’ she says.
My mouth drops open in shock as I stare at Kristian but she doesn’t spare me a single glance.
‘’With regards to the unborn baby, the mother has been granted sole custody of the child while the father has been awarded with visitation rights. And since the both of you have agreed to be cooperative, the court will not issue you with a visitation schedule instead, you will work out reasonable times and terms that will work best for both you and the child.’’
I sigh heavily, my heart aching at the thought of what is about to happen.
‘’I hereby decree you two divorced, you may go to the clerk’s office and get your divorce decree.’’
And just like that I have become a single man.
Kristian and I silently walk to the clerk’s office after that where he gives each of us some brown envelopes.
‘’Thank you,’’ Kristian whispers. When I look at her, I notice that there is a pained expression in her eyes and I know she is close to crying. She quic-kly walks out of the clerk’s office and I follow her. The minute she steps out, the man she c@m£ with gets out of his car and opens his arms wi-de, Kristian walks into them and bur-sts into tears. He wra-ps his arms around her and she leans her head on his shoulder and cries so ha-rd my heart aches. Burning with Furry, I get into my car and drive off, I can’t handle watching the woman I love being embr@ced by another man. I might end up killing someone.

I have just stepped into the house from the court when my phone rings- from the ring tone I know its mum calling.
‘’Child of mine, how did it go?’’
‘’The divorce was granted mummy.’’
‘’You don’t sound okay.’’
‘’I just feel a bit down.’’
‘’Should I come over?’’
‘’No, I am with Dante, I will be fine mummy.’’
‘’I am really worried about you, Robert too is.’’
‘’I am okay, tell Robert we can have that dinner d@t£ tomorrow.’’
‘’I will.’’
‘’Okay.’’
‘’I love you so much my darling, we shall get throu-gh this together, a day at a time.’’
‘’Thank you, I love you too mummy.’’
Sitting down on the floor, I kick off my shoes and spre-ad my legs open.
‘’Can I get you some tea?’’ Dante asks.
‘’Some water will do, I am exhausted.’’
He walks into the kitchen and emerges later with a glas-s of water which he hands over to me and I take a large sip and swallow.
‘’Thank you so much.’’
‘’What next?’’
‘’I want to take a nap.’’
‘’You want me to be here with you.’’
‘’No, I will be fine.’’
‘’You are sure?’’
‘’Yes.’’
When Dante leaves, I take a bath and instead of taking a nap I decide to log onto Facebook, as usual I have several messages and notifications but I ignore all of them and scroll down to my page so I can make a video.
‘’Hey guys, welcome to my live stream, I know it’s been while, well I was taking a break from social media and now I am back but this time around things are going to be different. So just a quic-k upd@t£ Lee and I finally got divorced,’’ I chuckle waving my hand to the c@m£ra. ‘’Anyway I am not here to talk to about that, I just wanted to let you know that from now onwards, I will use this page only for business purposes and my media team will be in charge of running the page.’’
I end the video by responding to a few questions in the comment box.
‘’I guess it’s time to sleep,’’ Climbing into the be-d, I slid un-der the covers. It doesn’t take long for me to doze off after that. For the next few hours I enjoy my sleep until the ringing of my phone startles me awake.
‘’Hello?’’
‘’Hey Kristian.’’
‘’Daddy P?’’
Daddy P and his wife got back a few days ago.
‘’How are you?’’
‘’I am good and you?’’
‘’I am fine, can you plea-se come over to the house?’’
‘’Right now?’’
‘’Yes, there’s some information I would like to share with you about Lee and the video of him that circulated on Facebook.’’
‘’Okay, I will be on my way.’’
