Chapter 70
( The lady boss)
Sophie and Douglas parted at the airport. Sophie made a call immediately she entered the cab.
“I nee-d information about someone”, She told the person on the other side of the phone.
After the call, she opened her phone gallery and she smiled when she saw the pictures of Douglas she took without him knowing. The one she liked the most is the one she took when he was sleeping in the plane.
” So handsome and cool. Will I really give up on you just like that? Having a girlfriend doesn’t mean other women are not allowed to like you. Who knows, you can break up anytime. Giving up is not in my dictionary. I will rather buckle up”
Sophie mind is made up.
Harriet is so bored at home so she decided to give Edmund a surprise visit. She dressed in a simple style designed for pregnant women. She got to the office building and took the elevator straight to Edmund’s office.
The elevator opened and Harriet came out of it. This floor is exclusively for the CEO and the Vice. The other people who are on this floor are secretaries and as-sistants that work closely with the boss.
None of the workers paid attention to Harriet. They are busy doing their own things. Harriet face darkened_not because no one is paying attention to her but because…..
She was about to enter Edmund’s office when a lady walked to her.
“Excuse me, you can not just go in like that”, the lady said.
Harriet sized her up. Not bad, she had guts to stop her from entering her husband office.
” Who are you?”, Harriet asked her.
“Ma’am, I should be asking you that”, the lady said.
By now all the other workers are now paying attention.
” I’m the Personal as-sistant of our Boss. So who are you?”, The lady asked.
“I’m his wife”, Harriet answered casually.
The workers started discussing.
” so this is the lady boss”
“Not bad. She is elegant”
“What do you expect? She must be from a rich family herself”
“She is even pregnant. Well, I must say she is lucky to marry our boss”
“She had a pretty face but that doesn’t stop a man from cheating especially now that she is pregnant”
“Do you think the boss is like that? If he is, he would have dated most of us here always trying to get his attention”
“Wow, Sas-sy Riley is in trouble. She just spoke like that to the lady boss”
“Will the lady boss find out that as-sistant Riley is hitting on her man?”
“The lady boss look like someone who will not take any nonsense. Do you think Riley is in trouble?”,
Riley on the other hand seems rather calm.
‘So what if she is the lady boss? It doesn’t mean there are no chances for others’
“Ma’am, I have to confirm from the Boss if you can enter. This is a place of work after all. We can’t disrupt a formal setting for personal reasons”, Riley said trying to tell Harriet that she is the PA here. She has more dominance in the company.
Then she adjust her dress before entering the office. She even used a li-pstick while Harriet is watching.
She has guts.
Riley entered the office.
“What is it?”, Edmund asked her.
” I wanted to submit this file. The dinner with Mr Collins is tomorrow. Will you nee-d my company so that I will prepare for it?”, She asked him.
“Of course. You will have some things you will as-sist me with. Prepare the contract too”, Edmund replied.
Riley smiled.
” Okay sir”, and she turned to leave. Then she paused.
“I almost forgot, a woman is waiting outside. She claimed she is your wife”, Riley told him.
” My wife?”, Edmund asked.
“Yes,she is pregnant”, Riley said.
” Yes, she is my wife”, Edmund said and stood up. He walked pas-s Riley and walk out of the office.
“Babe”, he called when he saw Harriet waiting.
Harriet smiled and wave.
He walked towards her and pull her into a hu-g.
” I’ve you been waiting for long? I didn’t know you’re here. My as-sistant just told me.”, he told her.
“I wanted to surprise you”, she told him.
” Come on”, he told, leading her to his office.
“Wait”, Harriet said.
” Fire her”, Harriet added.
Edmund raise his brow.
The workers around held their breathe.
Riley is in trouble!
“Fire your as-sistant now”, Harriet repeated.
Edmund turned to Riley.
” Go to the HR and settle things with them. You’re fired”, Edmund told her.
Riley could not believe her ears. Just like that? She can’t believe it will only take a word from a woman and she will be sacked.
“I can’t stand a Rival working closely with my husband”, Harriet said and walked into the office with Edmund.
” so cool”
“Wow, I can’t believe the boss listened to his wife just like that without asking for reasons”.
” God when? When will I meet my own missing rib”
“I’m jealous. How can they feed is dog food like this”
“Flaunting their love looks like dog food but it is a certain someone that allowed us to witness this”
“Riley deserves that. She got guts. She is even putting on li-pstick while the lady boss is watching. ”
“If it were me, I wouldn’t spare such a shameless woman too”
“Finally, Riley can stop being a pain in the ne-ck”
“The lady boss just got rid if one of the potential candidate of being her husband mistress”
Riley stood still. She felt really insulted.
Had she overdone it?
Meanwhile immediately the envious couple entered the office, Harriet turned to a crybaby instantly. She started crying and hitting her husband.
“Will you really cheat on me because I’m pregnant? When I got here, the first thing I notice is your workers dressing. Why are they dressed luke that? Don’t tell me they are all out to se-duce you? That PA was even adjusting her short dress and even putting on a crimson red li-pstick in my presence. I’m I really no more pretty to you? Is it because I’m pregnant?
Edmund really doesn’t know what to say. He can’t believe she is shedding tears because of this.

(Do you mind changing boyfriend?)
Dorris was excited as she waited for Ashley and Douglas that evening with Ray. The two couples are going on a what Dorris called double dating. They’ve decided to see a movie together and go camping on a weekend.
“Happy?”, Ray asked the girl.
Dorris smiled and nod.
” I’ve always wanted to do this”, She said. “I mean Ashley and I decided to go double dating when we get ourself a boyfriend. Seriously, I still don’t like her choice of boyfriend. Why does it have to be my younger brother? They are better guys out there. Ashley is usually picky. She will only date mature guys. I wonder what attra-cts her to a punk like Douglas”, Dorris said and rolled her eyes.
Ray smiled when he saw the way she’s pouting her mouth.
‘Wife, Douglas is your biological brother okay. He will get mad if he know that you’re against his relationship with your friend’, he wanted to tell her but he won’t.
” The punk is really immature. I agree with you”, he said.
Because Ray is on her side, She smiled.
“Right? Ashley is too good for him”, She said.
Ray pat her head.
” hmm. Maybe”, he muttered.
Douglas new car stopped in front if them. The couples came out.
“We are sorry for keeping you waiting”, Ashley said immediately she got out of the car.
They should have been here earlier but was delayed when Douglas came to pick her up. She had to reapply her li-pstick several times because he won’t stop ki-ssing her. That hot blooded young man.
Dorris hu-gged her.
” Ash, do you mind a change of boyfriend?”, she asked.
Douglas became alert. He immediately drew Ashley away from Dorris.
“Sis, what are you talking about?”, he asked her.
He could not believe she is asking his girlfriend to change boyfriend in his presence.
“Hey, I’m talking to my friend here!”, Dorris told him.
She turned to Ashley.
” What do you think?”, She asked.
Ashley smile.
“C’mon, Dorris. Even if I want to, I can’t. My heart is stolen already.”, Ashley joked. Her joke made Douglas very happy and relieved. He hu-gged her ti-ght.
” Yes. Her heart is with me. I’m never giving it back”, he said.
Dorris watched them and pretend to shiver.
“So cheesy. I’m getting goose bump”, she said.
Ray who is watching them suddenly drew her in his arms.
“Wife, you don’t nee-d to watch other people flaunting their love. I’m available anytime.”, he told her.
He manage to emphasize the fact that they are married with his statement and Douglas and Ashley cringed.
” Which Cinema are we going?”,Douglas asked.
“Let’s be on our way”, he added.
Toby was visibly tired. The company had given him a new apartment and he even have his own van. He was still pondering on what he should order for dinner when his door bell rang.
He wondered who would be looking for him at that time.
He checked the security camera and was surprised to see Vicky smiling face.
Seeing her now, he realized how much he missed her. He’s been so busy that he didn’t even have much time for himself. Vickey band is now the agency main band and she is doing good too.
He opened the door and she hu-gged him immediately she entered. That’s after putting down the things in her hand.
” I missed you, Toby”, she told him
“I missed you more”, Toby said.
” Liar”, the girl told him. She wrapped her hands around his wai-st and look at his face.
“You don’t look like you missed me”, She said.
Toby smiled and ki-ssed her fore head.
” I’ve been busy. Forgive me, babe”, he told her.
Vickey pouted.
“Have you eaten? I brou-ght dinner”, she told him.
Toby shook his head.
Vickey bend down to carry the bags she brou-ght along and made her way further into the house.
” Let’s eat then”, she said.
Toby followed her.
“Babe, can you visit me like this everyday?”, he asked.
” We have to meet at random places. If we keep meeting here, a reporter might get suspicious. Who knows if your fans are stalkers. I can’t risk people finding out about us”, Vickey said, staring the pros and cons.
Toby just nod his head.
“Babe, don’t worry. Just give me sometime to be stable in the industry. Then we won’t have to worry about anything”, he as-sured her.
Vickey smiled.
” I un-derstand how the industry works okay. While you are busy with work, I will put in more effort to boost the popularity of the band.”, Vickey told him.
Toby smiled.
“Good”, he said.
” Now, Can we eat?”, he asked her.
“Yes… Oh! I’ve you seen Dorris?”, she asked.
” I’ve not seen her for weeks.”, Toby said.
Vickey sigh.
“I missed her and I want to congratulate her. She rarely come to the agency”, Vickey said.
“I will call her and ask her out for dinner. Join us. I will invite Bro Guy too so that it won’t be too suspicious”, Toby told Vickey.
Vickey smiled.
” That’s nice “, she said.
