NOT SO PERFECT 😍

Episode 9- Second To Last Episode

The next day, My father hurriedly had breakfast, he ba-rely responded to my greetings, it was obvious that he was angry at me, after breakfast, he left for that important meeting and like always my mom had sweared a little prayer for him immediately he left.
Later that day, something unimaginable happened, my father’s personal as-sistant called my mom to inform her that my father had coll@psed at the office and that he was being rushed to the hospital.

My mom almost ran mad, we hurriedly left for the hospital and when we arrived the doctor was attending to my unconscious father.
When my mother inquired about details of what had happened.
My father’s PA told us that the investor refused to invest in our company and immediately the investor left, that my father coll@psed.
I bec@m£ frightened but I prayed nothing bad should happen to my father.

Few hours later, it was like heaven heard my prayers as the doctor announced that my dad had regained consciousness and that he nee-ded to see me.
Immediately I headed into the hospital room where my father was being admitted.
He called out my name immediately he saw me.
“Jessica, my child”
“Dad, what happened?you were so strong this morning” I entered immediately.

“My dear, I Don’t know but I just lost all hope when the investor refused to invest in our company, my child we are poor now, this investor was my last hope, all the banks that we owe are alre-ady on my n£¢k and I Don’t know what to do, I think I should place some of our properties for sale but I Don’t know how to tell your mother, my child i know lately
you think that I’m ins-en-sitive and unsupportive but that’s not true, I mean well, you are my first child and i want your future to be secured, plea-se marry Gilbert, he c@m£ from a well known and successful family, I don’t want you to suffer, that Emeka is a nob©dy, trust me, he is only decieving you” My Father told me.

I was confused, why is life always testing me? I thought. I couldn’t bring myself to argue with my father in that state that he was in.
I just told him to rest and to st©p talking.
I was sitting beside my father when my father’s PA and my mom rushed into the hospital room.
“What’s going on? I said immediately and even my father was curious too to know what happened. But it seemed as if they were in a nice mood, my mom’s face was lightened up with smiles
Shared on whatsapp by Martino.
“Mom, what happened?” I asked again. My mother tapped the PA and
Then suddenly My father’s PA announced ” sir, there has been a mix up, the new investor we were actually expecting just called me”
“Investor? I Don’t un-derstand, but I thought I meet Chief. Okocha this morning” My father entered.
” Sir, I Don’t know what really happened but the new investor, Chief Okocha called me now to inform me that he is on his way, and that he apologizes for the delay, and when I called the secretary she told me that we were actually expecting two new investors today and that the man that c@m£ earlier today was Mr. Magnus Nwokocha.”

“Oh really, I see and none of you thought it was important to inform me that we were expecting two investors? All of you are incompetent” My father entered, even though his face was wearing a frown, I just know that de-ep down my father was excited.
My father tried to get up from the hospital be-d to leave but my mother st©pped him immediately.
“Honey, What do you think you are doing?” My mother asked
“I’m heading over to the office, didn’t you hear my PA” my father replied.

“Sir there’s no nee-d for that, I told the investor that you were not feeling well and that you were hospitalized, and that the meeting could be postponed but I Don’t know the investor felt concerned and he requested for the name of the hospital where you were admitted, he said he will st©p by but I can’t give out such information without your permission…..” The PA added. But my father cut in immediately
“Permission? plea-se go ahead, I really want to meet this nice investor, he is our only hope now, plea-se Don’t blew up the only opportunity we have” my father concluded.

An hour later, my father’s PA got a call.
“Sir, the new investor is here” The PA said immediately after the phone call.
“Oh that’s good” my father entered. Few minutes later, Three handsome looking men walked into my father’s hospital room and when I looked closely at one of the men who walked in, I almost thought that my eyes was pla-ying tricks on me

“Emeka?” I said almost silently, I stared over and over again and yes I was right, one of the men that walked in was actually Emeka. My Emeka.
He smiled at me and I smiled back.
He politely greeted my mother and my father but too bad my father didn’t respond.
My mother warmed up to him but my father asked him to leave immediately.
“Emeka, What are you doing here? Who invited you here? Didn’t I warn you to stay away from my daughter and that includes my family” My father entered immediately.

“Sir, have you alre-ady meet Chief Emeka okocha, he is the new investor that we are expecting” my father’s PA announced
“What?” My father entered in disbelief.
“Sir, yes I’m the new investor, … I know that I’m an illiterate… like you told me over the phone but I have educated people that work for me like this two gentlemen that is standing here with me, I can speak good english today thanks to your daughter, I had your number saved on my phone as the CEO of the company where I was to invest but when you called me with that same number and introduced yourself as Jessica’s father I was shocked, the world is a small place, I never wanted to invest in your company, even my financial advisor told me not invest in your company that the company has coll@psed alre-ady but when you called me and I discovered that you are My Jessica’s father, I decided to invest because I love your daughter so much and I can do anything for her, sir here is the cheque for 500 million naira and I wish you a quic-k recovery” Emeka said and my Father’s PA collected the cheque and then Emeka turned to me so loving and said “my love I will call you” I smiled and hvgged him.

“Thank you honey” I whispered in Emeka’s ears
We k!$$£d and finally he left with the other two men that he c@m£ with.
My Father was so speechless and even shocked.
I know he had learnt never to look down on people.
One thing was clear that day, and it was the fact that My father was ashamed and he felt like chewing back every hurtful and demeaning word he ever said to Emeka.

Episode 10- Final Episode

That incident really humbled my Father, That day he ba-rely uttered a word.
Untill the next day, when his accountant called to inform him that the 500 million naira cheque has been approved for payment and the money had been deposited into the company’s account.

“Jessica my child, I should have known you were telling the truth when you suggested I ask around, so that Emeka is actually a someb©dy?” My father entered.
I didn’t utter a word but he continued. “our company nee-ded just 300 million naira to bounce back but we got 500 million naira from Emeka, he didn’t even wait to sign any paperwork or something, he gave out 500 million naira just like that, I’m still in shock and at the same time ashamed, my daughter, What was I thinking to as-sume that someone who wasn’t educated can’t be successful?” My father said remorsefully.

As I listened to my father, my thoughts travelled far, as I reminsced on the first day I had Meet Emeka and even our first d@t£ and how I had told myself, that I will never d@t£ him, because he couldn’t speak good english, but that same Emeka didn’t only stand by me when I lost my sight, he also saved my family from bankruptcy, tears was alre-ady clouding my eyes.
But when I remembered that I was in my father’s pres£nce, I quic-kly wiped off my tears.
With the look on my father’s face, it seemed as if he had a lot to say, he was about to utter more words, when the doctor walked in to the hospital room.
The doctor politely requested that I leave, so he could examine my father to see if he was fit to go home.

As God will have it, That same day my father was discharged.
The doctor had advised that my father should avoid stress and eat only healthy meals. When my Father returned home, I noticed he was still dumbfounded and seriously didn’t know the right way to express how he was feeling. It was obvious, That the incident with Emeka had threw his thinking faculty off balance.

My father was extremely disturbe-d and de-ep in thoughts. Since after his encounter with Emeka, he wasn’t speaking much and was moody. And most time when he speaks he beats around the bush.
Thank God my mom was quic-k to notice that something was up and tried to inquire what the problem was but he wasn’t talking. She started panicking and felt something was wrong with her husband and that was when I told her all my father had told me in the hospital. My father didn’t utter a word as I told my mother everything he told me in the hospital, then suddenly, I can’t believe my eyes when my father broke down in tears, i and mom was shocked to the brim because we had never seen my father cry.

“Why are you crying? It’s not too late to make amends and Emeka is a nice young man and I’m sure he doesn’t bear any grudge against you, if he was angry he wouldn’t had invested in our dying company” my mother said,
“It’s not just about that, is just that I feel horrible, I said alot of hurtful words to that young man and I humiliated him many times and I feel so ashamed,
Emeka that I concluded was a nob©dy gave out 500 million naira just like that but the Gilbert that I thought was successful, gave me conditions, he told me he will only invest in our company, if Jessica agrees to marry him” my father soberly said.

“What, Gilbert said that to you? Now I un-derstand better, why you were taking everything personal, and you were forcing our daughter to reconnect him, just for your own selfish interest, how could you accept that condition in the first place?” My mother entered.
“Dad, so you were re-ady to sell me off to Gilbert just to save your company?” I asked in tears.
“And here I was thinking that your intentions were good” I added
“I was desperate, plea-se forgive me my child” my father replied in tears

The atmosphere was highly emotional and all my mum could do was to try and get us out of the bad mood we were in. She tried to handle the whole situation but I was so furious and also in tears, I didn’t know when I told my father that I won’t forgive him and walked away in tears.
Unfortunately, My parents couldn’t sleep well that night as they kept thinking on how to make things right. They thought of several ways to win my heart again and knew that the only way to fully succeed would be for them to involve Emeka.

Few days later, I was so surprised when I saw Emeka and few of his family members in our house. I lovingly dragged him to my room, “what are you doing? Why will you appear in my house unannounced and who are those people?” I asked.
“Those are my maternal uncles, they are the only people who stood by me when my parents died, they would had done more for me but at the time they were very poor, but they made sure I had food to eat” Emeka responded and i smiled.
” That’s good to know but you have not answered my question, why are you here with your uncles” I threw in.

“My love, I’m here to officially ask for your hand in marriage, we finally got your fathers cons£nt, i was so excited when your father called me and gave me his permission to come with my family, Nne, I have always told you that I want to be your husband and not your b©yfri£nd, you are too beautiful, to be just my girlfriend, let’s get married Nne” Emeka told me and I blu-shed.
By the tone of Emeka’s voice, I could tell that he was as excited as I was,
To be honest, it brou-ght relief to my heart to know that my father invited Emeka and his people so that they can officially ask for my hand in marriage.
I can’t believe my ears, this is the Emeka my father initially didn’t want to even hear about. It’s amazing to know that anything can just change in a twi-nkle of an eye and make the strongest heart melt like wax.

“My father in-law told me that you are angry with him, whatever he has done, plea-se forgive him, he is your father afterall” Emeka finally entered and I hvgged him.
“Nne, Don’t bribe me with hvg oh, you know that man is my father now, you better behave oh, promise me you will forgive him” Emeka added
And of course I promised, I was not even angry at my father anymore. He was desperate and one thing I have learnt all these years is that NO ONE IS PERFECT and that includes me.
“My Queen when we get back to the sitting room, plea-se hvg your father, the same way you hvgged me now, Nnem, it will make me happy if you do that” Emeka concluded and I smiled

Shortly afterwards, we went back to the sitting room and I went ahead to hvg my father as Emeka had suggested and my father was so elated that he whispered prayers into my ears and Emeka was in smiles.
My father blessed me and once again he apologized for everything he did wrong and I told him that I was not upset anymore.
“Dad, you are the best father any girl will ask for, you always made sure I had everything, I have never d@t£d any man for his money because you always provided for me, Dad I have forgiven you, I love you daddy” I told my father and he blu-shed.

Finally, Emeka and his uncles officially asked for my hand in marriage as custom demanded, When they eventually did, my mother was the happiest woman in the world because she felt that her daughter had found happiness and she gave us her blessings too.
That day was the best day of my life, that day i wasn’t only engaged to Emeka, also a d@t£ was set for our traditional and white wedding and I was surprised that it fell on my birthday.
When I told Emeka that our wedding day would fall on my 29th birthday, he smiled so mischievously. It was obvious that he was behind everything and his plan was to make our wedding day more memorable for me.
