CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE
Gabrielle wasn’t stupid she saw the tabloids and everything being written against Ray.
No matter how badly she wanted to hate him for putting his greed first for his child, she couldn’t do it. She loved her family so much but got sold off because of some stupid inheritance.
It was lunch break and Xavier was still busy so she decided to see them for she also has a few questions she wanted to ask her father personally.
Once she was done with whatever she was doing she left the office and asked the driver to take her to her family’s home.
Took a de-ep breath and rested her head against the windshield and closed her eyes trying to calm her raging heart.
Her fluttered open when she noticed the car had increa-sed its speed.
“What’s wrong Ross? We seem to be moving way fas-ter.” She asked the driver.
“Well ma’am I noticed a car being robbed just by the roadside at gun point. Had to increase the speed so they don’t come after us when they notice we’re riding a fancy car.” He calmly explained and Gabby immediately agreed with him.
Once again Xavier have managed to impress her with the perfect men he employed. They knew how and when to do their jobs.
She knew if he’d not drive fas-ter they would have been stopped.
“Okay then do what you nee-d to do.” She gave him a thumbs and closed her eyes completely unaware of the strange glint that pas-sed throu-ghhis eyes.
He drove skillfully and managed to loose the car trailing them.
Gabby opened her eyes when she heard the engine turned off.
Ross had arrived at Ray Mansion and parked in front of the mansion.
She looked out the tinted window and noticed the butler standing by the car to receive her.
A took a de-ep breath and stepped outta car with a smile plastered on her li-ps.
“Welcome back young miss.” The butler bow in respect and led her inside where the whole family was waiting.
“Thank you Sebastian.” She smiled at him and walked towards the living room.
Her mom stood up immediately she saw her coming.
“Oh my goodness Gabby you’re here.” She mumbled and wanted walking towards her daughter but stopped on her track when she noticed Gabrielle stopped walking.
Gabrielle might looked cold on the outside but inside she was in a emotional conflict with herself.
She looked at her mom who had lost a lot of weight since the last time they saw and couldn’t help but be heartbroken.
“Mom.” She called out and slowly walked towards her hu-gging her in the process.
She might be mad at everyone but the sight of her mother hurt her so much she forgot about her anger.
“I’m so sorry my child I’ve been a bad mother.” She cried hu-gging her ti-ght.
Ray who saw this could only look away and swallow his grievances. Anna was not an exception as she was envious of how Gabrielle was glowing.
She wished she’d not sent her over to Lord Xavier. She probably came to laugh at the predicament.
After the mother and daughter emotional moment Gabby decided to be quick about what she wanted to know.
“Dad.” She muttered and Ray slowly looked at the woman in front of him. For some reason he became intimidated by the sight of her.
“Gabby I…” She cuts him off before he could say anything.
“Don’t.. I would appreciate it if you don’t try to justify your actions in front of me. I only came here for the truth nothing more.” She interrupted and Ray frowned slightly.
“Fine what do you wanna know?” He might as well tell her what she wanted to know if that would make Lord Xavier spare his company.
“Why did you do that? Why do you want to get rid of me so badly? And please don’t even lie to me.” She spoke with a calm expression and Ray shook his head.
He couldn’t tell her why. No matter how much she asks he wasn’t gonna tell her a thing.
“I only wanted your fortune so I could stabilize the company situation and I’m sorry for acting outta greed.”
He lied with a straight face but Gabby had anticipated he would try to lie to her.
She could feel something was off but couldn’t place her hand on.
“Not the answer I want to hear Ray.” She called him by his first name but he couldn’t do a thing about it for she was someone with a powerful backing now.
“I’m sorry but I can’t tell you what you wanna hear. You can hate me all you want but please leave your mom and sister outta this.” He might sound righteous but Gabby knew he was hiding something and the expression on her mother’s face confirmed her suspicion.
“You know about it don’t you mom? ” She turned to her mom who only looked away nervously.
“I’m sorry honey but I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Mrs Monica didn’t wanna open old wounds.
“Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on!” She yelled in a murderous voice shocking them to their wits.
Annabelle snapped and decided to spill the beans.
“Fine you wanna know the truth so badly right? Great he’s not your biological father, do you un-derstand now?” Annabelle spilled the beans for she was tired of hiding it anyway.
Mrs Monica looked at Anna in surprise and turned to Ray immediately.
Did he by chance tell Anna about it?
“What did you just say?”
CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO
Gabrielle felt like her world had stopped moving as she stared at the people Infront of her.
“Mom! What did she just say?” She yelled in anger making Mrs Monica flinch in fear.
“It’s the truth you wanted badly so why are you surprised? You’re the child of a serial killer stop bothering us and go back to your house.” Annabelle further added salt to her injury.
“Annabelle!!” Mrs Monica Called her name in disbelief.
Gabrielle stood up and laughed like a maniac.
“Is it true mom?” She turned to her mom who shivered slightly at the murderous aura surrounding her.
“Calm down honey let me explain please.” Mrs Monica tried to explain herself but Gabby shook her head and moved backwards.
“Does Xavier know about this?” She barked and Ray looked away nervously.
Gabrielle laughed again as a lone tear rolled down her cheek.
“Just the confirmation I wanted.” She shook her head and looked the people whom she loved so much and ended betraying her trust.
She turned around and walked away and Mrs Monica tried to chase after her but stopped on her tracks when Gabrielle spoke.
“Don’t come anywhere close to me. From this day onward I have no family.” She said coldly and walked away.
Mrs Monica fell to the ground and sobbing bitterly.
Gabrielle got into the car quietly and instructed Ross to take her back to the company.
“He sent someone after the lady boss again but the guards and Ross managed to outsmart them without raising any suspicion.” George reports to his the boss who quietly stood by the floor to ceiling window overlooking the beautiful city.
“You have a meeting with a few international investors in few minutes.” George reminded him.
“Where is she?” He asked and George told him she’d stepped out for lunch break.
“Hmm let’s go.” He nodded and left the office with George for his meeting.
Few minutes after he left Gabrielle arrived at the company and rushed upstairs to his office.
Once inside she began going throu-ghall the docu-ments on his desk as hot tears threaten to fall.
Finally she found a docu-ment with the word ‘confidential’ inscribed on it.
A part of her didn’t wanna know what was written inside but another part wanted to know why he’d married her.
So she br@ced herself and opened the docu-ment but what she found broke her heart even more.
Anger, hatred, confusion and dispair wash throu-ghher ad she went throu-ghevery single piece of information on her hand.
Her legs gave away and she fell to the ground in tears.
She felt used and stupid for thinking he’d married her outta instincts.
Gabrielle sat on the cold floor of his office bawling her eyes out.
Everyone single person she’d trusted had betrayed her from the beginning.
Meanwhile Xavier was at the un-derground parking lot ready to leave for his appointment when he received a text from Ross informing him of the situation.
He gritted his teeth in anger and hurried to the elevator.
For some reason the elevator seem to slow down irritating him them more.
“Fu-ck!” He cursed inwardly and after what seem like forever the elevator opened up on his office floor and he rushed over to his office but he was too late.
He found his wife seating on the cold floor staring at the city.
“What are you doing over there?” He loosened his tie and looked at the papers scattered all over his office and he was right. She’d seen the information about her biological father.
“Did you marry me for revenge? ” She ignored his words.
She choose to look at the city to avoid staring at the manipulative man behind her.
“You shouldn’t have seen it.” Was the only thing he said as he took de-ep breaths to calm himself.
“You haven’t answered my question Mr Xavier.” She sounded cold too cold he could ba-rely recognize her.
“Calm down let’s talk about this at home.” He tried to touch her but she moved back in fear.
“No! We’re gonna talk about how you wanted to ruin my life for some silly revenge to satisfy your ego!” She yelled at him for the first as hot tears rolled down her cheeks.
“You don’t know anything about about my Gabrielle. ” He said in between gritted teeth as he tried to control his anger.
Silly revenge? Did she know what he’d to go throu-ghbecause of that man?
“You’re right I don’t.” She dried her tears and ran outta his office ignoring his calls as she walked into the elevator which led her to the un-derground parking lot.
She ran away ignoring the people calling after her. She was lost in her thoughts that she didn’t see the car speeding towards her.
“Gabrielle!” Was the last thing she heard before she blacked out.
