Timi hurriedly carried my bag to his car and sat there, waiting for me. I hvgged both Abayomi and Toun and bade them goodnight..
Timi drove in silence, I was hoping it would continue that way until he popped a question..
Timi: what is the Naetochukwu thingy all about?
Me: none of your business
Timi: what of the Jafar trip?
Me: none of your business too..
Timi: what is all this hostility about?
Me: does Annie even know her b©yfri£ndis here?
Timi: we are broken up..
Me: lool..you are a smooth liar though, I give that to you…
He didn’t reply me until we got to my ap@rtment. As I opened the door, I notice he wanted to come in, so I stood my ground..
Me: goodnight Timi, thanks for the ride..
Timi: can I come in..
Me: no, absolutely not..
He carried me effortlessly off my feet, I started pushing him to let me go but it was fruitless..he dropped me on my be-d..
Me: what do you want?
Timi: a listening ear..
Me: you are in the wrong place..
TImi: just hear me out..
I went to my fridge and took a satchet of Nutri-C, I made a glas-s of the orange drink as he sat down on the be-d and started talking..
Timi: before we started d@t!ng, I and Annie d@t£d briefly…it was more like a fling that was why I never told you. But the guy that she broke off with o come to me was still in her heart, so after a few weeks, she went back. After lecture, one afternoon like that, I got a text from Annie that I should see her at Mini-campus. By then you and I were alre-ady d@t!ng. I met her and she told me something that changed everything..
Me: what?
Timi: she told me she was pregnant for me and she wasn’t re-ady to ab-ort it..
I was speechless for a while, I never could imagine Annie pregnant..
Me: so where is the baby?
TImi: I told her I couldn’t f0rç£ her to ab-ort it but I felt it would be in our best interest if she did..
Me: so?
Timi: after some days, she c@m£ back and told me I would have to take responsibility for the baby and all. I told her there was no problem and I would have to tell you, because it was eating me up, we quarreled a bit , her qualms was that I wanted to tell you that she was pregnant and all the girls in the school would know about it from you..i told her you weren’t like that…so she went off in a rage. The next time I hear from her, she had done an ab-ortion.
Me: I am not yet getting you..
Timi: I couldn’t d@t£ you without telling you all the s–t that had gone down, and if I told you..i would be breaking the promise I made to her not to tell anyb©dy.
Me: so you chose her over us?
TImi: I chose her dignity and my word..
Me: so afterwards you decided to start straffing her again, probably planning for another baby?
Timi: I thought I owed it to her to stand by her, somehow something led to the other, you started d@t!ngAcho and I just remained with her..
Me: how convenient of you to blame me..
Timi: I am not blaming you…I am telling you the truth..

TImi: because you belong to me, and I should have just told you everything from the beginning…

There were tears streaming down his eyes..he looked so fragile, I wanted to hvg him and tell him everything would be alright..but I was hurting too..he should have told me all these, it would have given us some closure..
Me: so what do you want now?
TImi: I want us back, I am done with Annie…believe me..
Me: but I don’t think I am re-ady for a relationsh!pright now ,Timi..plus d@t!ngyou isn’t even in my plan..
Timi: do you still love me?
I kept quiet for a while…he looked at me with those beautiful eyes,,
Me: yes I still love you..
TImi: plea-se give me a chance..
Instead of replying, I held him and he rested his head on my brea-stz..i told him he could stay the night..afterall..this was Timi..i put off the light and went to lock my door..
Throu-gh the window, I saw a car pu-ll out from the front of my ap@rtment into the night. It was the Volvo.
I woke up to the sound of a text message on my phone, it was my friend Olashas, reminding me that today was her birthday and i had promised alongside Toun to come cook for her. Timi was still slee-ping..i loved the way his che-st went up and down as he snored gently..I picked up my phone to call Olashas and wished her a happy birthday.
It was two weeks to the election, although our popularity was almost at par with Nationals’, Most people gave us a slight lead. I didn’t want to dwell on it though, in the past we have heard of rigged elections, either to favor the state government or the school authorities..
Timi woke up and immediately cringed as rays of sunlight blinded his vision.
me: Goodmorning..
Timi: My love goodmorning..
me: take it easy with all this ‘my love’ thingy, i have not made up my mind yet..
Timi: No problem, i have got all the time in the world.
me: I see…i will be going to school soon, would make Oats and buy Akara before i leave. i know you don’t joke with your breakfast.

me: Sharra-p jor…i have new brush in my dresser, use it.
He went to get the brush wearing only a bo-xer short. i looked at the way his wonderfully shaped b©dy moved..the guy was fine sha o.
Timi : So whats up with this Jafar guy?

Since i arrived, i had been trying to concentrate on the pres£nt, this stupid boy wanted to cloud my head with Jafar..

Timi walked up to me and held me in his arms..his f!ngersbrushed throu-gh my hair..

His mouth was close to mine, i could taste his flouride filled breathe..

Then we k!$$£d. It was that kind of k!ssthat starts slowly, but ends up like you guys have been starving. I pushed him away gently before his hand found my p@n-ties…i ran into the bathroom to take my bath..
Timi : You can’t run from me forever, you know?
me: sharra-p and let me bath..when i am done i will get your Akara, while you take your bath..
Timi : Yay…i missed all those your bathing gels….makes me smell as fresh as your kutukutu…

Toun was waiting for me in the audotorium when i got to school. Timi had dropped me with his ugly looking car. The grin on her face when i stepped out of his car didn’t go unnoticed..
Toun : did he sleep in your house?
me : is that the goodmorning you were supposed to tell me?
Toun : Oya no vex, goodmorning ma…so did he sleep over…did you people straff?

I don’t know why, but hearing Jafar’s name, made my heart skip..
me : what was his visit about?
Toun : i don’t know, but Abayomi wants you to meet him at noon at the main- campus..
The clas-ses we has that morning was a torture. Toun and i didn’t un-derstand a thing that was said, our abs£nce from clas-s was taking its toll. I spent the rest of my time day-dreaming of Timi, he had promised to come pick me up after clas-ses…i had the bu-tterflies in my stomach…
I was with Abayomi as he had requested by noon. we were seated in the law faculty libr@ry. That was one of the most pri-vate places one could be at the Main-campus.
Abayomi : Tana i have a problem?
me : does it have anything to do with Jafar?
I didn’t want Jafar to have a problem with us..As regards friendsh!p, i didn’t want to have to have to choose between Abayomi and Jafar..
Abayomi: No… not Jafar
me: Then what?
Abayomi : I think i might be responsible for Kofo’s pregnancy..
i laughed…there was nothing else to do than just smile…
Abayomi : What is funny?
me : i don’t know…
Abayomi : she has promised to tell Toun about it..
me : Wow…i get,why you are scared now…
Abayomi : I nee-d you to pay her a visit. i nee-d you to convince her not to..

Abayomi : she respects you..she always told me so..

me : Okay, i will talk to Kofo…but we are not even sure that you are responsible, we all saw National pound her…

me : what did Jafar come for this morning?
Abayomi : He said Eli has been freed from p@n-ti…and he was back in campus….
me : who is Eli…?
Abayomi : Like Jafar , he is the number 1 of another cult group…he had been arrested for possesion of weapons..
me : so why was he re-leased and allowed back in campus?
Abayomi : He is important for the state Elections, his boys control Ijebu….Politicians payed for his re-lease…
me : so how is that a problem?
Abayomi : He hates Jafar….
me : isn’t that expected?
Abayomi : He is supporting National….Eli is very dangerous. Jafar wanted us to know….
Timi c@m£ for me as promised, he picked up Toun too, who we dropped at her ap@rtment. I felt a bit uncomfortable keeping what Abayomi told me away from her. There were too many things i was keeping away from her, i didn’t like it. I planned to visit Kofo later that night, but that was after i took a nap. Thoughts of Eli c@m£ to my mind on the way home..
Me : Timi, tell me about Eli..
Timi : What about Eli?
Me : i just want to know about him
Timi : First it was Jafar, now its Eli, whats up with you and this kind of guys?
Me : Abayomi told me he was re-leased from prison and he is in National’s Camp…
Timi : serious?
Me : yep…so i nee-d to know about him…
***Timi kept looking sideways as he spoke***
Timi : he has been in this school for probably 7yrs.. he is one of those guys that isn’t interested in graduation. There was a gist about him having a problem with one of his friends, after his friend thought they had sorted their ish out, he burnt the guy’s car. That was when he was in 100 Level. Another incidence was when he visited a guy in his house, unfortunately, the guy wasn’t home, but his girlfriend was. it was reported that he brou-ght out his pistol and commanded the girl to str!p after which he R@p£d her. On his way out he met the friend coming back in and hvgged him, thanking him for Lunch.
I was dumbfounded, but Timi wasn’t done..
Timi : there was a p@rty that he wasn’t invited to, but he went anyways…the p@rty was held in a h0tel. After eating and drinking, he went to the female rest-room and waited. An unfortunate girl c@m£ in to ease herself..he was hiding at d corner when the girl bent down to pee…He was said to just appear and told the girl not to stand up…that she should just turn around in the same position she was. He straffed her on the toilet, holding his pistol. when the tears filled girl reported to the host of the p@rty, he said he was powerless… Before then Eli’s notoriety had become known around the school. Then the attacks didn’t st©p. Especially between his group and Jafar’s. That was before Jafar was number 1, the number 1 then was Dante..
Me : Dante has graduated?
Timi : nope, after too many deaths off campus, a truce was organised by the student union government un-der kakaki. Eli and Dante were said to have agreed to no violence for the entire semester. Eli was said to have hvgged Dante, and all around was glad. After the talks, on the way home, Dante was attacked at Ago garage…the first sh0t killed Muski, his b©dy guard..Dante brou-ght out his gun to shoot but they were too much on him. Eli noticed that the bullets didn’t seem to pene-trateDante, although it weekend him. He tried running but didn’t go far before he was brou-ght down. Cutlas-s was used on him but they left blunt marks , his b©dy was fortified. So Eli told his boys to hold down Dante, while he told others to bring a spoilt car engine that was lying idle in the garage. The engine was lifted just above Dante’s head, then it was re-leased. His head bur-sted.
me : oh my God…
Timi : yes, Eli is devilish….
me :what problem does he have with Jafar? Abayomi told me he hates Jafar..
Timi : it was rumored that he had led a squad to take out Jafar. Jafar had been cornered in clas-s when Eli bought out his pistol to kill him, people that were there said he told Jafar to beg for his life, same thing he told Dante before he killed him, but Jafar didn’t, instead he raised up his hand, but as Eli looked at Jafar’s hands, Jafar buried the pen he was holding in Eli’s left eyes. With screams of pain,Eli sh0t blindly as Jafar ran out of the clas-s throu-gh a window..he was chased down to the basketball court, that was were Uche got to him. Uche was with a pump-action that scared the s–t out of the as-sailants. In the hospital, Eli was placed un-der arrest for possesion of weapons, he was transferred to prison from the hospital with an eye.
me : Wow…all these is getting scary Timi….
Timi : don’t worry, i would protect you…
me : thanks…
It didn’t seem right for me to tell Timi that it was Jafar i was worried about. i didn’t want anything to happen to him…

i was ma-king jollof sphag and boiled eggs for Timi and i for dinner. He wanted to spend another night in my house, i was liking the idea. while he was watching Californication, i was in the kitchen, i decided to call Jafar to check up on him.
Jafar : Hey…
me : hi…
Jafar : you just remembered me….
***The baga did not know i had been thinking of him since hearing of Eli..***
Me : lol, how is Uche and the rest of your guys?
Jafar : we are good, how are you?
Me : I’m good…
There was a weird silence before he spoke…
Jafar : is there something you want to tell me?
Me : Jafar, Abayomi told me about Eli…i am scared..
Jafar : oh… don’t worry, we will take care of things…you shouldn’t stay alone though… how about staying with Toun?
Me : Im not alone
Jafar : You are with another friend?
me : yes, i am with Timi
Jafar : oh…He will be spending the night?
me : yes….
If the earlier silence was weird, this was worse….i didn’t know why i felt guilty, Jafar could have like 3 girls in his be-d now…
Jafar : nice then, cool to have someone take care of you…
me : How is fatima and her friends?
Jafar : they are good. Time for me to sleep…my regards to Timi…

After the call i climbe-d into be-d with Timi..he wra-pped me in his arms as we both watched Tv. my f!ngerswent throu-gh the bristles of his hair when i remembered that i hadn’t gone to see Kofo.. I immediately picked up my phone to call her but she didn’t pick..After a couple more tries, i st©pped and went to bring the food from the kitchen…As we ate, i spoke to Timi..
Me : so has Annie been trying to reach you. You guys spoke on the phone?
Timi : nope. why ask?
Me : i don’t want to be left in the dark
Timi : no dear…i won’t keep anything from you…
Me : honestly Timi, are we going to win this election?
Timi : Yes…though its a ti-ght race, I’m sure we will pu-ll throu-gh…
Me : I really do hope so, we have come a long way…
Timi cleared the dishes after we finished eating, i was too lazy to wash the plates. promised myself to wash them before clas-ses tomorrow….
I went to the bathroom, to take my bath. hoping that Timi would have sle-pt before i finished. i was trying as much as possible not to have s-x with him so soon. Lord knows i wanted it badly..
The cold water from the shower hit my skin with the sweetness of bur-sting freedom, with my shower cap on, i stood beneath the shower for a while, then i started washing my b©dy, starying with my n£¢k, then brea-stz downwards…my face always c@m£ last….with soapy hands, i closed my eyes to wash my face…i heard a sound, opening my eyes…i saw Timi standing close to me….n-ked too.

i wanted to talk again when he lifed me and drove my back to the wall…his mouth found mine, with my eyes closed, my ton-gue tasted his, the water from the shower setting a tone in the backgroud…His cu-mpped my bu-m my l@ps spre-ad wi-de around his slim waste….
me : I think we should st©p….
Timi : why? you want it as much as i do….its been a while dear….plea-se…
i pushed him away….rinsed my b©dy and left him in the bathroom….He c@m£ out some minutes later….
Timi : what happened in there?
me: nothing. i think we should wait a bit…..

I fell into be-d, he c@m£ beside me and held me in his arms….

Abayomi : Kofo died this evening, she attem-pted an ab-ortion….

Kofo was buried two days later at Ago-iwoye cemetary. The only family member of hers pres£nt for the burial was her younger brother. Most of us who were kofo’s friend attended, even National c@m£ to pay his respects.
Abayomi had confessed to Toun that he still sle-pt with Kofo after she had warned him. Toun told him it was okay, she un-derstood what he was going throu-gh…but she broke up with Abayomi…
She had to move in with me for a while, till her heart got unbroken…
Me : So have you spoken with Abayomi today?
Toun : Yes i called him this morning, he is doing fine…
Me : alot of people are saying it was a lecturer that impregnated her, i am sure you must have heard…
Toun : It doesn’t matter if it was Abayomi or not. The fact is that he straffed her when he told me he had st©pped…
Me : The poor boy nee-ds you right now, atleast go visit him

Something had changed about Toun since the break up with Abayomi…She sounded angry all the time…
Me : Will you follow us to campaign at Main- Campus this evening?
Toun : Ofcourse i would, You and Abayomi are my pals for life…
Me : thank you..
There was no Electricity, it was a very h0t afternoon. Although one of Obasanjo’s campaign promises had been to provide more electricity, it had gotten worse. Thank God Yar’adua and Buhari were pla-ying it easy…Atiku followed Obasanjo’s footsteps..
I wondered if i was like them, ma-king promises just to win an Election. i shuddered to think of the violence usually perpetuated, unfortunately even my own elections was showing signs of violence. Two cult groups were using the elections as a show of supremacy..We the candid@t£s and the students in general were at the middle..
Timi and Abayomi c@m£ to pick us up by 4pm for the campaign, some other guys followed them with their cars too…The singing and dancing took a lower tone, we had to honor Kofo. We seemed to be getting an upper hand as a result of the death.. Students who remembered her as our former campaign manager vowed to vote for us..Even Yewande c@m£ to express her sympathies with us….
Shortly before the end of the campaign, Naetochukwu c@m£ with his Avalon and scooped Toun away, Abayomi saw him leave with her…As he and Timi dropped me off at home, he shared his fears with me..
Abayomi : do you think she will take me back someday?
Me : truthfully?
Abayomi : yes Tana…
Me : i don’t think so, she says you remind her of her Dad…
Abayomi : Wow…..
Me : yes…
Abayomi : you think she will straff Naetochukwu?
Me : that is really noty business….
Timi : i hate that boy mehn….
Abayomi : chai…Adetoun has left me for real…
The tear that rolled down from his cheek got to me…he really loved her…i vowed to scatter Toun and Naetochukwu’s plans, must win Toun back for my bestie…my oga..
Toun c@m£ in very late smelling of alcohol. I was glad she even decided to come back that night. I allowed her to sleep, intending to talk to her about the Naetochukwu wish when we got to school..
So as we went to the cafetaria to eat around noon, i brou-ght up the t©pic…

Toun : he is good, never knew he had an interesting s-en-se of humour…

Suddenly there was a hush in the cafetaria, two guys c@m£ in..all eyes were on them, unfortunately, they were coming in our direction…One of them st©pped to talk to a light skinned lady, two tables away. The other one c@m£ directly to us…

Daniel and his friend looked at him. but decided to ignore him, a lot of eyes were on them, i was sure they didn’t want to be seen like sissies…

beneath the table i was s£ndind a text to Jafar….i could smell trouble around me..My raising up my head to answer Toun, coincided with the other guy joining the first on the seat…He didn’t nee-d to introduce himself, i could see he had just one eye..
Eli : Tana …. howfar na…hope say i meet una well?
He had a face that would have been called handsome if not for the numerous scars. He was smoking a stick of cigarette even though a big sign said “no smoking”..
The other guy sitting next to him had his eyes fixed on Toun. I was scared $h!tless…

We stood up to leave..my heart was beating fast, i hoped he wasn’t gonna st©p us..

He and his other guy ate in silence….i was wondering how long it would take for Jafar to come or s£nd his peeps, i eas freaking out..but then i realised it would be dangerous for Jafar to come, Eli might just take his revenge..
It was around 2pm when he stood us and commanded us to follow him outside…His Black BMW was packed beside the cafetaria, his colleague whom he called Orisa ushered us in…
Me : where are you taking us to?

The story about his r@p£ escapades flooded my br@in…

He ignored me, instead he lit up another cigarette and drove out of Mini-campus…
He continued driving in silence, Orisa rested his head on his chair, sipping a bottle of London dry gin..
I got a text on my phone…it was Jafar….

i didnt answer…Uche was slowing down on purpose…Eli couldn’t move as fast as he wanted.. He picked up his phone with his left hand dialled a number and put it on speaker..it was Jafar he called…
