Bethel’s Pov:
I huffed and looked at him.
“What are you talking about? Let me go!’ I said and tried withdrawing my head from his, but couldn’t.
Surprisingly, they started dragging me away and I couldn’t st©p them.
“Let me go!” I skrie-ked as they both held my hand and took me to the so called boss.
They st©pped when we got there.
“What’s the meaning of this?” I asked in a peeved manner as I stood in front of the rogue guy who was smoking.
He chuckled and brou-ght the cigarette down from hisl-ips.
“What’s your name?” He asked after a pause and I scoffed.
“That should be of no concern to you. Just tell your boys to let me go” I replied angrily and scared at the same time.
I mean, they seemed dangerous.
He stared at me for a while without saying a word.
“I like you, and I want you.” He finally said with a leer and my fears increa-sed, but I tried not to show it.
“Well, I don’t like you and I don’t want you. Just let me go” I said rather plea-singly and he smiled and leaned back on his chair.
“You tryna prove ha-rd to get huh?” He asked with a sm-irk and next, he stood up.
Oh, God!
Immediately, a police car drove in – not to our direction tho – but a plaza opposite us.
Thank goodness.
I turned and looked at the so called leader and noticed he also looked diffident.
Without any hesitation, I started run – walking away.
yes, I did and was sure they couldn’t follow me because of the pres£nce of the police.
I ran as quic-kly as I could back to the car and immediately I got in, the driver scorched off.
Gosh! What a scare;
I really don’t know what to do about my shape anymore. It’s always getting me into trouble.
What would’ve happened if the police hadn’t showed up?
I looked at my hand and noticed I was still holding my sauced meat with me. I almost forgot. Still feeling hungry, I leaned back and continued eating from it.
We finally got home and I alighted from the car, feeling really buggered.
I couldn’t wait to go into my room and get some sleep.
I opened the door of the sitting room and surprisingly, I found mum sitting on the couch.
Huh?
I paused at the door and stared at her, feeling surprised to see her there.
She was sitting with her hands crossed, going throu-gh some papers and holding a glas-s of wine in her hand.
I sighed and walked in.
“Good evening mum” I greeted perfunctorily as I got to where she was.
“And where are you coming from?” She asked without looking at me.
Her eyes were still fixed on the papers she was going throu-gh.
“I went for Ryan’s concert…together with Nicole” I shrugged and replied.
“By this time of the night? Do you even know what the time is? Don’t you know it’s risky staying out alone upto this hour?” She asked, now staring at me.
“Well, I had no idea you wouldn’t be slee-ping at the office today. I’m not a ghost” I replied
“Shut up, Bethel. I don’t expect you to be a ghost before knowing the right thing to do”.
“Seriously mum, you wouldn’t blame me for it. I guess you have no idea what I go throu-gh staying at home alone, having no one to talk to. Sometimes, I almost forgot what it feels like being in the company of others and that’s the reason I make use of an opportunity when I see one” I replied rather angrily.
Then she sighed and stood up with the wine in her hand.
“Bethel” she called softly and used her free hand to brush the front p@rt of her hair.
“I un-derstand how you feel. But I want you to know everything I’m doing is for your own benefit. Don’t worry, there’s something big I’m working on and pretty soon, it’ll be accomplished and put an everlasting smile on your face”.
I stared at her in awe, wondering what she meant and she smiled.
“Go upstairs and get some sleep. It’s late” she said and walked away, leaving behind the papers on the couch.
I stood and thought for a while, trying to figure what she meant.
My phone started ringing, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I checked and discovered it was Jackson.
“Hello?” I said on the phone, taking the stairs.
“Bethel, can you hear me?” He asked.
“Yes”.
I opened the door of my room and walked in, sitting on the be-d.
“Bethel plea-se, we really nee-d to talk. I’m so sorry for what happened. plea-se give me a chance to explain” he pleaded on the phone.
“I’m tired Jackson; I can’t talk now”.
“Okay; okay. Why don’t we fix a d@t£ tomorrow. Huh? plea-se. Let’s meet up and discuss”.
I remained silent.
“Bethel?” He called.
“Fine; I’ll let you know when I’m chanced. Good night’ I said and dropped the call immediately.
I took off my sandals and la-id straight on the be-d, feeing so tired to even change my clothes.
The next morning,
I woke up to the sound of my alarm which I angrily turned off.
I sat up on the be-d and itched my eyes, trying to get over the sleep.
Gosh! I still felt so dizzy.
I left the be-d and went into the bathroom to brush my teeth. Then, I went to the dining to check if breakfast was re-ady. I mean, I was starving.
As I climbe-d down the stairs approaching the dining, I saw someone alre-ady seated there.
Huh? Mum?
I furrowed my brows in surprise as I went closer. What’s she still doing here? I mean, I can’t find the last time I woke up and found her still at home.
“Mum…good morning” I greeted with surprise.
“Oh! Bethel; you’re just in time to join me for breakfast. Come on” she said and I scoffed and took a seat, facing her.
She was alre-ady dressed up and it was obvious she’d be leaving any moment from bow.
She was putting on a white trou-ser suit with the upper bu-ttons open, ex-posing her che-st a little.
Well, my mum was a crazy fashion woman. She was very young and pretty and always dressed to kill.
If you weren’t told I was yer daughter, you’d actually think we were sisters because of how young and h0t was. I know of countless billionaires running crazy over her.
Well, the truth is; I’m proud having someone like her for a mother. The only problem is; she doesn’t have time for me.
“By the way, Bethel” she said; breaking the brief silence.
“I want you to get re-ady in time cause we’ll be going for Ryan’s home – coming p@rty tonight’.
I almost spilled tea from my mouth as it hit at me.
What?
“R…Ryan’s home -coming p@rty?” I skrie-ked.
“You mean we’ll be going to the Winthorpe mansion?” I asked with disbelief and she nodded.
What?
“Why?” I asked abacked.
“And what do you mean why? I mean, everyone’s wishing to be there. Shouldn’t you feel lucky to be among the privileged?
“Anyway, Ryan’s mum invited me, so I have to attend. And you’re coming with me” she replied and took a bite from the bre-ad toast.
“But mum…”
“What is wrong with you, Bethel? Why are you dragging it?” She asked with a stern look and I sighed and looked down at my food.
But I’m supposed to have a d@t£ with Jackson today
Immediately, her phone started ringing and she mute it after checking the caller.
“I’ll be home to pick you by 6. Better don’t keep me waiting” she said callously and stood up with her bag.
“I’ll be on my way now” she added and started walking away while I just pla-yed pathetically with my food.
Why does she want me to go along with her to the p@rty? What am I going to do with Jackson now?

After eating, I took my bath and got re-ady for school.
I still couldn’t st©p thinking about the whole thing.
On my way to clas-s, I was interrupted by two boys who stood in front of me, smiling like cats.
“Hey B” one of them called and li-cked hisl-ips.
I huffed and tried walking away but the second one held me back.
“Hey, hey, hey; chill okay? Um…Mawthie just wants us to deliver this letter to you” he said and proffered a piece of paper he was holding.
Gosh! I should’ve known.
“Well, tell him to go to hell” I said and starred walking away but turned back to look at them.
“And one piece of advice; I think it’d be best if you st©pped being errand boys” I added and continued on my way.
Mawthie was the leader of the gangster here in Royal High and he’s always been trying to get me on his side. But I guess his stupidity wouldn’t let him see I can never agree to someone like him.
I walked into the clas-s and met Nicole there alre-ady. She always comes to school before me.
“Hey B” she waved at me as I got to where she was.
The ABC girls were not in clas-s. Perfect.
“Hi” I said blearily as I took my seat next to Nicole.
The clas-s was kind of noisy as all the ladies were talking about Ryan’s concert.
“Hey, are you okay? You look moody” Nicole stated with a grouch.
“Well, it’s mum. She’s such a kill Joy” I replied.
“Huh? What happened this time?”
“She wants me to go with her to Ryan’s home coming p@rty” I replied and she screamed.
What?
“Nicole!” I called in shock as all eyes darted to our direction.
Why the hell did she scream that way?
“What’s wrong with you?” I growled and she laughed.
“Oh, my! Bethel, I’m just so excited. I mean, are you serious? You’re really going to the p@rty?” she asked and I looked around and thank goodness, the rest of the students had taken their eyes away from us.
“Well, yes. Mummy said Ryan’s mum invited her over.” I replied and she almost screamed again, but covered her mouth with her palm.
“Oh, my God! Bethel, you’re so lucky. But hold on; why are you looking moody then?” She asked with her brows furrowed.
“Well, I’m supposed to have a d@t£ with Jackson today…”
“What?fu-ck Jackson B;” she cut me off.
“Are you kidding me? You’re upset about going to the Winthrop mansion because of Jackson? Do you even know how lucky you are right now? I’ve called all my relatives around the city to city to see if any of them was invited to the p@rty, but unfortunately, none.
“Don’t you know by going to this p@rty, you have 60% possibility of getting to see Ryan face to face? You might even end up talking to him. Oh, my gosh! I seriously wish there was a way we could do a face swap right now, Bethel. I wish I had a mother like yours” she said wistfully while I just stared at her with disbelieve.
Gosh!
I shook my head and didn’t say anything.
“Wow! Kyle’s in school today” she said after a brief silence and I lifted my eyes to see the br@niac – Kyle – entering into the clas-s.
Oh!
He was the most intelligent boy in school and was given an award last semester as the best student.
And for that, people nicknamed him – the br@niac.
His uncle is actually the owner of the school, but he ha-rd ly talks and doesn’t have any friends and people actually think he’s snobbish.
Well, whatever.
“Seriously Bethel, you’re so lucky to be attending Ryan’s home coming p@rty” Nicole continued and I itched my ear.
“I wonder what the Winthrop mansion looks like. I’ve only seen it on the net, but I’m sure it’s going to be more gorgeous than that…”
She went on talking and not long after, the crazy ladies walked in.
Yeah – ABC.
“Hey, handsome” Cheryl waved at Kyle as they walked pas-s him, but he didn’t even lift his head to look at her.
Alma and Blair chuckled and she rolled her eyes.
They got to their seats which were In front of Nicole and I – and Blair win-ked at me before they all sat.
Annoying things.
Blair brou-ght out her phone and surprisingly, the projector in front of the clas-s got turned on and it started displa-ying pictures of Blair and Ryan together.
Not like they were together, but it was ph0to shopped and seemed so real like they had taken the pics together.
Huh? How was she able to connect to the projector?
All the students in the clas-s g@sped as they watched the sliding pictures on the projector.
This girl’s really crazy.
Then, Blair stood up and faced the clas-s.
“How does this look? Aren’t we perfect together?” She asked, grinning wi-dely.
“It’s dumb” someone from the back said and I had to smile.
Blair fumed and Alma stood up.
“Really? If it’s dumb, then you’re a dumb as-s” she said and few students laughed.
Immediately, the projector went off and we all looked in surprise and discovered it was done by Kyle who had made use of his phone.
Wow! How do they manage to do this?
Well, like I said, Kyle was very intelligent and was also an expert in the tech field.
“Hey, why did you do that?” Blair grouse but he just focused on the book he was re-ading.
I think the only time I’ve heard this guy speak is when he’s answering a question.
Few of the students started sniggering and Blair and Alma had to return to their seats.
Hm. Serves them right.
“Wow! What an attitude” Nicole whispered to me and I shrugged.

The rest of the day in school was as usual and when I got home, I had to call Jackson and tell him of the postponement of the d@t£.
“Gosh! I can’t believe I’m really going to Ryan’s p@rty. What will I even wear?
I riffled throu-gh my wardrobe for a while and finally settled on a blue jean trou-ser and jacket.
Perfect!
I wore them on and applied a light make up on my face.
Mum told me not to keep her waiting when she returns. So, I wanted to get re-ady in time.
After a while, mum returned and we left for the p@rty together.

Episode 8
Bethel’s Pov:
I sat next to mum in the front seat as she drove into the…
Oh, my God! This is paradise!
She drove into the black gate which had so many securities around and we entered into the Winthorpe mansion.
Oh, my gee! This is more than a mansion. It’s incredible.
No wonder the winthrop mansion has been the talk of the city.
The p@rty which was a beanfeast, was taking place outside and mum and I alighted from the car after she parked in the parking lot.
I almost opened my mouth in bemusement as I looked around the mansion. Just the outside was looking this great. I could imagine how the inside would look like. Wow!
“Matilda!” a woman called mum’s name and scuttled towards us as we approached the p@rty.
Oh! It was Ryan’s mum.
“Becky!” Mum also called and they both hvgged each other.
Wow! Ryan’s mum was looking so beautiful.
“I’m glad you could make it” she said and took her eyes to me.
“Oh, my! Is this Bethel?”
“Good evening ma’am” I greeted with a light smile.
“Oh, dearie! How re you? She’s so beautiful”.
“I’m fine ma’am. Thanks”
“Okay Matilda. Come on; my husband’s been waiting for you”.
“Oh! Of course” mum replied and turned to me.
“Just make yourself comfortable okay? I’ll be joining you soon” she said to me and I nodded and she left with Ryan’s mum.
Hold on; what discussion does she have with them?
I looked around and started sauntering into the p@rty. I don’t even know anyone here. I can’t believe mum left me all alone.
The p@rty was buzzing with life as lots of people filled the place -most of which were average men and women.
I walked to a table which was empty and took a seat. There were alre-ady drinks on the table and I took a glas-s of wine to suit myself
By the way, where’s the celebr@nt? Shouldn’t he be around or something?
My phone started ringing and I brou-ght it out from my bag and discovered it was Nicole.
“Hey Best” she said on the phone immediately I picked up.
Luckily, the sound of the music pla-ying from the p@rty wasn’t too high.
“Hey” I said lowly, sounding tired.
“Oh, my God! You’re at the p@rty alre-ady right? Have you seen Ryan?” She said excitedly and I scoffed.
“No ma” I replied, itching the back of my n£¢k.
“Awwn. Why? Anyway, don’t forget to take pictures okay? Bye” she quic-kly and ended the call.
Gosh! This girl’s really crazy.
I sighed and drank from my glsss again. What a boring p@rty. Well, I guess it’s because I don’t have anyone to talk to.
I looked around and my eyes met with a group of boys, talking and staring at me.
What ever.
By the way, where could Ryan’s step siblings be? Oh! Maybe they didn’t care to attend the p@rty, since they’re not in good terms.
Or maybe they’re here. I don’t even know them.
I took my phone and started pla-ying games with it. A waitress pas-sed by with some chocolates and cu-pcakes and I took some from her.
I ate with relishement and pla-yed with my phone and after a while, I felt pressed and nee-ded to make use of the restroom.
I stood up with my bag and looked around. How do I even get to the restroom? Where should I go?
I st©pped one of the waitresses and asked.
“plea-se how do I get to the restroom?”
“Um…you can go to way” she said and pointed to a separate building from the mansion.
I thanked her and followed the lead but when I got there – to the entrance -I saw some guards standing there.
I tried going in, but they st©pped me.
‘Sorry ma’am, but you can’t go in for now” one of them said and I flin-ched.
Huh?
“Why?” I asked, surprised.
“You can’t. If you can wait a little longer” another replied, ma-king me more confused.
Okay; what’s going on? Why are they st©pping me from going in?
“B…But, I’m so pressed right now. Can you find me an alternative?” I grumbled and immediately, someone I knew c@m£ up.
“Hey, Bethel;” he called, surprised.
He was a friend of my mum.
“Good evening, sir” I greeted with a perfunctory smile.
Gosh!
I really nee-d to wee.
“Good evening dear. How’re you doing? Uh…what’s going on?” He asked and I couldn’t tell which to reply first.
“I’m trying to make use of the restroom, but they’re not letting me in” I said with a pained look and he looked at the securities.
“Why’s that? Is something wrong?” He asked.
“Sir, Ryan’s in there and he instructed us not to let anyone in” one of the grumpy men replied.
Wait…hold on;
Did I just hear correctly?
Ryan’s in the restroom???
“Oh!” He mouthed and paused.
“Well, she can still make use of it. It isn’t like she’s gonna bu-mp into the room he’s using or something. Just be careful; Bethel; okay?”
W…What?
I…I don’t think I can go in.
“He had gone left. So, I think you should go right” one of the guards said, looking at me.
Oh, my God!
They’re really letting me in.
I was tem-pted to say ‘I’ll wait’,
But I was so pressed and nee-ded to wee.
What do I do?
“Come on, Bethel. Or do you wanna wait?’ Mum’s friend asked and I looked at him, speechless.
Then, I shook my head and started walking in. Oh, God! I suddenly feel so nervous.
Ryan’s in here?
What if he sees me?
Like…We get to meet or something?
I kept counting my steps as I walked into the big room which looked like a sitting room and then I got to a pas-sage with a p@rting.
Hold on; which way did the guard ask me to go out again?
Oh, God! I’ve forgotten.
I looked left and right and took the left pas-sage.
I walked steadily, looking at the different rooms which lined up.
I tried opening the first one, but it was locked.
I went over to the second one, still locked.
Then, I got to the third one and noticed it was open.
But just when I was about opening it, I suddenly heard strange voices from the fourth room.
Huh?
What’s going on there?
I left the third door and walked silently to the fourth.
The voices bec@m£ clear. Was someone in?
Wait! Could this be the pas-sage Ryan had taken?
I placed my ear on the door and…
Oh, my God!!!
What the hell?
They were…
They were m0@n s…S-xual m0@n s.
I could clear hear the lady’s voice:
“Oh, Ryan…
Yes
fuc-k me ha-rder…
Oh, yeah
“Ryan…
Oh…”
I g@sped and furrowed my brows in surprise.
Oh, my God! Was this for real?
I shook my head and placed my ear on the door again. I could only hear the lady’s voice. Ryan wasn’t even m0@n ing.
Oh, my! Was he really there? So the rumours were true? He’s really a flir-t?
I sighed and stared at the door.
This is so unbelievable.
I can’t believe Ryan’s actually ma-king out with a lady in the restroom.
I shook my head in bewilderment and went over to the next door which was a bit far from Ryan’s.
I got in and quic-kly sat on the seat, realising all the liquid.
Gosh! This feels so good.
I placed my chin on my palm and reminisced what I just heard. It was still shocking to me.
That was the first time I had been that close to people ma-king out and I just couldn’t believe it.
So; the almighty Ryan was having a good time with a lady in the restroom? No wonder he told the guards not to let anyone in.
Geez!
I can’t wait to tell Nicole about this.
I wonder who that lady is. She must feel like the luckiest girl on earth right now.
How dumb!
After spending a long time on the toilet seat cogitating, I stood up and looked around for some water, but couldn’t find any. I used the one connected to the toilet to flush.
Then, I went out of the room and decided to look around for the washbasin.
I nee-ded to wash my hand.
I glanced at “Ryan’s” room and wondered if they were still in there.
I didn’t go to check but just went ahead to look for the washbasin.
Luckily, I found one around the corner and I kept my bag on the table and tuned on the water.
There was a big mirror in front of it and as I washed my hands, I looked at myself in the mirror and stupidly smiled.
Crazy.
I looked down at the water and was about turning it off when a thin light shun pas-s me from the mirror.
What light was that? It seemed to be reflections from jewelries.
I lifted my head to the mirror and I swear, for the first time in my life, I felt my heart skip.
Whaaaaaaat?
R…R…R…Ryan??
Whaaaaat?
I quic-kly turned in a flash and found him standing and staring at me from a distance. He was leaning against the wall.
His dark eyes bored into mine and that was when I realised the light I had seen was from the pure gold jewelries he was putting on.
Oh, my God!
My throat suddenly went dry. Why am I this nervous?
I’m…I’m standing in front of Ryan Winthorp!
For real?
I was so speechless and didn’t even know what to say or do; to move or stand?
“What’re you doing here?” He finally asked in a cold voice, staring vacuously.
“I thought I ordered the guards not to let anyone in?
