EPISODE 37

Ethan also received the invitation from Mr. Salemander for the masquerade party. He had been hosting a masquerade party for his charity organizations. His charity organization was vast; it does not only cover the anti- cancer movement but he also supported the free education in South Africa. That’s why he usually hosted masquerade party every year as he invited his fellow business partners for support.

Ethan only showed once but he made sure to donate every year. Ethan didn’t plan to join this year’s party but Aisha pestered him every minute so he gave in.

“Do you have something to wear for tonight’s party?” Ethan asked Aisha.

“Don’t have one yet. Lisa and I will do shopping later.” She smiled confidently.

“Should I be nervous for both of you?” Ethan teased her.

“Yah! Just so you wait! I’ll fli-p that masquerade ball upside down!” she yelled as she glared at him. Ethan chuckled.

“Okay, Okay. I trust your taste of fashion.” He laughed mockingly. He was fixing his hair since he will be meeting a new investor today.

“By the way, you don’t have to fetch us tonight. We’ll be there before it begins”

“Okay, If you said so.” He stood up and planted a quick ki-ss on her li-ps.

“I’m going. Take care.” Then he exited the room.

Aisha called Lisa after Ethan left. They talked about the things they will do in preparation for the party. They did a little research about Mr. Salemander and the party he usually hosted. They found out that it’s not just a mere party. It was actually more of a gathering of almost all business men in the country. Well, this is a good opportunity for them. It’s like hitting two birds at the same time!

After some hours of planning, Aisha talk to Eli, letting him know that they will be coming home very late. Eli un-derstood. It’s not the first time they came home late anyway. Eli, in his young age un-derstood his parents work so he didn’t bother them. He gave them the as-surance that he can manage himself.

“Bye Mom, bye aunt Lisa!” Eli waved a sweet goodbye.

Aisha and Lisa drove directly to the white lotus sto-re. they decided to prepare themselves in there. Some of the staffs there recognized Stacy—their old workmate. They were wondering why a mere saleslady before would go to that expensive sto-re. And also they were catered to the VIP room! just what the hell is happening? Some of the staffs started to gossip.

“Maybe she found a rich man?” Other said

“Or maybe she found a sugar daddy instead,” someone said bitterly.

“But with her beauty, it’s not impossible for her to find a wealthy man.” Other said.

Rumors spread quickly like an epidemic. They didn’t have any idea that she was their chief manager.

The stylist didn’t have a ha-rd time fixing Aisha and Lisa since they only nee-d light make-up on them. He also helped them chose the dress for the party. They have to take good care of them since they have the exclusive black VIP card. It only means that these clients are priceless.

The stylist picked a black laced evening gown for Aisha and for Lisa, the white laced evening gown will definitely suit her. After an hour, the two came out catching the attention of the staffs and some of the onlookers. Some grasped their breaths.

“Whoa! They look like a celebrity. No! they would definitely stand out better!”.

“Are they celebrities or model perhaps? Why haven’t I seen them before?”

“I don’t know, maybe they are new?”

Chitchats can be heard everywhere. But the two confidently exited the sto-re after they paid for their dresses as well as the professional services rendered by the stylists. Then they headed to where Aisha’s car parked. They usually don’t care about their surroundings.

Unknown to them, a curious paparazzi were following them from behind taking stolen pictures all the time. The man definitely recognized the woman wearing a black evening gown. She is definitely the wife of the great CEO.

Aisha look at her watch; they still have more than an hour to reach the masquerade party. They both entered the car. They will be able to reach the venue within thirty minutes, hope there wouldn’t be any traffic. The guy who has been following them also entered his van. He shook his partner who’s been sleeping for a while. He plans to follow them.

Aisha drove past the mall; they were having a good time talking about nonsense things while they’re on their way but they nee-d to stop due to the stop light. Once again, Aisha look at her watch, it’s 8:17pm, the party will start at 9:30 at Omega-Z Hotel owned by Mr. Salemander. She is humming an unknown tune while waiting for the people to cross over. Suddenly, a black van stop at their right side. She was able to see the driver and the one on the pas-senger seat. Both were wearing masks.

“Seems like they will be attending a masquerade party as well.” She thought.

She was looking at them. The men must have notice her so they look at her. Aisha smiled a bit but the two didn’t return a smile. After some seconds, another black van stopped behind the first van. Both the driver and pas-senger were wearing masks too. She raised her brow. She felt something odd within her. They don’t even look like business men. Or perhaps their master was inside, the one who will be attending the party. She was in de-ep thought that she didn’t even notice the Go sign. Some cars were honking at her already.

“Hey!” Lisa shook Aisha who’s in daze.

“Oh, sorry!” she chuckled then she started driving. Her eyes shifted from the road to the rear mirror. The two black vans were still following them. She was thinking de-eply when she saw a crossroad. The one in the right side will lead them to the hotel, the other would lead her somewhere in the Central City. She redirected the car as she drives to the left side. Lisa’s face was full of questions as she looked at the restless lady beside her.

“Aisha, is there something wrong?” She asked. Aisha look at the rear mirror again; they are being followed positively. Aisha was looking for a way out. she can’t find one.

“Lisa, can you buy me a cu-p of coffee. Any coffee will do. Wait for me up there.” Aisha pointed the mall before them. “I think there is a coffee bean café inside.” She added.

“Okay.” Lisa look at her watch, they still have at least an hour before the party.

“I’ll come to you as soon as I found a parking space.” She smiled. Lisa smiled back then she went inside the mall. Aisha’s eyes were fixed at her friend until she can’t see her anymore. She made sure that no one followed her. as soon as she thinks her friend was safe, she drove down the parking lot. She can’t see the van, but she has to make sure so she took her handgun and her Damascus steel and hides it un-der her leg. It’s just in case of emergency anyway.

She’s about to exit the parkway when she suddenly halted. She stepped backward slowly, looking intently at the men before her. There were at least ten of them. At least they weren’t armed.

“Who are you? And what do you nee-d from me?” she asked with a dangerous tone.
_______

“Hey come on fas-ter! Make sure you get some good photos. This will definitely go big!” the man smi-rked as he talk to his partner while hiding behind the wall looking at Aisha and some men who surrounded her.

Aisha have been fighting with those men simultaneously. The camera man continued to take photos of her punches and flying kicks. The other guy had his phone record everything that’s happening. Astonishment was written all over his face as he watches the lady hitting those thu-gs as she avoided the men’s advances. She was so good. She fights well, as if she’s been doing it her whole life.

She was having a ha-rd time since she was wearing an evening gown. she can’t move freely but thank goodness that she moves fast. The men were lying on the ground, each one curling in pain. Good thing they don’t have weapons with them. Bounty hunters are loaded with weapons so she was sure that these men are not hunters at all. They were too weak for a bounty hunter.

“Who sent you?” Aisha grabbed someone in the collar. The man doesn’t want to talk. No one from the men wanted to talk despites her dangerous glare.

“Or should I ask your family instead?” she grinned evilly, “Aisha took her phone on the secret pocket un-der her dress. “You should know what I can do.” she threatened.

“Please! Don’t!” Aisha was about to dial the police hotline when the man interrupted her.

“It’s Lockwood. Angel Lockwood.” He muttered rou-ghly. Aisha suddenly let out a crisp laugh that the men look at her in awe.

“Angel? Angel Lockwood?” she continued to laugh. “Then I guess I have to give her a visit one day.” she sm-irks as she releases the pitiful man.

Aisha called Lisa and instructed her to come out and meet her where she drops her earlier. Lisa didn’t un-derstand but she followed. She was holding a cu-p of coffee as Aisha fetch her.

“I thought you wanna come up.” Lisa said when she sat at the pas-senger seat. She handed Aisha a cu-p of coffee.

“Thanks.” She Said, “I change my mind.” She smiled as she sips her coffee.

“Aisha what happen to your dress?” Lisa moved closer to see a ripped part of her dress at her back.

“Oh, I didn’t know. Must be when I tried to get out from the car earlier but my dress was caught on something.” she was smiling as if nothing happened.

“Then we should go back and change your dress then.” Lisa suggested.

“No, it’s okay. I already called someone to bring me an extra dress.” Lisa can see her confidence so she didn’t push her.

After Aisha finished her coffee, they drove back to where the crossroads were , then went directly to the Hotel. She still has less than thirty minutes to change.

“Would you like to go to the reception first? I’ll just nee-d to change at room 123.” Aisha asked.

“I’ll go with you instead.” She smiled then they both ride the elevator.
_____

“Let me see what you got?” the man took the camera from his companion then she started to browse them one by one.

“Well you did a great job! we don’t nee-d to go to the masquerade party. Let’s just go back to the office and write an article for this.” He laughed while his companion drove the van back to the central city. He was smiling from ear to ear then he started to watch the fighting scene that he recorded earlier.

“You will absolutely make me rich, princess. In return, I will make you famous.” He whispered loudly..
***

As soon as the elevator stopped at the third floor of the hotel, Aisha and Lisa strides towards the room.

“I didn’t know that you have some friends here. You never told me that before.” Lisa pouted jokingly.

“She was my friend back then when I was in the North state. You’ll love her I swear.” Aisha promised.

“Well, since you said so.”

Aisha knocked on the door. After a while, the door opened

“Aisha!”

“Sophie!” they briskly hu-g each other as if they haven’t seen each other for such a long time. Well, partly true. They haven’t seen each other for months since Aisha ran away from home.

Lisa, at the same time was shocked to see the woman. It was her! It was the woman in the hospital! Why is she here? Does that mean that Caleb is here as well? Her thoughts rampaged.

“Oh by the way, I want you to meet my friend Lisa,” Aisha pulled Lisa in.

“H-Hi! It’s nice meet—–”

“Oh hi there! We already met! I’m Sophie.” Sophie extended her hand. Lisa faked a smile as she shook her hand.

“You know each other?” Aisha was puzzled. Lisa never told her that she already met Sophie.

“Basically no. I didn’t have a chance to talk to her because of Caleb’s rudeness.” Sophie sarcastically explained as if she was disgusted to speak of Caleb’s name. Aisha laughed.

“Anyway, I just want to apologize of what happened that time —”

“Did something happened that I didn’t know of?” Aisha interrupted.

“N-nothing happened!” Lisa interjected. “Don’t you nee-d to change your dress? We only have less than 20 minutes to get you prepared.” Then she pushed Aisha inside.

“Ah right!” Sophie suddenly remembered why they were there so she took the paper bag then handed it to Aisha.

“You should change in the shower room.” Sophie pushed her inside.

“Why can’t I just change here?”

“Cause Caleb’s gonna be here anytime soon.” Lisa je-rked while sitting at the couch.

“Did she just say that Caleb is here?” Lisa thought to herself.

“Did I just hear my name?” Caleb suddenly came in enthusiastically.

“Speaking of the devil, here he comes!” Sophie sighed.

“Hey Caleb!” Aisha was overjoyed to see a healthy man in front of her. Now he’s walking. “How are you handsome?”

“You don’t have to say what’s obvious.” He laughed. “And how’s my darling sweetheart?” Caleb went near Lisa who was busy doing something on her phone. He noticed that she didn’t even look at him since he came in.

“Shut up!” Lisa indifferently cut him.

“There they go again.” Aisha teased then she pulled Sophie inside the shower room. “I nee-d help with the dress.” She uttered.

Lisa kept herself busy with her phone even when Caleb came near her. He was behind her. She knew that he was also looking at her phone but Lisa doesn’t want to care about him. she just kept reading some docu-ments on her mail.

“You should have not come if you plan to extend your work, you know.” Caleb was taunting her.

“You should mind your business.” Lisa spoke in annoyance.

“I am minding my business. But seems like she’s not in the mood.” His cold breath sent shivers in her spine. She could smell his refreshing perfume along with his minty breath. She grasped. A single action from Lisa may cause her head to touch his. Caleb suddenly look at her intently. His li-ps near her cheek. This pervert can definitely steal a ki-ss from her anytime. She gulped. Seems like Caleb’s enjoying taunting her.

“Are you mad at me?”

“Shut up!” Lisa’s attention is still on her phone.

“Are you really going to ignore me?” Caleb grinned at his sudden plan. When he didn’t hear any response from her, he instantly ki-ssed her cheek. Lisa’s eyes wide-ned. She glared at him but Caleb smi-rked evilly.

“Then let me cure your anger then!” he sensually uttered as he captured her li-ps.
