My days at crown school episode 35

MY
DAYS
AT CROWN SCHOOL🎓

✏EPISODE, 35👊

âś’I miss her. I miss us

âś’Victor’s POVâś”.

🎓🎓🎓
Everything I could think of was her. All I wanted was to see her, and have a talk with her after many stressful months. So I called the only person who could help me. Yomi Stephen
Dad and I arrived a week before Crown school valedictory service. I thought he never wanted me back to Nigeria until I’m done with my education abroad. I knew the only reason Dad brou-ght me with him to Nigeria was because of a business he was taking care of. And as always, little Victor nee-ds to know what the business is about. But I do not care. I was re-ady as long as I will see Suzy.

The only thing that dominated my br@in was seeing Suzy. Talking to her again was the dream I kept on having and I was re-ady to pursue in real life. I really do not know when we would see again. So I planned to use that opportunity to talk to her for the last time.

Mom did her best to remind me why I was in Nigeria. Whenever I try to hang around or hang out with friends, mom would corner me up.

“To where?”

“Mom I just want to hang out with some of my friends.”

As expected, her voice will become louder when she starts by scolding me. “I pray God will deliver you from friends that does not have a future. You have a future, and you’re here for business. You’re here to work. Not to hang around with some lazy boys in the street.”

I wondered why it has gotten to that?

Since I could not go out, Yomi was always around to keep my company. We were discussing Suzy, not knowing Mom heard. She walked up to us, and threw me some words that could make someone cry till tomorrow.
“If at your age, your Dad was thinking about girls, do you think he would be successful as this today?” She was angry. “I don’t think you know you’re getting old and-”

“Mom, I’m just nineteen.” I cut her off.

“Just shut your mouth. That Suzy of a girl is a distraction to you. I must not see you at that Valedictory service if you don’t want to deal with me.”
“But mom, Suzy has not done anything,” I tried to explain.

“Keep quiet!” She raised her fore f!nger at me. “She is! Ever since that girl arrived, you’ve been acting so irresponsible. So stupid of you to be thinking about a girl at this age. I just want you to be like your father.” She was back to the sweet Mom again. “I want you also to be successful. You nee-d to let your education be your priority, and not a girl. And yes, when you’re done and re-ady for marriage, Betty is there. I know you guys like each other.”

I turned to my side for the only person beside me for saviour. But my dear cousin was on a slee-ping position, laughing quietly with his head turned to other side so Mom won’t see him.
Like seriously, what has Betty got to do with this?

“Daniella is also there. In fact, my friend was just telling me that Gabriela would be coming to your school over there. And I know you’ve always like that fair girl.” Mom smiled.
That was before.
So she should st©p doing over thinking. This heart can love someone else tomorrow. That’s just it.

âś’
Finally when Mom left, Yomi sat up and wi-nk at me. “Bae loves you,” he laughed, referring to my Mom.

“Your father!” I punched him, and he laughed again. “They are just like that Victor.”
I let out a heavy sigh. “That woman.”

“Is your mother,” Yomi completed.

“I don’t think I will be able to cope with a wife like that.”
“My brother, I will die. But Bae was sweet when talking about Gabriela,” Yomi win-ked.

I knew where he was going. I gave him a b!ow for him to just keep his mouth shut. He laughed so ha-rd . His laugh was so loud, and noisy. Somehow, Dad coped with Mom. And yes, I miss my crazy cousin a lot.

On the day of the valedictory service, I had called Yomi to remind him when we would leave. While Mom was dressing up, I was still on my be-d, pretending like I was still slee-ping. I knew what Mom can do, so I would have to be discreet about everything.
“Darling,” she called out for me, opening my door. “It’s morning dear. You can ask the cook to prepare something for you. I’m gone, and I would back soon. I expect you to join your Dad today, or find something good to do.” She closed the door, and after some minutes, I could no longer hear the sound of her heels.
Not wasting anymore time. We have to be there on time before Mom got back. I picked up my phone immediately and dialed Yomi’s line for the second time.

“Mr man, get up. I’m re-ady.” I said immediately he picked up.

“Man, is not even ten o’clock yet.” It was clear Yomi was still slee-ping.

“Yomi, no time. Before you get here. Before we get there. We nee-d to be very fast before Mom comes back. And remember to borrow one of your friends car.” I reminded him.

“Hey, Victor your Mom did not even know I have my own car.”

“Yomi no. Mom will find out. Just borrow one and get here on time. We are not going there to impress anyone.”

“Okay,” he ended the call. I knew it was because Yomi was still feeling sleepy. If not that, someone will be acting crazy right now. I rushed myself inside the bathroom. I don’t think I’ve ever taken a quic-k bath like the one I just took. I wasn’t able to check the time, but I was sure I didn’t use up to three minutes. I brou-ght out one of my best clothes. I really want to look so good.
I thought you’re not going there to impress
someone.
Of course. I look good everyday. So trying to look good again is not to impress someone. I st©pped myself from the thoughts. I couldn’t allow myself to be delayed. As always, I dash out money to those working for us. I gave the gate man more money and explained my plan to him. I was rest as-sured that if something got wrong, or anything happens, he would cover for me.
We drove into the school around quarter to two in the afternoon. When I finally saw Yomi at the door step, I felt like punching his whole face. He wasted my time, waiting for him, and I ended up pla-ying one of the games on my phone to keep me busy. I put on a black shade so people won’t easily recognize me. We parked a bit far from the hall, but close enough for us to hear what Mr. Rafael was saying. I could hear Suzy’s name being called repeatedly. But the last one I heard brou-ght a smile to my face.
She won the school scholarsh!pagain with the sum of one million naira.

I nee-d that kind of br@in.

No. I nee-d all of her.

Yes. I want everything of her.

âž–âž–âž–âž–
I was eager. I was watching everyone up and down, expecting Suzy to walk out of the hall. Moving around in my seat. I was not comfortable, and I was so bored sitting all alone. Even though Yomi was beside me, we didn’t exchange a single word because he was busy pressing his phone. I was bothered, and I was not settled.

After several minutes, or what seems like hours. My vision suddenly bec@mÂŁ clear. She was smiling at a woman beside her, carrying her gifts. I couldn’t st©p myself from smiling at how happy and beautiful she looked. I’ve never seen her in a beautiful go-wn like that. She was beyond beautiful. Her light skin was glowing. That make up. There is something about ladies and make up. They turn more beautiful, more mature, and look big.

She was smiling and looked really happy. I guess that was her Mom. They both have the same fair complexion. The white go-wn fitted and showed everyone her curves. It was too ti-ght if I would say. She shouldn’t have bought something like that. Everyone was staring, and she was smiling like nothing was happening. She was going back alone into the hall when I felt Yomi tapped me.

“Hey, Victor are we just going to sit here?”

I was so troubled on what to do. “God! Yomi I don’t know. You know I can’t just face her like that. I can’t let anyone see me.” I was scared that someone might see me, and spre-ad the news about Victor being around. I just couldn’t deal with mom.
“You know what Yomi, when she comes out again, just block her, and I will think of what to do.”

Yomi shook her head. “This your Bae got you pinned down.”

“Yomi just st©p calling Mom my Bae.”

He laughed. “You’re denying your Bae again,” he said, despite my warning. I was here for real business. But I think I made the wrong decision by bringing him along. We argued over many things since he refused to keep his mouth shut.

“Hey see your Bae,” he said, but I ignored him.

“Victor your Bae is going,” he said again, teasing me with his brows.
I turned to him in anger. “Just st©p this craze okay. It’s not funny, and mom can’t-” the remaining words I was planning to say went down my throat as I saw Suzy walked out of the hall. Her face lit up with a beautiful smile, as she walked slowly.

“Yomi get down alre-ady, and block her.” I shouted, and pushed him down. He laughed at me, and just stood there. “Lover boy, take it easy. I can decide not to go again.”

I glared at him. He can be so annoying sometimes. “Yomi we-tin they do you? Don’t provoke me now!”

“Me, we-tin?” He pointed to himself, feeling superior. “You, provoke? Okay, provoke.” He was smiling. At that moment, I felt like strangling him. Mad boy.

I tried to look back at Suzy, and she was getting far away from us. I knew I had to suc¢v-mb. “Yomi, it’s Victor o,” I reminded him. He laughed, and I saw him run towards Suzy.

He will pay for this. Stupid cousin.

I expected him to be fast with whatever he was saying. But he was busy laughing with Suzy. I texted him again.

âś’’Find a way to bring her at the back of the hall.”
God! He was not checking his phone. I was so mad and angry.
God knows what he was discussing with her.

Check your phone. I wish I could scream from where I was, but it was impossible. From one corner, I saw someone I wasn’t expecting to see. The real Bae emerged from one corner of the hall.

Oh God!

Mom must not see Yomi. She would definitely know I c@mÂŁ. There was no way I could reach Yomi since he was not checking his phone. Was thinking of what to do when he ran back, and entered the car. I glared at him.

“Hey guy, I’m sorry. I waited for you, but nothing c@mÂŁ.” He apologize.
“I don’t nee-d your apologize!” I shouted at him. “Check your damn phone.”
His mouth dropped open after checking his phone. “Jeez! Victor you never said-”

“Just keep it!” I said, and roll down the glas-s. I guess I didn’t know what I was doing. Since I could not talk to her, I decided to just admire her from afar for the last time. But all of a sudden, those two eyes landed on mine, and stay glued. She saw me. She was staring. But, instantly, I knew something had gone wrong. I made a mistake by rolling down the glas-s. I made a mistake by staring. The look she was giving me was not what I expected to see. Someone was feeling bad.

I c@mÂŁ for you.

No matter how I want to, I could only say that to myself.

I could see her eyes fighting of something.
Tears.

I never intended to make her cry.

I was here for us. For her.

“Bae!” I heard Yomi shout. And immediately, my hand found its way to roll up the glas-s. For the first time, I admitted it was my mom. And quic-kly, I exchanged seat with Yomi to drive, before Mom could get any nearer. Immediately, I did the only thing I know how to do best.

I sÂŁnt her a message.

I had a feeling something had gone wrong.
