💜 Iris’s standpoint 💜

I threw my bag at Montana as I walked into the foreroom, the girls were behind me laughing over my b©dyguard who had a weird shaped head. His face was square and skull shaped like a table. Even I laughed the first time I saw him.

‘Good afternoon, miss,’ Montana greeted Melody. ‘Good afternoon Miss Kendricks,’ Hailey waved her off while Lee just laughed as she plopped herself on one of the chairs. ‘I suppose you all had a wonderful flight?’ Montana asked, fearfully stepping away from Bluey as she strutted in.

‘Wonderful,’ Lee grinned. ‘Got any sweet? Mama nee-ds some candies y’all!’

‘I knew you would want to eat down my house, so I ordered the chefs to prepare you a gingerbre-ad house and Spanish orange cake, it’s in the… And she’s gone.’ I laughed.

‘What I want right now is a cu-p of very cold water, can you get it for me?’ Melody asked tiredly.

‘Of course, miss…?’

‘Just call me Melody, I hate the miss.’

‘Don’t waste your time, they will never call you by your name, trust me I tried. It worked only for three minutes and they went back to calling me Lady Hilde,’ I rolled my eyes. ‘Get her ice tea and Hailey a glas-s of any French wine in the bar, I’ll take Lambrusco or Soave, do we have it?’

‘Yes, ma’am,’ she bowed and turned to leave.

‘Make mine Zinfandel,’ Mel said with a polite smile.

‘Where’s Moira?’ I asked with concern.

‘She is asleep, the doctors gave her some drugs. Moira’s admission is in two days…’

‘Urgh,’ Hailey gro-an ed. ‘Too much talking, just get me my drink before I pas-s out.’

‘Alright.’ Montana curtsied before walking out.

‘So,’ Mel curled her legs un-der her as Bluey sat un-der her feet. ‘Tell us about what you have been up to here, what’s up?’

‘Work, just work and work and work, I feel like cra-p.’ I said pla-yfully. They laughed.

‘You’ll get use to it,’ Hailey smiled. ‘So what are you wearing on that day? I alre-ady have a nice dress, you know Melody’s older sister is a designer, she is going to let us choose from her latest designs. We will be the first to wear whatever we choose, do you want in?’

‘I would have loved that, but the queen s£nt me a dress for the occasion,’ I said sheepishly. ‘As a “welcome to the family” pres£nt, wanna see it?’

‘Er, yes we do!’ Mel skrie-ked. ‘Does it glitter? What color is it?’ She asked excitedly.

‘Since the theme color is white and gold, she got me a white peac0cklike dress so I would look like an angel with wings, I’m to wear it with golden heels and had a jewelsmith make special jewelry for me. It feels so odd but so amazing, isn’t that fabulous?’

‘I’m jealous,’ Hailey pouted. ‘Let’s go check it out, come on!’ She stood up and started heading to the elevator. Melody stood up too, sniffing the air with a odd look.

‘Can’t be, right,’ she murmured to herself.

‘What?’

‘The cologne in the house, faint but I can perceive it, smells like someone I know, but I’m sure it’s a coincidence. He must have changed his scent by now.’

‘Who?’ I asked, feigning ignorant.

‘That is a story for another day,’ she smiled. She shook her head and ran to the hallway where the elevator was, Hailey was impatiently waiting for us.

Three hours later we were in my room, the girls had taken their bath and changed into something more comfortable. Then they went throu-gh my wardrobe, checking out all my cool clothes and jewelry. Melody seemed uncomfortable, Knight’s cologne was disorientating her, she could perceive him but wasn’t sure if he was really here. I intentionally sprayed it around the house before I left. We sat on my be-d now, sitting round two big bowls of chocolate ba-lls and crackers and drinks while listening to Lee talk about what happened with Johnny when she went to see him, they were d@t!ngnow. My room was a mess. ‘…and then I ran for my dear life, that was close,’ Lee said with a de-ep breath.

‘So the issue is that you don’t want to have S-x with Johnny?’ Mel asked as she threw more chocolate ba-lls into her mouth.

‘No…I mean yes…er…I don’t know, I don’t know what to do, I got terrified and…and…and…’ She held her che-st. ‘I never thought about S-x with him before…’

‘So why did you d@t£ him?’ I asked, looking at her with a knowing smile.

‘I like him a lot, I really do but I don’t think I like him enough to sleep with him, at least not yet.’

‘So, you think avoiding him will be better?’ Hailey snorted. ‘Aren’t I slee-ping with Jet?’

‘You are d@t!ngJet now?’ I g@sped.

‘My own story will start, let’s deal with Lee’s first.’

‘Look Lee, I might not have a very good experience with relationsh!pbut I know enough to tell you that you can’t d@t£ Johnny without doing that thing, he is a active guy you know, and you like him.’ Melody didn’t even know what she was saying.

‘What this two confuse ladies are trying to say is that I want you to trust your instinct, trust your heart in this one. You like Johnny but you don’t like him enough to sleep with him just yet, your relationsh!pis young and still growing, build it on love, trust and knowledge instead of S-x. Hailey, you say you are slee-ping with Jet, that is different. You alre-ady have a lot of S-xual relationsh!ps before and you knew Jet as well, you have been friends for years so you alre-ady know him like the back of your hands, Lee only met Johnny two months ago, this is her first relationsh!p. You have more experience, she don’t. I vote for your idea, talk to Johnny about it, tell him you are not re-ady yet for it and don’t snub him, okay?’ She nodded, wiping her eyes.

‘Thanks Iris,’ she giggled.

‘Now, let’s talk about Hailey, Jet?!’ I exclaimed.

‘Yeah, we started d@t!ngweeks ago, he is very nice and very good in be-d,’ she wiggled her brows at me. I laughed and picked up a handful of chocolate ba-lls. Hailey started narrating all that happened, how it happened and how he sleeps with her almost every night. Melody narrated how Jet coll@psed at the sight of Bluey, the beautiful menace.

‘He is a coward,’ I laughed. ‘So, what’s up with Hans and Violet?’ I asked earnestly.

‘Are you still mad?’ Lee pouted.

‘Still jealous but I can manage,’ I smiled. ‘I planned on paying him back but I failed,’ I sighed.

‘I think you shouldn’t do that, Hans is yours either way,’ Hailey said with mouthful.

‘I know we are betrothed,’ I said with a mutter. ‘I just want to pay him back, want him to get jealous too.’

‘Did you see him when he saw you and you know who? Hans almost freaked out!’ I blu-shed and bit my lower l!pat Hailey’s outbur-st. ‘You don’t nee-d to make him jealous, Hans loves you alre-ady.’

‘How sure are you?’ I asked with a dramatic sigh. They laughed. ‘I don’t know if it is love, but I know it is something else. I just want to see him again and know what we are, I really nee-d to.’ I still had to find out where father’s secret facility is.

‘Whatever you are, I’m sure you and Hans will be fine,’ Mel smiled. Knight kicked my room door open, his eyes fixed on his phone as he typed. Melody froze, her mouth dropping open.

‘Hilde, did you use my perfume? It’s everywhere,’ he said, chewing his gum nosily. Bluey snarled, her claws coming out. Knight froze, his thumb freezing in the air. He slowly raised his eyes and looked at Bluey, a ha-rd gulp following.

‘Iris, what is he doing here?’

‘He is my cousin,’ I said, stifling a giggle.

‘Why is he here? I thought he wouldn’t be around,’ Mel growled in distain.

‘He is as-sisting me…’

‘I refuse to be in the same house with him!’ She thun-dered. ‘It’s either I leave or he does…’ Bluey supported her outbur-st with another snarl. ‘No, I will never leave, he must get lost!’

‘Melody,’ Knight said shakily.

‘Don’t Melody me, get out! Get out! Get out!!!’ She roared, throwing chocolate ba-lls at him. ‘Out!!!!!!’

‘Melody calm down,’ Lee pleaded, trying to t©uçh her.

‘Don’t t©uçh me,’ she snapped with hands up. ‘I want him to leave or leave,’ she repeated with a harsh calmness. ‘Iris, tell him to leave, now.’

Wow, she does despise him.

‘plea-se,’ Knight whispered. ‘I will leave, just don’t leave…’ He turned to leave. He held on to the doorframe, gripping it ti-ght. I knew him, he would never leave because he is very stubborn, too stubborn. ‘No,’ he said coldly. ‘There is no way I will leave my own great grandfather’s house because of one unforgiving bit-ch,’ he turned around and folded his arms. ‘I’m not going anywhere Melody, the one who nee-ds to leave is you.’

‘Oh yeah?’ She snarled.

‘Yes, you leave.’ He deadpanned.

‘Oh, he is good,’ Hailey purred in a whisper as she brou-ght out a bag of popcorns from un-der the pillow. Lee brou-ght out hers too, they were expecting a show.

‘Bluey,’ Melody barked. Bluey’s claws extended, her eyes turning completely blue. Knight stepped back a little. ‘Make him leave or break his legs.’ She commanded.

‘Er… Should we do something?’ I asked a little bit worried.

‘Shhh,’ Hailey shushed, placing her f!nger on myl-ips, she sat beside me. ‘You are interrupting the movie, here comes the best p@rt…’

‘Don’t come closer Bluey, remember I used to buy you everything you nee-d…’ Bluey walked closer to him in a dangerous menacing belly crawl. Bluey growled a little. ‘Bluey if you hurt me, you’ll get killed… Jesus!’ He shouted, throwing his phone away as she growled.

‘Psst,’ Lee called. ‘This is the p@rt where you run,’ she whispered. And then the mighty roar followed, the roar that shook the building to it foundation, the roar of all roars, the mother goddess of all roars, the queen of queens of all roars. My heart packed her bags and fled to Africa, my head s£nding my vision to the land of vertigo. Invisible cold water poured on me, one that s£nt both fear and quake coursing throu-gh my b©dy.

Conclusion, I temporarily st©pped breathing.

Unlike the story of Jet, Knight didn’t faint, he ran, as in flash in existence run. I held my che-st, g@sping for air. ‘At least he didn’t faint,’ Melody said drily. Lee bur-st into laughter, falling off the be-d in the process.

‘Ow,’ she cried.

‘Iris, are you okay?’ Mel asked worriedly. ‘Hope that didn’t scare you too much?’

‘Are you kidding me! I almost pas-sed out just now! That was terrifying,’ I cried.

‘You didn’t have to use Jet as an example,’ Hailey said poutingly.

‘Didn’t he faint?’

‘Shut up Mel,’

‘Ha! Jet is a chicken!’ Lee laughed.

‘Don’t laugh, you don’t know how Jonathan would react, don’t defend him.’

‘Me defend who, him? I can swear on my life that johnny will die at sight,’

‘Are you being serious?’ Hailey scoffed. I crawled over to the edge of the be-d where Mel stood. I held her hand and smiled warmly, even though I was still trembling.

‘You okay?’

‘I just want him to apologize, why is it so ha-rd for him to?’ She asked rhetorically. ‘I miss him so much,’

‘I think he is good for you, if he wasn’t, Bluey would never have let him come close to you.’ Lee la-id her point and it was so true.

‘True, but why are we like this? Why?’ She wailed. She fell on me, I caught and lowered her down to sit. ‘Why then are we like this?’

‘Some things happen for a reason, to make our relationsh!pstronger,’ Hailey replied. ‘Just see it this way, if you two are ever to get back together, he will never repeat the same thing or even if he does, it wouldn’t be like last time, right?’

‘For someone who is yet to admit his mistake?’

‘He is afraid of rejection, that’s just it,’ I entwined our f!ngers. ‘He is my slave now, I can make him do anything, so instead of driving him away, let’s use this opportunity to torture him if you want.’

‘I want,’

‘Then he is officially your houseboy,’ I declared. Knight will so freak out.

‘Thank you so much Iris,’ she leaned her head on my shoulder while Hailey hvgged her and Lee hvgged Hailey.

‘Anything for a friend, you have helped me a lot Melody, so I will do the same for you over and over again.’

‘For together, we are the Meleyris,’ we broke from the hvg and looked at Lee like she had gone mad. ‘What?’

‘Meley…what?’

‘Mel as in MELody, ley as in HaiLEY and HadLEY and ris as in Iris, brilliant huh?’ She chirped proudly.

‘That is the most ridiculous name I have very heard,’ Hailey said with a disapproving frown.

‘Got any better idea genius?’ Lee asked sardonically.

‘Yes, how about The Beauties and the Numbskull?’

‘Who? Me?’

‘Y…’ Knight screamed from where he was.

‘Bluey! I didn’t mean you should actually break his legs!’ Melody screamed and ran out.

‘The movie continues!’ Lee skrie-ked.

‘Don’t you have anything better to do with your life?’ Hailey asked frowningly.

‘No, do you?’ Lee sm-irked.

‘No, so gossip it is, onward sister!’ Hailey flew out of the be-d and ran out with Lee. I gathered my freaked out heart together and stood up, ran downstairs to see what had happen. Upon reaching the bo-ttomof the stairs – which God will punish by the way – I met the girls frozen. I walked over and looked at their faces; mouth open and eyes wi-de-ned. I looked at the blood trail on the floor, my heart started beating fast.

‘Melody,’ I whimpered.

‘No,’ she snapped out of it with a sob. I sl@pped Hailey’s head and ran unto the end of the blood trail leading to the kitchen. Melody followed me. We all screamed in fright when we saw Bluey eating Knight! Hailey slumped as she screamed, Melody was paralyzed.

‘Oh, that’s where he gets it from,’ Lee chuckled despite the situation. Then Knight stood up laughing, Bluey and himself pla-yed a trick on us. I should have known.

‘It was a trick?’

‘Of course,’ Knight ru-bbe-d her head. ‘She only chased me but ended up l!çk!ng my hand, she was only scaring me but still loves me. Then I convinced her to do this.’

‘Joke?’ My eye twitched. Lee kicked Hailey while Mel glared at them. ‘Mel, it was a joke,’ I said with a cryptic laugh. ‘A fv¢king joke!’

‘Joke?’ Hailey who had woken up said dazedly.

‘Why you…!’ Mel charged at him, he stood up and ran towards me, I quic-kly locked the door. Lee ran toward the backdoor and locked it too.

‘Help! Bluey!’ She was gone, don’t know how but she was gone. ‘Cra-p.’

‘Sit down Knight, let’s talk about how funny this is,’ Mel said menacingly, swinging a frying pan. Lee took a spatula and sma-ck it on her palm.

‘A very long one,’ Knight looked at me for help. I folded my arms and leaned on the door, glaring at him murderously.

‘Knight, re-ady to be the servant of four girls?’ I asked sm-irkingly. He gulped loudly.
