MILES POV
I listened to Zoe’s thought as I stood at her door.
She can’t destroy the most beautiful things she has achieved in this life. Why would her mother make a vow like that,that’s really so unfair. I thought tiredly.
“Aidan I really have to put some action into what we just said. You can go now” Zoe said to Aidan and I hide behind a pillar far away from her chambers.
Aidan c@mĀ£ out smiling at Zoe.
“Miles” Mason snapped tapping my shoulders from behind and I turned to him swiftly.
“Let’s leave here,I don’t want to hear more” I said seriously and walked out of Zoe’s chambers then head out of the castle.
“Miles what’s going on? Did something happen in Zoe’s chambers,you were obviously eavesdropping to her conversation with Aidan” Mason inquired and I kept mute.
“Now what? Leaving, is that the only solution you can think of. How can you be so heartless” I screamed as my heart began to hurt like crazy.
“What are you saying? Who’s leaving” Mason yelled frustratedly.
“Mason how old is Zoe this year?” I asked in a low tone.
“Oh yeah,in few days time it’ll be Zoe’s birthday. She will be turning 40 years in three days time” Mason uttered with a smile.
“Can I ask you now who’s leaving” He asked again.
“It’s nothing, don’t mind me. I was only pissed that I nearly forgot my Luna’s birthday” I lied with a silly smile.
“Since you bec@mĀ£ the Alpha,it’s been difficult to tell if you’re lying or telling the truth. You got me confused though” He giggled.
“You must really think I’m a fool or do I look stupid to you. Suddenly getting pissed and uttering what I can’t quite get my hands on. Does that look like anything I can ignore. It’s fine if you don’t want to share it with me but you don’t have to lie to me. You got me pissed there” Mason yelled seriously.
“Okay,I’m sorry okay. I really found out what I really don’t want to know and that’s why I’m angry. When I put some thoughts into it, I won’t leave you out of it” I uttered looking away.
Zoe wouldn’t like the idea of me saying this to anyone and I’m pretty sure she won’t tell me either. I thought sadly.
“Mason it’s been long we all hung out together. How about a get together before the invitation gets to all the pack. We should have a time of peace before the matchma-king begins” I suggested.
“Zoe complained of me not being around”
I’m pretty sure she will love the idea if we all come around. I nee-d to give her another opportunity to change her mind set. I thought looking at an empty space.
“I’ve been thinking of suggesting that to you. Nice thinking Miles but it would be better doing that on her birthday” He suggested.
Her birthday might be too long. I nee-d to get closer to her so I can think of a remedy and maybe change her mind set but Zoe is really one determined werewolf. When she sets her mind on something,she doesn’t go back from it. Be it good or evil. I thought confused.
“I think it will be more preferable tomorrow. The matchma-king will begin on her birthday and she sĀ£nt the invitation herself so she won’t let anyone do her job for her” I uttered and he nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, you’re right about that. Zoe is one stubborn werewolf” Mason grinned.
AUTHOR’S POV
Elina and Cora c@mĀ£ back to the castle before even embarking on their journey to the demon region because of the invitation Zoe sĀ£nt to different packs.
“Elina why did we come back? The matchma-king will still go well without us” Cora g@sped frustratedly.
“I can’t let anyone pick an unqualified bride for my brother” Elina uttered seriously as they got to the castle.
“If the Alpha picks a bride for Aidan,do you plan on going against it. You know your father always goes for good things” Cora complimented.
“I can’t always trust my father’s judgement on that” Elina corrected.
“What about Aidan’s? You don’t expect Aidan to be around and still watch you all pick a bride for him. He have the right to pick whoever is going to be his bride” Cora hinted and Elina glared at her.
“Where are you heading” Elina asked seriously.
“Just admit the fact that you will miss out all the fun and your mother’s birthday p@rty. This is the first time Aidan will be celebr@ting a birthday p@rty with we all. And the Luna will be very happy to see you all in her birthday p@rty” Cora emphasized with a silly smile.
“I don’t like the idea that you know me too well. Can you just pretend like you know nothing. It hurts my pride” Elina pouted and ran to Zoe’s chambers.
“You don’t have to pretend to be mean Infront of me. We’ve been together all our lives” Cora tea-sed and went to Mason’s resident.

“Mother…” Elina called out as she went into Zoe’s chambers then gave her a ti-ght hvg.
“Looks like you didn’t succeed in your mission of intruding into the demon territory” Zoe tea-sed.
“We didn’t even get half way when we heard you sĀ£nt matchma-king invitation to the demon pack and we just had to turn back. And mother it’s your birthday in three days time. I’ve never missed out in your birthday and I don’t want this one to be the first” Elina confessed with a smile.
“But mother,you knew all along that Cora and I are heading to thr demon region” Elina asked curiously.
“Do I look like someone who wouldn’t be aware of such little details. I just pretend not to know nothing so I don’t get too involved in your decisions” Zoe said with a smile and Elina ti-ghtĀ£Ć± the hvg.
“Mother I have no idea why I’m feeling this way” Elina uttered in a low tone.
“What are you feeling Elina” Zoe asked concerned as she ca-ressed Elina’s hair.
“I’m having the feeling you will leave me soon and I get really scared whenever a thought like that cross my mind” Elina g@sped and tears escaped Zoe’s eyes.
“Why would you be scared of such a thought? I’ve taught you everything I know and how you can survive alone so even though someday you wake up and I’m not around,you can live independently” Zoe said trying to hold back her tears.
“I still don’t want you to leave. Mother do you know I have a secret I’ve never told anyone not even Cora knows about it” Elina uttered with a smile and her face on Zoe’s che-st.
“Secret? What kind of secret” Zoe asked softly.
“The fact that father’s my mentor” Elina g@sped and Zoe chuckled.
“Of course everyone knows that. That’s no secret” Zoe tea-sed.
“That’s not the secret I’m talking about. Mother I may not visit you often or come around often but I’m de-eply attached to you. I don’t come around because I’m learning to be independent outside your protec-tion but after all my trials I still find myself coming closer to you. Father’s my mentor but mother you’re my life span and reason why I live. I don’t think I will be able to live a second with a thought of you not been around” Elina said softly with a smile and the tears that was threatening to fall from Zoe’s eyes stream down like an ocean.
I’m sorry Elina…. I’m sorry. Why do you have to tell me all this now. My heart is breaking but what can I say. Zoe thought sobbing silently.
“You are the reason why I live as well so don’t think about such ridiculous things. I’m still here with you,I’m not leaving you for anything” Zoe g@sped wiping off her tears.
I will protect you and your brother with everything inside me. I don’t mind sacrificing my life for it. Zoe thought seriously.

CORA POV
I went to father’s resident only to find him dozing off at the window like he was being punished to do so.
“Father” I called out as I ran to him.
“Who’s there” Father shouted looking around and I tapped his shoulders from behind. He turned around and yawned tiredly.
“Father what have you been doing for the past few days? You look exhausted” I complained staring at him as he held my hand for support so he would sit down.
“Thank goodness you’re back Cora. Thinking about the get together really got me exhausted” Father g@sped.
“Huh” I uttered confused.
“What get together father” I asked curiously.
“The Alpha wants a get together reunion. It’s been long we all c@mĀ£ together as a family so he suggested we do it tomorrow” He explained tiredly.
“I also think it’s a good idea father but why are you so stressed about that? Isn’t that what you wanted as well” I asked curiously.
“I will love that to happen as well but for some reasons I don’t want it to happen. Miles isn’t being himself lately and suggesting that out of the blue really feels off” Father uttered looking at me.
“Father I also have no idea what’s going on in the castle but I found this where Elina and I spent the night before coming back” I said in a low tone as I brou-ght out the red leaf petal from my pocket.
“Where did you say you saw this” Father asked seriously.
“I saw it close to Elina when I woke up. I hide it from her so she doesn’t get sad after seeing it. Red leaf petal falling on her only means one thing and that’s she will lose her loved one soon” I muttered sadly.
“Nothing’s adding up. PresĀ£ntly, Polatan is at peace so why would such a tragic event fall on us” Father g@sped confused.
“Father I feel bad for not telling her,I feel like I’ve betrayed her. It’s something she should know about so maybe she can find a solution to it but I hid it from her” I said as my eyes bec@mĀ£ teary.
“You don’t have to feel bad about anything. You were only feeling for your friend. You didn’t want her to feel sad and stĀ©p thinking about such things, nothing is happening to anyone. Everyone’s going to be fine. Come here” Father as-sured as he gave me a comforting hvg then all the cloud of tears in my eyes flow down.
I hope nothing goes wrong. I muttered in my mind worriedly.
NEXT DAY

The get together feast have been set behind the beautiful castle view. Miles p@n-ting around as he tried to put his thoughts together.
“p@n-ting around wouldn’t change anything. You just have to share your thoughts with her” Mason suggested as he walked to Miles and Miles stared at him.
“When did you find out?” Miles asked curiously.
“Yesterday. Cora told me something about it so I concluded it was what you were talking about the other day” Mason added with a smile.
“Cora? Does that mean Elina knows something as well” Miles asked curiously.
“Relax okay. Elina doesn’t know anything. You have to come open so Zoe knows you know what she’s planning” Mason advised.
“That doesn’t sound like a full proof plan but it’s better than staying mute. Let’s get going everyone’s waiting for us” Miles reminded and they head for the feast table.
“Wow it’s more beautiful than I’ve imagined. Who’s beautiful hand work is this” Aidan complimented with a smile as he sat down.
“Of course it’s my handwork. I couldn’t sleep all night as I thought of the best setting for this get together” Elina said with a wi-de smile.
“I’m surprised,Cora didn’t help you with it” Miles ch!pped in and Cora smiled.
“Of course she did, you know she doesn’t like br@gging about her good works” Elina tea-sed.
“Who’s that” Finley asked jovially and Cora hit him.
“Where’s mother” Aidan asked looking around as Melissa joined them.
“This is more beautiful than I’ve thought” Melissa complimented and everyone laughed.
“You sure are my god mother” Aidan laughed.
“Oh mother’s coming” Elina announced and everyone turned to look at Zoe. Zoe walked majestically in her elegant dress, dazzling like a morning sunshine. Miles couldn’t help it but feel like he’s falling for her again.
“Come on Miles, you’re drooling” Mason tea-sed and everyone laughed.
“Wow my mother got that elegant, I must say” Miles complimented with a wi-de smile.
“Looks like I arrived late. Everyone’s here alre-ady” Zoe said softly as she got to the table.
“Why do I kinda feel inferior right now” Melissa said jovially.
“Mother you really got your own ways of complimenting someone” Finley tea-sed and everyone laughed.
“Mother did I miss out something. Is today your birthday or we’re celebr@ting something else? Mother you look so beautiful today” Elina complimented with a wi-de smile.
“Hope I didn’t surprise you all much” Zoe laughed.
“We surprised us” They all said in unison.
“Honestly, Zoe you’re looking gorgeous. Just like Elina asked,are we celebr@ting something else today” Miles tea-sed and everyone laughed.
“It’s really good to see you all laughing like this. I can’t ask for more” Zoe uttered and tears escaped her eyes.
“Mother why are you crying” Aidan cut in swiftly.
“It’s nothing really. Those are tears of joy. Miles thank you so much for this wonderful get together. It’s a memory I never want to p@rt with” Zoe uttered softly and Elina hvgged her.
“Come on Zoe, don’t ruin the mood. You’re sounding very emotional” Melissa protested.
“You’re right about that. Elina it’s fine. I’m okay. Can we begin the feast” Zoe cut in with a smile as she helped Elina sit down.
“Have a seat” Miles offered like a gentleman and everyone grinned at that.
They all had a wonderful get together as Aidan told different kinds of stories and Finley cracked so many jokes. Everyone laughed to their stomach content. Having everyone around laughing and chatting really made Zoe so happy.
I’m so glad you all are happy, I’m so grateful for that. I really can’t express how happy I am. Zoe muttered in her mind as tears roll down her cheeks. NobĀ©dy noticed because everyone’s concentration was on Aidan but Miles noticed.
I’m so sorry. Zoe thought as she couldn’t take it anymore so she stood up and went to the other end of the castle and Miles followed her.
“Zoe we nee-d to talk” Miles requested seriously and Zoe wiped off her tears.
“Miles can we talk about that later. I’m really not in the mood to talk about anything right now. I only c@mĀ£ here because I’m overwhelmed” Zoe muttered out looking away and Miles dragged her by the hand and they went out of the castle.
“Why did you bring me here? Everyone will get worried” Zoe g@sped and Miles looked away with a mean look on his face.
“Don’t worry about that, Mason is aware we left. Zoe what’s the point of looking all elegant and beautiful when you still plan on doing what’s on your head. Why are you so heartless” Miles yelled.
“What do you mean by that” Zoe asked a bit confused.
“When do you plan on telling me what’s happening to your left arm or you thought I didn’t notice” Miles uttered seriously.
“You don’t nee-d to know about everything that’s happening in my life. Yes you’re the Alpha but I still have my own life and issues so it’s nothing you should concern yourself with” Zoe said harshly and Miles grinned.
“Is that what you really take me for? Just the Alpha? Zoe you and I have been together for nineteen freaking years and you’re saying I shouldn’t concern myself with what’s going on with you? Are you been serious or you’re trying to pu-ll some tricks on me. Do you know what really annoys me, it’s your arrogance when you’re determined” Miles shouted.
“You really aren’t trying to pu-ll a fight with me. I’m heading back to the castle. I don’t have time for this” Zoe hissed about to walk away but Miles gr@bbĀ£d her by the w@!st and gave her a ti-ght k!ss.
“What are you doing”Zoe yelled as she pushed Miles away.
“You’re even avoiding me now. Zoe I know you know how to cure this mess. You don’t have to use your life to stĀ©p it. plea-se think of something else” Miles pleaded and Zoe stared at him.
“For how long have you known” Zoe asked in a low tone.
“Three days now” Miles g@sped.
“Miles if you really love Aidan and Elina,you have to let me do this. You have no idea how dangerous and wicked I will turn into. There’s no remedy to this. We just have to accept fate and don’t follow me. I want to be left alone” Zoe warned and walked away.
“Zoe plea-se change your mind” Miles pleaded as tears escaped his eyes. He sat on the ground hopelessly.
“I’m still the Alpha” Miles uttered seriously as he stood up.
