Chapter 72
( Could it be that you’re with child?)
Ashley was eating cereal and playing a game on her phone when a new notification popped up. Someone sent her a caption of her Douglas in a plane with another woman.
Ashley was surprised to get such an anonymous message. She wondered what the purpose of such a picture. From the angle, it looks like sophie is adjusting Douglas shirt. She even lean into him blocking his sleeping face.
Ashley saw that the woman is a very young girl and she was shaken.
Could Douglas be cheating on her because she is too old. Is his fantasy for his Sister’s friend over?
Someone once said Douglas will only like her for a while.
“He’s probably been fantasising about you since his teens thinking he like you. I’ve seen a lot of boys like that. They claim to like older women meanwhile it is just fantasy”
Ashley sigh.
“Douglas will never cheat on me. He truly likes me”, she kept as-suring herself.
Dorris was in the personal studio Ray set up for her in the mansion when a maid rushed in.
” Young Madam”, the maid called.
Dorris who is playing the piano silently looked up at the maid.
“What is it?”, she asked.
” Miss Preya asked me to inform you that the Madam is here”, the maid said.
“Madam? You wouldn’t mean Mrs Dalton, would you?”, Dorris asked and stop playing the piano.
The house maid nods.
Dorris sigh.
She could only hope she is not here to cause trouble.
She walked out of the studio.
When she got to the living room, she saw Ava.
‘They are surely here to look for my trouble’ Dorris scoffed internally. ‘As if I will allow them to bully me’
” Mother, you are here”, Dorris greeted activating the daughter in law mode.
Mrs Dalton ignore her greeting and continue talking to Ava.
“Miss Ava is here too. Quick, Miss Preya, entertain our guests”, Dorris said activating her hostess mode.
” Who said I’m here to visit you?”, Mrs Dalton asked.
“I’m only here to show my future daughter in law my son’s mansion”, The older woman added.
Dorris widen her eyes.
” Mother, what are you talking about? Could it be that you are pregnant with another son? My God! Wouldn’t Miss Ava be too old for the child then? Well, marrying older women is the trend this days”, Dorris said sarcastically.
Mrs Dalton was so angry.
“You….”, her vein is popping out.
Dorris gave a light smile.
” Miss Ava, what will you like to eat?”, she asked Ava.
Ava did not like the way Dorris is behaving like a hostess but she could only take it in.
“I’m not eating anything”, she said.
” That’s good. We will be able to save on expenses. Will you want me to show you around our house? Mother, you too. I’ve added a lot of touches to the house after I got married to Ray. There are a lot of new things to see”, Dorris said, smiling.
Mrs Dalton fisted her hand into a ball while Ava could only gnash her teeth. She is pushed to the extreme and she is already planning what she will do next in her head.
“You silly cheap entertainer! Ava let’s go. By the time you will visit this place again, you will be my son’s wife.”, the woman said.
Ava for-ced a smile.
“You’re leaving so soon? Aren’t you here to show Miss Ava around? Mother… Mother… Mother!”
Immediately they walked out of the house, Dorris slump on the chair.
She did not think Mrs Dalton is giving up anytime soon. And that woman, Dorris instinct…..
Douglas dialed her number again after work but she did not pick up.
He sent her another text message.
“Babe, why are you not picking my call”
“C’mon, Ashley”
“I’ve I upset you in anyway?”
Douglas was frustrated.
He wanted to go over to her place but he knew it us useless. She will not allow him into the house.
She probably nee-ded time to calm down.
He loosened his tie immediately he got out of the office building. He walked few steps and saw a bar. He entered the place and decided to drink away his frustration.
Sophie followed him into the bar and took a seat far away from him watching him drink. She did not know what the problem is but from his reactions, she could tell that it is relationship problem.
‘It seems that woman is stupid. Just a picture and I’m already seeing results. Tsk, silly women like that shouldn’t keep a man. Only manipulating, pretty women deserve to keep a man’
Sophie was glad to be able to watch him from afar. She shook her head.
“Tsk, can’t believe he is like this for a woman. The lady is not even that pretty”, Sophie muttered to herself.
” It’s fine. All these love will be mine soon”, she said, her eyes twinkling.
She watched him drink himself to a stupor and he suddenly stood up and staggered. He signaled to the bar man and paid is bill. He tried to walk and staggered again.
“So cute”, Sophie muttered.
She walked to the counter and settled her bills. She walked to him and helped him.
” You….”, he drawled.
“Boss”, Sophie called.
She helped him to his car. She took out his key from his che-st pocket and opened the car. She helped him into the pas-senger seat and she took the driver seat.
” Wow, What a nice car.”, she muttered.
She saw that the man is really drunk so she took out her cell phone and took so many pictures of the two of them. There is even a picture where she ki-ssed his cheeks. She even rest on his che-st in one of the picture. After taking several shots. She drove to his house, she got to his house and it is quite stressful but she manage to lead him into the elevator after packing his car in the un-derground garage.
She asked him his floor number and he told her that it is the pent house.
‘Wow, he is richer than what I imagine. How much is the company paying him? He got a nice car and even lives in a penthouse’
She got to the house and asked for his pas-scode but he did not answer her.
She decided to try his birthday but the door did not open.
Louis heard someone meddling with the door so he checked the security camera and saw a woman holding Douglas. He opened the door immediately. Sophie was surprised when the door open
“Hi”, she greeted Louis.
” Hello. Who?”, Louis asked.
Sophie was wondering if they are at the wrong place.
“I’m his father”, Louis said and take Douglas from her.
” Thanks for bringing my son home”
Sophie smiled. She wanted to leave a good impression with Louis.
“It’s fine. He’s someone close to me”, she said.
” Oh. Thanks anyway”, Louis said.
Sophie expected him to invite her in but he did not.
“Get home safely”, he said and close the door.
Sophie was disappointed but she is not giving up any time soon.

(Cute baby)
Sophie was so excited that day. She quickly sent the photo she took that day to Ashley.
“Let that gullible woman feed her eyes with this”, She said happily sending the photos with a caption this time around.
” We’re getting along well”
Ashley visited Dorris at home.
Dorris was very happy that Ashley is visiting her.
“Your house is nice. This is the first time I will be visiting a mansion”, Ashley told her.
Dorris just smiled.
She asked Miss Preya to offer Ashley snacks and refreshments.
” I’m sure you’re here to tell me something. You look dull too. What happened? “, Dorris asked.
Ashley sigh.
” I really wanted to tell you something. I should have call you out but you’re kinda popular now and I know you can’t visit public places. That’s why I decided to come over.”, Ashley explained herself.
The maid brou-ght the snacks and place it before Ashley.
“Don’t stand on ceremony. Spill it”, Dorris told her.
” Dorris, I think Douglas just met a younger girl at work. I really …..”, Ashley sigh.
“Maybe I’m really too old and he is just confused for a while. The girl is young and beautiful. I should just allow him to date her right? After all, I’m his elder sister.”
Dorris is confused.
“Can you be more direct?”, she asked Ashley.
” Someone has been sending me pictures of the two of them. Let me show you”, Ashley said and opened her phone.
She pas-s the phone to Dorris.
Dorris looked at the pictures. She examined it for a while.
“It’s the lady that is sending you the pictures. She even took it herself. I think she is trying to drive a wedge between the two of you. Look at it very well. She took those pictures herself. They are all selfies and this caption explains it all”, Dorris explained to Ashley.
Ashley looked at the pictures again. She had been so muddled headed that she did not notice this.
” You mean all this is a ploy?”, Ashley asked.
“Exactly my point”Dorris said and tapped her hand.
” You have to be on the look out. She is out to snatch your man”,Dorris explained.
Harry was busy mas-saging Harley shoulders when his phone rang.
Harley pas-sed the phone to him.
“How far, brother in law?”, he greeted.
” What?”, he stop mas-saging Harley shoulders.
“My sister gave birth?”, he asked again to be sure.
“My goodness. This us too good a news. I will head over now”, he said.
” Harriet gave birth?”, Harley asked immediately he dropped the call.
“Yes. I can’t believe my sister is now a mom”, he said.
” I’m sorry. I have to head over now”, he said.
Harley nodded. Then she asked.
“Can I come along?”, she asked.
” Why not? I will be more than glad to have you with me”, Harry said.
“Let me get change then”, she said and rushed into the room.
” Is it okay if I visit?”, Dorris asked Ray.
“What is wrong? After all, you’re the young madam of the family now. We are visiting on behalf of the family. We will br@nched by the Mall and get some gift for the baby”, Ray told her.
Dorris nodded.
She took a de-ep breathe and entered the car.
They bought some gift at the mall. The mother and child left the hospital yesterday and are at the father’s house.
They entered the house and met few people around.
Edmund welcome them into the house.
” Mr and Mrs Dalton are here”, Harry joked and walked to them.
Harriet smiled when she saw them.
“Ray, Dorris”, she called.
” Congratulations”, Dorris said and gave her the presents they bought.
Then she saw the baby in the cot.
“My God, the baby is so cute”, Dorris said.
The baby is a girl and she had beautiful features just like her mum. Dorris loved how cute the baby is.
” Have you thought of a name for her?”, she asked.
Harriet smiled.
“Yes. Isabelle”, Harriet replied.
” Isn’t my niece so cute?”, Harry asked Ray.
“She is”, Ray replied.
” I would love to have a baby as cute as she is too.”, He added and Dorris blus-hed.
What is he saying?
Harry turned to Dorris.
“You heard that, sis in law. We want a cute baby soon. You guys better work ha-rd”, he teased.
Dorris turned pink.
How can he tease her like this. The funniest thing is that she is also imagining herself ki-ssing a cute kid too.
” I love isabelle. I wished she is my goddaughter”, Dorris said on their way home.
“What did you nee-d Isabelle for? We can just have our own baby and you wouldn’t nee-d a god daughter”, Ray told her.
Dorris blus-hed.
” You really want a baby?”, she asked him.
“Of course. In as much as the baby is ours. I will love the baby regardless of the gender”, he told her.
” so do you want a boy or a girl?”, Dorris asked him.
“Does this mean you’re agreeing to carry our child?”, he asked her.
Dorris nodded shyly.
” After seeing Isabelle, I really felt like having my own baby too”, Dorris told him.
Ray stopped the car by the road side.
He leaned into her and ki-ssed her.
“Babe, you will not regret this decision. I promise you”, he told her.
“Thanks so much. I really can’t wait to see you carrying our child. Let’s work ha-rder from now on okay. Don’t forget to be more pro active in the bedroom.”, he told her.
Dorris rolled her eyes.
” I really hope my baby will be soooo cute”, Dorris said.
“Don’t worry. I’m sure the baby will be cute. After all, my wife has good genes”, Ray comforted.
” Murray, you still haven’t answer my question. A girl or a boy?”, She asked him.
The man started the car again.
Then he answered.
“It doesn’t matter. In as much as it is a fruit from our love. I don’t mind”,
Dorris bit her li-ps and blus-hed.
” So fli-rty”, She muttered.
Ray just smiled and accelerated.
