Bethel’s Pov:
I scoffed in disbelieve.
Hold on; did I just hear her correctly?
She wants me to…
“Do I have to repeat myself, Bethel?” She asked and I sprang on my feet.
“And what do you want to do?” I asked.
“I mean, do you really think I’m lying to you?”
“I never said you were, Bethel, I just wanna make sure”.
“Well, I’m sorry but I can’t let you do that. First, you f0rç£d me into getting married. Yet, after everything, you still doubt me? I’m sorry mum, but I can’t let you do that to me. I’m telling you the truth” I said indelicately and slowly, she stood up as well.
“So, you wanna pl@ystubborn with me, huh?” She asked with a ha-rd stare but I kept mute.
“Well,” she said calmly and dropped her glas-s of wine on the table.
“I don’t really have time to pl@yaround with kids. So, for your sake, I hope you’re telling the truth. Because if I find out you lied to me, Bethel, trust me, you wouldn’t like my reaction.
“Now, unless you’re infertile – which I’m sure you’re not” she paused and reached for her bag.
“I should be expecting to see results in a few weeks” she added with a smile.
“So, I’m off to work. See you later” she added and walked out the door.
I watched in bemusement as she shut the door behind her.
This woman is incredible. What does she mean by – expecting to see results in a few weeks? What results?
Hold on; don’t tell me she’s expecting me to get pregnant.
Gosh!
I sank myself on the couch and buried my face in my palm. This woman is just unbelievable. I can’t believe she.wants me to get pregnant at this age.
So, in a few weeks, she’d be expecting the pregnancy results?
Hm. How pathetic.
I checked the time and remembered I was running late for the marriage clas-ses.
So immediately, I took my bag and left the house.
*
*
I arrived home in the mansion and surprisingly, Ryan was alre-ady waiting for me.
Well, it was surprising because the first time, he had to be f0rç£d like a baby.
“What took you so long?” He asked as I entered the sitting room.
His eyes were buried in his phone.
“Um..I had gone to see mum” I replied and paused.
Hold on; is he really asking me that?
Since when did he start caring?
He didn’t say any other thing and I hurried upstairs to the room so I could get changed.
In less than 15 minutes, I was done with everything and rushed back to the sitting room, but I couldn’t find him there anymore.
Urgh.
Then I hurried outside to the parking lot and there I found him comfortably sitting in one of his range rovers.
The door was kept open and I sighed and walked in.
*
The drive was kind of silent as he just kept operating his phone with keen interest.
As a result, I was f0rç£d to think and think.
I thought about mum – how was I going to face her? What if she monitors me closely and gets to know i lied to her?
And what if in a few weeks, I don’t get pregnant as she expects? What then will happen?
Geez! That woman is really unbelievable. I still find it ha-rd to believe she wants me to get pregnant at this age.
What exactly are her plans? Why do I keep smelling something fishy about all this?
After a while, we got to the venue and alighted from the car.
With two guards behind us, Ryan and I started walking into the building and as we did, of course, all eyes were on us.
I even caught a lady taking pictures of us with her phone.
We got into the elevator and landed on the third floor and there we headed straight for our clas-sroom.
Oh-oh.
I think we’re late because the clas-ses seem to have alre-ady started.
Everyone in the clas-s turned to look at as we walk in and sat next to each other.
The counselor who was talking paused to look at us.
“Um…Ryan And Bethel, although you are a bit late, but welcome anyway” she said and I smiled with a nod while Ryan remained…well, you should know.
“So,” she continued.
“We were talking about the ingredients of a sweet relationsh!pand for the sake of our special late comers, I’ll just brush throu-gh the three previous points I’ve mentioned.” She paused and looked into the opened book on her l@p.
“First point – be submissive.
“Second point – be true to yourselves.
“Third point – show affection.
“And now, we’re on the fourth point which states – make yourselves feel unique”.
She paused and looked up at the clas-s.
“Now, what do we mean by that? ma-king yourselves feel unique can be seen in different perspectives. But over here, I’ll be letting us see it in such a way that you make yourselves feel special. And we can look at instances such as – calling yourselves ro-mantic names rather than your real names”.
I scoffed and almost laughed and Ryan noticed.
ro-mantic names indeed.
“Yes – it’s one of the spices of a relationsh!p. You shouldn’t just go ahead calling each other by your names. You can make use of something like baby, sugar, sweetheart, love, and all that…”
“Ma’am” I suddenly cut in and raised my hand.
Oh, God! I didn’t even realize when I did that.
“Yes ma’am Bethel? Do you have something to say?” The counselor asked and I slowly stood up.
“Um…” I paused and looked at Ryan and he was giving me a cranky stare.
“Well, I just wanted to ask – what will you do when your spouse still calls you *miss*?” I asked with my hands folded and the counselor chuckled.
Then I returned to my seat.
“Well, ma’am Bethel” she said.
I didn’t even want to look at Ryan.
“I must say thats a really bad logic. I mean, such names shouldn’t be used between couples. But, not to worry; I’m sure in a short time, the couples will adjust” she concluded with a smile and nod.
Mmm.
Bethel; I hope I don’t get myself into trouble with Ryan. Well, it isn’t my fault.
“So, we’ll be moving to the next point and that includes respect…”
The clas-s continued for a long while and after some hours,, its c@m£ an end.
Finally, I could ha-rd ly wait.
I was about standing up when a call K into Ryan’s phone and I had a peep and discovered it was lady K.
What?
Geez!
He stood up immediately and received the call as he walked ahead of me.
It seems he didn’t want me to listen to their conversation.
Hmph.
I followed behind till we got to the elevator and that was when he ended the call.
That lady k; why the hell is she calling my husband?
I rolled my eyes and folded my hands angrily as I stood beside him in the elevator. Sometimes, I’m f0rç£d to wonder if he’s still having extra marital affairs.
The elevator landed on the first floor and slided open and Ryan and I c@m£ out of it and headed straight for our ride.
“Did you really have to be so clumsy in there?’ Ryan asked as we sat next to each other in the car.
“Tsh. What did I do wrong? I was just asking a question” I replied with a pout.
“Well, next time, be sure not to involve me in your childish questions” he stated and I scoffed
“And what was childish about it? Besides, I don’t remember calling your name” I replied and he exhaled heavily and looked away.
I also huffed and looked away and the driver took off immediately.
I wonder who’s being childish.
After a long silent drive, we finally got home, but surprisingly, Ryan didn’t make any attempt to come out of the car.
“I have somewhere else to go” he said, probably realizing the puzzled look on my face.
Huh? Where could he possibly want to go to?
I stared at him, as if waiting for some more answers.
But he didn’t even look at me again and I sluggishly c@m£ out of the car.
I stood and watched as they drove out of the mansion. I suddenly felt bittered.
Who knows if he’s going to meet Lady K?1
I huffed angrily and started walking into the house. But when I got to the balcony, my phone started ringing and I checked and discovered it was Jackson.

Bethel’s Pov:
I checked and discovered it was Jackson.
Huh?
Jackson? Why’s he calling me?
I cleared my throat a bit before picking the call.
“Hey, Bethel” he called. immediately.
“Hi” I replied, perfunctorily.
We haven’t spoken on phone after the day I met him at the marriage school.
“Where are you? Are you at home?” He asked.
“Yeah” I replied, tucking my hair behind my ear.
“Okay. Um…could you step out for a minute? I’m outside the gate”.
I furrowed my brows in surprise and looked at the gate.
“You’re…outside the mansion?” I asked.
“Yeah”.
Immediately, I hurried to the gate and the securities let me out. And immediately i got outside, I found him in a black car.
Really? So, he was serious?
I ended the call and scuttled to where the car was and he opened the door for me immediately.
“Come on in” he said and I entered the car.
Well, I didn’t want someone to see me standing there.
“What are you doing here?” I asked as I adjusted on the seat to face him.
“What a question. Do you want me to go back?” He chuckled and asked.
“Well, no. But you’re definitely not slee-ping here, right?” I asked and he laughed.
“Anyway, I have a surprise for you”. He said.
“A surprise? What surprise?”
“Well, hold on” he replied and started the car.
“Hold on; what are you doing? Where are you taking me?” I asked, surprised.
“Chill, Bethel. Its a surprise. We won’t be long” he replied and took off immediately.
Lady K’s Pov:
I waited patiently in the room and soon, I heard the knock.
“Come in” I answered anxiously, hoping it was who I was expecting.
The door opened creakily and Ryan c@m£ in, looking as gorgeous as ever.
Hah!
I sprang on my feet immediately.
“Ryan” I called and approached him.
“I’m glad you could make it”.
“Yeah” he mumbled and looked around the room.
“So…why did you call for me?’ He asked.
“Come on, Ryan; have a seat at least”.
“Sorry Karen. You told me its important and that’s the reason I’m here. So, what’s it?”
“Fine” I breathed out and reached for the papers on the be-d.
“I c@m£ up with new lyrics and wanted to show them to you. They’ll make a fine duet” I said as I handed them to him.
He collected them and ran his eyes throu-gh it.
“Is this the reason you called for me?” He scoffed.
“Come on, Ryan. What’s wrong with it? Since when has calling to show new lyrics to you become useless?” I asked and a short silence stepped in.
“What happened to us, Ryan?” I asked mildly.
“We use to be so close; we use to be best of friends. Why did you suddenly change towards me?”
“Are you seriously asking me that, Karen?”
“Ryan, I’m not disputing the fact that you’re married. Trust me, I’m okay with it. But you being married doesn’t mean we should become enemies or…or you start avoiding me or change towards me.
“If its about that night? I’m sorry, okay? I’m sorry it happened. I…I just thought you were in nee-d of it. But since you made it clear to me, I promise never to bring it up again. But plea-se, don’t hate me”.
“I don’t hate you, Karen” he muttered un-der his breath.
“Then, let’s go back to the way we were – minus the s3x p@rt of course” I added and chuckled, but he maintained a straight face.
“Ryan” I called called placed my hand on his cheek.
Gosh! What happened to this guy? He used to be so vulnerable to my t©uçh. He always fell for me so easily.
What happened to him?
Oh! How I’ve missed him. How I’ve missed his t©uçh and k!sses; and how perfectly he rode me to heaven.
Why did things have to change between us? I’ll never forgive that Bethel for it. And I’ll never st©p fighting till he’s mine again.
“Ryan plea-se” I said in an appealing tone and he t©uçhed my hand on his cheek.
“Like I said,Karen. I don’t hate you. St©p being so n@ûghty” he said with a crack and I was f0rç£d to chuckle.
“Thank you” I said and hvgged him but he didn’t let it last as he dis£ntangled from it almost immediately.
“Um…come on, Ryan. Come with me” I said and started walking out of the room and he followed me behind – of course.
We got outside to where my car was parked and my driver alre-ady waiting.
“Hey, what’re you up to?” Ryan asked as I approached the car.
“Come on, Ryan. I just want us to go for a stroll. You can go home afterwards” I replied.
Bethel’s Pov:
Jackson finally got to *his* destination as he st©pped the car in what seemed to be an amusement park.
“At last” I breathed out and opened the door.
“So, is this the surprise you were talking about?” I asked as I took my eyes around.
He was out of the car as well.
“Don’t tell me…you don’t recognize this place” he said and I furrowed my brows and took a look around again.
Oh, my God!
Of course!
I g@sped and turned excitedly.
“Jackson!” I called and he laughed.
This place – this park – it was where we first met. Jackson and I.
I can’t believe he brou-ght me here.
“Do you like it?” He asked and I chuckled.
“Well, it doesn’t sound much like a surprise to me, but yeah.” I replied with a shrug.
I could remember.
I had come to pas-s some time and in the process, I bu-mped into Jackson and my drink spilled on him. He didn’t get mad or yell, but instead, he was the one who apologized. That was like the most dumbest thing ever.
Lol.
He offered to get me a new drink and that was how we bec@m£ friends and got acquainted.
“But why exactly did you bring me here, Jackson?” I asked and he held my hand and started walking further with me.
“Well, I just wanted to remember the good old days” he replied.
“Uh…sorry” I said and fred my hand from his and he chuckled.
We walked further into the park and I fed my eyes with all the activities going on there.
There were a lot of people in the park, pla-ying and having fun.
“Um..Jackson; I’m sorry but I think I nee-d to start heading home” I said.
It was alre-ady dark.
“Come on Bethel. You…” He paused when his phone beeped and I figured it was a text message.
He glanced at it and inser-ted the phone into his trou-ser pocket.
“Come on Bethel; there’s still time. Besides, don’t you nee-d a break from that hellhound you call a home?” He asked, ma-king me scoff.
“That reminds me, Jackson” I said as we st©pped walking.
“Where did you know Ryan from?”
He sighed and inser-ted his both hands into his pocket.
“Yeah – that’s a long story. I really don’t wanna talk about it” he said.
“Why? Why are you hiding it from me? Ryan seemed really mad at you. He even…” I paused and didn’t complete it.
Oh!
That was when I remembered Ryan had asked me to stay away from him.
“He even what?” Jackson asked, staring at me keenly.
“Never mind” I waved it off and tried walking away, but he st©pped me.
“Bethel,” he called, staring directly into my face.
“I’ve missed you. And I miss all the moments we spent time together. If only there was a way I could make you mine again, I’d gladly do it”.
I wore a startled expression.
“Jackson, what’re you talking about?” I posed.
He kept mute and before I could realize what was going on, he k!$$£d me.
Whaaat?
I g@sped and unlocked from the k!ss, pushing him away.
What the heck?
“What’re you doing?” I asked in surprise but he didn’t say a word but kept his gaze behind me, as if staring at someone.
I quic-kly turned to see the greatest shock of my life.
Ryan!
