After a couple more futile sh0ts, I told him I really had to leave. While we pla-yed, we talked about various t©pics; I realized he was very smart. He also avoided some
questions tactfully like when I asked him about his parents.
Jafar: Uche will drop you off, lemme call him. Do me well to s£nd my best regards to Abayomi and Timi.
Me: you keep mentioning Timi, what’s that about?
Jafar: they are both members of your team, is there any reason why you are t©uçhy about him?
I shrugged.
Me: Uche is taking forever, where can I get a cab around?
Jafar: lemme drop you off.
I didn’t know if I wanted that, being as-sociated with a cultist or Confra as he calls it especially during the election period. But instead of saying no, I followed him to his Benz.
The car moved like him, quiet and efficient. He had a marc Anthony cd on. The track pla-ying was “when you sang to me”. Unfortunately….very unfortunately…I liked the song.

I sang along shamelessly. He would look at me sometimes and giggle. The ride was almost feeling like a normal one until I noticed the Volvo that was following us throu-gh the rear mirror, same Volvo that carried off Acho’s sorry a-s.

He said it so casually, that I couldn’t even condemn him. But my mind went throu-gh stories I have heard about what it takes to be number 1. I looked at his hand and wondered the evil he had done. I wondered how they hurt him during his initiation…I didn’t like the imagination of people hurting him. I was getting stupid. Then we got to the front of Toun’s house.

Me: very funny, there is one question I wanted to ask you. Do you think we will win, like honestly?
Jafar: with everything we have invested, that’s a lot of faith don’t you think?

Jafar: we can only do our best and hope it comes out well…we will do just fine

I noticed the Volvo stride behind the Benz as they drove away. I walked up to the door and was about to knock when I heard Toun m0@n . Listening carefully, I heard the gr-unt of the guy straffing my friend. I waited for about 15 minutes before I knocked. I hoped it wasn’t what I thought; I hoped it wasn’t another guy. It would have crushed me if it wasn’t Abayomi. When Toun opened the door and I saw his idiotic smile smile satisfied with his boo-ty call, I abused him.

Days flew past and thankfully there was no threat to my security. I moved back to my ap@rtment after Abayomi bribe-d me with paid lunch for a month. The guy wanted to scre-w his chic and I was a hindrance, plus I was still feeling uneasy about I and Toun’s parole. Unfortunately for Abayomi though, she spent a lot of time in my house. One of those times when she spent the night, Chibuzor, my neighbor nearest to the gate bec@m£ born-again. We were swallowing garri and soup when someone started shouting . i identified the voice as Chibuzor’s.

We were laughing inside the room when we heard a crash..Chibuzor did not open his door, he broke his door and stood arms akimbo in the compound. He was shouting so loud, everyb©dy c@m£ out of their rooms

I noticed his girlfriend crying infront of their room, I looked at Toun bewildered only to see the mumu Laughing.
Me: what is funny?
Toun: can’t I laugh again?
I ignored her and walked to Chibuzor’s girlfriend, she was scared
Me: why are you crying?
Girlfriend: someone should plea-se help him
Me: from being born-again?
Girlfriend: which born-again? He just finished eating and started praying seriously, I joined him as a supportive girlfriend until I heard “in Ojukwu’s name I pray” I got worried but I continued with him. Then he started preaching to me.

Girlfriend: he shouted and said “ woman, you have demons in your toto, demons that have been depriving me of A, B ONLY D,E and F”.
Toun: is that true?
I gave Toun a dirty stare. Then looked at Chibuzor, he was doing push-ups, the girlfriend went to him at this point.
Girlfriend: baby why are you doing push-ups?
Chibuzor: I am not your baby, I am married to Jesus, Jezebel leave me alone.
She started crying, I realized it was getting out of hand, I immediately called Timi.
Me: hello
Timi: hello Nkem
Me: quit the cra-p. I nee-d you ASAP (As Soon As Possible)
Timi: any problem?
Me: hurry, come with your car.
Timi c@m£ into the compound in thirty minutes. By then Chibuzor was anointing us in the compound with buckets of water, as we ran, he chased us..shouting “ Unclean spirit, LEAVE!”
Timi walked into Chibuzors room and c@m£ out with a plate of beans.
Me: you want to eat his left-over, if you are hungry, we have garri na.
Timi smiled and walked to Chibuzor’s girlfriend.

Toun started laughing loudly; a couple of hisses were rained on her

Chibuzor’s girlfriend looked puzzled, but cried on.
Me: we have to take him to the hospital
Timi: yep, give me a bucket of water..
Toun got a bucket of water and gave Timi.
As Chibuzor saw Timi approach with the water, he started jubilating

Timi Aka son of God, doused Chibuzor with the water and he bec@m£ a little disoriented. He tossed Toun the keys of his car, for her to drive, while I sat in front with her and he held Chibuzor at the back with his girlfriend at the other side. Toun could drive manual, I couldn’t. Our destination was Best-care hospital. As we drove along Olopomerin road, I saw a car follow us .
A Volvo.
Chibuzor kept saying incoherent words at the back of the vehicle. His girlfriend was still crying while Toun laughed and drove.

We all acted like we didn’t hear. I wondered what Timi was doing when I called him. I wondered if my calling him was just an excuse to see him. My phone beeped, signaling a message.

I looked at the side mirror to see if the Volvo was still following us, there it was..all big and Ugly. I was cursing Jafar un-der my breathe when I noticed the Volvo slow down to take a right turn. “thanks”, I texted Jafar.
“lol”, he texted back
Chibuzor : I believe I can fly
Once again we ignored him. Getting to the hospital, we held Chibuzor and f0rç£fully took him into the reception where some members of staff checked him in. while Toun and I remained in the reception, Timi and Chibuzor’s girlfriend followed him inside. As they led him in he shouted “PDP”, the people around the hospital laughed in return.

As soon as he saw me, he looked in the other direction, but Yewande looked at me and hissed. She left her b©yfri£ndand c@m£ to me.
Yewande: have you seen what you have caused? When I am finished with you, you will regret ever being in this school.
I kept quiet but Toun was having none of it.
Toun: You cannot do more than a hanging p@n-t!
Sometimes I wondered if Toun’s father was a judge or she was adopted.

As usual, the place was filled with students drinking different br@nds of beers. Toun sp©tted kofo and told me that we should walk up to her.
Kofo: hey Toun, Tana, babes howfar?

Me: Kofo howfar. Are you here alone or you c@m£ with a friend?
Kofo: I c@m£ with a group of friends. It’s a friend of mine’s birthday
Toun: oh, so how is the campaign going?

Toun smiled and turned to me.

I quietly followed Toun. I wanted to apologize for keeping it from her but I kept my mouth shut.
Me: isn’t Abayomi supposed to pick us up here?
Toun: I will text him to meet us at bebe
Me: how did you find out about Kofo?
Toun: I found out a while ago, and I know u knew about it
Me: Abayomi has ended it
Toun: I know that too, rememnber those geeks that c@m£ requesting you drop kofo as the campaign manager?

Toun: I told them to put it in the contract.

Me: why didn’t you break up with him?

We were lost in our talk that we didn’t see a car pu-ll over beside us. Before I could say jack, Toun and I were bundled inside the car.
There was two guys at opposite sides of the door guiding Toun and I, the glas-ses of the car was tinted while the stereo was at full blast.
Guy in front : Na you wan be vice-president abi?
We were driven around blind-folded for a long time before the car st©pped. When my eyes were opened, I realized we were in an incomplete building. Toun and I were tied down to a chair on sitting position. I started thinking of my parents and my sister. Is it worth to lose my life just because of University presidency? The person I was doing it for was probably enjoying himself somewhere now. The guys that brou-ght us in left us alone for about fifteen minutes before another guy c@m£ in. he was an albino…a scary looking albino.
Albino guy: Tana, Toun welcome
Me: what are we doing here, people will realize we are missing and you will be in trouble
Toun: serious trouble o, do you know the daughter of whom I am?
Albino guy: my name is Skanty..
He smiled ex-posing very ugly yellow looking teeth.
Skanty: what are you looking for in SUG?
Me: what is the big deal that you are kidnapping us?
Skanty: its not a game for people like you and Abayomi, why not face your studies and graduate?
Toun: why not re-lease us before you get into trouble?
Skanty smiled again, this time he brou-ght out a metallic object that looked like a gun…was a gun
Toun: Jesu….
Me: what do you want from us?
Skanty: You will call Abayomi and tell him to step down, tell him u and Toun’s lives are on the line. If he tells the police, you are in trouble. As soon as we verified that he has stepped down, you are free..its that easy
Me: you can’t be serious
His eyebrow shut up like I just said the most stupid thing possible. He got our phones and left the comp@rtment.
Me: Toun are you scared
Toun: not really. Abayomi will step down and we will be free
Me: but I don’t like blackmail. It’s not fair
Toun: I am just tired, its trouble every time since he declared for this position
Twisting my n£¢k, I looked at town as she looked helpless sitting on the chair.
Toun: I want to pee

We kept quiet for a while, and then I started laughing for no reason. Toun looked at me like I was mad, then she started laughing too. After a while my laughter turned to crying, as expected..Toun started crying too. It just dawned on us that we might be killed.
I didn’t know the time it was, but it was morning when the Albino c@m£ around. He brou-ght us slices of bre-ad and tea.
Me: we want to Pee
Toun: and take our bath
Skanty: to pee is okay, but taking your bath?… not possible..
Skanty scratched his head like he was wondering how he was gonna make us pee. He brou-ght out his gun and told loos£ned Toun from the chair. He did same with me.
Skanty: now pu-ll your clothes, everything…
Toun: we just wanna pee…no nee-d to pu-ll all our clothes
He started shouting..
Skanty: pu-ll all your clothes now!
I started pu-lling mine; it took Toun a few minutes to join me. When we were stark n-ked, he told us to pee.
Me: we should pee here?…isn’t there any toilet
