“Océane?!” Kyle screamed and got up with a start. He had been dreaming all along. Kyle brou-ght out a handkerchief and wiped the sweat from his face.
“Océane?!” he breathed out and got up from the be-d “am about to lose my mind” he ruffled his hair and took his car key and phone from the be-dside table. Kyle walked out of his mansion and entered his car.
He drove to the bridge he dreamt of. The sun was setting and there was no one on the bridge. Kyle walked to the sp©t her had seen Océane in his dream. Eyes downcast, Kyle wearily plodded down the road he had chased Océane. He got to the sp©t she had jumped and leaned on the rail and gazed out to the water.
The water was still and calm as ever.

Kyle remembered Océane’s words and he couldn’t help the tears that’s trickled down his cheeks.

Kyle wiped off his tears “I can’t cry for her” he shook his head “not after she left me”

Kyle scoffed in pain and screamed. The water suddenly moved and Kyle saw Océane swim out. She looked up at him and smiled.
“Océane?!” Kyle called out but on a second thought, it was just his imaginations. The water was still and there was no Océane.
He punched the air in frustration and sat on the road.
“You have to come back”

Melvin glanced at his wrist watch for the umpteenth time. He had been waiting outside The Hernández for two hours to see Lovane but she wasn’t showing up. He didn’t want to go into the mansion cause he had no business there when Kyle wasn’t there so he parked his car outside hoping Lovane would come out for a stroll like she did the last time.
“What to do” he thought

No. He was scared of the crazy quads.
The gate opened and he hoped it was Lovane but Adele walked out. She looked sick and dejected cause if worrying about Océane. Adele walked to another direction without seeing Melvin and Melvin couldn’t help but wonder why everyone seemed so affected about Océane’s disappearance. He waited for extra saving minutes and Lovane finally walked out. She looked at Melvin’s direction and he waved at her to come over.
Lovane walked towards him and st©pped by his car.
“Finally!” Melvin breathed out
“What are you doing here?” Lovane asked
“waiting for you”
Lovane blu-shed with embarras-sment “for me?”
“Yes and I’ve waited for hours”
“I didn’t know you were coming”
“I wanted to make it a surprise”
“Then you should’ve come inside”
“I don’t have answers to the questions of those quad girls”
Lovane asked “why do you want to see me?”
“Let’s talk in my car” Melvin said and she nodded. He held the car door open for her and she got into the pas-s£nger seat. Melvin slammed the door shut and got into the drivers seat.
“Take me elsewhere. Am bored of the mansion” Lovane said
“At your service” Melvin turned on the ignition and drove out.
They went to and Italian restaurant and paid for a table. Thelma had come to discuss not to eat so they didn’t bother ordering for a meal, just at a bottle of wine.
“How’re you faring at the mansion?” Melvin asked
“It’s hell. I don’t want to ever return there again” Lovane replied
“The Hernández are nice people”
“I know but there’s no one to talk to. Everyone goes about their business”
“At least you’ve got the quad”
“They’re as good as being alone”
“where do you come from? Maybe you should visit your home”
“I don’t have a home”
“did you fall from the sky?”
“I really don’t have a home”
“what about your family?”
“All dead”
“Oh! sorry”
“so there’s nowhere to go” Lovane said pretentiously
“what about Kyle? How did you get to know each other?”
“I was homeless then he found me and helped me” she lied
“then you should talk to him”
“I don’t think he’s going to listen. All he thinks about now is Océane”
“Was that why you told Lise they were staying together?”
“I didn’t” Lovane lied
“Sure?” Melvin furrowed his brows “then how did she get to know. You’re the only one I told about it”
“I don’t know. I couldn’t have told Lise knowing Océane would get in trouble if I did”
“That means you care about Océane”
“Yes. A lot. She’s nice and friendly and like a sister to me even though we aren’t related”
“Then who could’ve told Lise?”
“I really didn’t” Lovane lied and asked “what did Lise do?”
“I suspect she threw Océane out of Kyle’s house now Océane is missing but if you really didn’t tell her, that means Océane really left”
“why would she do that?” Lovane asked pretending to be concerned
“I don’t know but Kyle is in so much pain now”
“Heard he’s getting married to that Ninon girl. Why would he be worrying about Océane?”
“she means more to him than Ninon”
Lovane sighed “poor Kyle– I wonder how he’s coping”
“He’s miserable”
“can I see him?”
“I’ll have to inform him first”
“so I’ll have to return to that hell if a mansion” Lovane drawled
“you can come with me– if you don’t mind”
“I really don’t mind as long as am away from The Hernández”
“I guess I have a new housemate now” Melvin said and Lovane replied with a smile

Kyle arrived at his mansion late in the night. He had stayed out on the bridge for long. Kyle had a shower and cooked noodles for dinner. After eating, Kyle stayed up watching a movie. He was trying to take Océane off his mind and to achieve that, he decided to marry Ninon. Kyle was so engrossed in the movie when his phone beeped. He paused the movie and checked the message. It was from his father.

Kyle sighed and tossed his phone aside.
Lunch with the Lopéz.
What more would they discuss aside his wedding to Ninon. Kyle turned off the television and retired to his room.
THE NEXT DAY
Kyle checked the time and satisfied he was late enough, he drove to The Lopéz. The lunch had been scheduled for 12pm but he decided to go late.
Kyle arrived at exactly 2:00pm. And when he entered the mansion, his parents were staring daggers at him.
The two families were alre-ady seated and so was Ninon. One look at her, you would tell she was sick. Lunch had been served and eaten and the table had been cleared.
“Good afternoon” Kyle greeted generally and sat beside Lise, facing Ninon.
“why are you late?” Rodriguez asked sternly
“I had something IMPORTANT to do” Kyle lied
Rodriguez clenched his fist and Lise placed her hand on his clenched fist.
“At least he’s hear” she said
Rodriguez huffed loudly and looked away.
“There’s no nee-d to be mad Rodriguez, whatever held him must’ve been really important” Manon pacified
“Let’s continue with the proposal” Rodriguez said
Kyle didn’t pay any attention to the conversation. He stared blankly at Ninon who was averting her eyes. Ninon kept looking around till their eyes met. Kyle’s stare was firm and it said a lot of things Ninon could re-ad out. She suddenly wished she could call the wedding off but marrying Kyle, had always been her dream.
“what do you think Kyle?” Fredo asked bringing Kyle back to reality.
Kyle stared at them blankly. He didn’t hear a single thing they discussed neither did he know what they were asking him.
“say something Kyle” Rodriguez urged impatiently “what do you think?”
“I think this meeting should be adjourned until next week” Kyle blurted out
Rodriguez sl@pped the table angrily “what’s wrong with you?”
“I can’t concentrate in this now” Kyle said raising his voice
“Kyle be polite. you’re talking to your father” Lise scolded
“Am sorry” Kyle apologized “but I have no idea of what you were talking about”
“That’s because you were abs£nt minded” Lise accused
“let’s talk about this some other time but not today” Kyle said “I’ll leave first” he got up and walked out
“I apologize for my son’s behavior” Lise said
Ninon pushed her chair out and got up “Excuse me” and she walked out
“You should talk some s-en-se into your son” Rodriguez seethed and stomped out.
“you don’t have to be sorry. Kyle is like a son to us too” Manon said “we’ll wait till he’s re-ady then we’ll meet again”
“Thank you so much Manon” Lise said and turned to Fredo “thank you so much for your un-derstanding. I’ll leave now” she got up and left
“Kids of nowadays are something else” Fredo shook his head disappointedly and walked out.
THE HERNÁNDEZ MANSION 🏡
“… you can’t just impose marriage on me because of a stupid family relationsh!p” Kyle yelled at Rodriguez. The two involved in a heated argument when they returned from the lunch.
“The marriage wasn’t imposed on you” Rodriguez yelled back
“But I don’t want to marry Ninon” Kyle stated and Rodriguez sl@pped him
“you cease been my son they day you think of calling off this wedding” Rodriguez seethed and walked out
“Kyle?! Kyle?!….” Lise called but Kyle ignored her and walked out

Ninon stood in front of her full length mirror sizing herself.
“This marriage isn’t going to work” she said to herself “am going to get a ball son”
Manon entered the room and watched Ninon from behind “you look worried” she said and walked up to Ninon
“I want to call off the wedding” Ninon said
“Why?”
“Am pregnant and Kyle isn’t the father. they’ll find out soon and the whole world is going to mock at me when Kyle rejects it”
“Kyle isn’t going to reject it and besides, your pregnancy isn’t going to be obvious until the wedding is over”
“I can’t put the responsibility on Kyle. we have never been together”
“no one is saying you should place the responsibility on Kyle, you’re going to ab-ort it”
“I’ve tried but it isn’t working”
“I’ve meet with a divorce. He’s good. A lot of friends testified about him”
“am scared madre”
“you went scared when you got pregnant. Why should you be scared about getting rid of it?”
Ninon inhaled “what’s his name?”
“Dr Gregg” Manon replied “we’ll be leaving tonight”
“what about the ab-ortion laws? what if the hospital reports us?”
“It’s between you and I and Dr Gregg. He’s going to keep it a secret but if you’re scared then I’ll silence him after the ab-ortion”
“Alright! I just want to be free from this thing growing in me”
* * HOSPITAL 🏥
Manon and Ninon snuck into the hospital in disguise. Dr Gregg was waiting for them outside then he took them to his office without anyone seeing them.
“We don’t have time” Dr Gregg said going throu-gh some files on his table “Miss Ninon?”
“Y–es” Ninon stuttered. Her heart was racing
He picked up a file and said “follow me”
Dr Gregg and Ninon walked out of the office a d took a corridor. The got to a door and he pushed it open. The room was large with just one be-d in it.
“lie on the be-d” he instructed and she obeyed immediately. He brou-ght out his phone and took a picture of Ninon lying on the be-d.
“what was that for?” Ninon asked and got up
He smiled and peeled off the face mask he was wearing.
“Mel… Melvin” Ninon stuttered and her jaws dropped
“Dr Gregg” he corrected and t©uçhed the name tag pinned to his shi-t
“what are you doing here?”
“your mother paid me to ab-ort our baby”
“where’s Dr Gregg”
“There was never a Dr Gregg”
Ninon g@sped “What are you?”
“I don’t have an answer to that, now listen… ” Melvin began “I’ve got three evidences against you.

“Cause Kyle is my friend. All you have to do is call off the wedding and your secrets are safe with me” Melvin said “and it you want to know why the pills weren’t working.. well, I switched them the day you bought them but am with the original”
Ninon broke down in tears.
“don’t bring up the tears. You’ve got five minutes to leave the hospital else you’ll get caught” Melvin said and added “am out” and he walked out.
