“What attack are you talking about Sonia?”

Madam Koffi asked as Sonia gisted her about everything that happened. They were in the attic.

“Well, I guess he was right, he told me nothing will happen to the mansion but seriously, I heard several gunsh0ts and it was a miracle how we escaped

. Just a pity for the guards that died.”

The older woman was still confused. “Well, I don’t know what you are talking about but I don’t know anything. Eversince ive been working here this place has never been attacked and….”

“Okay wait, since you’ve been working here for some time, is there any chance that when coming from outside you can find your way?”

The woman shook her head. “You just c@m£ from outside, can you find your way back outside alone?”

Sonia sighed.

“No. A jet picked us up and landed somewhere around the fields close by.”

“Exactly, you can’t leave this place or find this place by road, except by air and even if , you must have known the route very well.”

Sonia sighed. She better give up the hope of Ben finding her then.

“So you said you sle-pt on the same be-d?”

“Yea.” Sonia replied as she started recounting all that happened again, the woman couldn’t st©p laughing.

“So why are you feeling bad, you did quite well.”

“ I think I misjudged him and hurt his feelings, and just at the time we were actually on the same page, I ruined it for us both.”

The woman smiled, holding Sonia’s hands.

“Seems you are beginning to like him Sonia….”

With this, Sonia sprang up. “No way Madam Koffi, I am not! I just feel bad for he only tried to help me and I just….”

“You are starting to care about him….” The woman said again.

“No , no, no, you are getting it all wrong , look, I don’t care about him, I care about myself and Ben and my marriage which is less than 1 month now. whatever you are thinking is quite wrong, infact, maybe I should prove it to you.”

The woman chuckled again. “My dear, you don’t nee-d to prove anything to me, are you sure you are trying to prove to me or to yourself….?”

“Well, to you ofcourse, I will make things right between us and then I will….”

“Why don’t you try to k!sshim?”

“What?”

“Yes, k!sshim, since you want to prove it to me that there is no feeling attached, k!sshim and get over it, afterwards, you earn his trust and then you finally find a way to escape this place.”

Sonia sighed. ‘Wow! k!sshim?”

The woman nodded. “Is it a problem? If you don’t k!sshim how will he un-derstand all the signals you ve been s£nding him?”

Sonia was feeling h0t all of a sudden….a simple k!ssshouldn’t be a problem, her friends used to do that to strangers all the time so why was it a problem for her…

“seems you can’t do it…” the woman concluded…

“No, I can, I can, I will, I promise, I just nee-d to find the right time to do it.” Sonia replied, confidently even though she was terrified….well, been a while she last k!$$£d, perhaps she would nee-d some practicing….

“k!ssher? do you think it’s time to do that Sodi?”

“Well, yes boss. You both were all cu-mddled up weren’t you? She asked you to come over, she is clearly interested in you and if you don’t use the opportunity of her guilty conscience now, you might not get to use it again.”

Calvin gave off an exasperated sigh as he listened to the woman on his phone screen.

‘Is it everything okay? You have never been this quiet when it comes to having S-x with a woman regardless of k!ss!ngher.” Sodia asked suspiciously.

“Well, it’s just different this time.” Calvin muttered to himself before putting off the video call.

He sighed until he could sigh no more. Why was he feeling jittery over k!ss!ngjust one simple girl?

Well, that shouldn’t be a problem. He would use her guilt conscience to work it out but first, he felt he nee-ded to do some practicing and he would nee-d a mirror…and a thorogh mouth wash.

IT HAPPENS!

SONIA

Since we got back from the h0tel that morning, we hadn’t seen each other , let alone talk to each other

. Seems like he just vanished somewhere, well, I was pretty occu-pied myself. I had eaten the dinner alone as he was completely out of sight, well, it was good, I wasn’t re-ady to confront him just yet but I sure missed his company and the thought of him still being angry wth me just made me more nervous

I was in my room, I had myl-ips fixed on the cold surface of the hand mirror that Madam Koffi had given me as I kept pushing and squee-zing myl-ips…and then stuck my ton-gue out! Oh dear, that looked like a she-goat trying to eat a cas-sava…it was just bad.

My heart kept racing and I was just nervous all throu-gh the day…still nervous. You know that feeling you have when you are about to defend a debate t©pic for the first time before the entire school and you start forgetting things you have memorized, yea, that was exactly the way I felt

. It was just bad.

I checked the time, it was almost 7 pm, my plan was to go to his study and just check on him to apologise for this morning which I was still finding difficult to erase.

I had told Madam Koffi that the k!sswas not a big deal, if I couldn’t k!sshim tonight, then she would think I chickened out, besides, the sooner the better for me to get out of here on time.

I stood up and walked to the standing mirror. Madam Koffi had given me new clothes to wear for the evening, it was a pair of jean and a blue-crop t©p which n£¢k started far below my n£¢k and just around my che-st…it was perfect for the k!ss!ngoccasion.

I don’t un-derstand this place yet, the clothes seemed to be coming from now where but Madam Koffi said they had brou-ght lots of cloths for me when they c@m£ to settle here. another mystery I nee-ded to solve. Why did he just plan to keep me here , why did he build his life around my imprisonment…?

Anyways, baby step Stonia! One thing at a time! You nee-d to get your $h!ts together!

Just as I decided to leave the room, a light knock sounded on my door.

“Yes, come in.” I replied, thinking it was Madam Koffi but it was one of the guards.

“Boss asked if you could join him in the garden.”

Oh wow! Perfect!

“Sure, plea-se lead the way.”

CALVIN

Again, for the millionth time, I blew some air on my palm and sniffed at it—no mouth odour, anything at all, it smelt like wine and that was good.

I checked the bottle of wine on the table for two which I had arranged for the both of us, I just realized I had drun!kthe wine to almost half of the bottle…

I nee-ded to st©p but I couldn’t…

I was feeling so nervous and my palms were sweaty!

Get a hold of yourself CAIN! A voice said in my head, calling my acronym for the first time in many years! You have la-id with princesses, queens and who-res, a simples girl is no match for just an ordinary k!ss!

That voice had helped me lots of times but this time, it was not working at all as i could feel h0t s-en-sation all over me as I sp©tted her behind the guard.

Oh my God! Did she have to look this beautiful and S-xy! Today of all days! The blue crop-t©p revealed a large portion of her beautiful n£¢k and shoulders, the jean..oh damn! She was curvy, why didn’t I never realize that?

Was the wine ma-king me see different things or was fate pla-ying joke on me?

I nee-ded more drink….

SONIA

This was the first time I would take a stroll around the garden and it was so beautiful, if there was a paradise on earth, this could be it.

There was a circular lawn and a path around it on which we walked. There was a central be-d of shru-bs, rose bush be-ds and other beautifully colored flowers…

When I sp©tted him in the open field, standing in his white leather jackets and blue checkered jean, my heart did a double fli-p!

Why should his hair be this curly and more shiny today of all days and why was he wearing white jacket anyway? They fitted him so much…especially against those curly hair and his redl-ips, wait, seems I never knew that hisl-ips were this red! O fcourse he was a white man, all theirl-ips were always S-xy and k!ssable!

plea-se Sonia! Don’t think about anything that begins with a K-i-s-s else you will just faint!

Oh God! He looked so adorable and so handsome and so…..Ben! Think of Ben Sonia! Each time you think of Ben, everything will be calm….

Okay, here comes the calm…..1, 2,3—God I am not calm!!

As Sonia got to Calvin, it was kind of awkward between the both of them as he pushed pu-ll-ed out the chair for her but the leg of the table got hooked with the leg of chair so he had to pu-ll and push, trying so ha-rd not to embarras-s himself while Sonia tried not to laugh….

Finally, they both settled down…looking around the garden.

“This is so beautiful Calvin…”Sonia began, trying to sound as cool as she could.

“Thanks, I spent a lot of money getting this place.” He replied, pouring her a fruit jui-ce.

“You didn’t come for dinner tonight, were you angry with me still?” Sonia asked, desperate to keep the conversation going.

Calvin smiled. “I was a j£rk as-s, I shouldn’t have made it a big deal like I did.”

She looked surprised, this was getting even more comfortable than she thought, maybe not thinking about the k!sswas helpful afterall…

“I was the j£rk, you know, I shouldn’t have thought such.”

“No, I was, you apologised so many times, I should have let it go.”

Sonia smiled as she lifted the cu-p to herl-ips…this was getting more interesting and she was actually relaxing…as Calvin was.

Calvin chuckled twice.

‘Why? What’s funny?” She asked.

“Well, I just don’t know how we both sle-pt off all cu-mddled up as if we have been a couple for years…”

To this Sonia smiled. “Well, you are right. Who started it though? plea-se don’t say I did.” She pleaded.

Calvin laughed as he leaned back.

. ‘Well, you did, you put your head on my che-st and I as-sumed you were cold …”

“Damn it!” Sonia cried while laughing. “I am a total wreck! I used to sleep walk when I was a kid you know.”

Calvin laughed. “really?”

“Yea, my adopted mother once told me I walked in on her and my adopted father while they were having S-x and I was looking at them. But I didn’t even remember.”

Now, both of them were laughing so ha-rd …

“That was something else Sonia, I swear, so what happened next?”

She shrugged and continued. “I was told they almost fainted when they saw me looking at them but then they realized I was sleep walking so they just took me back to my room. Atleast, thank God I don’t remember their n-kedness, I would have had lots of nightmares!”

Calvin laughed more before taking his drink.

“What about your parents Calvin?” She asked without thinking and she regretted it instantly as his eyes darkened and his adams apple bulged out…

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know….”

“It’s okay.” He said r0ûghly and then managed a smile. “I grew up with my grandfather, both parents died at….” He paused and then continued… “…in an accident.” He lied, his parents had died in a war.

‘Wow, only you?”

He shook his head. ‘No, with my brother.” He replied, he had no reason why he was saying all these to her for the first time. He has never told anyone anything about him, infact, no one has ever gotten so close to ask him such a personal question but with her….right now, there was peace and he actually felt like telling her everything….

“You have a brother?” She asked in bewilderment.

“Sure. Why do you look so surprised?”

“I thought you dropped from the sky or probably hatched!” She blurted out, sticking her ton-gue out at him before standing up while he laughed, standing up to follow her.

“Where are you going?” HE asked as they walked.

“I don’t know, I know there is a lake outside, just thought we could take a stroll, besides, the whole tall about your family was kindda ma-king you all mushy mushy like a we-t puppy, I like it when you are yourself, like the daredevil!”

Calvin was fascinated, surprised and impressed though. He led the way towards the lake while she followed.

“Daredevil?”

“Yea, that’s how I see you, now come on, been a while I did this…”

“Do what?”

He watched as Sonia rushed to the water and di-pped her hands inside to throw some at him….

He ducked to avoid getting we-t…”St©p it! I do not want to get my jacket we-t!”

She kept on laughing and throwing more water at him, he kept on ducking until he ran towards and lifted her up so she wouldn’t be able to do that again….

He had alre-ady done that before he realized what he was doing and while she laughed and was in his arms…she began to realize what she was doing….

Rhythmically, their hearts kept beating together….still in his arms…they both knew this was the chance they were waiting for….perhaps it was the magnetic pu-ll or whatever, but when theirl-ips finally t©uçhed, they both threw all caution to the wind.
