??????????
When I woke up, it was to screaming.

“What the hell is this?” Calvin’s very angry voice boomed throu-gh the room.

The guard who had stayed with me was still here and he had pu-ll-ed the bench from in front of my vanity to the foot of my be-d so that he could lie his head down on the be-d. We both sh0t up as Calvin’s voice practically echoed the room. Calvin ran to the guard, gr-abbing him up by the n£¢k. I ran to them pushing between them. “Calvin, plea-se!” I screamed. “St©p it! Put him down!”

Calvin glared at me with black eyes. “Now you want to protect him?” He screamed at me.

“Nothing is going on here!” I shouted. “He was just slee-ping!”
Calvin put him down and pushed him up against the wall. “What in the hell are you doing in here? How dare you!”

The young guard looked scared to death. “Your Majesty, I swear I only esc-rted her here!” He said shakily.
“Why are you slee-ping in her room then?” He demanded.
“Sir, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to fall asleep. She said she didn’t want to be alone, and asked if I’d stay a while.” He tried to explain quic-kly. “She was so upset, and looked so sad, I just did as she asked.”

Calvin punched the wall beside his head, causing the blue silk to almost fall, then he backed away from him. “Is it true?” he asked me evenly, without looking at me.
“Yes.” I said softly.

Calvin lowered his hands to his sides. “I’m sorry for the overreaction.” He apologized to the guard. “Thank you for being there for her when I should have been.” He said softly.

The guard nodded his head and ducked out of the room.
I felt horrible for getting him in trouble when he was only being kind to me. I felt even more uneasy when I realized I was alone with Calvin. He turned towards me, and I was shocked when I saw the moisture in his eyes. “Rachel…” He whispered my name.
“I’m so sorry.” Seeing him upset made me almost lose my mind, but I held my composure. He c@m£ to me, cu-pping my face in his hands, tilting my head to him. “I don’t know why I acted the way I did yesterday.”
He whispered. “I guess I didn’t want my father to think what the people are saying about me is true, but I’ve decided I don’t care. If loving you makes me weak, then I want to be the weakest man in all of the world, because I do. Love you, I mean.” He smiled with a tear rolling down from his eyes. “I was pushing you away, and I don’t know why, but I’m not doing it anymore. plea-se say you forgive me.” He begged and I nodded my head.

“I’m sorry about the way I just acted too, I just lost my mind a little seeing another man in your room, especially with you looking like this.” He said with an edge to his voice as he looked down at my little purple camisole and little shorts I’d sle-pt in. My b©dy felt h0t everywhere his eyes looked.

I was alre-ady breathing heavily when I reached up around his n£¢k and pu-ll-ed him down to k!ssme, nee-ding the feel of his cooll-ips on mine. He gr@bb£d me around the w@!st, his f!ngersdigging into my flesh as he de-epened the k!ssma-king me arch my b©dy into his.

He r0ûghly spun us around so that my back was pressed into the silk covering the wall and he put both of his hands on the wall on either side of my head, leaning away from me while my f!ngersquic-kly un-bu-ttoned all of the tiny bu-ttons on his white shi-t, then shoved it away from his b©dy, greedily taking in the sight of Calvin without a shi-t. His muscles were defined and glorious and his skin was velvety smooth un-der my t©uçh.

I couldn’t get enough of him. His broad shoulders, his thick biceps, his ti-ght che-st, my mind was everywhere all at once. He gr@bb£d me un-der my arms, lifting me up and I wra-pped my legs around his w@!st while he leaned me back against the wall, his hands seemingly everywhere too. His ton-gue danced with mine and I dug my nails into his back when he bit my l!pgently. He j£rked me away from the wall, carrying me effortlessly over to the be-d, lying me down and then k!ss!ngup my b©dy until he was back to myl-ips. His hands started to slide un-derneath the fabric of my shi-t when my br@in finally kicked back in.

“Wait!” I said breathlessly and he st©pped instantly.

“I’m sorry.” He p@n-ted looking down into my eyes.

I giggled, covering my face with my hands to hide my blus-h. “No, I’m sorry, I’m just not re-ady yet.” I whispered.

He pu-ll-ed my hands away from my face, k!ss!ngme gently. “That’s ok, Rachel.” He smiled down at me. “I want to wait for you.” He smiled. “As long as it takes.” Then he rolled his b©dy off of mine and went to retrieve his shi-t.

I sat up on my elbows, watching him. “Now I didn’t say you had to put that back on.” I joked as I watched him slide his strong arms back into the sleeves and bu-ttoning it back up, leaving the t©p half undone.

He win-ked at me. “Well, you see, I have a surprise for you.” He smiled wickedly. “And I kind of nee-d to be wearing my clothes to take you.” He chuckled. “Although, I’m fine with it if you want to take my clothes back off once we get there…or if you wanted to take off yo-.”

I cut him off by throwing one of my pillows at him. “Um, no!” I laughed.

He threw the pillow back at me and held his hands up in surrender. “Fine.” He chuckled. “You better get up though.” He smiled. “Get dressed and I will be back in an hour to pick you up for our d@t£.”

I hopped off the be-d and skipped up to him, taking his hands in mine. “d@t£?” I repeated then bit myl-ip.

He grinned, showing off his perfect dimples. “Yes, a proper d@t£, for my beautiful girlfriend.” He chuckled leaning in to k!ssme, but I leaned back.

“What are we doing?” I asked excitedly hopping up and down.
He looked down at me in that way that only he can and smiled. “It’s a surprise, but you’re going to love it.” He told me before sneakily stealing another k!ss.

I tried to gr-ab him to k!sshim again, but this time he was the one who slid away. “Save it for later” He win-ked, then turned to the door. “Pedro!” He called and the door swung open.

“Hello, dear.” He smiled at me then did a twirl in his blue suit. “I’m here to help get you re-ady for your d@t£, madam.” He said with a cl@p of his hands.

Behind him Maria and the other girls crept into the room, being careful not to let Calvin see my dress.

“Hello, ladies.” Calvin greeted them, then he turned back to me.
I reached up to hold his face like he does to mine. “You’ve just got everything planned out don’t you?” I smiled.

He grinned back and reached down into his pocket, pu-lling out the tie I’d made for him. “I’ve even planned my own outfit.” He chuckled. “Thank you so much for this, baby.” He smiled. “No one has ever made me something before, and I can’t wait to wear it.”

I stood on my ti-ptoes to k!sshim ha-rd , even if other people are watching. “I’m so excited.” I told him honestly. “Now get out so I can get re-ady!” I said sma-cking him on the shoulder and he backed out of the room.

“You’re going to love it.” Pedro smiled to me. “Now sit your bu-tt down in this chair and let the girls work their magic.”
I did as I was told with a grin from ear to ear.

I let the girls do their thing, curling my hair just right and applying just enough makeup to make my eyes pop, but not so much that I st©pped looking like me. I was practically bouncing in my seat the entire time with excitement. My mind was still turning fli-ps from my time with Calvin earlier today, so thinking of what kind of d@t£ he might have planned for us was really driving me mad.

“Are you re-ady for your dress?” Pedro asked from behind me, and I turned around on the bench to see him holding up an adorable blue floral print dress. I cl@pped my hands in front of me when I saw it. It was knee length, fit snuggly with just enough room to move around comfortably, and the back was scooped, showing my shoulder blades.

“I love it so much.” I told Pedro.

He smiled. “It’s much more you than the other things I usually have made for you, so I had a feeling you would like it.” He said. “Plus, I think you’ll want to feel like yourself tonight.” He told me then win-ked.

His weird behavior made nerves stir de-ep in my belly. “What are you all up to?” I asked and the girls just looked away, while Pedro shrugged his shoulders and handed me a pair a simple tan flats.

I looked at myself and Pedro was right, I do look more like me now. This is something I would have picked on my own.
There was a quic-k knock on the door and my heart went a flutter.

I walked over, pu-lling it open to reveal Calvin standing there, looking completely adorable in the tie I’d made him and his light blue bu-tton down, untucked, over his dark wash blue jeans. “Good evening, beautiful.” He said sweetly, picking up my hand and k!ss!ngit gently. “Are you re-ady to go?”

I had the jitters but I nodded my head anyway. “I am.” I smiled.

“You look gorgeous, as always.” He complimented as he wra-pped my arm around his and led me away from the room.
I sh0t one last nervous glance back at Pedro and the girls and they all waived, Pedro b!owing me a k!ssand looking slightly emotional for him.

Calvin led me to the elevators and up to level 5, squee-zing my hand as we approached the ornate golden doors of the green house. He pu-ll-ed a key from his pocket, unlocking the door and pushed it open wi-de for me.

“Oh my god, Calvin.” I whispered, immediately hit with the familiar smell of flowers. “It’s even more beautiful in person than it was on TV.” I told him as I rushed over to the first row of gorgeous daisies, lightly running my hands over their soft petals.
The room was humid, but the smell was mesmerizing.

Everywhere I turned were row after row of perfect flowers, then I felt Calvin right behind me and I turned around, smiling like a doofus when he pas-sed me a single red rose he’d pu-ll-ed from one of the bushes by the door. “Like I said before, roses are the flower you give to a beautiful woman.” He said as he watched me hold it up to my nose and take in its aroma. “I’m glad you like this,” He said motioning his hands around the room. “But we aren’t staying here.” He grinned mischievously.

“Oh?” I asked, clinging to my flower.

He took my free hand and we weaved throu-gh the rows until we reached the back of the room where there was a metal door with a padlock on it. Calvin dropped my hand just long enough to get the lock off, then his hand was back in mine. The door creaked loudly, and cobwebs fell from the t©p as he shoved it open, revea-ling a metal spiral staircase leading up. “Are you re-ady?” He asked me as he pu-ll-ed me to the stairs.

I couldn’t feel my heart beating anymore, and I didn’t know if I was still breathing or not, but as I stared up the stairs to the hatch in the ceiling, I knew I’d never been more re-ady for anything. I chewed myl-ips nodding my head up and down frantically. Calvin chuckled at my reaction and moved up past me to push the hatch open, then he c@m£ back down so that I could be the first one to go.

Somehow my br@in communicated with my legs, telling them that I nee-ded to walk, and I made my way up the stairs and out into the real world for the first time in over a month. I took a de-ep breath of the crisp fresh air, and I cherished the feel of walking in the damp gras-s.

I somehow felt lighter up here, more open, and…free. The gardens didn’t look like they had in my dreams, but they were spectacular nonetheless. It looked like we were in the center of a maze. Winding dark green shru-bs, boasting hvge white and red blooms of roses that vaguely reminded me of an old cartoon movie I used to watch as a child, surrounded us. As if being outside at all wasn’t amazing enough, I spun around to see tiny twi-nkling Christmas lights woven throu-gh the shru-bs and over our heads like a canopy of lights. Right in the middle of our opening there was a square table with a white table cloth and candles, with two covered plates and a bucket of ice with a bottle of champagne sitting inside of it.

I didn’t even realize I was crying until a breeze ran throu-gh my hair, ma-king it stick to my we-t face. “Calvin.” I whispered and he squee-zed my hand, then let go to hold my face, wiping away my tears with his thumbs.

“You deserve so much more than this.” He said and I shook my head at him.

“No.” I told him. “This is so beyond perfect.” I said with my voice shaking. I was just so happy that my emotions were all over the place.

“Let’s eat, then.” He said k!ss!ngmy head then pu-lling me to the table. He pu-ll-ed out my chair for me and helped me to sit down, then he went to sit across from me. I looked up at him and admired the way the fli-ckering of the candles reflected in his eyes. We both put our hands on t©p of the plate covers and pu-ll-ed them off at the same time. I looked down at my plate and giggled. “I thought we’d have dessert first.” He explained.

“I think that’s the best idea you’ve ever had.” I laughed, scooping up a giant bite of my peach cobbler and ice cream. “Oh my god.” I said as it melted in my mouth. “It’s so freaking good.”

He ru-bbe-d his foot against mine un-der the table while we ate. When the deserts were finished, and we’d both enjoyed a glas-s of the champagne, Calvin cl@pped his hands once and two men dressed in black and wearing white aprons appeared with new plates, clearing the old ones out of the way. My stomach practically cried out in joy when it saw the plate of grilled chicken slathered in some kind of heaven like mushroom sauce, with a side of bright green asparagus.

I ate greedily, finishing every bite in un-der ten minutes. When I finally took a breath and looked up, I caught Calvin staring at me with a somewhat bewildered look on his face. When I raised my eyebrows at him he smiled. “I was just trying to figure out how on earth someone like me, got so lucky as to meet a girl like you.” He said shaking his head.

“You’re just being cheesy now.” I joked, but his face remained serious.

“That might be true, but that’s how I really feel.” He proclaimed. “If there is a god, I am going to start thanking him every single day for s£nding you to me.”
