“Sister! Joe called out and held her and 2 strange men rushed out from the front seats to help her out.
“Sister its me open your eyes, Joe said as one of the men went back to the car to bring water sprinkling it on her face and she slowly opened her eyes.
“Joe? She weakly called out and he smiled.
“Your one and only, he replied and hvgged her raising her up.
“Where have you been for Christ sake? She asked.
“I c@mĀ£ here na, was it 2 days ago and the door was locked, but how are you? You don’t look good to me what’s wrong? He asked.
“Joe where have you been? And you’re well? She asked looking at him and he smiled.
“Pastor this is my only sister, don’t see her like this o I sĀ£nior her, Joe said and Maria greeted them.
“I un-derstand you have many questions to ask, but can we go in? The pastor there asked.
“No plea-se let’s talk else where, Joe cuts in.
“No one is home and no one will be coming home either if you’re scared about mama, Maria said.
“Why she traveled? Joe asked.
“She’s dead! Maria dropped and Joe shockily looked at the pastor.
“Dead? Since when? The pastor asked.
“Few days after Joe disappeared, but you’re right let’s talk else where, the house isn’t conducive, Maria replied.
“Okay let’s drive somewhere else, Joe said leading her to the car while she was still looking at him to be sure its really Joe.
“I see why you’re not good because mama is dead right? Joe asked her in the car and she heaved.
“When you disappeared was when everything went wrong in the family. Francis had an accident the next day, Maria replied.
“What! I mean where is he now? Joe shouted.
“In the hospital, she replied.
“Let’s go there plea-se what are we waiting for? Jesus Christ! Joe exclaimed and Maria told the man driving the name of the hospital.
“How is he now? Joe asked.
“He’s getting better and soon he will be discharged. I just thank God for everything and I feel so fulfilled you’re alive and healthy. Let me call the guys, Maria replied and called Fred number and he picked up.
“Hey babe, home? Fred asked.
“You know what? I mistakely took myself home thinking it was the h0tel but it was for the best. Guess what? Maria asked.
“Abeg no vex hunger don knack my br@in to guess, we-tin happen? You see ghost? Fred asked and the guys who were busy with their stuff bec@mĀ£ interested in the call.
“Which kind guess be that one? Anyway Joe is back! Maria dropped.
“Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Hey! This victory pas-s Chelsea and Barcelona own o! Fred screamed alerting the guys.
“Joe is back, he told them and Mark got the phone from him.
“Are you serious? Like he’s back in flesh and blood? Mark asked.
“No in bĀ©dy and soul and we are going to see Francis now, Maria replied.
“Ahh we are coming there right there, Mark said and Maria dropped the call and laughed with Joe who was smiling all along.
“I miss those guys, but I couldn’t tally because of my condition back then, Joe sadly said.
“Don’t think about it, and I hope you’ve forgiven your brother? I know he didn’t really love you that much but trust me when i say he cared, Maria said and Joe smiled.
“I never had any problem with him, I un-derstand I was a burden and deserve how I was being treated, Joe said and Maria held his hand.
“You thought that way but you were never a burden and you don’t deserve the way you were treated because it wasn’t your fault. We love you Joe and we are happy you are back to us, Maria said and Seth call c@mĀ£ on phone immediately and she picked up.
“You didn’t care to let me know? Is it true? Seth asked immediately.
“Sorry I wanted calling you next, yes it true and we are going to the hospital to see Francis, she replied.
“I’ll be there, he said and dropped the call and she breathed out.
“I know he’s angry I didn’t call him first and there’s a pastor I nee-d to share this goodnews to, she said and called Bridget father.
“Hello Maria, he picked up and the bus was very noisy.
“Sir good news! She shouted for him to hear.
“Ahh praise God. What has he done? He asked.
“Joe is back, she replied and he happily laughed out.
“Hallelujah, too bad I couldn’t see him but I will one day. How is he? He asked.
“He’s healed and healthy, I couldn’t even recognize him, She replied.
“I knew he will because powers were broken. Its noisy here when I get home I’ll call you, he said.
“Okay sir bye, Maria said and dropped the call and happily la-id her head on Joe shoulders and he drew her nose.
“Ouch! She shouted and he laughed.
“It feels so good to see you again, Joe said.
“You haven’t still told me the reason you gave me high BP. I had to come down when I heard you’re missing, she said.
“Don’t worry we will tell you everything, the pastor replied and she nodded…………
Maria got in first and met Francis eating,
“Uhmmm she’s back, welcome, Francis said with a frown and Maria laughed and sat down crossing her legs looking at him.
“I don’t un-derstand, there’s something you’re not telling me, Francis said.
“Why should I tell you when you’re frowning, she replied.
“So I shouldn’t frown I didn’t see you for days now? He asked.
“Days? Like seriously? Maria asked.
“Okay fine How was the wedding? You look tired though, Francis said.
“I was but not anymore. I want you to see someone, Maria said and opened the door and Joe walked in.
Francis eyes bulged out letting go of his crutches unconsciously to get up but Joe held him instead for a hvg and for minutes they cried on themselves.
“What happened to you? Joe asked.
“No what happened to you? I looked for you, we looked for you, where were you? Francis asked and Joe sniffed ma-king him to sit down.
“Remember when I told you I wanted to leave? I meant it because I was so tired of everything and when sister got transfered I knew my own was done with. Then that day I saw mama in a very angry mood and she pushed me down in a hurry to go somewhere. I felt so rejected and the hatred mama had for me was killing me each day I wake up in that house. I couldn’t reach any of you and I was feeling so lonely, so I decided to take a stroll on the street just to feel relieved at least.
I cant tell how long i walked absĀ£nt minded But a car from no where drove and took me in before I could realize it. They were boys to ritualists, But when they realized I was an imbecile they got so disappointed they were so blind to notice so they made a call to their leader or something and he shouted on them to throw me away because I was useless. That was how one of them angrily hit Me ha-rd on my back and I pas-sed out, but I woke up seeing myself in this kind man house, Joe narrated and Francis tearfully looked at the men.
“Yes, that fateful day I was coming back from Port Harcourt and felt pressed, so I dropped by to ease myself when I saw something that looked like a human being lying on the ground. I wanted ignoring but my spirit told me to go near, so I told my son here who was driving to come let’s check what is that just behind a half fence filled with bushes. When we switched on our phone torches and went near, we found him lying helplessly and I couldn’t walk away when I checked his pulse and saw he was still alive though unconscious. I was pressed in my spirit to take him home so I had to obey, then I had series of revelations about him. But glory be to God just few days ago, in our prayer meeting with him he was healed, the pastor said and Maria broke down crying on Bridget and immediately the guys entered and met the surprise.
Mark just leaned on the wall with his mouth opened while Victor went ahead to hvg him and Seth went straight to Maria to comfort her.
“Welcome back, Victor whispered to him and Joe nodded cleaning his tears and the rest hvgged him.
“Thank you all so much, I appreciate, Joe said.
“Shhhhh don’t say anything, God proved him powerful and its wonderful, Fred said.
“I heard mama is dead, I wish she didn’t die now because there’s something I wanted to say to her, Joe said and Mark li-cked hisl-ips and looked at Francis who kept a shocked face and every where was quiet.
“What did you just say? Francis asked and Joe confusedly looked at them when he saw Francis was not aware,
“I thought….. I thought…. “Guy we didn’t want you to know yet, no vex abeg, Mark cuts in on Joe.
“Mama is dead? When? How? Francis shouted.
“She died the same day you had an accident, she took her own life plea-se we didn’t want to tell you because of your condition and it was complicated, Maria replied.
“I have the right to know! What was there about you hiding her death from me? Francis shouted.
“Love listen to me, it was complicated and they didn’t want to get you involved because of your health. Look at them, do they look good to you? They went throu-gh so much stress to put an end to the problem that was on ground because of your mother, plea-se don’t be too mad, Bridget c@mĀ£ in and Francis cleaned his face not believing his ears and Joe held him.
“Its okay brother, I’m sure they wanted telling you at the right time, Joe said.
“And they think I wouldn’t have taken in her death like I care huh! How dare she! Why did she die when I was eagerly waiting to get out of here so I’ll strangle her myself. Why did she die! Francis fiercely shouted and Joe held him.
“Ssshhh Its okay plea-se there’s no nee-d for that, Joe said and Maria breathed out.
“She’s in the mortuary here, she said.
“Let her rot there for all I Care, and what was so complicated about her death? Francis asked.
“Omoh that episode long o, story for another day, Fred replied.
“You see, they are still hiding things from me, Francis said.
“Love calm down you’ll know everything okay, in fact they are just back from a very important journey and they nee-d to rest, Bridget said.
“Not burial and wedding anymore? Francis asked.
“Na lie o but guy chill we go download everything give you later, e go choke you sef. For now let’s concentrate on your brother and be happy he’s back, that’s more important now, Seth replied.
“Oh oh! Help me tell him o, Mark said.
“Thank you so much sir and God bless you. God knowing what he’s doing he sĀ£nt two angels to us to help us out of our problems and we are grateful you heeded to his call, Maria said to the pastor and he smiled.
“As a soldier of the cross whenever he calls I just have to obey, the pastor replied.
“We will surely arrange for a big thanksgiving and you nee-d to see pastor Obinna, God used him alot in breaking powers Nkiru held them with, Victor said.
“Wow I can’t wait to see him, it will be a plea-sure, the pastor happily said and Francis smiled hvgging Joe and Maria ran and fell in the hvg too…………
