I felt a hand on my shoulder,in the early hours of the morning, i had sle-pt off,its morning a voice followed, opening my eyes I saw the man from last night alre-ady dressed,,, good morning sir,I greeted, good morning ,,he gave me the sum of 50000,and his address, that I should come visit him when I am back from moms place,,,I should come see you?,I asked looking kind of scared,, you said you nee-ded a job right,, well I am in nee-d of a house keeper,the one I have is a teenager, she nee-ds an helping hand…. Thank you very much Sir, I said and left the h0tel…
Getting home,i told Amanda all that happened and she was very surprised he gave me that much without tou-ching me…. I went home to mama,took her to the hospital, and stayed with her until she was fine…I told her all I had experience in Lagos, she was very disappointed in Amanda, putting up such hypocritical act when she comes home,,,mama advised I take the house keeping job rather than been a proustite, but should I not be treated well in Mr Nice place,I should come back home..
Five days on,I arrived Amanda’s place, I thanked her for her help so far,and told her that I have decided to take Mr Nice’s Offer.. She hvgged me and wished me luck in Mr nice place…
I arrived the address,knocked at the door and a young teenage girl of about 11 or 12 opened the door,I figured she was the house keeper Mr nice talked about,indeed she is too young to take care of a house as big as this,good after ma,she greeted, good afternoon,I am Ada,and i would love to see your boss, my boss,she asked, yes I replied ,,he’s not around,he has gone to work,and I don’t know you,am sorry I can’t let you in,she said,I un-derstand perfectly well,,,nevertheless I shall get you a chair to sit and wait for him near the security post,she added,oh that would be very nice of you,,she brou-ght out a chair ,and I sat down close to the security post,she also offered me a pack of jui-ce and snack, I honestly nee-ded that because i was very hungry…
Towards evening,Mr nice arrived, and was surprised to see me,,,,good evening sir,I greeted,,,, good evening,what brings you here he asked in a plea-sant manner,sir I have come to take the job offer,if its not too late..oh I see, of course it’s not too late,how is your mother, he asked,she’s better sir,she s£nds her regards and appreciation over your help,,ohh that’s nothing,come in ,come in,,,we went into the big mansion, the inside was even more beautiful than the outside…
Sandra,Sandra he called,the teenage girl c@m£ out,this is Ada,Our new house keeper,Ada this is Sandra,,,you are welcome aunty Ada,she said,,,tank you very much Sandra,,,I replied, take her to the guest room Mr nice had said and went inside….
Living with Mr Sammy(Mr nice),was very peaceful and interesting,he was nice and treated I,Sandra and the gate keeper Chike like family, Sandra for instance attends a very good school, he asked me to prepare for exams into the university, he takes care of the gatekeeper and his family like they are his,I had never seen such à nice man.He was perfect.
Only one thing was missing in Mr Sammy’s life,a companion, he had refused to get married,nor even make attempts,, his mother comes every now and then to remind him of marriage, but he just doesn’t seems to be interested in that, the only thing he does is business and re-ading of different books…
…..It was a Friday night and the men were having fun as usual in the garden outside,I had served them drinks, Jude held a glas-s of wine and was starring at.Mr Sammy…….
When are you planning On settling down Sammy,you can’t live like this without a woman,Jude continued,,,, yes man,Jude is right,a man nee-ds a woman at some point in life,plea-se man,you gat to start thinking on how to settle down,Dan had added,,,hey guys I thought we are having fun,how did I become the t©pic of discussion…..
Sammy, whether u run away from the t©pic or not,you nee-d to think about it,for yourself and everyone around you,you nee-d a wife…
Fine fine guys,I shall give it a thought,,,Mr Sammy said,hey not just a thought man,but a serious one Dan added….
When the guys left Mr Sammy was lost in thought,the woman he once loved left him,so I heard his mother say when she c@m£ visiting, ever since he had closed his heart to love,he doesn’t seems to be interested in any woman, he wanted a peaceful and quiet life…
Sammy kept having pressure from friends and close family asking him to get a wife,he then decided to open his heart to love again…
Weeks on he went for a business seminar,there he met this beautiful young lady,she looked beautiful, elegant and brilliant, we could say she swept him off his foot…
He went to her after the seminar and they started talking,they also exchanged phone numbers,,,,they started talking on phone, they seems to be enjoying each other’s company,,, Mr Sammy got to know more about her,Gloria is a working clas-s lady ,,and a beautiful young woman,, Mr Sammy thought about her and decided to ask her out …Miss Gloria who is fondly called Glo by Mr Sammy took her time too,and of course had to do some “SHAKARA” typical of an African Nigeria Lady,,Mr Sammy never gave up,not too long,miss Glo said yes to his quest.
They seems to be a perfect peer,they loved each other, and was each other’s world.
Jude and Dan were happy for Mr Sammy,their friend had finally found himself a woman.the couple seems to be very wonderful together.

…Mr Sammy brou-ght miss Glo home to his house, he introduced her to all of us his domestic staff…Sandra ,Chike and me loved her so much, especially Sandra the teenage girl,, Sandra isn’t really an house keeper, she’s one we would call Mr Sammy’s God daughter, she had lost her mom at a very tender age, and her father found it difficult in taking care of her after he remarried, since the new wife wanted her space,.Mr Sammy took her in, takes care of her and treats her like his daughter, Sandra is an intelligent and smart girl, these qualities made Mr Sammy liked her and promised to s£nd her to school to any level, he had explained everything to Miss Glo…She was very happy meeting us the domestic staffs, she was greatly marveled at how nice Mr Sammy’s place was ,his great s-en-se of decoration and everything, simply put, Mr Sammy seems perfect, and she was convinced he was the one….
Mr Sammy on the other hand seems to love everything about miss Glo, the way she talks ,smiles and even her kind nature, she was simply a total package…
Glo living in the house gave the house more warmth, she made everything her own way ,did some changes here and there and was fully in charge…
Glo was a wonderful person except for her temper,, she was very h0t tempered, and wants things done her own way, whenever things aren’t done her own way she seems to have a problem with whoever, another thing was her jealous nature,she was very possessive…and didn’t like anyone taken her space…
Mr Sammy seems to be very concern about us his workers, and that really gets miss Glo upset, Mr Sammy doesn’t go to be-d without checking up on the little girl, he always made sure she had eaten, in fact he was just been a father figure to the teenage girl so that she would be comfortable being away from home,, but unfortunately this didn’t seems to go down well with Glo…
I do not un-derstand why you treat this maids as if they are princesses, especially the younger one, I mean honey, you are too polite to your domestic workers, the gate keeper, Sandra and Ada, for God sake you are the boss dear…..I had heard her complained to Mr Sammy
” I know i am, he replied, but treating these workers well won’t cost much you know,,, we can be a very big and happy family together, more over domestic workers do better when they are been loved and feel protected by the family they are in….mr Sammy said.
So I will be sharing you with your workers? Glo had asked in suppressed anger
oh come of it Mr Sammy said, you are my fiancé and they are my workers, the love I have for you is not the same kind of love I have for them, Mr Sammy explained.
Miss Glo went to be-d, but she had bitterness in her heart against us all.
……we were so uncomfortable living with Glo,she was ma-king life unbearable, but we didn’t have the courage to confront Mr Sammy about his fiancé, meanwhile ,Glo had threatened to deal with us should we try it….
mam, plea-se I am hungry, I would like to eat “Sandra said ,it was past 1pm and breakfast was yet to be served, i had finished cooking, but miss Glo had asked us not to eat
so it’s you that will tell me when to give you your meal, as the madam, she gave her some beatings and warned her never to try that as she will only serve food when she feels like.
I took Sandra as a younger sister, I was so t©uçhed but couldn’t do anything, I consoled the child and told her I would get food for her,, while miss Glo went to take a nap, I served Sandra some food, I tried to level the pot so that it wouldn’t be obvious, unfortunately she knew someone t©uçhed it, i wondered if she had measured it
who t©uçhed my pot of rice” she shouted, I wanted to keep quiet, but I knew she was going to punish Sandra and I if she doesn’t get a response, since we are the only ones with her in the house….
Madam i did
how dare you disobey me, she shouted, landing two h0t sl@ps on my check,,,
ma, the child was hungry, I had toooooooo….
shut up that gutter you call a mouth and get out of my sight..
Little Sandra c@m£ to my room and apologized for all that happened, she was crying saying it’s her fault madam had treated me that way,,,
ño.no, its not dear, I told her…
These went on for some time, the gate keeper couldn’t take it anymore, but had to confront her
“madam, what you are doing is not fair, we are workers in this house, we can not be working on empty stomach, oga sam treats us like family, we nee-d food to be able to worrrrrrrr,, he hadn’t finished talking when Glo landed a h0t sl@p on his checks,
” how dare you talk to me, are you mad, this really got chike angry because he was a full grown adult and a.married man for that matter, taking a sl@p from a lady who probably would be his younger sister’s age mate was very embarras-sing,,,, he looked at her, and told her
I respect oga SAM, that’s the only reason you are still standing in front of me, else I would have dealt with you,, you aren’t a wife yet and you are displa-ying all these, what happens when you eventually becomes Mrs Sam??????…..
My God, so its me you are insulting like this Chike, telling me Sammy hasn’t paid my bride price yet,,oh my God, just know you are finished,,, nothing will st©p you from leaving this house today, you must leave,,go in there pack your things and get out,,,, get out I said ,she shouted
Gloria you can shout for as long as you want, but I am not leaving, you didn’t employ me, oga Sammy did, I shall wait until he returns, he Alone has the right to asks me to leave or not…..
really? she asked,,then we shall see…
Mr Sammy returned in the evening ,only to meet his fiancé in tears
what is it? he asked out of care ànd concern,,
its Chike, your gate keeper, he sl@pped me
what!! chike did what?
he sl@pped me, only because I asked him to wait a little while that food was not re-ady yet…..
Oh my God, this can’t be true, chike sl@pped you, I heard Mr Sammy asked
are you saying am lying Sammy,,
NoNoNo, just that chike has been working here for some time now, and he has never displa-yed such dubious character, am so shocked
are you going to stand here been shocked or you do something about it,,,
don’t worry, I am going to make sure I give him the warning of his life, so he doesn’t dare it again,,,,
warning? which warning, a gate keeper, Sl@pped your woman and you are thinking of warning, s£nd him away, Glo insisted,,, in order to make her happy, Mr Sammy s£nt the gate keeper away….
Then I realised my days in the house were numbered, I bec@m£ extremely careful, so as not to get in her way.
Chike out of the way, made I and Sandra the ones around to take care of everything including the gate, it was a difficult time for the poor
girl n I living with miss Glo, but we better not say a word, especially when Sammy isn’t around, else we will be sorry….
Glo seems to be a heartless persons, but she act so nice around Mr Sammy, high level of hypocrisy,,, one faithful day, a friend of Glo c@m£ visiting and Sandra served her jui-ce, as she was turning the jui-ce, It mistakenly sli-pped her hands and a little poured on the guest,,,,Glo nearly killed the poor child,, the guest Dorcas was pleading on Sandra’s behave,which obvious was a mistake but Glo wasn’t taken it, and this infuriated the guest and she left angrily ….When Dorcas left Glo bec@m£ more angry and blamed Sandra for being the reason her friend left in anger, so she gave her the beaten of her life….
I cried for the poor girl, for she was helpless, and I couldnt do anything for fear of losing my job.

The next day, Mr Sammy c@m£ back from his trip, and Sandra had fallen sick because the beaten was too much….
Sammy invited his doctor friend over, who checked her and gave her certain drugs….
Oh my God, how I love this girl,I have come to love her because you love her Sammy,, why would she fall sick like this. miss Glo was acting again because Mr Sammy was around,,,
it’s well Glo, it wasn’t your fault, moreover, every human fall sick at some point in time…
I would have to inform her father, so he could come over, it also possible she misses him….

Sandra’s father c@m£ the next dày, and was sad to see his child down,,he stayed for some days and watched over her, she had really missed him so much too, the teenager girl hvgged her father so ti-ghtly, I bet there were a thousand and one thing the little girl would have loved to tell her father, but couldn’t because Glo was always around, pretending to be showing care and concern, meanwhile she was just ma-king a show so that Sandra won’t let a word to anyone..
I knew what she was doing to us was wrong and it was high time I st©pped it, I wouldn’t mind been on her black list,I just wanted to keep that teenage girl safe….
I was confused as to who to tell, Mr Sammy or the girl’s biological father…
