Korede rushed into Mr Humphrey’s house, he had gotten a call from him to meet him at home as soon as possible.
“Korede my boy, how are you doing today?” Mr Humphrey asked calmly.
“You called me sir, what is the problem?” Korede asked p@n-ting heavily.
“Oh there is no problem at all, I got a call from Mario”
“What did he say?”
“They saw Evelyn’s husband entering the h0tel minutes after her best friend”
“What? but how did he find out where she is?”
“Now that is where you come in, you will get Evelyn’s best friend and interrogate her, we nee-d to know if she is an enemy or a friend” Mr Humphrey said picking up his i-pad, “She stays at Brooklyn Estate, G. R. A, go get her” he completed handing korede his i-pad.
“Is she the one in this picture?” Korede asked.
“Yes, she is, I went throu-gh her facebook page”
“Okay sir, I will get her immediately, I hope Mario and the guys are at alert?”
“Yes, they are, am not worried about Thomas and his son taking my daughter, Mario knows what to do” he grinned sadly.
“Alright then, I will be on my way” he replied walking towards the door.
“One more thing Korede”
“What is it sir?”
“We will leave for Bayelsa state after you are done with Evelyn’s best friend”
“To do what Sir?”
“I nee-d to meet with Maxwell’s other family over there, his other wife will have a role to pl@yin all of these problems we are In” he concluded letting out a breath.

Evelyn looked at her phone again, contemplating on whether to place a call to him or not, she had missed her appointment with him all because of her father and Ken. She hissed and threw her phone on the be-d, but just then, it started ringing, she picked it up and “Doc Korede” stared back at her, she wi-de-ned her eyes in surprise, the person she wanted to call was calling her back.
“Hello doctor” she answered fiddling with her Sk-irt.
“Mrs Desmond, how have you been? You missed our section on Thursday, will you come around tomorrow for the second stage of the section” she heard him ask.
“Tomorrow is Tuesday? I have forgotten” she scratched her head.
“Are you sure you are okay Mrs Desmond?” Korede asked.
“Am not fine at all doctor, am pas-sing throu-gh challenges right now, and as for the section, I don’t think I can continue with it” she answered back lying on the be-d with her face up.
“But why Mrs Desmond?, I thought you wanted to have children?
“Yes doctor, I wanted to, but not anymore, I just found out that the person i was doing it for is nothing but a spy fixed in my life by my father” she said but cautioned herself for telling him that.
“What if you come over to the hospital and let’s have a talk, you can let it all out you know”
“Okay doctor, I will be there tomorrow, in as much as I don’t really know you very well, I will visit you tomorrow because I nee-d someone to talk to” she sighed.
“Alright Mrs Desmond, till tomorrow then, take care” he hung up.
Evelyn sighed again as she scrolled throu-gh her contacts meaning to call Georgia and tell her not to come to the h0tel the next day as she would be going to the hospital.

Evelyn hissed continuously as she unpacked her bag, she had gone home only to meet an empty house, she smiled as she remembered the young gynecologist, she had agreed to go home after meeting with him, coupled with the call she got from Georgia telling her to go home as well, she smiled again but was interrupted by a knock, she went downstairs to get the door, on getting there, she met a young woman standing awkwardly and looking around.
She rummaged throu-gh her br@in to know where she had met the young woman, but she was interrupted by the woman as she spoke.
“Hello, am Angela, am sure you are Evelyn?”
“Yes, I am, how may I help you?” Evelyn asked eyeing her.
“Can I come inside at least?” she asked politely.
“Sure you can, forgive my manners” Evelyn said opening the door wi-der for her.
“Thanks, your house is fine” Angela commented looking round the sitting room but winced as her eyes rested on the wedding pictures hanging on the wall in the sitting room.
“Thanks, what do I offer you?” Evelyn asked brushing off the visitor’s reaction on seeing her wedding pictures with Ken.
“Am okay but that is not why I c@m£, I c@m£ to see Maxwell, my husband, I learnt that he lives here” Angela said still eyeing the wedding pictures.
“Sorry, but there is no Maxwell living here, I only live with my husband Ken, I think you c@m£ to the wrong house” Evelyn said getting confused.
“you might know him as Ken or whatever, but his name is Maxwell and he is my husband, we got married six years ago and we have three children” Angela said looking at Evelyn closely.
“I don’t un-derstand, what do you mean? I alre-ady told you that there is no Maxwell here” Evelyn said almost shouting now.
“Calm down Evelyn, this man you are calling Ken, your husband is also Maxwell my husband, he left us at Bayelsa state and c@m£ to port-harcourt four years ago, since then he only visit us at interval” Angela said pointing at one of the wedding pictures.
“So what are you saying, what evidence do you have?” Evelyn asked getting angry.
“Here, feed your eyes, it is our wedding pictures, I know you won’t believe me so I c@m£ with it” she handed Her the albu-m and relaxed on the sofa.
“so what you are trying to say is that we.. ” she asked sniffing as tears gathered in her eyes.
“We are married to the same man” Angela completed it for her.
Evelyn wiped her eyes and looked up at her visitor, and that was when it flooded her memory, she was the lady that she saw in the portrait with Ken and a little boy in her father’s study.
“Wait, that means Dad knew about these all these while and he lied to me, he said you are Ken’s younger sister, are you sure that man is my father? Am going to the house right away, Dad will tell me who my biological father is because am sure he is not in any way my father” she sniffed gr-abbing her car keys as she rushed out of the house with Angela following behind.

Mr Humphrey looked at Korede and Georgia and smiled at them, after interrogating Georgia, she proved to them that she was indeed a friend and she had decided to work with them.
“Angela called, she said we can go to Thomas’ house with the police men because she has left the house with my daughter to see Thomas” Mr Humphrey said smiling.
“Thank God for that, let me get the car key” Korede said as he stood up

Evelyn rushed into the living room to find Ken and her father alre-ady seated discussing what she had no idea about, she eyed and hissed at Ken as she walked past him to where her father was.
“Angela, wh…at are you doi..ng here”? Ken asked stammering.
“Oh yeah Dad, Ken’s younger sister c@m£ to visit, Ken wasn’t around so I brou-ght her here to see you, I never had it in mind to see my dear husband here” Evelyn said sarcastically.
“When did you get home? Her father asked.
“Dad, I c@m£ all the way from Bayelsa state just to see my husband but no one is even noticing my pres£nce” Angela said eyeing Ken.
“My boy, take Angela to my study, I want to discuss with my daughter” Mr Thomas said holding Evelyn’s hand.
“They are going nowhere Dad, what did I ever do to deserve such wickedness from you, you got me married to Ken even knowing fully that he has a family, I asked you before and am asking you again, are you sure you are my father?” she started sobbing from afresh.
“That was why I wanted Ken to take Angela away, I want us to talk in pri-vate” he replied pleading with Evelyn.
“They go nowhere Dad” Evelyn flared snatching her hands from his grip. “Say everything here and now” she glared at him with a red eyes.
“I never knew that he was married, I found out recently, I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want you to worry” he said scratching his head.
“What are you saying now Dad? Were you not the person that blessed our marriage? Didn’t you stand as my father in-law on that day?, why don’t you tell her that you are Maxwell’s father?” Angela sm-irked.
“Wait, wait, waiiit, he is Ken’s father?, I have been married to my own brother and we have been practising incest?, Jesus Christ, Daddy why? You just destroyed my life, am sure that is why am barren, God is definitely angry with me” she cried as she slumped on the floor.
“Am sorry Evelyn, but am not your father” Mr Thomas said eyeing Angela, if it was possible he would have sh0t her right that minute.
“What are you saying now? If you are not my father then whose daughter am I? Who is my father?” she asked tiredly.
“Your father is here” Korede answered from the door way with Mr Humphrey, Georgia and 3 police men standing behind him.
“Doctor, what are you doing here?, how did you know my father’s house” she asked sniffing.
“Evelyn, whatever doctor korede tells you is the truth” Georgia said letting out a sigh.
“Georgia, you too? Can someone plea-se tell me what is going on here? My head is about b!ow off.
“I will explain everything to you my daughter” Mr Humphrey said walking towards Evelyn.
“And who are you?” Evelyn asked.
“Am your father and it all happened 24 years ago, when you were just 4 years old”

24 YEARS AGO
“Tom, I finally won the lottery ticket to America” Humphrey shouted as soon as he entered Thomas’ house.
“Oh, am so happy for you best friend, when are you leaving?” Thomas asked.
“Next week, but the problem I have is who will take care of Evelyn for me” he sighed.
“I told you to get another wife 2 years after the death of Eunice but you refused, now the importance has surfaced” Thomas sneered.
“You know I can never love any other woman the way I love Eunice, getting married to another woman makes me feel that am cheating on her” he sighed shaking his head.
“You are not serious, now who will take care of Evelyn?” Thomas eyed him.
“That’s why am here Tom, you are my best friend, no one can take care of Evelyn better than you, you are alre-ady like a father to her, I want to leave her with you, I promise to be s£nding money as soon as I get a good job” he pleaded.
“Don’t even go there, you know the type of ha-rd sh!pam facing right now and that was why I s£nt my two sons away from home at a tender age, you adding Evelyn will wors£n the condition” Thomas said shaking his head.
“I sold my properties, I will give you the money, just start with it, I promise to be s£nding money plea-se” he pleaded the more.
“Okay phrey, you are my best friend after all” he let out a smile.
PREs£nT DAY
“As soon as I got to America, I searched around for a job but could not see, I suffered for months, years until God finally blessed me, at the restaurant where I was working then, a man c@m£ to eat and forgot his wallet filled with money, I returned it back to him before he could drive off, that was where my elevation started, the man introduced me to exporting business and I kicked off from there, I started s£nding money to Thomas and told him to make sure you never lacked anything, when you were 24, he called and enormously explained that you were living a wayward life, you clubbe-d everyday, stay out late sometimes, he told me that he would advise you to get married, he later called to tell me that you refused to get married, I told him to tell you that he would give you a 100 million alimony payment if you agree to get married, some months later, he told me that you agreed to get married, I s£nt him plenty money for the wedding to be a success”
He st©pped and swallowed ha-rd then continued Immediately. “A year after your wedding, he said you were finding it ha-rd to give birth, he said you were having series of miscarriages, I was pained, I told him to get a gynaecologist for you, after that you didn’t still have a baby, so I decided to s£nd korede, a good gynaecologist, my friend’s wife personal gynaecologist, I begged him to come help you, I talked with doctor swavey, the s£nior doctor at the True vine hospital, he transferred Michael and korede replaced him so as to help you, but he found out that you have no wo-mb and told me to come down to Nigeria, when I c@m£ back, I looked for Michael and interrogated him, he told us everything, how Mr Thomas intentionally planted his son in your life just because he wanted him to enjoy my wealth, and how they were feeding you with ab-ortion pill because he didn’t want you to have children for his son because children wasn’t his aim with you, and how they also re-moved your wo-mb so that you won’t conceive at all, am So sorry for leaving you my daughter, am sorry” he completed as a tear rolled down his face.
“Wait, so I don’t have a wo-mb?, why didn’t you tell me doctor? Why is everyone hurting me? My father left me to America, my foster father planted his own son in my life to ruin me, and the doctor whom I thought was going to be my friend hid everything from me, do you also know about this G? You are my best friend right? Did you also hide everything from me?” she sobbe-d weakly.
“Oh no Eve, I just found out myself” she replied trying to exonerate herself.
“Am so sorry Eve, I was only thirsty for wealth” Mr Thomas begged.
“Officers plea-se take them away” Korede said feeling sorry for keeping things from Evelyn.
