🥀Episode 15🥀

💙CLEONA💙
I woke up feeling quite rested and re-ady to start the day. In fact, I doubt I’d ever felt like this since that night with ra-phael….
I shook my head and tried getting out when I suddenly realized something.
I suddenly realized that I wasn’t in my room and the soft but ha-rd ‘pillow’ I’d woken up on was actually Andre.
“What the heck am I doing in Andre’s room? I thought I sle-pt in my room.” I muttered to myself still staring at Andre’s slee-ping figure.
Gosh! He looked so h0t!
“Geez! Cut it out Cleo.” I said to myself again, wiping my face with my hand.
I opened my eyes to find Andre staring directly at me with unblinking eyes.
“Good morning Cleona.” He said sleepily.
There was a way he said “Cleona” that made the name seem so unique and special.
“God, what is going on with me?” I thought to myself, still staring at him.
“You know it’s rude to stare.”
“Yeah whatever you say… Good morning.” I stuttered, the events of yesterday rushing throu-gh my mind.
“Are you doing okay now?”
“Okay? What do you mean?”
“I mean that you looked pretty shaken up yesterday. Are you okay now?”

Normally, I would been offended or concluded he was trying to make fun of me but one look at his face told me otherwise.
“Yeah yeah. I’m okay.” I replied nervously.
“That sounds nice. You do look pale though. You think we should skip work today?” He asked cu-pping my cheeks, an action that warmed my insides and darkened my cheeks.
“No. Of course not.” I answered hoarsely.
“I mean no. No. We’re probably behind schedule alre-ady. We can’t afford to waste anymore time.” I answered, this time with a clearer voice.
“Okay. If you say so. I’ll go get re-ady then.” He said getting out of be-d.
I followed suite and made to leave the door when he st©pped me and said “I really enjoyed last night though. You were quite a blessing. I doubt I would have ever sle-pt without you.”
I froze almost immediately, the words bringing back a memory of a similar situation in which those words had been said.
“Cleo, are you okay?” Andre’s voice boomed bringing me out of my reverie.
“Yeah yeah. I’m okay.” I replied shaking my head before closing the door and walking towards my room.
***
I found myself constantly zoning off throu-ghout the day. I kept having flashes of the past, memories that I thought I’d forgotten kept rushing back cutting my wounds even dee-per.
I don’t know why but last night seemed to have given me a bad case of deja vu. I couldn’t st©p seeing ra-phael and Ian anytime I closed my eyes.
“I guess today is just not my day.” I thought with a sigh as Andre called my attention for umpteenth time that day.
“Cleo, what’s wrong? You’ve been zoning out on me since we got here. Are you doing okay? Do you nee-d to rest or see a doctor?” He asked, concern in his tone.
I smiled. He seemed really concerned about me but I knew it was only because of the bet. I wish it wasn’t though.
“No nee-d to do that Andre. I’m fine.”
“You don’t look like it.”
“Seriously I’m fine. I’m serious Andre.”
“But…”
“I said I’m fine Andre! You don’t nee-d to pretend that you care when you and I know you’re only doing this so that you can win the bet!” I bur-st out angrily.
He stared at me without saying a word for a while before turning his attention back to the forms he was signing.
I sighed softly and looked away as well. A few minutes later, he stood abruptly and left the room still without saying a word to me. He appeared a while later and gr@bb£d his jacket from the chair he’d been sitting on.
“The manager at the site wants us to check out something over there.”
“Okay. You can go then. I’ll finish up things over here.”
“No. He wants the both of us to come. He says it’s very important and it requires your opinion as well.”
“Really?”
“Yes really. I’m waiting in the car.” He said and left the room before I could say anything else.
I sighed, gr@bb£d my jacket and made my way out of the office. I exited the building and made my way to Andre’s car.
“You re-ady?” He asked once I got in.
I nodded and buckled in just as he started the car and zoomed off.
The ride was mostly quiet and I was content staying quiet until Andre missed a turn that led to the building site.
“Uh Andre?” I called.
“What?”
“We just missed a turn that led to the site. Didn’t you say that was where we were going?”
“It is. I’m taking a shortcut.”
“Okay then…. So about my outbur-st before in the office?”
“Oh that! You don’t nee-d worry Cleo. I shouldn’t have meddled.”
“No, it’s not that. It’s just…”
“It’s okay Cleo. I get it.”
“No you don’t…”
“I do Cleo. It’s okay. You don’t have to worry your pretty little head.”
“Oh okay.” I muttered before leaning back into my seat.
The drive continued but I saw no sign that we were getting closer to the site.
“Uh Andre, are you sure this is a shortcut? I’m pretty sure we would have been there by now if we just took the other route?”
“Just trust me Cleo.”
“Okay.” I answered with a sigh.
All of a sudden, Andre suddenly st©pped the car and pu-ll-ed up beside a tree.
“Andre?” I called when he got out of the car and opened my door.
“Come on Cleo. Trust me.” He said extending a hand towards me.
I stared at the hand and then at him before slowly placing my hand in his. He helped me out of the car and locked the door before handing me a blindfold.
“Andre? I thought you said this was about the h0tel?”
“Okay okay. I might have lied a bit right there.”
I frowned.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I promise I’ll make it up to you though. Blindfold plea-se.”
“This had better be good.” I muttered glaring at him before sli-pping on the blindfold.
He gr@bb£d my hand and began leading me to an unknown place. Normally I hated surprises but something made me want to find out what this one was all about.
We kept walking and walking until Andre suddenly st©pped, causing me to st©p as well. I felt him slowly untie the blindfold before removing it from my eyes.
I blinked several times before my vision cleared and I was finally able to see the sight in front of me.
“Wow!” I exclaimed, my eyes wi-dening in surprise.
There was an elegant picnic lunch in front of me set out on a peach coloured blanket. We were also on some kind of island with a waterfall close back.
“Andre, this is beautiful.” I said looking at him smiling until something suddenly hit me and my smile disappeared.
“What’s wrong?” Andre asked, brushing a few strands of hair away from my face.
I sighed and said “But none of this is real, is it?”
“Real? What do you mean?”
“I mean, you’re only doing all this so you can win the bet right?… You don’t nee-d to answer because I know the truth.” I said with a sniffle.
He didn’t answer so I took it as a yes and turned to leave only for him to draw me back.
“Oh Cleo!” He said softly, c@r£ss!ngmy face. “I didn’t do this because of any of that. I did it for you. You looked so worn and stressed out this morning so I decided to do something for you… For today, let’s just do something together and forget about the bet…just for today. Today, let’s just focus on you and I. How about that?”
I smiled. “Yes. I’d like that very much.”
He nodded and k!$$£d my forehead before leading me to the picnic blanket.
This should be interesting……….
