*Rose POV*
*Two weeks later*

“The MTN number you’re trying to call is not reachable at the moment, plea-se try again later, thank you!” The customer servicer announced to me for the thousandth million times since two weeks now!
Oh lord!
“fv¢k! fv¢k fv¢k you Jonny! What’s happening!” I yelled in frustration.
This can’t be.
For two weeks now, i’ve been trying to reach my b©yfri£ndthrou-gh the phone to ask him for his address. His house address and all that.
I don’t know the fv¢king address!
I never bothered to know.
Okay, all i know is that he lives in Lekki..
What kind of a fool am I really?
Jonny only told me he lives in Lekki.
And i never bothered to ask him, where in lekki?
Which street?
which house?
Now, How do i find Jonny in the big city of Lagos if i eventually travel over there?
“God! I should have asked him for all this all those times I do reach him. I should have.” I blinked my eyes as tears flowed freely out of my eyes.
“What if something has happened to Jonny?”
No, i shook my head, “No, no there musn’t. There musn’t, not when Lady B is just on my n£¢k.”
The Fifty thousand hadn’t st©pped her from troubling me each day that pas-ses by.
It was becoming unbearable for me.
So Jonny would have to know about this. And not just knowing about it, but also doing something about it.
But how do i get his address,.
Im very sure that i have no friend that lives in Lagos that i can go to her house if i don’t find Jonny.
Who could have Jonny’s address?
Okay, his friends?
He has lots of friends and ofcos I can’t just start walking from Tom’s house to Jerry’s asking of an Address like an insane lady.
Now i have to calculate.
He has best friends.
Yes!
And only best friends could tell each other their de-epest secret.
Yes, That’s correct!
Now, Jonny had this two friends who I sure could bet were his closest friends before he travelled.
Stanley and Harry.
Okay, I like Stanley. He is good mannered and ha-rd working. And he owns a very nice Chemist shop.
But Harry disgusts me. He is a thief! A beast! A drun!kard! A wom-anizer! He never thinks of anything else except to get un-der a pas-sing girl’s Sk-irt.
I disdain him!
Jonny’s friendsh!pwith Harry was so not okay to me.
I would tell him that, and he would tell me, Harry had been his childhood friend and so he can’t just cut his friendsh!pwith him no matter what.
Well,
There was no way i was going to that idiot for what so ever! I’ll go see Stanley right away.
*
I quic-kly got unclad, wra-pped my towel ti-ghtly aroud my b©dy and walked to the small pas-sage in my ap@rtment, where i keep then I found out there is no water left. I’ve used everything and I never even thought of fetching water!.
I dropped the bucket and walked back to the room to change.
I gr@bb£d a black bomshort and a blue singlet and pu-ll-ed them on.
And went out with a gallon, to the Tap just outside the house to get water.
As I entered back inside the compound with the gallon of water on my head, I saw Papa Efe, my so called neighbour coming forward with a small empty bucket in his hand, obviously heading to the tap too.
He saw me and began to grin..
I hissed.
“Goodmorning Papa Efe.” I mumbled and continued my walking.
“Wait nah Rosa. ” He said and I rolled my eyes.
“What is it papa Efe?” I turned to face him.
“Ehm, see Rosa. The thing be say.. The thing i wan…I wan ask you..be say.. the thing be say…”
He was blabbing and his eyes were all over me..Obviously trying to see the tiniest hair on my skin.
“See, Papa Efe, why you dey talk and you just dey look me like this. na we-tin?” I asked with a frown.
He grinned sheepishly, displa-ying his coloured teeth. “Ahh, Rosa Rosa.. You too fine die, why i no go look and appreciate this kind big big things wey you carry eh Rosa the Rosa,. Just See your yellow paw paw skin. Na this kind sweet pepper soup wey i dey like make e dey make my b©dy dey h0t like hell fire!..”
“Na that hell fire go consume you this foolish man!” I cursed, pointing my f!nger right on his face.
“Eh? Rosa. No talk that thing na. I just dey praise your beautifulness. Say you too fine.”
“Go and meet your wife, She’s too fine as well.!!” I snapped.
“Ah shh na! Rosa no shout abeg. You want make my wife hear you eh.”
“Whatever! And haven’t I told you severally that my name is Rose and not Rosa? ” I said and took a step.
“Eh, Wait Rosa.. sorry i mean Rose. Anyone na the same. I be wan yarn you something.” He said.
“About what?” I was loosing my patience alre-ady, standing here with this old fool.
He scratched his beard and adjusted the wra-pper on his w@!st.
Cleared his throat.
Hmm, all this processes for what?
He cleared his throat again, “Ehm, you see eh, Rosa…”
“Rose” I corrected
“…yes, Rose. What about the thing wey i tell you na”
“What?”
“Say i like you wella wella.. If you give me your matter ehn, i go carry am for my head. I wan make we be ti-ghhhhht friend. You know that kind thing na” He said, grinning and scratching his head.
Gosh!
“Well, Papa Efe, as you can see, i don’t have your time.” I said.
“Rosa. See i go take care of you oh. You see that your yeye b©yfri£nd, Jonny wey leave you go lagos go dey flex life there. Forget am. Make you allow me, Akpenvwe make i take care of you.” He ranted.
I looked at him with disgust.
What ru-bbish!
“See Papa Efe, let me warn you for the first and for the last time, Don’t you ever st©p me on the way to vomit ru-bbish to me.”
“Ah ahn, Rosa, no be like that na.. Na word of wisdom i dey give you so oh..”
“To hell with you! I just wish your yoru-ba wife would keep breaking that dumb skull of yours each day! Foolish man! And one more warning. Caution those silly cats of yours, i don’t want to see them around my domain anymore.” I said and walked away.
*
“Chai. Papa Efe, look at the foolish drun!kard ma-king advances to me.. Ahh we-tin Rose no go see for this life sef.
Stupid man that he’s yoru-ba wife is always breaking his head with bottles all the time. Eleven children, and none of them are going to school. Just to walk the whole streets of delta hawking pepper and tomatoes, While the mother goes about hawking ogogoro and cigrette and also at the same time hawking her toto too!”
” I soliloquized as i took my bath.
“Akpenvwe is nothing but a stupid lazy man who does nothing else than to drink and vomit ru-bbish all the time. I wonder how my landlord allowed them into this house ehn, saying there are his family.
I’ve been a tenant in this house for four years now and in three years that i lived here, It was peaceful and relaxing. But ever since Akpenvwe and his lousy family c@m£ in a year now.
There is just nothing else that greets me goodmorning and goodnight every day, but Akpenvwe and his wife quarrels and fighting. Or the children lousy cries. Trouble all the time!. God! if not for the problem Jonny had put me into now, I’ll would have just pack out of this house to a better place. A peaceful house! Anyway, Jonny you shall soon see me!”
**
As i was all dressed and re-ady to go see Stanley at his shop,
My phone rang.
I checked the caller and it was Aunty Caro.
I smiled and picked it immediately.
Me and her don become five and six.
“Aunty Caro I salute!” I said.
“Rose the Rose! Just Guess what?!”
“Ah Aunty Caro. You know i no dey good for guessing things. I dey hurry, i wan go out.” I said.
“Abeg no spoil my mood naw oh, just guess anything abeg!”
“Okay, you don catch new young bobo?” I asked, grinning.
“Oh my Goodness! Yes Rose! Wow, you nee-d to see this guy’s pictures. God! and he’s super rich!” She said so excitedly. I laughed.
What else could make my Aunty this happy except these kind of things.
“Aunty Caro! You nee-d to take it easy oh..” I said, laughing.
“Wait wait, Rose, You no dey happy for me eh?”
“Jesus! ofcos i am Aunty Caro. Yes i am. Don’t think so.” I said.
“So tell me what’s the bobo’s name?” I asked.
She giggled for few seconds before answering, “Kelly, Kelly Ejifor.”
“Wow nice names. So have you met him?” I asked.
“No, just social media stuff for now. But we’re planning on that.” She said.
“Wow. I’m happy for you dear Aunty.” I said. Ofcos there was no way i was happy with the way she live her life. She nee-ded to st©p all this trash and see if she would meet a matured man who would ignore her past and marry her.

*Rose’s point of view continues*
“Wow. I’m happy for you dear Aunty.” I said. Ofcos there was no way i was happy with the way she live her life. She nee-ded to st©p all this trash and see if she would meet a matured man who would ignore her past and marry her.
“Thank you niece. Rosy, so tell me, where are you going to?”
My mood immediately changed. I bec@m£ sad.
“Rose, where you dey go? Na you tell me say you wan go out.”
“To see a close friend of Jonny.” I said.
“Close friend?”
“Yes.”
“For what?” She asked and I shut my eyes.
I didn’t want to tell her this.
She would blast me.
“Rose, say something.” Her voice was calm. It was unusual and so I decided to tell her.
“I want to go meet Jonny’s friend to ask him for Jonny’s address in Lagos. I’ve decided to go and pay him a visit. But i don’t know his address.” I said and bit my lower l!pha-rd , as I waited to hear the loudest criticizing laugh from her, and yeah she did.
She laughed at me.
She laughed at my stupidity..
My foolishness..
“Ah Rose. This is so funny!” She said, laughing ha-rd . As i jxt closed my eyes, trying ha-rd not to cry.
“You see your life? So you don’t know Jonny’s address right now, asin you don’t?”
“Yes i don’t. And he’s lines are unreachable for two weeks now.” I said.
She instantly st©pped laughing.
“we-tin you just talk?” She asked obviously in shock.
“For two weeks now Aunty.” I said almost in tears, “I’m scared as hell. What if he’s in trouble? What if something bad has happened to him?”
“Rose abeg abeg st©p this. Nothing has happened to that Jonny. That guy is trying to pl@ypranks. You nee-d to get his address fast. Don’t worry about Tfare, i will give you that.” She said.
“We’ll talk later.” I said,wiping my tears.
“Yeah. Take care of yourself. Love you.” She said.
“I will.. love you.” I said.
***
“Hello Stanley” I said immediately i stepped into Stanley’s pharmacy shop. He was prescribing some drugs to an elderly woman.
“Good afternoon ma.” I greeted the elderly woman.
“Good afternoon my daughter.” She greeted back as she took a look at me and smiled.
I smiled back.
“Wow, Rose. Longest time!” Stanley screamed.
“Yeah yeah. Wow it’s so cool and big here now.” I said, taking my eyes around his well ventilated shop.
“Rose, plea-se sit down. I wonder what brou-ght the unvisiting queen to my humble shop today.” He said laughing.
“Jesus, Stanley this is unfair o, so you mean i’ve never visited you before eh?”
“Ah Rose.. It’s been ages you did that. Just one hundred and fifty naira from that your side to my place for a bus, that is what have been giving you so much difficulty to do. Thank God for today oh. Welcome.”
I laughed, “Thank you sha.” I replied.
“What will I offer you?” He asked, smiling.
“Anything” I said, smiling too.
*
Soon the elderly woman left.
And stanley c@m£ and sat beside me in the long bench.
He had alre-ady offered me something.
“Stanley” I called as i took a sip from the Malt stanley offered me and then dropped it on the table beside.
“What is it Rose?” He questioned.
“It’s about Jonny.” I said.
“Jonny your b©yfri£nd?” He asked. He seemed suprised.
“Yes. Have you heard from him lately?” I asked.
“Well, it was two months ago..” He said.
I looked at him.
“Really?”
“Yes. Jonny and I hadn’t spoken for two months now. Hope there’s no problem?” He asked.
I sighed de-eply.
“It’s okay. Stanley I nee-d your help.”
“What help?” He asked.
“I nee-d Jonny’s address. I nee-d to go and pay him a visit over there.”
“Wow, Rose you mean, you don’t have your b©yfri£nd’s Address in lagos?” He asked, astonished.
I felt embarrased so I hid my face, “Yes.” I said calmly.
“Wow, that’s bad Rose, you know.” He said
“Yeah I know. I should have been wise enough to ask him for it. Just that I never nee-ded it all those times. But right now i do. I feel so bad. And i can’t bear it, his lines are unreachable!”
I cried out.
“It’s okay. Calm down” He said tou-ching my shoulder.
“Do you have his address or not?” I asked.
“Rose i’m sorry, I don’t have it. Jonny told me he leaves in Lekki but he never mentioned where. and i never asked. Maybe you should go ask Harry.” He said.
I shut my eyes as tears c@m£ flowing down my cheeks.
“Oh st©p. Rose you know Jonny is a nice guy and would never think of hurting you.”
God! How can I not think of such?
“No problem. Thank you.” I said as i wiped my tears with my hankerchief.
Then I stood up. “I’ll be going now.”
“Alright Rose, take care of yourself okay.” He said
I nodded and left..
*
As i got to the road and waited for a tricycle to take me home. I thought about Harry.
I contemplated on going to his house.
If there was one person who knows how to get someone’s de-epest secret with tricks, Harry is that one person.
Harry is so tricky, full of pranks.
Sure he would want to know all about Jonny and his lagos travel.
Harry should know.
I could bet he asked Jonny his address and Jonny would give him, ofcos.
Now what do I do?
I hated this guy and don’t want to see him for anything.
But how do I locate Jonny if I travel to Lagos.
I nee-ded to go to Jonny before Lady B arrests me.
Jonny have to do something.
I would go see Harry.
I would have to swallow my silly pride and do just that!
*My phone rang*
It was Lady B calling..
I ignored it.
But it kept coming, so i switched off my phone.
fv¢k you!
The sun was getting too h0t now.
Is Keke this scarce here.
I’ve been standing here for over fifteen minutes without seeing a single pas-sing one.
Well i’ll have no other choice than walk to Harry’s house this h0t afternoon..
But luckily, I saw a keke coming.
“You dey reach First Street?” I asked.
“Yes.” The Keke guy replied.
“How much?” I de-eply prayed it won’t be more than hundred naira.
“Hundred naira” He said.
Oh thank God!
***
As i got to Harry’s place. I immediately covered my nose because the first thing that welcomed me was dre-adful smell from the gutters around.
I wanted to throw up immediately.
First street is the dirtiest street i’ve ever seen in this state.
Oh God!
This street is over populated, Filled with cult gangs and almost everyone here lives a ghetto life and all this was what gave the street the name, “First Street”
I wonder why it have to be first street anyway,
Bad things will always like to come first.
I chuckled.
I got to his residence, A face-me-i-face-you ap@rtment, with old faded paint and rusted zinc.
I got confused. He wasn’t outside and i know not his room.
Luckily I saw a small boy, with a torn jean and no shi-t, ri-ding a tyre towards where i was and so i called him,
“Hey bobo. Whatsup? Shey you know Harry?”
The boy st©pped and stared at me for some seconds before throwing the question, “Who you be?”
“I be friend to Harry. Abeg come show me his room. I no know” I said.
The boy laughed, “You be him friend, but you no know him mansion..See you nah. You think say you fit lie for me abi?”
“Abeg no vex, just come show me.” I said.
The boy is a headache.
“Oya throw me something na.” He said stretching forth his hand.
“What?” I asked, probably not what i am thinking.
“Give me money for my service. Everything na business.” The boy said and i looked at him in astonishment. Such a little boy not even up to eight years old.
“Okay. no problem!” I said and searched my bag.
“Five Zero Zero na the pin.” He said.
I looked at him sternly.
“You mean five hundred naira?!” I exclaimed.
“Eh. you dey give? I don dey go now oh.”
“Ehm, Bobo just manage hundred naira jor. Na the only money wey me i get here. no vex” I said and he thought for a while before collecting it.
“Na the last door.. That one wey dey down down for dere..” He said.
I thanked him.
*
When i got to the last door and was about to knock, I heard sounds..
It was two voices,
One is Harry’s and the other one is a female voice, a small girl’s voice.
The female is begging, while Harry is telling her to keep quiet..But she keeps on begging.
They seem to be struggling.
Seems the girl is fighting to be free, because Harry just said he would kill her if she don’t keep cool now!
And Harry will do it!
He could.
I will have to knock now!
