My days at crown school episode 26 & 27

MY DAYS AT CROWN SCHOOL

📚#EPISODE_26 & 27 ✔

Immediately after the whole celebr@tion, some students were taking selfies with me here and there.

“Suzy look here, look there…” Another group of girls were still saying when I felt someone tapped me from behind.
“Suzy the principal wants to see you in his office,” she said.

I wish I could gr-ab the girl and give her all the k!sses in the whole world. But wait.. What will I give my future husband?
Instead, I blew her a k!ssand quic-kly excused myself from the girls who were taking pictures of me as if I was on the red carpet.

.The only thing nee-ded to make it look like a celebrity show was the red carpet itself. And for the ph0togra-phers, Crown School has enough. Competent and skilled when it comes to taking pictures. As I walked towards the principal’s office, I remembered Mrs. Stephen also talked about seeing me once again. That was my first time of meeting her. I can’t say much about her but she was loved by everyone including me.
She might be fat, but she has a tall height that carries the b©dy well. I knocked on the principal’s office as I got there.
“Suzy is that you, come in..come in,” the principal ushered me in with a big smile on his face.
“Congratulations once again girl.” He gr@bb£d my hand and shook it. “Now, you have responsibilities. I’m sure you know. Suzy the head girl,” he joked. I couldn’t help smiling. He looked forty but with the smile on his face, he was looking like,
Handsome sixteen

Hmm…Suzy!

Haha…
What’s that thought feeling like?

Handsome sixteen or not..

The man is old anyways.

“Mrs. Stephens here wants to see you,” he announced, and I found myself bowing to her as a sign of greeting and respect. She looked at me, and stared at me again as if seeing me for the first time. I swallowed my saliva and stood with confident.

“Suzy right?” she finally spoke out.

I nodded.

“I trust the principal every time a leader is chos£n because I know for you to have been chos£n, they must have seen some good qualities in you,” she said. “I’ve met the head boy, and he’s someone I’ve known for long. But you, I’m sure you’re aware that you are on scholarsh!p.”
I just nodded. I felt somehow though.. Why was she reminding me?
“If you’ve not been told,” she continued. “Every of Crown School prefects who serves well, get a reward from the school. Are you capable and re-ady?” The way she said the words reflected her power and authority she has. But instead of being timid, “Very re-ady!” I replied with the boldness in me. I saw her looked Surprise because I was sure she was expecting me to start shaking like a jelly fish.

Thanks to Dad for teaching me the face and the tone of boldness.

“Very good!” I heard the principal cl@pped and shook hands with me all over again. “Once again, Congratulations!” He was still smiling.

And I was tem-pted

Handsome sixteen..

Suzy?

I haven’t forgotten he’s old.

“Congratulations!” Mrs. Stephens said, stretching her right hand at me. I quic-kly gr@bb£d it, because it was an honour.
“Guess I’m wrong about what I know,” she said.
I heard that perfectly, and if I was asked to say something about this woman, I would say, she’s strict and straight forward. A bit different from my loving, caring, and supportive mom.

“Once again Congratulations!”

I knew I should get re-ady to keep hearing that…

Congratulations!

Suzy, Suzy!

And many more…

“You can leave for now,” The principal said. I turned around, and left his office. Everyone was alre-ady back to clas-s, and I peacefully walked towards my clas-s. As I was going, I heard whispers from every corner greeting me. And an unexpected smile blocking me everywhere.
“Suzy,”
And immediately my teeth was flashing at them.

“Congrats Suzy!”

My Teeth was greeting back instead.

“Suzy I’m happy for you.”

The teeth..

I was exhausted, but finally, I got to my clas-s.

√ For about two weeks, I was stressed out with responsibilities here and there. Both the head boy and I would go on competition even if others weren’t going. It was fun meeting more people though.. But at the same time, the stress attached to it was not nice at all. I coll@psed with a functioning b©dy on my be-d every time I escape from the duties of day.
When I shared the news with Mom, she was full of joy inside of her. She prayed with me, and s£nd me a message each blessed day. She would call and ask how my day went? I always manage to exclude the stress p@rt from it.
And of course, when I announced to the papa himself. The authoritarian father. My papa James. The one that doesn’t joke with my studies. He congratulated me, and at the end of everything. As usual…
“Now that you you’re now the head girl, you should re-ad your books more often. The position isn’t just for anyb©dy, and now that you’ve been chos£n, you nee-d to perform more excellently. Twice better than how you performed before.” He went on and on, but as he was talking, I alre-ady concluded his ending quote.
He never misses it.
I’m still looking for the vaccine…

“Are we clear?”

Gbagaun!

I’ve been waiting for it since.

That’s papa James for you.

If not books, if not about your career, if not about getting you more lesson teachers, then don’t bother discussing it with him. But forever, he remains my expensive silver.

Third term examinations was fast approaching. The time table as always was posted two weeks before the exams. No one was there to warn me before I knew that at this stage, I must re-ad more. Had been going to the libr@ry during the long break that I rarely move with the girls during those period except from Kunmi.
Once I’m back to the hostel, I carry my books and re-ad like I haven’t re-ad the subject before. And during prep, I punched on my calculator solving every problem I l@ymy eyes on each t©pic we treated in mathematics, further maths, physics, and chemistry.
Just like our physics teacher would say, ‘the only solution to any problem is to solve it’. During the two weeks, I concentrated fully on re-ading, and I couldn’t wait to offload and submit.

➖➖➖➖➖📖➖➖➖➖➖📖➖➖➖➖📖
On the last day of the third term exams, I let out a de-ep breath as I dropped my pen. I got up and submitted the last paper for the term. I could see Kunmi at the corner of my eye still battling with the physics questions. The physics questions was tough though. May be very tough would suit it.
It was as if we’ve offended the man. But no matter how tough, my br@in didn’t let me down, because it was something I’ve solved and solved. I rested my back on the wall, and few minutes later, Victoria also c@m£ out looking dull. Guess everyone was affected.

“Hey, what’s with the face?” I asked, but she just mumbled.

“I’m fine.”

I knew the face I was looking at wasn’t fine at all, but I didn’t pester her about it much.
Temi joined us after a few minutes. “Heard you guys have to cudgel your br@in to solve the physics questions? Is it that ha-rd ?”
Victoria and I were just looking.
“Vikky,” Temi tried to call.

“Temi plea-se,” Victoria rolled her eyes.

“I just asked a question,” she said again, getting a rolled eyes from an angry Victoria.
“Just st©p it alre-ady, it doesn’t suit you.” The two were picking words at each other.

“Okay guys st©p!” I raised my two hands. “The physics was a bit tough, but I guess Victoria is not in the mood to answer you for now.”
Kunmi was finally out, with a small smile on her face. “How was it?” I quic-kly asked.

She hissed. “That Crazy man! Is he okay at all for giving us questions as ha-rd as that?”

I couldn’t help laughing at Kunmi reaction. “He almost gave us the whole Nigeria’s problem as if we are the politicians!”
Everyone bur-st into laughter this time around. And I was unable to hold myself either.

“He was asking, change this, change that, wait… We be APC?”
Haha…

Kunmi almost injured everyone standing with laughter. Basket mouth (A comedian) nee-ds to pick up this girl. Everyone was laughing, and I was glad the atmosphere changed. Both Temi and Victoria were holding themselves alre-ady.
“I’m done and Promoted!” A scream c@m£ behind us, and we saw the crazy Debbie moving with dancing steps.
We all screamed at the same time, disturbing the peace of people around.
“That’s true,” Temi said in her tiny voice. “Suzy will be leaving now.”

“Aww, we will miss you,” each of the girls were hvgging me as if I wasn’t going to come back to Crown School again.
“Suzy, your Dad is around in the waiting hall,” a girl informed me, and immediately, I said my goodbye to the girls and found my way to the waiting hall.
Alre-ady spent three terms. Wow! No word could describe my joy for getting that scholarsh!p.

Just an ordinary girl in Abuja, down to one of the best schools in Lagos. Meeting lovely, friendly and great friends.
My love for Kunmi can’t ever be compared. She was my first friend, and I prayed God see her throu-gh. Victoria was someone whom my heart find as-surance in talking to. And of course, Temi has helped me improved my spoken English. Debbie was the one with the funny character, that never cares who watches or listens.

Even when my mind tries to forget this person, my heart scream, and still wish to hear from him.
As I almost reached the hall, my heart screamed…

I miss you Victor Stephen.

The term was still fun without him, but the term would have been more great and exciting if he was still around.

I miss you Victor💏

√ Finally, I arrived home. Dad saw my result, and I could feel this great happiness and joy in him. He hvgged me, and congratulated me for the post of the head girl.

“Very good!” He commented, while checking my result, and he asked me, “what do you want for this summer?”
It was as if I felt the angel of God ministering to me.

Let me guess..

Head girl things on point

Or wait…. The result is doing wonders?

I didn’t hesitate to shout that I wanted a Tab phone. My Dad didn’t think about it twice. He nodded and congratulated me once again.

I screamed at the t©p of my voice when I met sister Blessing at home. Actually, the shout was exaggerated because of the Tab Dad was going to buy me. I was happy, even though she annoys someone sometimes. She gave me the gifts she bought for me when I told her I was chos£n as the head girl.
We talked, and gisted about many things. For about two weeks of staying at home, Dad didn’t discuss my lesson clas-s or ask if I was re-ading. I checked Victor on his Facebook account, but since he left Crown school, he has not been active.
I was in my room taking my Golden morn when my sister just walked in.

“Dad just told me to take you whenever I’m going back to Lagos,” she said.

She just said it bluntly!

And my scream almost blocked her ears badly!
And I managed not to pour the whole Golden morn on my be-d. I cooled down a bit. “Sister Blessing is this a joke or you just want me to scream for nothing?”
She laughed at my madness. “My God! Suzy are you alright at all?”

She cannot un-derstand. .

So I did not bother explaining myself. For the last time, I looked at sister Blessing again. “If you’re joking with this, just st©p it now.”

She wasn’t bothered by my command tone. Instead, she just laughed. “He said Mercy’s birthday is coming up, and her mom had told him about it.”
Yes! It was confirmed!
I remembered Mercy’s mom said it the last time she c@m£, but I never knew Dad would allow me. And before I knew it, a song popped out of my mouth.

🎵🎵 Olowogbogboro is turning things around.
🎵🎵 Olowogbogboro is turning dad around.

The only voice I could hear was my voice because I was singing with the whole of my heart. But somehow, somehow, I could hear sister Blessing’s laughter from the back ground ma-king jest of me.

She thought it was funny because she alre-ady had
her freedom from Dad.

After I was done, she was still laughing. “Hmm.. There is something you aren’t telling me?” She joked. “Are you this happy because of Mercy’s birthday or hmm..” She ended it with laughter again.
She can laugh ehnn!

I just kept quiet, and when she was done laughing, she left my room.

It is going to be fun!

I screamed inside of me.

And happily, I packed the little Golden morn that poured on my be-d inside the cu-p, and headed to the kitchen. The good news deserve another round of Golden morn to my stomach.
