“seriously? am so hungry that I might die before he wakes up”

Ninon barged into Melvin’s office and slammed the door ha-rd behind her.
“Seriously Ninon? Leave my door out if whatever is between us. My door is innocent” Melvin stated
Ninon scoffed “we nee-d to talk”
“Go on, am listening”
“I’ve decided to call off the wedding”
Melvin chuckled “Congrats” he cl@pped “but you shouldn’t be telling me personally, you should be telling it to the whole world”
“we have to settle things first”
“sit” Melvin gestured and Ninon sat on the chair opposite him “am listening”
“it’s about the pregnancy”
“what about the pregnancy?”
“I can’t keep the baby without a father”
Melvin laughed “then look for a father”
“what do you mean?”
“Am busy now” Melvin said
“then tell me what to do with the baby”
“Listen, am not re-ady to be a father yet”
Ninon scoffed and blinked ra-pidly to suppress her tears “Then let me marry Kyle”
“You can’t make him the father”
“Then let me ab-ort it”
“Am not st©pping you as long as you call off the wedding”
Ninon felt a weight in her che-st. Her breathing ceased and her vision got blur. She held the sides of the chair to keep balance but she lost balance and fell.
“You have to get a hold of yourself” Melvin said not ma-king an attempt to help her up “you can keep the baby if you want but am not re-ady to be a father”
Ninon nodded and got up “Alright!” she wiped her tears “am going on with the wedding” she stated and walked out.
Melvin watched her walk out of his office and shut the door. He felt guilty but he couldn’t change his mind. He wasn’t re-ady to be a father and he was never going to be re-ady. But still, he didn’t want her to ab-ort the baby yet he wasn’t willing to take responsibility.
Kyle knocked on Melvin’s door and walked in immediately without waiting for a reply.
“where is the n£¢klace?” Kyle asked immediately he walked in
“Calm down. I told I found Lovane alre-ady. The n£¢klace is safe”
“Then why haven’t you returned it?”
Melvin took in a de-ep breath “you have to apologize”
“Apologise?”
“Yes. You said you didn’t nee-d the n£¢klace and didn’t even care about it’s owner”
“That I want it back doesn’t mean that I care. I just want to keep it safe till she comes for it”
Melvin laughed “you don’t nee-d anything that would remind you of her. Remember, you’re going to be a married man in five days, you wouldn’t want your wife to find out you’re in possession of what belongs to another woman”
“more reason why I should keep it” Kyle said and took a seat
“you don’t have to worry. it’s safe with me”
“Melvin give it back”
“Not until you admit you still care about Océane”
“What difference does it make if I still care? She doesn’t”
“She does and you know it”
“I know nothing. Océane left and I just want to be sure the n£¢klace is safe”
“cause it reminds you of her?”

“you and I know Océane didn’t just leave. Your mother was behind it”
“Then she should’ve told me if she didn’t have the intentions of leaving. It wouldn’t cost her anything to tell me mother was troubling her”
“I admit she was wrong in keeping it from you but think about it this way– your mother might’ve blackmailed her and the poor girl didn’t have a choice but to leave”
Kyle shut his eyes for a moment “what are you trying to say?”
“Ninon is going to call off the wedding and when she does, I want you to marry Océane and never let her go again”
“where am I going to see her?”
“am going to find her, that’s for sure”
“what makes you think Ninon would call off the wedding?”
“just watch and see”
“you’ve got five days to convince her”
“I don’t nee-d to convince her. She’ll call off the wedding even if it’s on the eleventh hour”
“what about Océane?”
Melvin sm-irked “so you care now?”
“Don’t take it the wrong way I…. ” Kyle trailed off “Whatever! You’re the only hope I’ve got now”
“How’s Maeva coping?”
“Horribly! She sees Océane everywhere and she screams her name even in her sleep”
Melvin smiled “Océane has a big effect on everyone”
“you can say so” Kyle shrugged then asked “What about the n£¢klace?”
“Uh! Forget about that”
“Melvin?!”
“Am serious”

Manon parked her car by the road side and alighted wearing black goggles for disguise. She walked hurriedly into a pharmacy.
“Good day Ms lovetta” The pharmacist greeted and walked Manon out to a corner “what took you so long?” he asked Manon in a whisper
“I had to pick up a disguise. If Ninon finds out I c@m£ to a pharmacy she’s going to suspect it has to do with her pregnancy”
“Alright. I kept the drugs”
“where is it?”
The pharmacist walked out and returned almost immediately with a nylon.
“is this going to walk?” Manon asked as she took the nylon
“you can count on it”
“Thank you” Manon rushed out with the nylon and hurried to her car. She tossed the nylon on the pas-s£nger seat and drove off.

LATER IN THE NIGHT….
Manon made a glas-s of milk and added a teaspoon of the drug she got at the pharmacy to it. She stirred it properly till the drug wasn’t visible in the milk.
“Am sorry Ninon but this is for the best”
She placed the glas-s on a tray and walked out.
Manon walked to Ninon’s room and knocked on the door.
“Come in” Ninon said from within
Manon tried the door knob and the door opened and she walked in. Ninon was sitting on the be-d cross-legged surfing throu-gh her l@pt©p.
“I made you milk” Manon said walking to the be-d
“am fine madre! You shouldn’t have bothered”
“But I did alre-ady” Manon faked a smile and proffered the tray to Ninon
“Thanks” Ninon took the glas-s and kept in the headboard
“drink it now” Manon urged
“I’ll drink it when am about to go to be-d”
“No. You have to take it now, it’s healthy for the baby”
Ninon scoffed “when did you start caring about the baby?”
Manon sat on the be-d “I’ve come to un-derstand you now Ninon, killing your own child isn’t really easy and I’ve decided to stand by you even if you decide to call off the wedding and won’t tell me who the father is”
“Thanks for your un-derstanding”
Manon squee-zed her hand gently then took the glas-s of milk from the headboard “drink this now”
Ninon smiled and accepted the milk as she gulped it down.
“I’ll be in my room. Call me if you nee-d anything” Manon said and hurried out with the empty glas-s.
Ninon closed her l@pt©p and fell on the be-d. She ru-bbe-d her flat stomach and imagined it getting round. If only Melvin had accepted the responsibility, then she would’ve been happy keeping it.
Minutes later, Ninon was gradually drifting off to sleep when she felt a pain in her stomach. She ignored it and tried slee-ping but the pain increa-sed. It felt like her stomach was going to bur-st any minute. She rushed into the bathroom and rushed to the toilet cause she felt something coming out from her.
“My baby” she g@sped at the sight of the blood
“Madre!” Ninon screamed in tears. She suspected Manon had drugged the milk. Ninon ran back to her room and called Melvin on the phone.
📱 Melvin… come to my house now… plea-se hurry….
she ended the call and took a jacket from the hanger. She was really in pain as she wore the jacket and rushed out of the mansion.
“Open the gate!” she yelled at the gate keeper and he immediately opener the gate. Ninon ran out of the gate and sat on the flower be-d beside the gate. She held her stomach as she twisted in pain.
“Melvin hurry” Ninon got weak and fell to the ground. She dialled Melvin’s line again with shaky hands but he wasn’t answering.
“where are you going? It’s late alre-ady” Lovane queried as Melvin hurriedly got dressed
“It’s an emergency” Melvin said and took his car key from the table
“Then tell me”
“Take care of yourself” Melvin pe-cked her on her cheek and ran out leaving his phone behind. He rushed into his car and zoomed off in high speed.
Melvin arrived at Ninon’s house and found her lying outside the gate. He parked his car by the road side and got down.
“Ninon?! Ninon?!” he called as he carried her in his arms but she had alre-ady pas-sed out. Melvin picked up her phone a d carried her to his car. He la-id her on the backseat and turned on the light. That was when he saw the blood flowing down her legs. He got alarmed and slammed the door shut then got into the driver’s seat. Turning off the light, Melvin turned on the ignition and drove off.
AT THE HOSPITAL 🏥
ONE HOUR LATER….
Melvin was in the corridor nervously pacing up and down while the doctor attended to Ninon. The doctor walked out shortly and walked up to Melvin.
“Who are you to the patient?” the doctor asked
Melvin thought for a while “a friend”
“I’d like to see a family member”
“am the only one around” Melvin lied
“what about her fiancé? I heard her wedding is in few days time”
“He isn’t in town, but he kept me in charge of her”
The doctor stared at him thoughtfully “come with me to my office”
They walked into the doctor’s office and sat down.
“I would’ve loved to see with her fiancé instead or a family member but since you rushed her here, that means you’re aware of what’s happening” the doctor observed a pause and went on “Is her fiancé aware she’s pregnant?”
“yes”
“well, she miscarried the baby but it was more of an ab-ortion”
Melvin could hear his lungs screaming but he sat as calm as he could “she lost the baby?”
“Am afraid she did” The doctor replied
“How’s Ninon now?”
“she’s fine but she’s slee-ping”
“can I see her?”
“Sure. I’ll call a nurse to take you to her ward”
The doctor made a short call and a nurse walked in. The nurse was beautiful and attrac-tive but for the first time, Melvin didn’t notice that. All he cared at that moment was Ninon. She led Melvin out to Ninon’s ward and st©pped at the door then Melvin walked in.
Ninon was sitting up awake on the be-d when he walked in.
“I thought the doctor said you were asleep” Melvin said and sat on the chair beside the be-d
“I tried falling asleep but I couldn’t. Even the pills didn’t work”
“Do you nee-d anything?”
“Nothing. I just want to be alone”
“Ninon am sorry”
“where you behind this?”
“Behind what?”
“you connived with my mother to drug me”
“I didn’t. If I wanted to, I wouldn’t have connived with your mother. The doctor said it was an ab-ortion”
“someone drugged me” Ninon bur-st into tears “All I wanted was my baby. I was willing to call off the wedding
“who drugged you?”
“my mother”
“am sorry. I was also affected in a way”
“you’ve always wanted this”
“I know I didn’t want to take responsibility but I wanted you to keep the baby”
“without a father?”
“am sorry”
“You don’t have to be. There’s no responsibility again but the wedding has to hold”
“what about Kyle?”
“what about me?” Ninon asked back raising her voice “I can’t lose the baby and the wedding”
“we can sought things out”
“I don’t want to sought anything out. When I wanted to, you told me you weren’t re-ady to be a father so there’s nothing we nee-d to sought anymore”
“Ninon am not trying to blackmail you just call off the wedding. Remember, I’ve still got evidences against you. Don’t forget the ab-ortion law and Jaina island”
Ninon scoffed and tears rolled down her cheeks “is this how to console me?”
“I don’t want to see you hurt neither do I want to see Kyle hurt. I just want everyone be fine. you can still find love”
“Leave!”
“Ninon?!”
“Just go. I don’t want to see you”
Melvin sighed then got up and walked out reluctantly.
“Am not calling off the wedding” Ninon stated adamantly
FOUR DAYS LATER
WEDDING BELLS 💒 💒
“Where’s Melvin?” Kyle asked impatiently as he tried calling Melvin on the phone. They were done dressing up and the wedding convoy was about to leave for the church buy Melvin was no where to be found.
“Kyle?!” Maeva wheeled herself in “are you really marrying her?”
Kyle smiled and carried her “don’t you want nieces and nephews that would call you aunt?”
“Not from her”
“Sometimes what you seek is not what you get” Kyle said
“but not her”
“we can’t st©p it”
“Kyle?!” Paul called from behind. Rodriguez had appointed some men to watch Kyle so he wouldn’t get away and Paul was one of them. His convoy was really a wedding convoy but a security convoy.
“Hermano mayor?” Maeva called innocently
“Am sorry Maeva” he placed her on her wheelchair and walked out with Paul
Kyle continued trying Melvin’s line during the drive but he wasn’t answering. Two men were sitting on each side of Kyle in the car. Kyle gave up and shoved the phone into his pocket.
Minutes later, Kyle’s phone started ringing. He took it out from his pocket and it was Melvin calling.

The men looked at Kyle and he realized he had sighted too loud.
📲 Those men are listening to us so I’ll text you the address. Find a way to kick them out of the car
Melvin ended the call. Kyle looked at the men who we in the car and the convoy. How was he going to get away?
His phone beeped and he checked it. It was a message from Melvin. He checked his inbox and it was an address.
“St©p the car”
“But we haven’t gotten to the church yet” the driver protested
“just st©p the car” Kyle yelled
“continue driving” one of the men ordered the driver. Kyle scoffed and hit him with his elbow. The other guy tried fighting back but Kyle punched him on his face.
“St©p the damn car!” Kyle yelled and the driver drove out of the convoy. He parked the car by the roadside and the convoy c@m£ to a halt.
“Get down!” Kyle ordered and the men in the car quic-kly obeyed. He entered the driver’s sear and drove off. The convoy went after him and they were in his tail. His phone started ringing and he quic-kly connected the call to his car.

Melvin ended the call and Kyle faced the steering. He drove for a short time and the convoy st©pped chasing him.

“Océane?! Come see” Yasmine shouted from the living room and Océane ran out.
“What is it?”
“isn’t this Kyle?” Yasmine pointed to the television screen. The wedding was being aired live and pictures of Ninon and Kyle was on displa-y.
“it really is Kyle” Océane said
“He’s getting married”

Océane watched Ninon walk out of the car in a wedding dress “I know her”

“That’s Ninon”
“Manon’s daughter?” Yasmine asked
“yes”
“she’s Kyle’s bride”
Océane shook her head and tears rolled down her cheeks “no”
“what’s wrong?” Leo asked as he walked into the living room. He watched the television and quic-kly un-derstood why the duo were so sad.
“Océane?!”
Océane ignored Leo and ran out of the house. Leo and Yasmine went after her. She c@m£ to a halt as a car c@m£ to a halt at a distance in front of her and Kyle walked out. Océane was shocked to see Kyle standing at a distance before her. Kyle ran to Océane and she spre-ad her hands wi-de for a hvg but instead he wra-pped his hands around her and k!$$£d her.
