“Are you sure about what you’re saying? The doctor asked him.
“No plea-se he’s joking don’t mind him, he can’t Leave this place when he’s not properly healed, Maria replied.
“Sister I can always come back for checkup, do you think I love lying down here? I have a crutches I can manage and I have to go home. Won’t you return back to your base? Won’t Bridget go to work? I can’t keep anyone bondage here to take care of me, Francis said and Maria heaved..
“Talking about my job, i forgot I am to resume on Monday, gosh I don’t want to go back anymore, Maria sadly said.
“Why did you get a transfer in the first place? Seth asked.
“Something happened, I had a misun-derstanding with my best friend that almost cost her marriage, though it was all mama manipulation, Maria replied.
“Can’t you talk to your manager that you’ve changed your mind? Can’t something be done about this? Seth asked and Maria bowed her head.
“I’m not even up to a year there, I can’t just leave like that, alre-ady my absĀ£nt there has cost some el@pses in the company, she replied and Seth held her.
“You don’t un-derstand, you mean you’ll leave me again? I thought I had you, won’t there be us anymore? Maria I still want you, I love you and I want you back plea-se don’t leave me, Seth shakily said that made Maria shocked and everyone was just looking.
“Seth I’m not leaving you, we can always see right? You can always visit me or I come down to visit don’t sound that way, Maria managed to say and he shook his head.
“You don’t un-derstand, we are too old for visiting as if its a boarding school. I want to settle down this year and I want it to be you, how will this happen when you’re far away from me? plea-se I’m begging you, don’t leave me, I nee-d you, Seth pleaded and Maria weakly looked at her brothers who couldn’t say anything.
“Ermmm its quite tou-ching but Maria is there anything you can do about this? The pastor decided to speak out.
“Sir I can’t say anything now because I have to go back and see how I can discuss this with them, Maria replied.
“But is your manager not aware of your brothers condition? Fred asked and Maria heaved.
“My manager here is aware, in fact I called him when I landed at the airport and when I got to the hospital which he promised to come visit me but I haven’t seen him or his call for days now. Let me just go back first, and I can discuss things with them. Besides I have a burial on ground which they know is very important, I’m sure that will give me a very good ground to come back, Maria replied.
“What if they don’t accept the sudden transfer back here? Victor asked.
“Then I have to resign, Maria seriously replied.
“What! No no no I wont accept that sister, you can’t lose your job like that na, Francis said.
“That’s true, have you forgotten mama is no more, Francis does not have a job and I just recovered and I have nothing in my 37 years on earth, how will we cope? Joe asked and Maria phone began to ring.
“Seriously? Its my manager here that is calling, let me pick this plea-se, Maria said to them and picked up.
“Evening sir, she greeted.
“Maria, where are you? He asked.
“In the hospital since you abandoned me, she replied.

“Outside? She asked.
“Yes outside the hospital, I’m waiting, he replied and dropped the call.
“Hiannnn my boss is outside I’ll be back, Maria said and hurriedly left to pick him up but surprisedly he was with Sandra.
Maria feet grew cold when she saw her and she didn’t know whether to draw her close for a hvg or not scared Sandra is still angry with her.
“Welcome sir, hello welcome, Maria said greeting them.
‘Thank you Maria and I’m so sorry for coming now. You know I wanted to but I had a call that took me outside the state, I returned just this morning and tried your number but it wasn’t reachable, so I said to myself I must be here to see you. How’s your brother? the manager asked.
“I thank God, he’s even asking to be discharged, he’s inside plea-se let’s go in, Maria replied and led them in.
“That’s good, and the missing one? He asked as they were going.
“Thank God he returned today, God indeed answers prayers, she replied.
“Wow! You’ve been throu-gh a lot of stress, its telling on you, when are you resuming? He asked.
“Monday sir, but seriously I don’t know if you can help me, I lost my mom, she replied and the man stĀ©pped same with Sandra.
“You can’t be serious, he said and she nodded.
“She’s in the morque as we speak, I can’t afford to go back knowing I have a lot to do here, plea-se sir is there anything you can do to make me stay? She asked.
“Maria you wanted this, you requested for this yourself so what do you want me to do? He asked.
“Sir I know I asked for the transfer because I was going throu-gh a lot then, I wanted escaping from all of it but now I want to stay, plea-se take me back. I am re-ady to give up the regional director to go back to my position as long as I’m with my family. They nee-d me, Maria said and the boss heaved.
“And today is Saturday, well right now I c@mĀ£ to see you and your brother as I promised, but this discussion is impromptu. Nevertheless I’ll say you should go back to your base on Monday while I will see what I can do to bring you back, but make sure you tidy up and do whatever that is nee-ded for you to do because anytime you can receive a call telling you to resume here the next day. I hope that is okay for you? He asked.

“And I’m so sorry for your loss, he said.
“Thank you sir, this way plea-se, Maria said and they continued to Francis room………
The pastor and his driver begged to leave while Joe promised to see them the next day,
“No problem son, take your time and be with your family, the pastor said and they all greeted and thanked him and he left.
“So Francis I heard you have a first clas-s, Maria boss asked.
“Yes sir, Francis replied.
“So you’re working? He asked.
“No sir never worked, Francis replied.
“Okay I un-derstand, you’re into business, the boss said.
“I wish i was, Francis replied and the boss looked confused.
“Actually sir he has been looking for job for years now after his graduation, and he’s open to any vacancy, Maria c@mĀ£ in.
“Are you serious? With all the vacancy we have had why didn’t you push him in? The boss asked.
“Sir i did, I have talked to many people but they didn’t succeed, Maria replied.
“This is serious, let me see, The boss said and made a call while Francis heart was beating fast.
“Hey how are you? The boss asked when the caller picked up.
“Okay I heard there’s a vacancy in your company, I think I heard something like that 2 days ago, the boss said after few seconds.
“Okay, is it still open? There’s someone I’ll want you to fix in for me. A bright young man and a first clas-s holder for that matter, the boss said and Francis almost fainted.
“My friend I know you can fix him there stĀ©p doing me 419, the boss said laughing.
“Okay he will sĀ£nd his credentials shortly to your email. Thanks again I know you can do something, The boss said and after few seconds he laughed out.
“Sure we’ll have that drink when I enter town, thanks again. Talk to you later, the Boss said and dropped the call looking at Francis who was melting like bu-tter ice on a h0t cake.
“Will you as-sure me you will do this job well when I get you one? Its a big influential position, the boss said and Francis slowly attem-pted to go on his knees but Joe held him,
“Ahh sir I promise to put in my very best in it, just give me a chance, Francis replied.
“I want to believe that because your sister showed me same, just sĀ£nd me your details, the boss said and Francis quic-kly got his phone to sĀ£nd his doĀ¢v-ments saved in the software……….
After few discussions with them the boss was about to leave and Maria decided to see him off.
On the other have Sandra has been quiet in all the discussions neither did she say a word to Maria, but when she was about entering the car with the Boss she stĀ©pped and looked at Maria,
“Sorry for your loss, she said and Maria nodded.
“Thank you, Maria said and she got into the car and they drove off. She heaved and went back to meet everyone but saw Francis shouting happily.
“So you mean finally I can now have a job? Frank asked when she walked in.
“I trust my boss, when he says something he does it, Maria replied and Frank screamed and attem-pted to get up without the use of the crutches,
“What are you doing? Joe asked.
“Brother I have to do this, I won’t be going to work with this right? I have to be fit, Francis replied.
“I know but you’re not strong remember, just calm down and heal, besides the doctor said you won’t be subjected to a crutches for a long time, Fred said.

“Francis calm down, God is at work here don’t forget that, Maria said and Victor phone began to ring and he picked up.
“Hello papa, good evening, he said.

“Your mother was found few minutes ago mad walking on the streets, you nee-d to come down, he replied.
