My perfect marriage
Episode 25

Patience quic-kly washed her hands and walked out, Tisa remained in the toilet while Patience kept observing to see her back at the table but Phil!pwas alone for a long time. He kept talking on the phone as if arguing with someone until he finally left and did not return. Patience immediately concluded Tisa was uncomfortable to return.
Elvin told Patience that they nee-ded to leave early because he wasn’t feeling very well. Patience wasn’t so happy about leaving the wedding as she wanted to talk to her friends Kas-sy and Petrina who were on the line up.
When they left the wedding they went straight to Elvin’s house. He told her that he nee-ded to take some pain killers then he would drop her home or she would pick his car and drive herself home. When they arrived he asked Patience to get him his medicine from the dressing mirror while he remained sitted on the couch.
Patience got water from the kitchen put it on a table next to Elvin then rushed to the be-droom to get his medicine.
However, when Patience got to the be-droom her eyes were shocked and she held her mouth as tears quic-kly rolled down her cheeks.
Elvin’s king sized be-d had rose petals that formed the words “WILL YOU MARRY ME?”
As patience held her mouth Elvin walked in and knelt down in front of her. Patience was shivering and covered her face, it’s like she was dreaming but it was really happening.
“My love, I once told you that if God allowed me in this life time I would wish for nothing more than being your husband. I love you Patience, I love you and Thandiwe so much. You complete me and that is why I want nothing more than having you by my side for the rest of my life. So plea-se honey allow me the chance to give you your happily ever after. Patience will you marry me?” Elvin said
Patience nodded her head as she covered her face, he then pu-ll-ed out a box that had a 32 carat white gold and diamond ring.
Patience cried so much as she extended her hand to receive the ring. When he sli-pped it on her f!nger they embr@ced and k!$$£d.MY PERFECT MARRIAGE p@rt 23
When Elvin left, Patience took a sigh of relief and she jumped.
“Well well well, someone seems excited. What’s the good news? Her mother asked.
Patience quic-kly brushed the happiness from her face and held her mother by the hand.
“Mum its late lets go inside” she said.
“Why are you hiding? That gentleman c@m£ back.. Who is he? Her mother asked.
“He is a gentleman..” She responded with a smile as they walked into the house.
They went in to arrange Thandiwe’s pres£nts.
Patience talked to her aunties for some time before going to shower and changing into something comfortable to sleep in. She kept thinking about Elvin and how he had miraculously appeared, she asked God that night. She asked him why he had allowed Elvin to show up, was it a sign from above?.. She didn’t know but she prayed for a very long time about it. Before she could fall asleep she decided to go to Facebook and found a friend request from Elvin.
“Wow how did he find me?” she thought. Little did she know that the request was s£nt way before there meeting.
Patience immediately accepted the request and shortly a message c@m£ in.
“Someone finally decides to accept my friend request” was the message.
Patience blu-shed and quic-kly responded.
“You s£nt it a long time?”
They soon got chatting online and he finally asked for her number which she did not hesitate to give him. The first thing she asked when he called was how come he had lost her number.
“I respected the fact that you were married”.. He responded.
“I see well am glad you did that, he was really looking for every reason to blame me…” she said.
“Let’s discuss him later, I want to talk about you… that’s if you aren’t sleepy” he said.
“No I’m not but if I do actually feel sleepy, I will tell you”.. She said
Elvin reminded Patience about the Siavonga days and she couldn’t believe how much he remembered. They talked for hours and finally agreed they would actually go to church together the following day.
The following morning Patience bathed and put on a black beautiful dress and wore her favorite perfume “fantasy”. Before she walked out her mother met her in the sitting room.
“Looking beautiful, going somewhere?” her mother asked.
“It’s Sunday today.. Am going to church..” she responded.
“Wow ok, that dress is beautiful.. so you are going to church and after that?” her mother asked.
“Mum let me rush Thandiwe will wake up anytime and you know what that means”. She said.
“Honey don’t worry I left her slee-ping peacefully.. so my daughter .. uhmm.. you look too beautiful to just be going to church”.. Her mother said.
Shortly Thandiwe cried out from the be-droom..
“Granny, granny, granny has left me”.. Thandiwe screamed.
Patience quic-kly used the opportunity to sneak out as her mother rushed to Thandiwe. Elvin was alre-ady parked at the gate and he was smartly dressed. Patience’s heart jumped inside but she kept her cool and she entered the car.
“I thought you’re one on of those who wait for the door to be opened for you”. He tea-sed.
Patience bur-st into laughter as she adjust the sit belt.
“Is this telemundo?” she asked as she giggled.
“Well it could be, if you let me catch your heart”.. He said.
“Ok I guess we are running late for church”.. She interrupted.
“Yes you’re right.. by the way you look so beautiful’.. Elvin said as he started the engine of the car.
Showing up with Elvin at church was great, it was even more amazing when they bu-mped into Sam Phili-ps best friend.
“Patience.. My God it’s been long”.. Sam said as he greeted patience after service.
“Sam wow, for sure it’s been ages.. Where have you been?” she asked. Patience was referring to where he had been when things went sour between her and Phili-p.
“I have been around.. I just couldn’t face you.. I heard everything it is well my sister God is doing something great In your life”.. Sam said.
“Did you at least try to talk to him when it all went sour?” she asked.
“Phil!pis my friend but he will regret his decision, keep praying for him”.. Sam said.
Elvin had excused himself to greet his friend when he c@m£ back and found Patience talking to Sam, he quic-kly cleared his throat and Patience turned around.
“Oh sorry, forgive me for my bad manners”.. She giggled.
“No I haven’t been here for long”.. Elvin said.
“Ok Sam meet Elvin and Elvin meet Sam a friend from UNZA’ she said.
Elvin smiled and said hello.
“Ok so we go home?” Patience asked Elvin in the pres£nce of Sam.
“I was thinking we have lunch first then home”.. Elvin responded.
Sam bit his l!pwondering what was happening as Patience and Elvin exchanged glances at each other.
“Sam I will see you around, let me run” patience said as she shook Sam’s hand.
“Ok see you around’.. He responded.
Elvin then held Patience’s hand as they walked to the car. Sam stood staring until Patience and Elvin entered the car and drove off.
“I noticed that” Elvin said.
“Noticed what?” Patience asked
“You were really trying to prove a point”.. He said.
“Am so sorry I hope I did not make you uncomfortable, he’s Phili-ps best friend”.. She said.
“Its fine.. You did well am proud of you” he said.
She took a sigh of relief and then laughed.
“What’s up? Mind sharing the joy?” he asked.
“I’m just relieved that’s all, anyway let’s not talk about it anymore”.. She said.
They went to have lunch at a beautiful restaurant and talked a lot. It was all joy and laughter but it was a totally different story on the other side. Phil!phad just received a message from Sam.
As Sam was about to start his engine re-ady to drive out of home, Phil-ips howed up.
“Well, well, what do I owe this visit?” Sam asked tea-singly.
“I can no longer visit my best friend?” Phil!pasked as he got out of the car.
Sam turned off the engine and walked out of the car.
“Let’s go in”.. Sam said.
“So you met Patience?” Phil!pasked.
“Oh so that’s the reason you are here?”.. Sam said.
“No it’s not like that man, I’ve just been busy”.. Phil!presponded as he sat down.
“Busy ma-king weddings?” Sam asked.
“Man we talked about that, I couldn’t s£nd you a card Tisa was in charge and the cards were limited”.. Phil-ips aid.
“So limited that your best friend got none?” Sam asked.
“Man why are you coming at me like that?, we are still best friends and always have been”… Phil!pinterrupted.
“oh I bet we are”.. Sam responded as he changed the channel and then sat down opposite Phili-p.
“Man you have disappointed me, Phil!phow could you leave Patience the lady of your youth?. She knows you better than anyb©dy else. You people c@m£ a long way”… Sam said.
“She was all I knew, I nee-ded to explore and I realised that I was missing a lot and you know Tisa just had everything I wanted. I tried to stay with Patience but I was seeking Tisa with all I have and then she gave me twins and I just couldn’t leave her”.. he said
“wow Phili-p, you are so unbelievable’.. Sam said as he shook his head.
“Anyway yes I met Patience she was with a very good looking gentleman, they looked happy together so at least that’s a positive”.. Sam said.
“Am sure it’s her workmate” Phil!presponded.
“Well that’s for them to know, all I know is that she was glowing and I was impressed. I haven’t seen her look any better”.. he said.
“I guess she is coping then, I mean she has a divorced friend to help her deal with her heart break”.. Phil!presponded rudely.
“Are you really going to sound that cold?” BY the way which friend is that?” Sam asked.
“Nonde, Nonde is now divorced”. Phil-ips aid.
“Wait? Nonde unza? I mean Nonde Patience’s former roommate at unza?” Sam asked.
“Yes the same famous Nonde from that group of theirs”.. Phil!presponded.
“Why do you seem so excited? You still like her?.. Even after she’s been married?” Phil!pasked rudely.
“Unlike you I can sp©t a diamond when I see one”.. Sam responded.
“Yeah right!.. Diamond indeed”.. Phil-ips aid
The guys watched soccer together then finally split ways.
Patience spent most of her afternoon with Elvin and he dropped her home just after 16hrs. They agreed on meeting the following day for lunch”.
“Wow church was long today?” her mother said as she unlocked the door.
“it was great mum you had no idea”.. Patience responded as she blu-shed.
“Wow I knew it would be great because you rushed out, you even forgot your car” her mother tea-sed.
Patience bur-st into laughter as she walked to the sitting room.
“Where is my baby I miss her so much” Patience said. Thandiwe rushed to her and Patience lifted her up in the air.
The rest of the week was interesting, it was one activity after the other with Elvin, it was surprisingly how he managed to spare time from his busy schedule.
Finally weeks turned into months and it was now 4months of Elvin being a p@rt of Patience’s life.
Every weekend Elvin took Thandiwe at the pl@ypark and the day would usually end with ice cream and Thandiwe’s favorite pizza.
Elvin had officially asked Patience to be his girlfriend and they were growing much more in love as time went by. What Patience loved about Elvin was the fact that he was so open and he liked to communicate whenever there was a problem.
One afternoon Patience received a call from Nonde saying she wanted to see her urgently. Patience initially had plans with Elvin but she decided to cancel in order to attend to her friend. Nonde had told Patience to meet her at beautiful restaurant in town and Patience arrived there early.
After waiting for almost 30minutes and nearly giving up Nonde finally arrived with Sam. Patience was wondering what was happening as she least expected the two to ever move together. Before they even sat down Patience asked what was going on.
“Patience we c@m£ here together…… I mean we called you to meet us here because we wanted to tell you that we have been d@t!ngfor a while now”. Sam said.
“Wait what? Oh my God I could have never guessed you guys would ever d@t£”.. Patience responded as she smiled in shock.
“I know right?” Nonde responded.
“Well that is not all”.. Sam said.
Patience immediately knew what was about to come her way.
“Don’t tell me you guys are …..”
“That’s right we getting married”.. Nonde said as she showed Patience the ring.
Patience was so excited but she cried heavily, she couldn’t st©p crying and Nonde was starting to regret the idea of surprising her.
“Patience my love are you ok?’ Sam asked as they tried to dry her tears.
“I am fine, I’m just so happy you guys… good things actually do happen after all”.. Patience said as she cried.
Nonde managed to calm her down and they hvgged for a long time.
“Don’t cry sweetie, if God gave a wretch like me a second chance he will surely do it for you my dear. Just hold on to him” Nonde as-sured Patience as they hvgged.
“Amen mama, amen”.. Patience responded.
Nonde told Patience about the plans of having the wedding in two months as they were both not willing to wait any no longer.
Patience was very helpful throu-gh the whole planning process up until the wedding.
Elvin had bought Patience a beautiful dress for the wedding and they went hand in hand.
As the wedding reception took shape Elvin noticed there was a man that stared at Patience for a long time and he was with a woman who he seemed not to be proud of.
“Honey the guy over there looks like he knows you” Elvin said as he made a sign with his eyes.
Patience had a feeling it was Phil!pand she turned around reluctantly. For sure it was Phili-p. However, something else caught her attention. It was the woman sitted next to him.
“Honey that’s him, wonder who that woman is” she said.
“Honey are you really going to be worried about the woman sitted next to your ex?” Elvin said.
“no honey I didn’t mean it that way, I’m just so surprised because Tisa is very possessive I wouldn’t imagine her letting him come here alone with another woman and then again that woman…. she looks kinda old” patience said.
“She’s young it’s just the b©dy honey..” Elvin opposed.
“Enough honey, lets concentrate on the wedding.. I’m here for my friend not for Phili-p..” she interrupted.
After sometime Patience asked to use the bathroom and she left Elvin. As she was washing her hands after leaving the toilet, she saw from back view the woman that Phil!pwas sitted next to. Suddenly the woman turned around as she started to wash her hands and then Patience had a clear view of her.
“Tisa.. wow.. this is you? I wouldn’t have guessed in a thousand years that this is you” Patience said happily.
Tisa was very uncomfortable and she tried to put up a br@ve face.
“iyo namupwa, what happened to you. Nesha br@zilian shali pwa?” Patience asked jokingly.
TRANSLATION (you have really washed out, what happened to you? You can no longer even afford br@zilian)
Tisa humbly smiled and then greeted Patience. “How are you Patience?” she said
Patience felt like a lot of peace had showered her b©dy and she thanked God inside.
“I am fine Tisa nice to see you after a long time”.. Patience sad.
It was clear to tell something had happened that brou-ght Tisa down. She had gained a lot of weight and it seemed like motherhood hadn’t done her any good, she looked very tired and frustrated with life.

Patience cried so much as she extended her hand to receive the ring. When he sli-pped it on her f!nger they embr@ced and k!$$£d.
“Calm down honey’ Elvin whispered as he held her close.
“I love you Patience and I dreamt of you every night after Siavonga, I constantly asked God why he let me love you when you were alre-ady taken. You coming back into my life has taught me to trust God more in all I do” Elvin said.
Patience had held back for so long, she had never told Elvin how she felt. A lot had been sto-red up inside for fear of what would happen next.
‘I love you too, I always ask what I did to deserve you. You are a blessing to my daughter and i.” she cried.
“Honey she is our daughter now”.. He interrupted.
“Hush my love hush, hold the tears for the wedding”.. he tea-sed.
Patience stayed at Elvin’s home until midnight watching a moving as she they shared the couch. However, he respected her not to t©uçh her.
“Honey I guess its time I dropped you home” Elvin said.
Patience looked at the time and agreed, in her heart she was racing the idea of her mother seeing the ring.
When he parked inside the yard he looked at her and smiled.
“I love you honey”. He said
“I love you too” she said.
“My people will be coming next weekend, is that too soon?” he asked her.
‘no absolutely not, well I will hear what mum says just in case she may nee-d more time to get my dad’s relatives here”.. she said.
“ok honey. Sleep. Greet my angel”. He said.
When Patience walked into the house and turned on the living room light her mother was slee-ping on the couch.
“Mum, what’s the matter?” she asked.
“Nothing is the matter,.. well actually there is a problem”.. Her mother responded.
“What is it?” she asked.
plea-se sit down here next to me, her mother said as she sat upright.
“Ok, what is it mum?” Patience said as she sat down and hid her hands un-der the bag on her l@p.
“Patience my baby you are divorced, people talk. The man you have been hanging around with is good quite alright but you just cant be in a relationsh!pas a divorced woman. You have to be serious and committed. You move around together freely and very soon people will start concluding the rumor Phil!phas been feeding people that you actually left with another man”.. her mother said.
“mum, I love him and that is why I am with him. people can talk quite alright but I know what I want”.. she said.
“But my daughter does he seem serious, like re-ady for…”
Patience quic-kly interrupted her mother as she showed her mother the ring.
“Mum do you mean this” she said as she showed her mother the ring.
“He asked you to marry him?” her mother asked in shock as her eyes wi-de-ned.
“Yes mum today”.. Patience responded.
Her mother immediately knelt down and lifted her hands in the air as she cried in a song
“Who can say a thing and it comes to pas-s? Until the lord allows it”.. Her mother sang.
Patience knelt down beside her mother and worsh!ped with her as they cried.
It was a tou-ching moment, no one could explain the joy that the two shared but it was from above.
Patience then explained to her mother concerning Elvin’s relatives and she agreed to have them over the following weekend.
“Mum I want to start the teachings right away”.. Patience said excitedly.
“No problem my daughter this time you will go throu-gh the full traditional teachings and you will be fully baked for it”.. Her mother laughed.
“Mum we have to pick a day for fasting every week and in fact we have to fast the day before they come”.. Patience said.
“That’s right my daughter, my heart is at peace, I know this is Gods doing. I’m not angry or overwhelmed like I was on your previous marriage”.. Her mother said.
Patience took her mother’s hand and smiled.
“What would I do without you? She said.
Patience immediately called her sisters on a conference call and broke the news to them.
“The excitement in south Africa and America was contagious. All her sister’s accepted to come and even her two immediate older sisters who had initially failed to come for her first marriage confirmed they would be coming from America.
Elvin c@m£ from a family of two children, his older sister was married in the United States and she met with Patience’s sisters as they agreed to fly for the wedding together. Elvin’s mother danced when she received the news of Elvin getting a wife and when he introduced Patience to his mother, she was even more happy and proud and congratulated her son for having such great taste.
Elvin’s mother accepted Thandiwe whole heartedly and the bond she created with Patience’s mother was like they had known each other for years. It was almost like Elvin’s mother and Patience’s mother were sisters from another mother. They were both widows and had similar interests.
