LOVE AND JUSTICE
EPISODE 20
The stadium was filled with people, cheering happily for the newly elected President, it had been a week of busy campaigning for Tatila and his group as we planned our last move. I was feeling so relaxed and so composed that morning my head was clear even as I pas-sed throu-gh the clouds to get closer to the front. My mind p@rtly trying to accomplish my last mission for my cause and the other p@rt thinking of my woman back at home. I tried to push thoughts of her out of my mind but every time she kept popping up in my head.
“We are approaching the control room” c@m£ a voice on the hearing device in my ear I quic-kly recognized its voice as that of Chama.
“Scar you got that?” I bent my head a little as I talked.
“got it man am in position, my men up here too, I wish you could give me a go ahead to put bullets in those two people seated comfortably in the front seats then the American behind them” he responded with a stern voice I knew he was being so serious.
“We said no more killing unless it is necessary” Ackim c@m£ in with a warning sound he had gone to help take out the guards ta the control room with Jim and one other guy. The man was good with silent take outs and I nee-ded him in the back as I observed closely what was happening in the front my head in a cap.
“We got that man don’t worry he is not going to b!ow it” I sighed as I stood a few heads away from the stage were the inauguration ceremony for Jacob Tatila was being held. I stared at Makasa seated in a gray neatly tailored suit his eyes kept looking around I knew what he was looking for.
Recalling my visit to his house the previous night, we had driven in his luxurious house which he recently bought to hide from me. Thanks to my old inside man I got his location and drove throu-gh his gate in the back of the vehicle Scar posing as a normal visitor disguised as gentle business man with an important meeting with him.
“Oh, I see Sir, am sorry I had no information of your coming, my husband didn’t say a thing before leaving” a woman I c@m£ to learn was his wife welcomed Scar into the house. He gr@bb£d her and they disappeared in and later on c@m£ to open the car for me.
“Get out now, we are in” he whispered and I jumped out of the vehicle following him inside.
“What the hell have you done?” I shouted seeing the woman lying down on the ground
“She started talking nons-en-se I had to shut her down” he giggled casually taking out a cigarette and handing me one.
“So what do you think about what the man from Benson told us?” he asked sitting down in a couch and folding his legs causally like he was in his house.
“I think he was telling the truth, he could not lie after all that torture. The names on the list are all the people involved in the scam to run this country, I should have known their target was to mine the newly discovered minerals in the North Western p@rts of this country. How selfish” I shook my head joining Scar and relaxing too as Makasa`s wife started shaking awakening. She looked up at us and tried to scream but her mouth was shut and her hands tied up she winced her eyes wi-de open.
“Yeah, they will pay for this man, I have gone throu-gh hell the past weeks, I have lost some men too in this damn war and its payback time” I shook my head standing up and looking out the window.
“So tell me how they planned to do that” Scar asked
“Do what?” I looked at him walking back to the couch
“You mean run the country and steal our resources?” I added chuckling.
“well you heard the man, the more reason they put such a naïve President in the office was to as to manipulate him and make him their puppet, they would get all they want from this country un-der our noses without any trouble with the law. “ I sighed
“Hm. anyway, all I want is justice for my men and some cash money “he giggled and we both stood up hearing the sound of a vehicle approaching.
“Our man is here” Scar smiled at me
“Good, he will find us” I smiled and went back to sit my gun closer to my left arm. Makasa walked ion with an unknown man talking and he halted upon seeing us both seated comfortably in his living room his wife tied up on the ground.
The guy with him pu-ll-ed out a gun but Scar was fas-ter shooting him before he could pu-ll the trigger. The loud sound of the sh0t made Makasa shut his eyes and wanted to escape but I stepped forward catching him before he could make a move.
“Hey, we meet again old friend” I smiled pushing him down the couch he threw the papers he had in his hands.
“What the hell do you want man?” he spat angrily.
“I want you to lead us inside the building where the coronation will be tomorrow” I smiled casually and his eyes pooped looking at me.
“What for?” he asked
“well, I don’t nee-d to explain myself to you Makasa, by the way I heard what you did to my woman and am going to make sure you pay for laying your filthy f!ngersat her” I shrugged pacing around as Scar kept a gun at him.
“Well. You have a bad record Steve, you always get left overs, no wonder you end up scre-wed” he teases with a laugh I landed a few b!ows in his face breaking his noise in an instant. By the time I was done I could hear him finding it ha-rd to breath he begged to be left alone.
“Listen to me Makasa. You will do as I say or I swear you will end up like Benson. The next state funeral will be yours and I will give your wife to my men, your girl who is in the boarding school will get to marry one of my men too” what do you say, we have a deal or what” I quic-kly went to the point and he nodded his head in agreement.
We spent an hour with him that night telling him what he was to do and made him drive out with me in the back to monitor him and Scar in the vehicle we c@m£ with, with Makasa`s wife tied in the back to act as leverage to get him to do what we wanted, we had to use their method to get our results. The following morning we all were gathered at the house going throu-gh our plans.
“Lets put this to an end guys, we all go home and live free and happy” Ackim was the one that summarized our discussion that morning.
“I have taken control of the broadcasting” Chama spoke in the speakers again pu-lling me off my memory.
“Good, every unit copy that and lets all move to phase two, this is our moment boys! Let’s do this and get home safe” I spoke up.
In a few minutes the TV besides the stage showing what was going on at the stadium changed and pla-yed the scenes from the offices of Jacob showing all the talks about their plans. Those of Benson too. There was total silence for some time as people listened in what was being pla-yed and I saw the guards panicking looking around the audience, the video was followed by a list of names in block laters listed with their pl@yin the scheme and I smiled at some faces seated in the most important seats in front. They started panicking and shouting for someone to turn it off by now it was too late, media ph0togra-phers were all over getting the video of wall that was going on. The silence from the audience was followed by murmuring and shouting from the clouds.
“They are traitors!” people shouted and some guards started moving about I sp©tted two of them heading my way.
“Here we go men, action time “I shouted running back the cloud ma-king it ha-rd for me to move out.
“Get out of there Ackim!” I shouted finding a way to the back stage where I knew the president would be led out from.
“Am coming your way” Ackim shouted
A few minutes later the entire place was full of commotion with angry people throwing things at the stage and the police finding it ha-rd to keep people away from the ministers and the guest’s seated.
“Come on cover the president!” a voice shouted and I pu-ll-ed the gun re-ady to fire. Ackim joined me at the right time as the guard’s started shooting at us shielding their president. Jacob started running away as the men covered him.
“He is mine! Take care of them” I looked at Ackim who nodded his head.
Just as he was about to be driven away in his posh vehicle I got to the car pu-lling the trigger in the head of the driver ma-king the car st©p hitting the wall of the stadium.
“Jacob wow you look good” I smiled at his sweaty face pointing a gun in his face.
“Steve, we can talk about this plea-se” he begged his hands shaking.
“Tell me who the master mind from outside this country is.” I asked without wasting any time, he started shaking without saying a thing and I sh0t him in the leg.
“Okey, I will tell you dammit!” he screamed in pain.
“Who and where is he?” I asked him
“I will take you to him, plea-se don’t shoot” he breathed heavily wincing in pain.
“Just tell me where the hell he is man, I know everyone else except the master mind behind all this nons-en-se. I know only one man is not revealed on that list, so give me his name and address now” I shouted seeing the place being clouded with soldiers and choppers to try make some order at the mad clouds.
“His name is Augustine Hanes!” he screamed loudly and after wards gave me the address.
“Got that?” I asked from the speaker.
“Yes man heading there now” Jim responded.
“He must be five minutes away from here” he added
“Good, make sure you get him before he escapes, he should be watching the TV now. “ I told him
“Ackim, I got it, this man will be sorted by the mob and the law.” I smiled looking at Jacob now p@n-ting like a dog his suit stained in blood as he held his wound ti-ght.
“I will not kill you man, let the law and the people be your judge but this is for my men” I pu-ll-ed him out of the vehicle and drove it as the soldiers c@m£ after me fiercely.
“Come! let’s go!” I screamed at Ackim and he run to the vehicle, immediately I drove out dispersing all the units around the stadium I knew we would meet a few minutes later.
It was so ha-rd to get out as security had increases along the roads with lot of fighting against the people but thanks to the speed Vehicles we managed to find our way out in no time
EPISODE 21 (FINALE)
She wra-pped her legs around me ti-ghter and let a scream I felt her vibr@te a little and the second minute I vibr@ted too satisfied.
“Wow!” I smiled looking into her eyes the brightness in them ma-king me feel proud she had chos£n me. It was the morning after our wedding and we had spent our ro-mantic night in the Lusaka Intercontinental h0tel. I was not one to take plea-sure in outings and honey moon things, but I nee-ded her to feel special. I had given her the wedding of her dreams 2 months after the mission to cut down the entire crew of those who were about to sell us. There was nothing more I nee-ded than to see the woman who has chos£n to love me for who I was with all my flaws and all my drama. She had chos£n to love me and my heart found more than peace with her. I was contented beyond what I ever imagined.
“I love you honorable minister of defense” she brushed herl-ips on mine with smile.
“I love you more my woman ” I responded honestly.
We spent the rest of the morning and afternoon in doors. I was taking a bath when my phone rung and Queen rushed bringing it to me
“Who is it?” I asked before taking the phone from her.
“It’s Ackim “She responded.
“Hm. What the hell does he want am on my honey moon” I chuckled ma-king Queen shake her head at me.
“I know you want to talk to him, besides remember the only reason he is so on this country is because he wanted to attend our wedding. He could be saying bye after all” she handed me the phone.
“Hey man!” I answered after wiping my hands dry.
“Hey soldier what’s up?” I heard his calm voice from the other end.
“Am calling to let you know we are at the Airport, starting off in an hour. My wife says blessed marriage and take care of her new friend.” He spoke I could hear Paula giggling in the back ground.
“You know I still insist you ought to have taken the job offer given by the new government. You could do well as a minister too you know that?” I smiled as I walked out of the bathroom.
“Hm. No, Am done man. I have done what i could for this nation and now my time is up. I want to dedicate the rest of my life to my family. Plus you know am now more than a Rich guy” he added with a. Laugh.
“Yeah thanks to our ha-rd working Father in law my friend has mines and a lot of estates to benefit from. “I tea-sed ma-king him laugh.
“Don’t tell Paula I said that” I quic-kly added and he laughed loudly I could hear Paula asking what it was I said.
“Nothing baby, he is just being a j£rk” Ackim told her.
“Okey man let me talk to you when I land. I got to go now” I heard him sigh, as Queen helped wipe my b©dy dry.
“Cheers man” I answered, well done once again and thanks for doing this with me. “I added and we hang up.
“So?” Queen looked at me.
“They are leaving any time from now” I responded sitting down.
I was to address the nation in a week. It was going to be my second appearance to the public. After the last hit we made in all the culprits who were involved, that afternoon of the inauguration my boys managed to capture Hanes before he could escape. They brou-ght him to the house and after some torture he agreed to the schemes as we recorded him. The video was later on s£nt to the justice people.
The other ministers had held a convention that same day and re-moved Jacob Tatila from the presidency. All the involved guys were placed un-der some hearing two days later, their resources were confiscated, and all of them put prison. There was jubilation in the country as the speaker took over running of the country until after three months when new elections were held and the opposition later chos£n as new president.
“Steven you are going to take up the position of the defense minister as we could not find any suitable person other than you. You know the inside of the f0rç£ and your experience will help in terms of security of this country. “The newly elected president had called me one afternoon.
I was dully appointed and that was the first time I appeared as the hero on the national television. Information about what we had done had spre-ad but people had not seen our faces till then.
After the speech which was as brief as I was not good at words, I just stated the fat that it was a duty for all of us in the nation to guard our land and make sure we all dedicated to the prosperity of our future generation and not give what is ours to some foreign people.
The simple speech was concluded and was followed by jubilation in the house, it was then that I called Ackim, Jim, Chama and Aaron (Scar) to the front and introduced them as the men who fought ha-rd with their lives to get our nation in order.
“Am still getting my money man” Scar had smiled as we walked out of the meeting with me clowned in the military lingerie the ministers.
“I know man I will keep my promise do not worry yourself. But I thought what they have given you as an award is enough” I looked at him with a laugh
“Hm, it could be but I just want to have something stolen” he tea-sed as we got to the car.
“Hm, once a thief huh?” Ackim had responded ma-king us all laugh.
We were heading out the state house and went for a cerebr@tion at my new residence in president Avenue. I could not believe I was elevated like that. My mission was to get justice but I was pres£nted with more than I had asked for. Like Ackim had stated, I was the right person for the job and I had earned it fairly and with my life.
Three months down the line here I was married to my woman. She had gone to Mozambique to get her grandfather and we had a nice house with workers around town. A few other relatives joined him and Queen told me how they had mocked them but she wanted what was best for all of them and since her grandfather nee-ded a close relative given his age. We agreed to let two other sisters of his stay with him.
“My love, do you know that Makasa s£nt a mas-sage to me the night before our wedding?” queen asked ma-king me look at her as I finished dressing up.
“What?” I turned to look at her.
“Yeah he did s£nd someone from prison, he was asking if I may put in a word with you to help him get a reduced jail s£ntence. He said he was blinded by money and now he knows better”
I shook my head laughing softly as she explained.
“He is mad huh? He thinks he will get away with a free life after what he did” I paused
“Hm. I wonder what makes him think he can convinced me to talk to you about this” she sighed too
“Well, the guy is proud my love, he thinks you still feel something for him “I giggled
“Well I might be feeling something for him” she tea-sed nodding her head.
“What did you say?” I stood up holding her hand.
“Yeah I do” she smiled again but quic-kly added
“I feel so disgusted at the thought of him and what he did to me “
“Careful how you say your words woman I might go and eliminate him from prison myself” I smiled pushing her to the wall she g@sped as I k!$$£d her softly.
“Hm. can we have a break plea-se we have not even eaten our lunch yet” she smiled wra-pping her hands around my n£¢k
“I know, just that my wife turns me on all the time I cannot get enough of her” I whispered b!tt!g her ear lobe she giggled pushing me back.
“Let’s go and order something am starving my love” she pu-ll-ed her sandals on her feet and we walked out to the restaurant hand in hand.
The following day Ackim called me and told me they landed safely and that Paula was carrying another baby for him. He said she had some nausea the time they landed. They were told at the hospital she was pregnant.
“Well, that is good news man am jealous of you” I told him
“Get to it man, you nee-d a child to enjoy with what you have achieved. There is nothing that will make you complete than the love of your woman and your children, you will have more reasons to work ha-rd .” He added and I knew he was right.
“I have to make my own kids now” I spoke on the phone looking at Queen laying down.
She looked at me and smiled wi-dely.
“What?” I asked after hanging up.
“Well, Honorable I heard your laments and am glad to let you know that am pregnant alre-ady” she smiled.
“Well, st©p teasing me or I swear you will not rest till you get triplets in their” I laughed tou-ching her stomach
“Am serious, was feeling strange the past days and I bought the pregnant test last night throu-gh the waitress. I just did the test this morning and am glad to announce to you that am pregnant. We nee-d to get confirmation from the doctor though” she explained I could not hold my joy.
“Well, one thing is for sure Queen, I will strive to make you both happy” I concluded after the small jubilation.
Days later, I was to address the nation again concerning the few changes I had made to the defense f0rç£s and as I walked to make my pres£ntation, I could see faces of people happy and shouting my name. It was evident they saw me as their hero and I was stunned to see my relatives around too.
“Queen” I sighed in my head knowing she was the one that invited them. I had not decided to have them back in my life but Queen wouldn’t let me. I pushed back the thoughts of my aunties and cousins and looked at the waiting audience to address them. My wife smiled at me and that was enough courage I nee-ded to go ahead. She had made sure I was neat, since she alre-ady got me to cut off my beards now she made sure my outfits were befitting to the occasions. She nodded her head again and I sighed before speaking to the people and members of defense f0rç£s pres£nt.
