CHAPTER 51
Jared ran his hands throu-ghhis hair in frustration. He never thought he would nee-d to explain himself to anyone let alone a human who is now his mate. The fact that he doesn’t want to lose her overwhelms him a lot. In such a short period of time, he has gotten so used to her that he doesn’t want to leave her. This could only be the work of the moon goddess.
“Daphne, it’s not what you think. Tiana and I… We used to date but then we broke up when I found you.” He started.
She stopped him, “What? So what you are saying now is that I am the reason you left your beautiful Barbie? If you hadn’t found me, then you would still probably be with her now right?”
“That’s not it. We already made an agreement at the beginning. I told her what would happen if I was ever to find my mate. We used to be just friends until she decided to initiate dating. She already knows what would happen after I found my mate, I thought she un-derstood.” Jared explained, getting more frustrated.
Daphne nodded, “I see… She doesn’t want to let you go yet. I would totally do that too if I were her. How can you just break up with her because of me? Why didn’t you just tell me everything from the start?”
“I did not think that it was necessary. It’s important for me to be with my mate, that’s the only way I can ever be content. I would be going around otherwise, we would still have broken up without you around. I’m sorry for not telling you from the start, I know I messed up. Forgive me.” He pleaded.
Umbrie used to talk about her brother as the cold, mean guy. Daphne never saw that side of him since they started going out. He is even willing to beg him this time around just to make her stay with him?
Daphne sighed and hu-gged him. Maybe she was being too jealous of this Tiana girl. Jared said he can only find satisfaction with her, she should not be jealous of someone that has no connection with him. This is making Daphne rest @$$ured that Jared is hers only.
“I am sorry too. I just… I don’t like her. She came all of a sudden, claiming that she wants to see you and all that. I thought I was the only girl you brou-ght here so I got mad knowing she came here before me.” Daphne pouted like a kid.
Jared smiled, gently stro-king her hair. “I did not think you would get so jealous seeing my ex. Maybe I should make you more jealous often.”
“Maybe I should cut off your head then.” She warned sternly.
He laughed, “That was a joke. I would never try that. I do not have super strength for that.”
Daphne suddenly squealed, “You haven’t shown me your abilities yet. I heard werewolves have a lot of hidden abilities. Mind reading, speed… Oh what are you? Alpha? Gamma? Beta? Omega?… What is your position?….”
Jared palmed his face to her never ending questions. He was happy when she never asked this. Now thanks to Tiana’s special appearance, he has to answer all of this. She won’t even stop at one, she is asking a lot of questions.

It was evening already, Umbrie and Kieran got to his house. They didn’t see his parents downstairs so they rushed up to his room to avoid any questions. Umbrie was for-ced up, she did not want to come yet. Kieran insisted she spent more time with him before she leaves. He even insisted on taking her to the airport tomorrow.
“Why are we even here Kieran? I am not…” Kieran put a finger on her li-ps.
“Shhh… You’ll make my parents find out you are here. I just want to cud-dle with you before you leave.” He pulled her towards the bed.
Umbrie reluctantly agreed, she laid there getting scared that something would get mad and then another session of what they didn’t plan. She loved it, but not today. Her legs still hurts from the one they did before.
“I don’t like your idea of cuddling, you won’t…”
“Shhh…” He shuts her off holding her in the spoon position. “Just cud-dle with me for today. I won’t see you for a whole week, I deserve this much.”
“Fine. Let’s stay like this till you want. I won’t stay long though, you know I have to go get ready.” She stated.
“Yeah whatever….” His eyes are closed as he mumbled that.
“You’re so annoying sometimes.”
SKIP TIME
Umbrie je-rked up to the sound of the alarm coming from her phone. She quickly took her phone and checked the time, it’s three in the morning. Not just that, she has a lot of missed calls on her phone. She did not hear them until her alarm woke her up. She is used to studying for two hours by that time so she set a constant alarm.
“Why would mom and dad be calling me by this time when I am at home? They could just walk up to my…” Her statement stopped when a hand tou-ched her body.
She realised where she is. She screamed loud enough to make him jump out of his bed, landing on the ha-rd floor.
“Umbrie! What the heck?!” Kieran yelled getting up from the floor.
“KIERAN! I WILL KILL YOU! IT’S THREE IN THE MORNING AND I AM NOT HOME! MY PARENTS HAVE BEEN CALLING ME!!” She charged towards him, he ran away.
“Calm down Umbrie, I also slept off. I did not know that time has gone so fast. It’s so nice cuddling with you that everything else doesn’t matter. I am even hungry…” He ru-bbed his tummy making Umbrie more angry.
“You’re hungry? Of all the things you had to say, you are hungry? I’ll kill you for sure you buffalo!” She charges towards him again chasing him round the room and throwing things at him.
“I am not a buffalo baby, I am a werewolf remember?” Kieran teased her more.
There was a knock on the door that made them stop. Kieran rushed to open the door and found his mother standing at the doorstep.
“What are you doing here mom?” Kieran asked like he doesn’t know why.
“Is everything alright here son? I heard some screams coming from this side, what is going on?” Mrs Diaz asked him.
“Everything is alright mom. We are just…”
“We?” His mother gave him a questioning look.
He adjusted the door for her to see Umbrie, who is already on the bed pretending to be asleep and facing the other side. “Umbrie and I are just having fun.”
She gave him a mischievous grin. “Oh I see, I won’t interrupt anymore but keep it down you too. I know it’s ha-rd to be quiet but… Slowly. I’ll leave you two now, later.” She waved at him and left quietly.
Kieran burst into quiet laughter, he slowly went to her and whispered into her ears. “She is gone baby. You can turn around now.”
“You je-rk! Don’t touch me!” She slapped his hands off getting up.
“Where are you going princess?” He stopped her, and pulled her to his lap-s.
“Leaving. I’m going home before my parents kill me for not informing them before I decided to stay over at your house and making them worry about me too much.” She said calmly this time.
“You have nothing to worry about princess. I will take you home in a few hours. I already informed them that you are here before you woke up. Your phone won’t stop ringing so I guessed they were worried about you.”
Her mouth fell open in shock. She gave him a knock on the head.
“You should have told me this before instead of making me worry. Or you should have woken me up.” She scolded him.
“I am sorry, can we go back to sleep now? You will be leaving in a few hours, I should spend time with you.” He asked.
“You spent enough time with me already, stop acting like a clingy kid.” She rolled her eyes getting up from his lap-s.
She laid on the bed, he laid beside her and cudd-led with her again. He felt like not letting her go. There’s no nee-d for him to think about it anymore, what he feels for her now is more than he can hold in. He has fallen in love with her.
By morning, they went home to meet Umbrie’s parents waiting for the both of them with queries. Umbrie had to cover her ears to the never ending saga of her parents scolding her for going out and coming late. She was able to ditch Kieran and escape to the bedroom where she started packing her things for the important trip.

CHAPTER 52
Kieran dropped Umbrie off at the airport to meet up with the teachers and the rest of the students going with her. He thought of secretly following them, but then decided against it after thinking about what might happen if Umbrie finds out. He doesn’t want to get into another heated argument with her where she would want to break the mate bond again.
He went back home and counted the hours waiting patiently for her call. He was worried about her and could not concentrate on anything. After a long wait, he finally saw his phone ringing. It wasn’t a saved number but he guessed it to be her.
“Umbrie? Is that you Umbrie?” He asked desperately.
“Were you expecting a call from someone else? Don’t tell me you decided to cheat on me right after I just left.” Umbrie’s voice came from the other side.
He laughed in relief, “You scared me. I was so worried about you. Why didn’t you call me earlier?”
“What? We just got here now. I have not called my parents, I decided to call you first…”
“Because you miss me already?” He smi-rked, teasing her.
“Even at times like these, you won’t stop being a je-rk. That’s definitely like you.” She sighed.
“Don’t you miss me? You called me before your parents shows how much…”
“I’m hanging up now.” She cuts him off.
“I’m sorry, wait! Come on, don’t leave like that. I want to talk to you.”
“I will chat you up when I get to the hotel. Just wanted you to know I am safe. Bye, kizzes.” She hung up.
Kieran dropped the phone, heaving another sigh or relief. He waited patiently for her to text again. Waiting for her seems like an eternity, he just couldn’t wait for the week to run out. Even if he went to work for his parents now, his mind would still be with her.

Umbrie on the other side called her parents after she dropped the call with Kieran. She missed everyone so much, especially Kieran already. She also called her annoying brother to let him know she is alright. Not that he acts like he cares though.
While on the plane, she only thought of having the experience with Kieran. It was her first time. She wondered what it would be like in Dubai, and now she loves the beautiful city of Dubai, UAE. They got to the hotel booked for the which is also a sight to behold.
“There are so many sky scrappers around. That must be the Burj khalifa.” Umbrie pointed at the very tall skyscra-per they were seeing from the hotel.
She and Brittany would be staying in the same room while Scott would be sorted with the male teacher.
“This place is so cool. You and I have to stay here together right?” Brittany asked, completely forgetting the reason why they are there.
“Uhh… We came here for the competition Brittany. I think we should focus on that.” Umbrie reminded her.
“Right, sorry.” Brittany said, slightly embarr@$$ed.
“It’s fine. I am as excited as you, I am just holding it in.”
The teacher gave them their room key. “This is the key to your rooms, you should hand over your phones in thirty minutes. No TV, you nee-d to focus on reading for the competition.”
“But…”
“No buts… You would be given your phones after the competition. You should tell your families that now, if they nee-d to talk to you, they can call us.”
Umbrie nodded, “That’s not an issue for me. As long as I get it back after the competition, I don’t have a problem. Let’s go.”
She opened the door, Brittany went in behind her. She quickly se-nt a text to Kieran so they would talk before she gave her phone to the teacher. Kieran called back a few seconds after seeing the text.
“What do you mean your phones are being taken away? How am I supposed to communicate with you if that happens?” He asked sounding upset.
Umbrie sighed, “Come on, it is just for a few days. I will get my phone immediately after the competition.”
“Stop talking to me! I don’t want you there anymore. Just come back home!” He yelled that she took the phone from her ears.
“Easy on the volume Kieran… Just relax… I’ll be home soon enough. This is necessary, use the time left to talk to me before my phone is taken away.”
“I hate this competition idea. You are not going with them after this anymore. I won’t let it happen.” He ranted.
She laughed, “I have to inform my parents too…”
After calling him and her parents. The teacher came a few minutes later to take their phones away. She already missed Kieran badly, she decided to focus on the competition so she can make him proud.
“That was your boyfriend right?” Brittany asked as she sat beside Umbrie.
Umbrie nodded, “Yes, he is mad that our phones are being taken away.”
“I can tell he really cares about you. I wish I had a boyfriend who cares like that.” Brittany complimented.
“Don’t you have one? I heard you were dating the school’s baseball captain, Derek.” Umbrie asked confused.
Brittany is smart, beautiful but quiet. Even with that, she still has the attention of some guys in school which includes the popular Derek. He is always seen around her, and for some reason they were speculated to be dating. Umbrie is not the type to gossip, but it’s all over the school. Derek seems like a nice guy since a lot of girls in school wants him too, except Umbrie and Daphne of course.
“What? You believe that too?” She laughed nervously. “Well it’s not true. Bummer huh?”
Umbrie could feel her pain, it seems there is more to this story than just that.
“What exactly happened?…” Then she paused, “It’s okay if you don’t want to tell me. I mean, I feel like I’m poking my nose into matters that don’t concern me.”
“No… I’ll tell you. The thing is, Derek and I were close some weeks back. He approached me first so I thought he really wanted to be friends. I actually started to think we could end up becoming something, so I got so comfortable…” She laughed, “I decided to take the first step and ask him since everyone thinks we should date. I was met with a hu-ge rejection.”
“What? What did he say?”
“That I am not his type and maybe he made me too comfortable that I forgot my place. Turns out he was only using me to get higher grades. He nee-ded a smart pretty girl to tutor and help him in tests. That’s all I was to him, so I probably learnt my place already.”
This made Umbrie angry, “Don’t say that about yourself. He is going to regret rejecting you. Once we get back, a lot of guys would want you and it will be your turn to make him pay. He is not worth the thought, drop it and focus on this. This is your only chance at revenge.”
“Thank you Umbrie, I did not think we would ever have this talk. You’re so cool.”
Umbrie blus-hed, “Come on, I’m not so cool you know. Let’s have some rest so we can begin the study.”
“Sure.”

“I can’t believe this. How am I supposed to talk to her now that they took her phone away?!” Kieran dropped his phone in frustration.
He continued to try Umbrie’s number and it’s not going throu-ghanymore. The whole thing is eating him up that he feels so uncomfortable. He even imagines getting the teachers and p-ulling off their heads from their ne-cks for doing this to him.
“You should do something to keep yourself busy now that she is not here you know.” Mr Diaz said from behind him.
Kieran flinched a bit, “Dad! You scared the shit out of me!”
“You should always be prepared for anything. You and Umbrie nee-ds to un-dergo warriors training so you won’t be lacking when it’s time to defend yourselves.”
Kieran rolled his eyes, “Is that what you want me to do now that she is not around?”
“Not yet. You can help around in the company you know. You own everything we have. All these will be yours someday, it’s time to start preparing yourself and getting familiar with the business.” Mr Diaz replied.
“I told you dad, I have different dreams. There’s no way…”
“I am not asking you to stop your dreams just to be with us. I am telling you about your responsibilities. You are the only child, this should be pa-rt of your dreams too. Don’t be selfish Kieran.”
“All this just to get me to help around in the office?” Kieran shook his head.
“No, all this to get you into accepting the reality before you. You can start from now since there is nothing for you to do here.”
“Fine, I’ll come to the office.”
“That’s my son!” His mom hu-gged him from nowhere making him flinch.
“Mom! Do you two want to give me a heart attack?! Stop doing this to me!” He yelled.
“Like you can have one.” His mom replied rolling her eyes, reminding him of Umbrie.
“Now you sound like Umbrie.”
