My days at crown school episode 24

MY Days At Crown School

➖➖➖➖

#EPISODE_24

It’s been three days, and I haven’t heard from Victor. I tried calling his number, but it wasn’t going. I asked Victoria if she heard anything about her brother. All she said was for me to give him some time. To be honest, I was worried.

Has he forgotten about me?

No Suzy, calm down.

How can I?

Holding my phone ti-ghtly in my hands, I couldn’t dial his number because it kept telling me ‘the number you dial is not reachable’. I miss him, I miss his voice. God! I just want to talk to him. But it seems like he has forgotten me so quic-kly.

“Suzy.”

I looked back in shock. The room was quiet, with everyone busy with their works. So I wasn’t expecting my name to be called by anyone in the room.

“why are you like that?” Victoria asked with a look of concern on her face. “Well, someone wants to talk to you,” she said.

“Someone!” I checked the number. It was an international number. I held it closer to my ear. My heart was beating very fast. I really do not know why?

“Hello,” I said, but got no reply.

“Hello, this is Suzy talking,” I repeated.

“Suzy.”

The person finally spoke up. The voice I heard made me got to my feet. My eyes bec@m£ watery. p@rt of me was happy, while p@rt of me was sad too.

“Victor is that you?”

“Hi my n@ûghty girl.”

I smiled, as a tear pricked down from my eye. “I miss you crazy boy.”

“Really,” he tea-sed, and my two eyes which were full of tears finally rolled down my face.

“Hmm.. thought you’ve forgotten me so quic-kly since you refused to call.” I said impatiently, getting a quic-k laughter from him.

With a cool, quiet, and slow voice, he said to me. “How can I forget someone who drives me crazy. Someone who always find a way to make me smile. Is it her smile? Her cutel-ips when she pout? Her hilarious jokes? Well, I miss her like crazy. I miss my pretty n@ûghty girl.”

I couldn’t st©p the tears from falling, while I was blu-shing the whole time too. His sweet words triggered my heart more and brou-ght a bright smile on my face which I couldn’t hide.

I laughed. “Hmm.. s£nior Victor thanks for your sweet words. Can I talk plea-se?”

.He laughed. I could imagine how bright his face looked. How happy he looks whenever we are together. “He’s dying to hear you say it.”

I laughed.. what I’m I saying?

I was pouting myl-ips not to laugh too ha-rd . “Okay. Mr. Victor how you doing,”

“Excuse me!” he said, probably surprised.

“I said how are you doing Mr. Stephen?” I repeated.

He laughed really ha-rd . He almost blocked my ear. I knew he was expecting a ro-mantic speech in return. I purposely said that to him.

“Sister Suzy.”

“Brother Victor.”

“Will you just let me talk.”

“But I’m not yet done s£nior Victor.”

He laughed again. “Now I’m feeling so old when I’m just only eighteen. n@ûghty girl.”

“I heard that crazy boy.”

We both laughed at the same time. “So, Mr. Victor-”

He cut me off. “Suzy treat me nice and call me something sweet.”

I couldn’t hide my smile as I shook my head. He was acting like a child.

“Something that would bur-st my br@in. Make my head swell pretty.”

My eyes was glittering with tears and a bright smile plastered on my face. I couldn’t hide my blu-shing face. So what should I call him?

Honey? That’s old fashion.

Sweetheart? Too common.

Sweedy? No!

Okay this will do.

“Hi sugar, your n@ûghty pretty girl miss you too. I was thinking of him coming over to steal a k!ss, and I miss his text messages too. May be he has met someone prettier in these few days.” I paused. And smiled to myself. “I miss you sugar.”

With his ever S-xy voice. I could imagine him blu-shing. “Really my sweet milk!”

“What the heck!” I laughed slowly. “What type of pet name is that?”

I could hear him laughed a little before calling me with my usual name. “Don’t get mad my n@ûghty girl. Just wondering what would compliment the sugar.”

I smiled, rolled my eyes like he was there. I was finally able to remember Victoria was still there when I heard her heaved a sigh.

“Didn’t wish to end this call, but Victoria nee-ds to have her phone back. You can just call mine. And why are you calling with an- ”

“It’s okay,” he replied, and immediately the call dropped. Wanted to ask why he called with a foreign number, but he cut me off. Well it was nice hearing his voice again after some days. I wiped away the tears clinging on my face and smiled at Victoria, giving back her phone.

With a look of surprise on her face. “Wow! We really nee-d to talk one of these days. Suzy you can’t let your heart betray you. Are you in love with him?”

I just smiled. I couldn’t say a word. Victoria and I do talk but there are some things I would definitely want to keep to myself. This guy was her brother and I must be careful of the things I say, but she doesn’t act like she was Victor’s younger sister. I Expected her to be protective but no, I was the one she was protecting instead.

She got up from my be-d. “You see Suzy, you’re my friend. I won’t f0rç£ you to tell me anything. But I want you to know that I’m always available. I love you, and I don’t want to see you having any heartbreak. He’s a guy. They are very good at hiding their feelings. No matter the pain, they break throu-gh. But for girls, it sometimes ha-rd . No matter what, I want you to be able to get throu-gh whatever happens. Don’t give up, and at the same time, don’t f0rç£ it.” she concluded and I couldn’t help but smile.

We would definitely find a day to sit down and talk, but not now.

“Can I ever st©p loving you?”

She laughed. “Are you sure that was meant for me?”

I chuckled, and got up, hitting her shoulder. “Of course. That was meant for Victoria Stephen,” I as-sured her.

“Hmm,” she smiled and hvgged me. “I prayed he never finds his true love again, because I want you for myself. And that’s because I love you more.”

I almost cried. But I smiled instead, and finally, we re-leased each other. She win-ked at me and left. I couldn’t help but think about everything she said. Her advice always turns out to help. She talks as if she knew what would happen soon.

The next day. Sunday for all, as the house mistress would say. Was alre-ady in the dinning taking breakfast. Our test was starting the next day, and we haven’t seen or heard from Kunmi. Always worried about her. But whenever I tried her number, it was either not available or ringing without anyone picking. One of the juniors c@m£ to call me that the house mistress would love to see me.

What could that be?

Its been long I talked to the house mistress, so I wondered what could be the problem. Marching forward to her ap@rtment, I knocked twice before the door was finally opened.

“Suzy,” she smiled at me, and c@m£ out to me. “I s£nt for you because your friend is around.”

“My friend? Which of them? Or you mean…”

Oh no!

I turned around, and just began running.

who could ever believe that?

Kunmi was back!

“First gate. Meet her at first the gate!” I could hear the house mistress’ voice yelled behind me. First gate of the school was far and not so easy to trek. But I kept on running.

Kunmi was back!

My friend was back!

I was so happy. She never returned my calls though. I wouldn’t let that get the best of me. From afar, I saw her with a fat woman, as I moved closer, it was a bit ha-rd recognizing kunmi. She was lean, and looked so dull. Not looking like my Kunmi.

Was she sick?

When I got to her, we both hvgged each other happily with so much strength in us. A lot was going on in my mind, but I kept on smiling.

“Mom, meet Suzy, the girl I always talk to you about.”

Her mom smiled lightly towards me, and warned her daughter against something I had no idea of. Her mom was short and dark in complexion, also using glas-ses like Kunmi. Her hair was weave all back, with little grey hair showing. Guessed she was much more older. Kunmi wasn’t as big as her Mom in shape. Her Mom entered her car and drove off, while we both pack her things together and carried them. When we got back to the hostel, everyone had gone to church.

We went straight to the room and settled in her corner. Helped her with her things, and arranged it together. A picture of a man who looks like her fell on the ground, and immediately she picked it up and kept it somewhere else.

“who’s that? Is that your Dad?” I guessed, and he nodded.

“Hmm,” I cleared my throat. “Kunmi what happened to you?

I made sure to keep my voice lower even though there was no one in the room. “You’re so lean. What happened to you? Are you worried about something? You know you can tell me. Trust me plea-se,” I said, but only for her to bur-st into tears.

“Su..zy..,” she stammered, “Suzy.. I don’t know how it happened. How would you feel if your world was taken away from you? How would you..feel? I can’t think. I don’t know what to expect anymore…” She cried. “Suzy, I lost my Dad.”

“My Dad is dead!”

My b©dy was stiffened, and I couldn’t say a word. I could feel a tear pricked down at the corner of my eye. I never thought of hearing that. I wasn’t sure I heard that clearly.

Did I hear that clearly?

✅✅✅

Ever since Kunmi told me about her Dad, I’ve not being able to come out of the shock. No matter how strict my Dad is, I never wish to lose him. God! If that should happen, I would faint and never wake up again, because no man can ever take his place in my heart.

Everyone welcomed her when they all c@m£ back from church. Victoria, Temi and Debbie were surprised to see her back. Guess they noticed she had lost weight too. She warned me not to mention anything about what she told me.

She told me she was on scholarsh!pbecause her mom, and her Dad’s family had concluded that she won’t be coming to Crown school anymore since her Dad who pays for it had died. But luckily for her, she was visited from the school, and implored her mom to plea-se allow her to keep coming because they knew if her Dad was still alive, she would definitely finish from Crown school.

Kunmi and I had been busy together. I managed to explain some of the t©pics we’ve done in mathematics, physics and chemistry. While she re-ads other subjects using her textbooks. Since the day we started our test, we’ve been re-ading together. Everyone who saw her on Monday was delighted, and she was able to laugh with them. She cheered herself up, and I was happy for her.

“St©p everyone! Your time is over!” The supervisor in our clas-s shouted for everyone to st©p, but I could see some of my clas-smates writing as fast as they can to complete whatever it is they were writing.

“I said st©p!” She shouted very louder this time. If you’re caught, it is minus twenty from your score.”

Guess what? knowing what Miss Jen was capable of doing, they immediately st©pped writing. We all submitted. Our last paper for the third term test was finally done. Wednesday was finally over. The test lasted for three days as always. Both Kunmi and I walked out of the clas-s. “Thank you so much Suzy. if it weren’t for you, I really do not know how

I would have done the test.”

I smiled slowly, and hung my school bag on my shoulder. “I will pretend like I didn’t hear that. But I want you to know that’s what friends are made for. To help and to as-sist one another. Now give me a hvg,” I quic-kly added when I realized she was about to cry. “You know how nosy people are. Just wipe away that tears if you don’t want the whole school staring at you.”

She laughed, and re-leased me. “I’m glad you were given a scholarsh!pto Crown school. And I’m blessed the day you asked me for time table, because if you haven’t asked, we might not be friends today. Thank you so much for being my friend.”

I couldn’t hide my smile. My head was swelling big time, and all I could do was moved closer to her and gave her another hvg.

Everyone was back to the hostel. We were given two days for mid-term break as usual. Some had gone home. Some were still waiting to be picked up, while some were still packing their things. Have alre-ady re-moved my shoe, but trying to re-move my uniform when I heard my name being called.

“Suzy.”

I looked back to see Kunmi with a small travelling bag. My eyebrows sh0t up. “where to?”

She smiled. “Home. Mom is around.”

“For real! You just c@m£ back Kunmi.” I put on my sli-ppers.

“Same thing I told her Suzy, but she wants to watch over me all the time. Now I nee-d you to esc-rt me. She wants to see you.”

“Okay.” I collected her bag instead. She refused, but I insisted. We got to where her mom was. When she saw me this time, she happily smiled and hvgged me ti-ghtly. “My daughter, thank you so much. Kunmi has told me everything. God will not leave you when you nee-d him the most. The Lord will continue to be with you and uphold you…” The prayers went on that I had to steal a quic-k glance at Kunmi who was just smiling.

“Your destiny will not be ab-orted. Friends that that will destroy your destiny, you will not come in contact with them. Peace be with you my daughter.” At last, she ended her prayers, and I said a very big ‘Amen’. I bade Kunmi goodbye as they both entered the car. She waved at me, and said “goodbye”.

“See you on Sunday,” was the last thing she said before her mom drove off.
