Bethel’s Pov:
I stood and waited for him to get to where I was.
He was putting on a Black jean and Jacket and wore a despondent look.
“Hi” he smiled when he stood in front of me.
“Jackson?” I called instead, tucking my hair behind my ear.
He sighed and inser-ted his hands into his trou-ser pockets.
“I c@m£ to say hi” he stated.
“Oh; you…c@m£ all the way to my school just for that?” I asked and he chuckled.
“How’s Ryan?” He asked and I lowered my gaze to the floor.
“He’s fine”.
A short silence stepped in. I guess I wasn’t really comfortable talking to my ex-b©yfri£nd.
“Bethel” he Called and I looked up at him.
“I want you to know I hold no grudges against you – despite the fact you broke up with me and got married. I mean, it wasn’t your fault. You didn’t plan for it to happen.
“So, I’d very much want you to feel free around me. Can we be friends?”
I stared at him, stunned.
He really wants this to happen?
“Come on, Bethel; just friends. Your getting married shouldn’t make us enemies.” He enthused and I smiled.
“So, we’re good, I guess?” He asked.
“Of course” I replied and he hvgged me.
Okay…I didn’t entirely like that hvg.
We dis£ntangled and I adjusted my bag properly.
“So…I guess we’ll talk later. You should hurry up for clas-s. Bye”
“Bye” I waved at him and left.
Oops.
That was heavy.
Well, perhaps it wasn’t a bad idea. Maybe we nee-ded to be in good terms.
As expected, all eyes were on me as I walked in the building, headed for my clas-sroom.
But this time around, I didn’t let it have much effect on me like it did the last time. I just kept my head straight and tried not to look at any of them.
Trying t take a corner, I accidentally bu-mped into someone who was taking the same direction and the pile of books in his hands c@m£ crashing to the floor.
Wait; it was Kyle!
“Oh, my! I’m so sorry” I said apologetically as I squ-atted with him to pick them up.
“Don’t worry, it’s nothing” he spoke calmly as he also as-sisted in picking them up.
Whaaat?
Kyle just spoke to me.
So, he knows how to talk to others?
I shrugged and we finally picked up the books together.
“Are you okay?” He asked and I looked behind to see if he was talking to someone else. But he wasn’t.
“I’m…I’m fine. Of course” I replied, trying to cloak my surprise.
I was the one who bu-mbe-d into him and he’s asking if I was okay.
He arranged the books in his hands and looked at me.
Gorgeous eyes.
“Alright then. Thanks for helping me with the books” he said and walked away and as he did, I turned to look at him.
What the hell just happened?
How was kyle sounding so…Nice?
I kept watching in amusement until he took a corner and couldn’t be seen again and I smiled and proceeded to the clas-s room.
As usual, Nicole was alre-ady seated and waiting on the seat and I joined her.
“Hello girlfriend” she beamed as I took my seat next to her.
“Hi” was all I could mutter.
“Hm. Looks like someone has got a lot of things up her head. Come on, Bethel; I’ve been dying to hear them. How was last night? Did…did you really share the same room with Ryan? What happened…”
“Nicole plea-se” I cut her off with an eye roll.
“St©p adding to my problems”. I said and she laughed.
“I’m sorry bethel; but I’m really curious. What happened?” She asked and I looked around and noticed all the ladies in the clas-s were stealing glances at me.
Geez! Seriously?
“Well, I Can’t talk about it here. Perhaps, when we’re alone” I said and she looked around and nodded after noticing the eyes revolving around me.
Immediately, the three br@ts walked in.
Oh perfect. Just enough to wors£n the moment.
They walked in stylishly with Cheryl taking a selfie.
They got to their seats which was in front of mine and of course they didn’t sit immediately but stood and faced me.
“Hello little bride” Blair tea-sed while the rest chuckled.
Can these ladies ever shut up?
I folded my hands and looked at them.
“Tell me, Bethel; how was your night?” Alma asked and I huffed.
“It was fantastic. Actually I dreamt someone peeled off your skin” I replied and she laughed – feignly though.
I could tell she was angry.
“Seriously Bethel; how was your night? Did the normal couple stuff happen between you two?” Cheryl asked.
“Yeah. Does it hurt?” Alma added.
“Of course it should. I heard Ryan was an expert” Blair said and they all busted into laughter.
I scoffed and shook my head.
“So, how did you know it’s supposed to hurt?” I asked, looking at Blair.
“Does it mean you’ve tasted it before? Wow! So, you’re no longer a v*rgin?
“Hm. Its quite a shame you know? It’s quite a shame you’ve tasted what your mother has”.
Her face got swollen with rage immediately as few of the students around who got to eaves drop busted into laughter.
She glared at me and made a fist with her hand and immediately, the lecturer c@m£ in.
“Good morning Mr Adams” the students greeted simultaneously as he went to takr his stand in front of the clas-s.
I sm-irked at Blair as they had no other option but to return to their seats.
“Wow Bethel; you’re the perfect match for these ladies” Nicole whispered to me and I just rolled my eyes.
“Good morning students” Mr Adams said as he adjusted his glas-ses.
“I take it your night was lovely and plea-sant?
“Well, before we go into the morning lectures, I’d love to pas-s a special announcement to you all.
“There’s been a slight adjustment to the inter school mathematical competition which is scheduled to hold tomorrow.”
Oh! The inter school competition.
It was a competition involving different schools and here in my school, the repres£ntatives were Kyle – the br@niac- and Samantha – a lady in the arts clas-s.
What adjustment could there be?
“Samantha is seriously ill and won’t be able to p@rticipate in it again. So, we’ve chos£n a new repres£ntative and p@rtner to kyle Donavan. And the new repres£ntative will be Bethel Cyrus” he announced and my jaws dropped.
What?
Me?
Bonnie’s Pov:
My name is Bonnie Winthrop and I’m the first child of the Winthrop family.
My mother is the first wife and everything was peaceful before the gold diggers showed up and created a chaos.
“The nerves of that woman to insult mum” my younger sister – Tanya grouch as she sat next to mum who was crying.
I was just fuming and stood facing the window.
“She thinks Having a male child is the best achievement in life huh? She thinks she’s won alre-ady?” Bonnie further quarried.
Mum just kept whimpering.
“Come on, mum. Its okay” she consoled.
Then I turned and faced them.
“She’s going to regret everything she’s done” I said throu-gh gritted teeth.
“I’ll make her pay for it and every other person who’s made my mum cry. She feels so boastful with that son of hers right? Well, I’m going to take him away from her.
“Dont worry, mum; I’m going to be the son you never had”.

Bethel’s Pov:
I sat in the principal’s office and helplessly watched as she wrote in her book and made and received numerous calls.
I was so bored; but what to do? I had no option.
I had been instructed to come straight to the principal’s office once the school was dismissed. So, here I was. It was all in preparation for the forth coming competition.
Where the heck was Kyle?
I guess he was the one delaying us.
Shortly, the door opened and i turned to see him coming in.
Oops. At last.
“Good day ma’am” he said to the principal as he took his seat which was close to mine.
“Sorry I’m late” he added.
Our eyes ran into each other’s and I waved at him while he did same.
“So,” the principal Finally said as she halted what she was doing and looked at us.
“I’m glad you both could make it. Like you know alre-ady, the competition is tomorrow. And Bethel, we’re sorry you had to be selected at the dying minute. We just had no idea that Samantha’s condition would get that critical. I hope you can bear with us?” She asked, joining her two plams together.
Her voice was always so strict.
“Yes ma’am” I replied and she nods.
“Okay then. I’ll leave you two to the rest of it. All you have to do is study. The competition will be held by 10 am and as soon as it’s time, we’re all gonna leave together. Are there any questions?” She concluded and adjusted her glas-ses.
I looked at Kyle who also stared back at me.
“No” I replied but kyle didn’t say a word.
“Okay then. You’re free to go” she said and I stood up with my bag.
Thank goodness.
Kyle stood up as well and we walked out of the office together.
“Hey” he called as soon as we were outside and I st©pped to look at him.
“So…I was thinking it’d be best if we just stayed behind and studied for a short time” he said genially and I muttered an oh and checked the time.
“I’m…so sorry, but I can’t make it. I have something pretty important to do at home” I replied, remembering Ryan’s mom had said something about marriage clas-ses.
“Don’t worry, I’ll just study alone when I’m done” I added.
“Okay. Then be sure to come early tomorrow so we could practice together before it’s time for the competition” he stated.
“Of course; sure. I will”.
“Alright then. Bye”
“Bye” I replied and walked away.
Woah!
That was so…I don’t know.
I still couldn’t believe Kyle was speaking so freely with me.
Nicole had alre-ady gone home. But luckily, my driver was alre-ady waiting for me when I got outside.
I entered into the van and we drove home immediately.
*
*
I returned home only to find Ryan and his mum having a serious argument in the sitting room.
Okay; what was going on?
Well, it wasn’t really an argument because his mum was the one doing most of the talking.
“And I’ve told you, Ryan. You’re going to the marriage clas-ses and that’s final!” She snapped.
Oh!
Was it about the marriage clas-s?
Hold on; don’t tell me he still doesn’t want to attend.
She st©pped talking the moment she saw me.
“Bethel” she called with a sigh.
“Um good evening ma’am” I greeted, taking a look at Ryan.
He looked peeved and inser-ted his hands into his trou-ser pockets as he stared away.
“Good evening Bethel. And welcome. I’ve been waiting for you. Hurry up and wear something nice. We’re running late alre-ady for the marriage clas-ses” she said hastily and I hesistated a little.
I thought Ryan wasn’t gonna attend?
“Come on bethel” she said again and I took the stairs.
I went into the be-droom and sat on the be-d for a short time. I felt a heavy burden on my shoulders.
I couldn’t believe someone was being f0rç£d to attend marriage clas-ses with me.
I stood and found something nice to wear since Ryan’s mum said we were alre-ady running late for the p@rty.
After dressing up, I returned to the sitting room and met her sitting all alone
“Bethel!” She sprang on her feet and called immediately she saw me.
“You’re done. Come on now” she said and started walking out of the house and I followed behind.
But where was Ryan? Or would I be the only one attending the marriage clas-ses?
I followed Mrs Winthrop and got to the parking lot and surprisingly, there I found Ryan sitting in a black jeep, operating his phone.
Oh!
“Come on Bethel; go in. I’ve spoken to the manager alre-ady and they’re all expecting you. The driver knows where to take you. Bye” Mrs Winthrop explained and prodded me to go into the jeep.
So…I’ll be going alone with Ryan?
“Bye” I gave her a perfunctory reply and went in, sitting next to Ryan who didn’t even turn to look at me.
Oh geez! Sitting next to Mr Popular.
The door was closed and the driver took off immediately. I noticed one extra car followed us behind.
I folded my hands and thought about the grumpy guy seated next to me.
I wonder why he isn’t saying anything.
Well, what does he have to say?
But I hope he’s aware I’m not the reason he was f0rç£d on this trip.
So, he should st©p being grumpy.
He kept his legs crossed and continued pla-ying with his phone. I tried to have a peep into it, but couldn’t.
Then, I just sighed and stared out the window instead.
After a long ride, we finally got to our destination as the driver pu-ll-ed over in front of a tall dazzling building.
Guards c@m£ out from the second car and ran to ours, opening the door for us.
Ryan and I stepped out from our own side of the door and I gazed around when I was standing on the german – floored ground.
The building was beautiful indeed.
Immediately, two women who were standing at the facade of the building walked up to us, both beaming with smiles.
“Good evening sir Ryan.
“Good evening ma’am Bethel” they greeted simultaneously and I wondered if they were actually referring to me as *ma’am*.
“Good evening” I replied, tucking my hair behind my ear.
“We’re so happy to have you here. Your mother has…”
“Go straight to the point. Where’s the clas-s taking place?” Ryan cut her off, sounding so rude.
Gosh!
The women were a bit stunned, but tried to dissemble it.
“Um..plea-se come with us” they said and took the lead, walking into the building while Ryan and I followed behind.
I turned and sh0t him a stare as we walked in.
He was so annoying.
We entered into the building and the first floor was more like a supermarket.
There were lots of goods and people in it, shopping.
Wow!
We got into the elevator and it took us straight to the third floor.
We c@m£ out of it and followed the women to the reception.
Wow!
The third floor was clas-sic.
We got to the reception where we were asked to fill in our names and just then, Ryan’s phone started ringing and he walked away to receive it.
Yeah perfect.
I filled in my name and details and awaited Ryan to return and do his.
I leaned on the counter as I waited and looked around.
What a nice place.
I wonder where the clas-ses were taking place and what it would look like.
Suddenly, I saw someone familiar.
What?
Jackson?
He was coming with a closed carton and my eyes beamed at the sight of him.
What’s he doing here?
“Jackson?” I called and ran to meet him.
He st©pped when he saw me and looked surprised.
“Bethel?” He reciprocated and chuckled.
“Hi” he added.
“What are you doing here?” I asked and took a look at the cartoon he was holding.
“I um…” He paused and looked at the caton as well.
“I just c@m£ to…”
“Jackson?” Someone else called and I turned to see Ryan standing and staring at him, abacked.
Jackson also turned and his jaws dropped the moment he saw it was Ryan.
Ryan scoffed.
“You?” He called with a crumpled look.
Wait;
What’s going on?
